I bought a 2015 Sonata turbo last year and at 68,000 miles, as I was accelerating hard onto the freeway, the engine locked up. Had it towed to the local Hyundai dealer and they ran all kinds of diagnostics, first by techs to mechanics followed by bringing in a master mechanic. I then received a phone call telling me to pick up a free rental car until a replacement engine could be installed. After about three weeks they told me the car would be ready for pickup that afternoon. On my way there, the service advisor handling my car called me and said that the tech noticed that the turbo was making a funny sound as he was test driving the car, and they would need to order a new one. I told them that I didn't have the money for a new turbo, and he said not to worry, Hyundai would pay for it. The only things that I payed for were for new accessory belt or they would used the old one. I forgot to mention that I bought the car cheap because it had a rebuilt title. It had been in a major accident in its history. Hyundai said that that had nothing to do with the engine and treated me like any other customer. All that I can say is that in my book, Hyundai rocks!
Not so long ago having a durable car which did not break under warranty was the norm and expectation. Also being treated with respect and honoring the warranty was a given and not really something that would be over happy with in a manufacturer. Today it seems customers have been conditioned to be "Thankful" of being treated with respect and honoring the warranty for something that they paid for and that having breakdowns of products purchased is glanced over due to the "service". How times have changed and how low the standards of happiness have become.
Ok my 2015 2.0t just had loud noises and p01326 code. Won't go past 1800rpm. Got used has 90k. So my ? Is was yours under warranty or covered under service bulletin, thanks

Man, I just had the problem the vehicle 2016 sonata, it shut down while driving and I thought it was the battery and alternator so I changed it myself but still didn't start, si I had it towed to dealership and they said the engine locked up now 3 days later the dealership service advisor said that hyundai wants copies of oil change records from 88,000 miles to 164,000 miles so are they assuming that I was neglecting to have oil in engine? I think thats what they are trying to say. Now I have to go to all those oil change places and ask for service records. Hyundai knows that they made this problem and kept the engine and the excessive oil burning on these a secret.
@@godgunsandkenny My 1.8 Elantra 2015 stalled and i think it made a thud noise under hood .They told me i was not on the list of recalls yet same design and piston ticking or slaping and oil pressure tensioner for timing chain clatters .Hyundai Canada said i was not on recall due to vin number ?Help!!

They are very good with warranty work and I think they are honest with their work. Hyundai has a few recalls for 2.0 motors if you are having problems bring it into your local hyundai dealer to get it looked at. Thank you for the video and your honest opinion. I appreciate your video.
A few recalls???? There are 8 million as of June 21st. They like to count each recall separately so the numbers are say 100000 instead of all the Theta 2 engines totaling 5 million earlier this year to a total of 8 million recalls when they included all of the recalls. Glad you got a brand new engine. Please look at all the horror stories.. Please dont encourage people to keep these. Sell it to somebody you hate.
Can I do that in 2024? My Hyundai Accent 2012 has no power when it starts. It goes really slow. I can’t use it for more than 10 miles or in the highway.

Your lucky. The way i see it, if a dealership has to take out a mechanic to replace engines under warranty, they get paid minimum from Hyundai. That mechanic could be put to work making money for the dealership, so i see low priority for the person holding the warranty. I would guess a long wait for most with engine problems. How many new engines that fit a 2011 does Hyundai have collecting dust.
I have a 2015 hyundai sonata limited 2.4l and I still have some free oil changes left. But after our last visit about a week after that the car is now running with no power there was a recall on it when we last visited that they took care of I guess I had diagnostic ran its the knock sensor Replaced it and still same thing going on. There was a recall on. Now they want me to pay about 200 for them to run diagnostic on it and go from there. But I believe I have the 100k mile warranty on it. I'll have to bring up this when I go see them in June. I think they want me to go over the 100k before then. Thanks for the info 👍 😀
I don’t understand I have a ‘12 Elantra gls and online, at the dealerships and on the customer support number they all say there’s no recall for that, why is that is it because I’m a second owner or I have 140k? My car still runs fine and the tics not that bad and goes away but Why won’t they do it

