A general rule in the animal kingdom-- if it's colorful, stay FAR away from it. It's usually colorful because it can afford to not blend in with its surroundings. It doesn't care if it's seen by things that would be predators to other animals of its size because it's either venomous and has the means to defend itself or poisonous if eaten. Just run.
Edit: I said a G E N E R A L R U L E. It's not a law across all creatures in nature, I realize this. But as a guideline when dealing with plants and creatures you can't identify, I advise you to exercise caution. Stop with the sassy little comments about birds and goldfish @_@

One day I was playing in a little pool my Uncle dug for me and the most amazing tiny creature washed up in my little saltwater pool & I put it in my bucket and played with it ALL DAY, holding it in my hand and showing everyone I could! I never knew what it was and nobody else did either, but I never forgot about it. A few year's ago I came across a similar video to this one here on YT and found out that it was the Blue Dragon and how lucky I got that I wasn't stung by it! And yes, at the end of the day I put the little thing back in the ocean and it was totally fine!!

Had absolutely no idea what we were looking at but it was obvious the little guy wasn't meant to be in the rockpool so we emptied a little container, scooped him up, took a close up photo (which I have to find now!!) and released him back into the ocean thinking it made sense. I shit you not it swam around us in a circle really fast a couple times before just hanging out nearby for hours! It seemed thankful to be home and was literally chilling near us til we left! I'll never forget it!

All the surfer's go there to surf bc for some reason the wave's are alway's at least 2 feet higher than the beaches on either side of it, there's several really small reef's in the shallow water where you can see ton's of different beautiful fish as well as certain type's of shark's and it's one of the only beaches where dog's are allowed. I used to have an army of spiders living the whole way around the perimeter of my house who did something similar - they ate the other spiders that wanted to get in past them. I miss them all so much, there were hundreds of them that I helped raise for years, generation after generation, and they were such good, smart, beautiful and absolutely fucking terrifying guardians. They would even come out of their little spider houses and let me feed them, and they could tell the difference between me and other people - never ran away from me, in fact they'd often come out just enough to kinda sit on their "front porch" while I was out there having a smoke or something, but they always scared the shit out of visitors they didn't know, lots of sudden rushes and threatening posturing - amazing to watch, even after seeing that same display for over thirty years I was living with this particular species. For about a decade, I even had my own personal pizza delivery guy because he was the only one who was willing to come to my door at all, and who volunteered to learn the "special knock" that I have always used to let my scary girls know it was me or someone I'd invited, and they wouldn't rush out from behind the door handle to attack the "intruder".
Because they ate other spiders, their already very painful venom was always changing, as well, and sometimes that meant that any one of them could deliver a bite that would lead to necrosis and you never knew exactly which of them might at any given time. They didn't just look scary, they could back it up several times over. I always felt so safe under their thousands of watchful eyes.
I hope my landlord's house is full of all the nasty spiders my girls took care of next summer, after he killed every last one of mine. It's only fair. 💔
(If anyone is curious, they were Australian black house spiders. If you're arachnophobic, however, I seriously suggest you DO NOT do a google image search, you WILL regret it.)
