    "Bad interception" vs Detroit? You must've forgot the play. You may want to go back and watch the play again. Carr threw it perfectly to Juwan Johnson and it went through his hands. How is that a "bad interception"?

      So basically the perfect 'transition' QB. But also not really since you probably need to a top 5 draft pick to get your franchise QB after him, so in reality, Carr's not good for anything except false hope, disappointment and wasted time

      @@TNT_12wrong. The problem with fan (and media) perception is that they think QB's win or lose. Nothing could be further from the truth.
      Carr hasn't been more successful in his career bc he's had the worst defenses of any starting QB in the NFL since at least 2000. That's a fact. He keeps getting chances bc teams know that it was the team around him holding him back, not the other way around (like with Simms). Carr plays at an elite level, and then will lose anyway bc the defense gave up 36 points. That's not the QBs fault. That's why it's moronic to look at a teams record to judge a QB.
      HOF QB's in their prime couldn't win with comparable defenses. That includes guys like Rodgers and Brees, the latter of whom has almost as many non winning seasons as winning ones. The only time in Carrs career where he had a competent team around him, he went 12-3 as the starter, earned a pro bowl, was just edged out of winning an all pro (which was BS btw), and finished 3rd in MVP voting. Every other team in Carrs career had serious flaws that would have made it either impossible or nearly impossible for that team to make the playoffs. The '14 and '18 Raiders teams were literally the worst in the NFL, made up of more starting practice squad players then the rest of the NFL had COMBINED. Prime Brady would have struggled to win 4 games on those teams. The 2020 Raiders team gave up the most PPG in team history that year. Despite that, they were the 2nd team ever to win 7+ games giving up 30+ PPG. Both teams won 8 games. Was he supposed to make the playoffs then? How? He would have had to throw 50+ TDS just to have a chance (QB's who throw 50+ TDS in a season ALWAYS have elite weapons, a good OL, and either a very good defense giving them plenty of extra possessions, or a defense that gets a ton of turnovers.... giving them plenty of extra possessions. Carr had NONE of that).
      So yeah, the misconceptions on Carr are many. If he played for a stable organization that put talent around him, he would be seen as an elite franchise QB. Unfortunately all he's had is terrible teams around him and constant coaching changes bc of said terrible teams (Raiders couldn't draft to save their lives. Literally the worst team at drafting of the last 2 decades. That's a fact btw, and it isn't close). If not for Gruden getting cancelled, Carr would still be with the Raiders, and they would be having plenty of success with Carr right now. Unfortunately he did get cancelled, and then McDumbass was hired, who destroyed the locker room culture and team trying to build it in his image. Was fired mere months after getting rid of Carr, arguably the biggest reason he was canned. And that's why Carr is a saint.

    Carr has been my favorite person/player for a long time and I can say this with all honesty:
    If you give him a clean pocket/time, he is elite and will carve anyone up. But, if you get to him with constant pressure he becomes average at best. In his defense, the only time in his career where he had a decent O-line he was an MVP candidate.

    • @bernardthefourth
      @bernardthefourth 6 днів тому

      He is more dependent on his line than others. Zero pocket feel, he gets destroyed. That's his issue.

  • @user-mi4du9rd1j
    @user-mi4du9rd1j Місяць тому +5

    From a clean pocket with 3 or 4 seconds, Carr can put the ball anywhere on the field you want. Unfortunately, you can't count on that these days. Top QBs need to be able to make good things happen when plays fall apart. Carr's just not very good at that.

    • @jessegardner134
      @jessegardner134 19 днів тому +1

      He is tho, as long as he's familiar with the system. That's a luxury he hasn't had very often in his career, esp last season.
      Go look up Carr highlights, and you'll see plenty of plays where he's bought time and made amazing throws.
      Hell in '21, with the playoffs on the line, he ran up into a collapsing pocket, made a throw in the run while being hit, on a 3rd down, that was an absolute dot that directly lead to the win. If not for that play, Raiders season likely ends right there.

    Your description of Carr is accurate to the middle of the season when he was playing with a rotator cuff injury & broken ribs.

    Carr doesnt trust his own post snap processing ability and it causes him to rely too much on presnap. He has toughness he just sees certain looks and goes to the checkdown. On 1 play when carr was with the raiders belichick doubled the check down because he knew if car saw a certain coverage against the play that was called he was checking it down immediately regardless if it was 3rd and 15. @@foxfire1112 Stop with this Bull$hit “Garbage time” nonsense, Carr doesn’t get blown out enough to make it statistically relevant.
      “Garbage Time” time stats are invalid, because they come when the Defense is playing prevent and letting the QB complete a lot of passes underneath to keep the clock running.
      Carr’s 4th Quarter last season had his smallest number of passing yards of any Quarter, so that obviously wasn’t happening.
      The stats I use to create a QB ranking every season to check my own bias are:
      Completion %
      Interception %
      Yards Per Attempt
      Passer Rating
      QBR
      Total TD (passing & QB Rushing)
      Total Yards (Passing & QB Rushing)
      Total 1st Downs
      Fumbles Lost
      PFF Grade
      I’m trying to accurately evaluate QB play.
      I’m not trying to deceive myself or confirm a bias.
      Here’s why Simms’ and everyone’s “Carr throws too many Checkdowns” are nonsense.
      We have data that tracks this, ADOT or NFL Next Gen Stats “Intended Air Yards” & “Completed Air Yards”.
      You would see an inordinate amount of checkdowns reflected there, and here’s how Carr compares to some other high profile QB’s
      Will Levis IAY 10.5 CAY 6.7 (Most in NFL)
      Josh Allen IAY 8.6 CAY 5.9
      Derek Carr IAY 8.0 CAY 5.8
      Dak Prescott IAY 7.9 CAY 6.3
      Tua IAY 7.8 CAY 6.1
      Kirk Cousins IAY 7.2 CAY 6.1
      Kyler Murray IAY 7.1 CAY 4.5
      Goff CAY 7.0 IAY 5.8
      Mahomes IAY 6.6 CAY 4.0
      Joe Burrow IAY 6.5 CAY 4.5
      It’s really statistically impossible for Carr to be checking down more than Mahomes or Burrow did last season, & I’ll guarantee Simms doesn’t say the same about them as he did Carr.