Just got my 2014 Sonata back from the Dealership where they replaced the long block. I am the original owner, with 147.000 miles on it, well maintained with the records. Bearings were wiped out, they tested it & did the change no charge! Service advisor told me Hyundai will replace the engine as long as I have the car for life, up to 6 motors. She also said if I give it to a relative they will honor the warranty. Can't beat that!
I’m having millions of issues with my 2012 Elantra. Knocking stalling. And I had this car for 3 years. Calling the dealership they didn’t know what I was talking about about this recall of engine replacement Ive replaced camshaft and crank shaft sensors. New injectors. Ocv bank one and bank two - also had an oil change done when needed and still having issues. Take it to car repair places and they says there’s a chance my timing is off due to timing chain. I call BS because I don’t have engine lights on. And it drives great till I get it warmed up and stills when I accelerate or stop at signs or traffic and I have to restart car which is dangerous when you are in traffic as I am in Austin Texas. Hyundai refuse to put a new engine in it. It’s not a recall. But you said you have the exact model and yet you had yours done. Can you please help me?????

So I live 3 hours away from the nearest Hyundai dealership. My knock sensor keeps turning on and I cant accelerate my car to fast or it makes a scraping noise in the engine. I have to have a car to get back home . Do they provide any rental cars when you get your car fixed?
Okay my engine is dead 2016 Hyundai as 84,000 miles on it and change. Will Hyundai pay the towing fee to get it to their shop. My 2011 Hyundai Sonata just completely died on me this past weekend. Wont crank or barely cranks over. Only after the fact did i find out about the issue with the engine. I'm praying Hyundai covers it. I have an appt. next Monday for them to look at it.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Brand new and after not even 15k in Miles I could hear noises coming from the engine I sold the car right away didn't want to deal with the dealership and before all this problem came out with these cars

Kenny here's the update. My car is still sitting home in Florida where it's hot as hell right now with a frozen engine. Ironic isn't it. So, anyway. I called not the dealership but the MANUFACTURER themselves. I told then the car issue and I gave them the vin last 8. Believably, they told me the car has no recalls just 2 campaigns to get other things fixed and they will grant me those 2 things. But my car isn't giving me problems with the two they mentioned so here I am calling a dealership to see if I can get a different answer.

How long is the warranty once it's replaced? I got my engine replaced back in June of 2021 and now it's leaking oil. I was told the warranty was only 1 year long.

So I stupidly bought one of these cars thinking the ticking or knocking was just it needing an oil change, that obviously didn’t work. I called and they said for them to check it out it will take 2/3 weeks just to check it out then it’s almost $200 an hour for them to inspect it. They also have no loaners 🤦🏻♀️ I just hope they will actually fix it for free if this is the issue.

Hyundai will not fix everyone’s Hyundai engine. Hyundai has their own loopholes to their advantage and strict guidelines you have to deal with. My dealer told me the recall/warranty is only good if your car has less than 150K on it, my 2012 Tucson has 174K. Bad rod bearings they quoted me $9000 to fix it.

@@godgunsandkenny I went to the dealership yesterday. They gave me a warranty for the engine.. saying that engines pass the diagnostic. But I ask the person an information that said that engine is good to drive and he told that until the engine doesn't die they cannot change it for me.
I brought a sonata last year it has 63000 miles and now comes up with 107000 miles so the real issue is that it burns oil too much I took it to The dealership and they've said to me sorry we can't do nothing there is no warranty on your car I'm little confused what should thank you.

I received a notification from Hyundai that extended my warranty from one hundred thousand miles to one hundred and fifty thousand miles. The Hyundai Dealer here in Charlotte NC that I took my car to for the software updates is Keffer Hyundai. When I received another notice informing me that I have one of the engines that are more likely to fail, the dealership told me that I would have to pay for an oil consumption issue and that once it was determined that the engine is in fact a defective motor. That Hyundai would repair the engine.

