I saved a moth twice now. When I was going somewhere I saw two moths. one was dead but there was one alive trying to get out of the pool. That moth wanted to stay on me and I saw it's cute face. About the other time it was trapped in the window but mom found a way to get it out and it stayed on the porch. It flew away but the moth I think is still ok.

We had a moth that lived in our mailbox. We called her "The Dragon" because she guarded our mail like a dragon guards its treasure. I would bring it cut cantaloupe and strawberries to eat, and we put a sign on the front of the mailbox making the mailmen/women aware of her. One day we could not find her anywhere, and we were sad that maybe she had died and the mailmen brushed her body out, or she flew away, but when we looked inside we saw a small clutch of eggs, as if she was telling us to raise the next generations of Mail Dragons. We took in the eggs and did our best, but sadly they were either infertile or we did something wrong, as they did not hatch. Rest in Peace, The Dragon. Thank you for your service, you will be missed.🥀

Do want to point out these are Polyphemus moths they don't have mouths to eat and only live about a week after coming out of the cocoon. @@YoungDymisty well it is a sudden unnatural spike of a predator into an ecosystem. The moths I can’t speak on since the other commenter said that they don’t have mouths but for frogs it would def cause a shortage of any prey that they are and would also cause the other predators that ate them to grow in population to an unsustainable amount.

When I was a kid, we went on a family trip to Michoacán to see the Monarch butterflies. They come down here for the winter, it was amazing.
It was a guided tour were we would walk on a trail through the forest but we were not allowed to talk. We had to be very silent so we wouldn't disturb the butterflies. It was a beautiful forest full of large tall trees and the trees were covered with butterflies. Thousands of butterflies, it was so beautiful. When the sun came out the butterflies would start flying it was magical.
That was more than 20 yrs ago. We never went back but I've heard that the numbers have drastically decreased.

I'm right there with ya.....I'm petrified of insects too. Once, my Uncle came up to me with a daddy long legs (not sure what they're called in other parts of the world) but anyway, as he got close to me, to show me, I literally fainted and I woke with my Aunt saying a few choice words to my Uncle 😂😅😂. I just can't! They give me the heebie-jeebies 😂
Edited to add: I'm in my 40s, so yeah, a fully grown adult who faints as a result of bugs being near me. 😂

You are great for helping them, so few would have made it if you hadn’t stepped in.

I love how they cleave to her like they're so thankful for her care for them

Remember is always important to check if it's a native species to your area.

The moths repaid her by taking over her part of the country.

I'm pretty sure a rescued moth from the wild is a native species. It's not like she bought an egg or caterpillar to raise into a moth. Not only that, but it states that she did research.

@@liscohorn9493 first thing you said was wrong.
Second thing you said is out of context since he's warning us to not necessarily imitate her and not talking about her directly
