This is revolutionary for the idea that butterflies can learn to fly with prosthetic wings. An antire realm of study and new way of looking at creatures not "run by genetics" is called for. Adapting like this is an amaizing neurological feat.

I know this is kind of a sad comment, but there's something kind of beautiful about the idea of someone finding that butterfly after it had naturally passed and seeing the feather attached and knowing that that butterfly was cared for and loved.

They get eaten bro
@@kekchanbiggestfando you think that butterflies are just immortal unless they get eaten?
@@mitziekat9987 they probably mean that some animal or insect will probably eat it after it dies. Either that or it'll just decompose before anyone finds it. But its a nice thought and I truly hope someone finds it before that happens.
@@Undercover_Cat09 they don't really decompose the way that we do. Rather, they don't "rot" they just kinda dry out and are preserved pretty nicely.

@@Crybunni_ Proof?
@@Onewiththeonces Well, From my understanding this is a Monarch butterfly, And Monarch Butterflies Weight about half A gram (0.00110231 Pounds), So there's no telling what the wing weight is. She should definitely make this into a children's story 🙂
Teaching children that life, big and small, all deserve compassion. My 9 year old daughter once came up to my husband and I with cupped hands and said she needed help. When she open them, there was a wolf spider, the size of her hands that was missing a leg. My husband jumped off the couch at the speed of light as he hates spiders. So determined that she had to save this massive furry and “aggressive“ spider made me smile so hard, we emptied out the large aquarium filled it with the necessary living arrangements and she will go outside and get live bugs on a regular basis and place them in the tank. After a little while her leg grew back slowly, and my daughter, picked her up, released her back outside in the garden, saying be more careful Cora waving goodbye crying, but understanding. We still see Cora once in a while, as females legs do regrow but it’s a slow process ❤

You gave that butterfly the best life. They only live 29 days max.
He is a Monarch butterfly... they can live for many months in diapause if he was in the late summer group that winters in Mexico. On their way back to the U.S., they will breed the first generation that will start the journey all over again. When they get to the 4th or 5th generation, then that one goes into diapause and heads back to Mexico to start the whole cycle all over again. To me, the most amazing thing about Monarchs is, how does that 4th or 5th generation *know* to go to a specific forest in Mexico to winter safely without ever being there? Not only that, but without it's parents, grandparents, or great grandparents ever being there! Their life cycle is nothing short of miraculous... just so amazing!

I hear what you’re saying, and to some degree I agree. But not everything we call “life” is a life
You wouldn’t call a chicken egg, a baby chick. Until something has been born, it’s not a life.
The beginning stages of life are not equivalent to a living being
You can call it a fetus (calling it what it is) or the beginnings of life, but before it’s been born, and taken its first breath on its own, and as long as it requires something else in order to survive, breathe, or get its nutrients, and has yet to be born into this world, it’s not a human life.
That doesn’t mean all life isn’t precious because it is.
But to pretend an unborn thing is more important, or just as valuable as a living breathing thing, is a fallacy .. no offense. Just facts.

They do say thank you. A few years ago my husband and I were traveling from NY to California. In March. Very windy. Somewhere we stopped at a rest area and found a monarch butterfly “ stuck “ between the slats of a wooden picnic bench. My hubby gently got her out and she rested there for a few minutes. We waited to make sure she could still fly and this small part of Gods creation flew UPWIND to circle my husbands head 3 times before she flew off. My husband is one of those magical sprites whom all of Gods creatures love. As I do. Bless you Albie. And thank you.

I actually once keep a disabled butterfly. I was walking from middle school to go back home and I saw this yellow butterfly. I live in Canada so idk what kind of butterfly is it but as I looked at it it's wing was torn off and it looks like someone was cruel to the poor butterfly bc it's wing was torn apart by someone. Idk how someone could do that to a harmless bug but i felt bad for it and so I carefully pick up the yellow butterfly and I put it in a jar until i found one of those bug containers you would use to capture and keep your bugs. So skip a few months later after summer break i went to go see sunshine (the yellow butterfly i rescued) to see him dead. Rip sunshine i gave you some good life even tho ur lifespan is short and i didn't k anything about it bc I was 10 years old at the time

Same!! Glue would be too heavy?
The feather would be too heavy
That’s my question how she’d do that??
People who raise monarchs en masse actually put this tiny, round sticker on their wing to help track the ones who make it all the way south.
From the north to the south, they can fly well over 2,000 miles. They're fragile, but also super tough.
If I had to guess...I would assume she'd use a pin to apply super glue to the feather, then gently press it to his wing.
Which is easier said than done. Some monarchs are super sassy, and will try to "slap" you away with their wings. So you'd have to keep him in a darker space, to get him calmer first/wait for him to be resting.
Recently, the white spots on their wings have been theorized to be part of what helps them fly. That the white spots on black somehow generate little thermal pockets to help with flight.
I think the feather is about the best thing she could do, short of trying to build him an entire new wing.
Super glue? :P