Hyundai service is their Achilles heal. It is horrible regardless of the dealership. However, my 2016 Sonata was part of the Ontario class action. They actually approved the new engine. Very surprised. I will still never buy another hyundai but it was nice that hassle was a min

I started having this issue in 2016 (before ever receiving the lawsuit notice) and still do. Local dealership (due to warranty) looked at it multiple times, even kept it for over 2 months, called in an engineering specialist etc and could never get it to code. Put a few hundred miles on my car and ran it out of warranty. Case manager at hyundai closed my case with the problem not fixed. They could never get it to pop a code, but my engine does everything described in the lawsuit/settlement. Ticking/knocking, stalling whether already at speed and accelerating again or even from a stop. I've had multiple cases and case managers. How do I get started to finally have this resolved? What happens if it never throws a code like before?

Hyundai had my local shop manager call, who proceeded to argue with me that this isn't the issue literally last night... he's new and not even the same guy I dealt with 5 years ago. I am looking for a different Hyundai shop to go to as these guys are incompetent, but I am having to pay for the tow since it isn't drivable and a 150 dollar diagnostics fee.

I was on my way to work when suddenly the engine light comes on flashing i took it to a gas station service center to get a diagnosis they said it needed and update or it was engine failure and for me to take it to hyundai and that’s exactly what i did i took it to hyundai and they are currently replacing my engine free of charge they said the part takes a week to ship that was last week so hopefully it’ll be installed by the end of the week
Did they just put in an exact same replacement engine that will also go bad, or do they put in an updated engine that won't develop the same issues? Thanks!!!

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Just dropped my 2015 Elantra GT(78k miles) off at the dealership this morning with what I assume is a motor issue. I would just hate for the motor to go bad again in another 50k miles. But I'm getting ahead of myself, mechanic hasn't even inspected it yet🫤. Fingers crossed it's covered with warranty. Hey I have a 2011 sonata with only 132,055 on dash and it started to knock and when I looked up the vin for any possible recalls there a bunch of them including gdi engine inspection and replacement! So do you think I should take it to Hyundai and let them deal with it???

this is a real report and my Santa Fe sport is in the shop getting a new engine replacement at no cost to me because the warranty covers it my car only had 73,000 on it before the engine blew on the road thank god i was not on the freeway this could have been a lot worse i will not be buying another Hyundai ever again i will drive the wheels off this Santa Fe before i sell it but never again will i own one after this car

They replace the short block with a brand new one. Short block is the block, the crankshaft, the pistons, the rods, and all bearings and gaskets. They have to do it. A federal judge ordered it. These engines were defective from the factory.

I bought this car two years ago, it sounds just like this, shes perfect :) too bad some asshole hit her last month, they went around a person stopped in the road to parellel park and illegally went over the double lines on the opposite side of the road so they werent in my mirrors , i pull out of parking and she comes back into into my lane where she didnt expect a car to pull into traffic!?!?! She sandwiched me between another parked car! Its been hell with the insurance co. Bc officer dumbass didnt ask me anything he handed me a warning for failure to yeild!!! I couldnt believe it!! But shes gonna get fixed one way or another, i love my car! Thank you for sharing this info!
I never got the letter and knew nothing of the issue. Had a tick and p1362 code kick in at 147000km on my 14 tucson last Sunday. Did some internet research and drove home 50km. Towed it to dealer last Tuesday. This afternoon, Friday, it was done. Hyundai canada covered short block engine replacement. My advice do the pm and keep records. Always check oil levels often. Add when necessary.

The same thing happened to My hyundai sonata 2014 just got a brand new engine with 132 k miles on it, and i paid ZERO dollars and it came with 1year warranty :)

My 2013 Sonata just got approved for a new engine on 8/1/22. Hyundai is putting me into a $40/day rental car from Enterprise. The dealership said it will take between 2-4 weeks to complete. My engine died with zero notice about 75 miles from home. Had AAA and had it towed to my mechanic who said the engine was kaput. I had heard about the recall and filed a claim with Hyundai. One month later, the repair wheels are in motion!
Your story sounds the most similar to mine. Did Hyundai reimburse you for the car rental? How many miles were on your car? My dealership tell me a turnaround time of four months

I took my 2014 hyundai elantra to the hyundai dealership today because of the same issue there. And they told me that they only cover up to 150k miles and/or 10 years. They said they can't do jack shizit. I drove all the way over there for nothing. I'm pissed

They said they only covered to 80k miles and nothing more... atleast the local dealership covered higher mileage. I called them for over 3 weeks and they keep telling me there's nothing they could do. So I guess I'm just gonna end up selling it for a few bucks. Oh well. Now I know, never buying a hyundai or a Kia ever again... ever..... lesson learned!

I just came across this video. Do you know if they are still replacing engines? Did the papers you received say that it does not matter how many miles are on the car? Do I just contact a dealership about it? My engine locked up, but I never received any papers about it (the mail service in my neighborhood is terrible, they often deliver mail to the wrong house).

I spoke to my local dealership and they told me that I would have to have a diagnostic run on the car which is $150, but if my claim was approved Hyundai would cover that. They did not seem to think their was a very good chance that it would be covered, because I am the second owner and the car has over 150,000 miles on it, but I am still going to push Hyundai to cover it because they should and I can't afford another car. Hyundai Motor America told me many different stories on denial and the last story was because of warranty. They want you to just throw in the towel and leave them alone. Kenny is right!! Do NOT give up because an engine is supposed to last with the life of the car. I am not giving up and we will be contacting an attorney in a couple of weeks if they don't rectify this with our engine. Keep calling and do not give up.

@@elpapuagl7851 I ended up paying out of pocket to a mechanic that I trust. He rebuild me an engine and gave me a 1 year warranty on it. So far so good. Not the outcome I was looking for, but I had to get my baby back on the road. Hope I can get another 5 year out of the old girl. I know one thing I will not be buying another Hyundai as long as I live. Kia for that matter too they have the same problems.

My 2015 Elantra Limited has this knocking sound so I contacted the dealer and Hyundai corp. They refuse to replace my engine! The experience so far has been terrible.

I bought a 2015 Sonata turbo last year and at 68,000 miles, as I was accelerating hard onto the freeway, the engine locked up. Had it towed to the local Hyundai dealer and they ran all kinds of diagnostics, first by techs to mechanics followed by bringing in a master mechanic. I then received a phone call telling me to pick up a free rental car until a replacement engine could be installed. After about three weeks they told me the car would be ready for pickup that afternoon. On my way there, the service advisor handling my car called me and said that the tech noticed that the turbo was making a funny sound as he was test driving the car, and they would need to order a new one. I told them that I didn't have the money for a new turbo, and he said not to worry, Hyundai would pay for it. The only things that I payed for were for new accessory belt or they would used the old one. I forgot to mention that I bought the car cheap because it had a rebuilt title. It had been in a major accident in its history. Hyundai said that that had nothing to do with the engine and treated me like any other customer. All that I can say is that in my book, Hyundai rocks!
Not so long ago having a durable car which did not break under warranty was the norm and expectation. Also being treated with respect and honoring the warranty was a given and not really something that would be over happy with in a manufacturer.
Today it seems customers have been conditioned to be "Thankful" of being treated with respect and honoring the warranty for something that they paid for and that having breakdowns of products purchased is glanced over due to the "service".
How times have changed and how low the standards of happiness have become.

Man, I just had the problem the vehicle 2016 sonata, it shut down while driving and I thought it was the battery and alternator so I changed it myself but still didn't start, si I had it towed to dealership and they said the engine locked up now 3 days later the dealership service advisor said that hyundai wants copies of oil change records from 88,000 miles to 164,000 miles so are they assuming that I was neglecting to have oil in engine? I think thats what they are trying to say. Now I have to go to all those oil change places and ask for service records. Hyundai knows that they made this problem and kept the engine and the excessive oil burning on these a secret.

They are very good with warranty work and I think they are honest with their work. Hyundai has a few recalls for 2.0 motors if you are having problems bring it into your local hyundai dealer to get it looked at. Thank you for the video and your honest opinion. I appreciate your video.
A few recalls???? There are 8 million as of June 21st. They like to count each recall separately so the numbers are say 100000 instead of all the Theta 2 engines totaling 5 million earlier this year to a total of 8 million recalls when they included all of the recalls. Glad you got a brand new engine. Please look at all the horror stories.. Please dont encourage people to keep these. Sell it to somebody you hate.
Can I do that in 2024? My Hyundai Accent 2012 has no power when it starts. It goes really slow. I can’t use it for more than 10 miles or in the highway.

Your lucky. The way i see it, if a dealership has to take out a mechanic to replace engines under warranty, they get paid minimum from Hyundai. That mechanic could be put to work making money for the dealership, so i see low priority for the person holding the warranty. I would guess a long wait for most with engine problems. How many new engines that fit a 2011 does Hyundai have collecting dust.

I have a 2015 hyundai sonata limited 2.4l and I still have some free oil changes left. But after our last visit about a week after that the car is now running with no power there was a recall on it when we last visited that they took care of I guess I had diagnostic ran its the knock sensor Replaced it and still same thing going on. There was a recall on. Now they want me to pay about 200 for them to run diagnostic on it and go from there. But I believe I have the 100k mile warranty on it. I'll have to bring up this when I go see them in June. I think they want me to go over the 100k before then. Thanks for the info 👍 😀

Just got my 2014 Sonata back from the Dealership where they replaced the long block.
I am the original owner, with 147.000 miles on it, well maintained with the records.
Bearings were wiped out, they tested it & did the change no charge!
Service advisor told me Hyundai will replace the engine as long as I have the car for life, up to 6 motors.
She also said if I give it to a relative they will honor the warranty.
Can't beat that!

I’m having millions of issues with my 2012 Elantra. Knocking stalling. And I had this car for 3 years. Calling the dealership they didn’t know what I was talking about about this recall of engine replacement Ive replaced camshaft and crank shaft sensors. New injectors. Ocv bank one and bank two - also had an oil change done when needed and still having issues. Take it to car repair places and they says there’s a chance my timing is off due to timing chain. I call BS because I don’t have engine lights on. And it drives great till I get it warmed up and stills when I accelerate or stop at signs or traffic and I have to restart car which is dangerous when you are in traffic as I am in Austin Texas. Hyundai refuse to put a new engine in it. It’s not a recall. But you said you have the exact model and yet you had yours done. Can you please help me?????
i'm so sorry to hear this about your car,thanks for sharing,yes you are right they did replace my engine,i called hyundai they fixed it in about 2 weeks, i have to tell you this ofcourse its the truth these engines are just plain junk, the only thing i can tell you is this,KEEP CALLING HYUNDAI, DON'T GIVE UP, CALL THEM EVERYDAY, THEY ARE LYING TO YOU, wishing you all the best, god bless,

So I live 3 hours away from the nearest Hyundai dealership. My knock sensor keeps turning on and I cant accelerate my car to fast or it makes a scraping noise in the engine. I have to have a car to get back home . Do they provide any rental cars when you get your car fixed?

Okay my engine is dead 2016 Hyundai as 84,000 miles on it and change. Will Hyundai pay the towing fee to get it to their shop. Andy additional $65 towing fee did I had to do last week to get the car home. I'll wait for an answer. I have talked to some Kia honors and your owner second and third. Please answer

My 2011 Hyundai Sonata just completely died on me this past weekend. Wont crank or barely cranks over. Only after the fact did i find out about the issue with the engine. I'm praying Hyundai covers it. I have an appt. next Monday for them to look at it.

I bought a 2011 Hyundai Elantra Brand new and after not even 15k in Miles I could hear noises coming from the engine I sold the car right away didn't want to deal with the dealership and before all this problem came out with these cars

Kenny here's the update. My car is still sitting home in Florida where it's hot as hell right now with a frozen engine. Ironic isn't it. So, anyway. I called not the dealership but the MANUFACTURER themselves. I told then the car issue and I gave them the vin last 8. Believably, they told me the car has no recalls just 2 campaigns to get other things fixed and they will grant me those 2 things. But my car isn't giving me problems with the two they mentioned so here I am calling a dealership to see if I can get a different answer.

How long is the warranty once it's replaced? I got my engine replaced back in June of 2021 and now it's leaking oil. I was told the warranty was only 1 year long.

So I stupidly bought one of these cars thinking the ticking or knocking was just it needing an oil change, that obviously didn’t work. I called and they said for them to check it out it will take 2/3 weeks just to check it out then it’s almost $200 an hour for them to inspect it. They also have no loaners 🤦🏻♀️ I just hope they will actually fix it for free if this is the issue.

Hyundai will not fix everyone’s Hyundai engine. Hyundai has their own loopholes to their advantage and strict guidelines you have to deal with. My dealer told me the recall/warranty is only good if your car has less than 150K on it, my 2012 Tucson has 174K. Bad rod bearings they quoted me $9000 to fix it.

I brought a sonata last year it has 63000 miles and now comes up with 107000 miles so the real issue is that it burns oil too much I took it to The dealership and they've said to me sorry we can't do nothing there is no warranty on your car I'm little confused what should thank you.

I received a notification from Hyundai that extended my warranty from one hundred thousand miles to one hundred and fifty thousand miles. The Hyundai Dealer here in Charlotte NC that I took my car to for the software updates is Keffer Hyundai. When I received another notice informing me that I have one of the engines that are more likely to fail, the dealership told me that I would have to pay for an oil consumption issue and that once it was determined that the engine is in fact a defective motor. That Hyundai would repair the engine.

Hyundai service is their Achilles heal. It is horrible regardless of the dealership. However, my 2016 Sonata was part of the Ontario class action. They actually approved the new engine. Very surprised. I will still never buy another hyundai but it was nice that hassle was a min

I started having this issue in 2016 (before ever receiving the lawsuit notice) and still do. Local dealership (due to warranty) looked at it multiple times, even kept it for over 2 months, called in an engineering specialist etc and could never get it to code. Put a few hundred miles on my car and ran it out of warranty. Case manager at hyundai closed my case with the problem not fixed. They could never get it to pop a code, but my engine does everything described in the lawsuit/settlement. Ticking/knocking, stalling whether already at speed and accelerating again or even from a stop. I've had multiple cases and case managers.
How do I get started to finally have this resolved? What happens if it never throws a code like before?

Hyundai had my local shop manager call, who proceeded to argue with me that this isn't the issue literally last night... he's new and not even the same guy I dealt with 5 years ago. I am looking for a different Hyundai shop to go to as these guys are incompetent, but I am having to pay for the tow since it isn't drivable and a 150 dollar diagnostics fee.

I was on my way to work when suddenly the engine light comes on flashing i took it to a gas station service center to get a diagnosis they said it needed and update or it was engine failure and for me to take it to hyundai and that’s exactly what i did i took it to hyundai and they are currently replacing my engine free of charge they said the part takes a week to ship that was last week so hopefully it’ll be installed by the end of the week

Ok. Thanks for the reply. Just dropped my 2015 Elantra GT(78k miles) off at the dealership this morning with what I assume is a motor issue. I would just hate for the motor to go bad again in another 50k miles. But I'm getting ahead of myself, mechanic hasn't even inspected it yet🫤. Fingers crossed it's covered with warranty. Hey I have a 2011 sonata with only 132,055 on dash and it started to knock and when I looked up the vin for any possible recalls there a bunch of them including gdi engine inspection and replacement! So do you think I should take it to Hyundai and let them deal with it???

this is a real report and my Santa Fe sport is in the shop getting a new engine replacement at no cost to me because the warranty covers it my car only had 73,000 on it before the engine blew on the road thank god i was not on the freeway this could have been a lot worse i will not be buying another Hyundai ever again i will drive the wheels off this Santa Fe before i sell it but never again will i own one after this car

They will either rebuild or replace the engine…….you do not automatically get a new engine.

They replace the short block with a brand new one. Short block is the block, the crankshaft, the pistons, the rods, and all bearings and gaskets. They have to do it. A federal judge ordered it. These engines were defective from the factory.

I bought this car two years ago, it sounds just like this, shes perfect :) too bad some asshole hit her last month, they went around a person stopped in the road to parellel park and illegally went over the double lines on the opposite side of the road so they werent in my mirrors , i pull out of parking and she comes back into into my lane where she didnt expect a car to pull into traffic!?!?! She sandwiched me between another parked car! Its been hell with the insurance co. Bc officer dumbass didnt ask me anything he handed me a warning for failure to yeild!!! I couldnt believe it!! I never got the letter and knew nothing of the issue. Had a tick and p1362 code kick in at 147000km on my 14 tucson last Sunday. Did some internet research and drove home 50km. Towed it to dealer last Tuesday. This afternoon, Friday, it was done. Hyundai canada covered short block engine replacement. My advice do the pm and keep records. Always check oil levels often. Add when necessary.

The same thing happened to My hyundai sonata 2014 just got a brand new engine with 132 k miles on it, and i paid ZERO dollars and it came with 1year warranty :)

It’s just happened to me today, is the engine recall still available? I been scared to report it to the hyundai dealership without knowing for sure if they’ll fix it for free. I also got the car from carmax

@@godgunsandkenny I called & got my car towed there, fortunately i am under the lifetime warranty for the engine. But they’re not able to look at it today or give me a rental until they diagnose it. Hopefully they replace it, thank you

My 2013 Sonata just got approved for a new engine on 8/1/22. Hyundai is putting me into a $40/day rental car from Enterprise. The dealership said it will take between 2-4 weeks to complete. My engine died with zero notice about 75 miles from home. Had AAA and had it towed to my mechanic who said the engine was kaput. I had heard about the recall and filed a claim with Hyundai. One month later, the repair wheels are in motion!

I took my 2014 hyundai elantra to the hyundai dealership today because of the same issue there. And they told me that they only cover up to 150k miles and/or 10 years. They said they can't do jack shizit. I drove all the way over there for nothing. I'm pissed

They said they only covered to 80k miles and nothing more... atleast the local dealership covered higher mileage. I called them for over 3 weeks and they keep telling me there's nothing they could do. So I guess I'm just gonna end up selling it for a few bucks. Oh well. Now I know, never buying a hyundai or a Kia ever again... ever..... lesson learned!

Thank you for this. Engine is stuck. 2015 Hyundai Sonata, appointment on Wednesday at Hyundai. Codes P1326. Told the Rep about all the issues. Having it towed to them. Hopefully I get a loaner until its fixed.

How did you get the approval letter from hyundai Corp before it got diagnosed at dealer?
thank you EVA for your comment, this was not an approval letter that i got,.it was a notice or a reminder from hyundai that own an alantra if you or anyone else bought a hyundai new you should have got the same letter. but even if you did not get it you should call the dearlership and tell them the prob, i hope ive helped you, god bless,

If it's a theta engine built in Alabama, you get a new one if you have less than 120,000 miles. 2..0l or 2.4l. engine.

I just came across this video. Do you know if they are still replacing engines? Did the papers you received say that it does not matter how many miles are on the car? Do I just contact a dealership about it? My engine locked up, but I never received any papers about it (the mail service in my neighborhood is terrible, they often deliver mail to the wrong house).

I spoke to my local dealership and they told me that I would have to have a diagnostic run on the car which is $150, but if my claim was approved Hyundai would cover that. They did not seem to think their was a very good chance that it would be covered, because I am the second owner and the car has over 150,000 miles on it, but I am still going to push Hyundai to cover it because they should and I can't afford another car. Hyundai Motor America told me many different stories on denial and the last story was because of warranty. They want you to just throw in the towel and leave them alone. Kenny is right!! Do NOT give up because an engine is supposed to last with the life of the car. I am not giving up and we will be contacting an attorney in a couple of weeks if they don't rectify this with our engine. Keep calling and do not give up.

@@elpapuagl7851 I ended up paying out of pocket to a mechanic that I trust. He rebuild me an engine and gave me a 1 year warranty on it. So far so good. Not the outcome I was looking for, but I had to get my baby back on the road. Hope I can get another 5 year out of the old girl. I know one thing I will not be buying another Hyundai as long as I live. Kia for that matter too they have the same problems.
Hey, my 2014 Hyundai Elantra needs a new short block. I brought it in and it’s under recal. They asked me for the receipts of all my oil changes. I did them all myself and did not keep the receipts. What do I do?

My 2015 Elantra Limited has this knocking sound so I contacted the dealer and Hyundai corp. They refuse to replace my engine! The experience so far has been terrible.
