I think my favorite point in the music video is kirstin's solo. where she sings with an almost deadpan face until she sings "the best ive ever had" with a smile. I dont know. it just fits the whole thing. that dreaming of such a dark thing is the one thing she smiles at through it all.
One of the perfect songs they put out in the Covid year of 2020. The other one was Thank You from their Christmas album of that year. They just know how to move your soul.....
Hard to believe that this song started life as a bit of a peppy 80's pop tune by Tears for Fears before it was covered in 2003 to it's current haunting version by Gary Jules. It was a brilliant cover that Pentatonix have redone here to make it even more haunting to fit into the lyrics.
within the first few seconds of this song, i am getting goosebumps, and almost the entire song, its making me emotional and bringing tears to my eyes Pentatonix is not like any other band/group out there
Pentatonix is THE TOP tier in making you feel all the feelings of a song. There is no other group like them. The way they tell the story of the song and make you feel all the emotions of that song are unmatched. This is one of their best. Thanks for the reaction.
One of their best. Showcases them all and Kevin is not beatboxing at all as far as I could tell. Everything about it makes it a top 10 PTX song for me.
when i was a very angsty teen the version of mad world by adam lambert was my favorite song... years later i still love this song and pentatonix' version
Another excellent reaction from you!!! I absolutely get chills every time from this song from Pentatonics. Mitch’s low voice and his duets with Matt just are ❤🔥I have also really enjoyed your Taylor videos and watching you fall down another rabbit hole 😊
I have always thought/felt the "Ghost" images in the background, were those people running in circles, to go grocery shopping, pay bills, run those errands that never completely get finished. PTX just flipped the script, usually those people are in the foreground, and the singers in the background. But here the song, the singers were the attraction, not the people.
Thank you for your great reaction to this beautiful Pentatonix video. I agree that it was brilliantly done. I'm so happy that you noticed the shadowy figures in the background of each member. It's a favorite part of the video for me. I'm amazed that so many reactors completely miss it.
Not the 1st time listening for me, but my goosebumps still get goosebumps. Some of my favorite PTX songs are ones where Kevin sings. That extra voice & note adds so much more than just one voice. It's a multiplier.
This is also one of my favorite songs/videos of theirs. I think the coupling of Matt and Mitch’s voices was wonderful. I hope that they have more duet spots that feature these two.
The whispy imagery also harkens back to the movie “Donnie Darko” which definitely enhanced the popularity of this song when it came out. It’s definitely a weird and haunting movie, but should definitely be viewed once by everyone.
I LOVE this one as well and agree with all you said. Matt and Mitch= a perfect “Match” 💜. A super catchy original song that I just heard for the first time (!) even though it’s old (2015) is called Na Na Na (audio-only). It IS one to play on repeat in your car after you’ve listened to Mad World and want to raise your spirits 😁. Highly recommend it.
My favourite parts are the Matt/Mitch harmonies. I don't know why they sound so amazing together, but they do! I'm just going to drop in another 'subtle' reminder/request to please react to Voiceplay's 'Valhalla Calling.' It's the follow-up to 'My Mother Told Me. - I know you'll love it!
I knew you would love this one! Hey, did yo 10:30 u know the original is by Tears for Fears, released in the 80's. Gary Jules covered it many years afterwards & that version is what most ppl think is the original. I know this because A. I am old(ish😉) and B. I was always a TFF fan. Fun fact: The TFF version is very upbeat! It's great in its own right. But Ptx just made me love their cover better! MOOR PTX PLEASE!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This was recorded during Covid, so all done seperate of one another. That's also the reason for the simple, but haunting, background. I love that at the very end the characters are going backward.
Scott released a new song called Flaunt It the beginning of this month! He wrote and produced it by himself, plus co-directed the music video and released it independently! It would be cool for you to react to it.
I am so glad you did this song! This is such a unique version of this song! I have always loved this cover. This made my day (today is my birthday). My next suggestions for your PTX journey are My Favorite Things and their original Be My Eyes.
They are brilliant. I was just listening to a fan cam version of their current tour concert. They are still innovative and amazing vocalists. Love this videos. Glad you reacted to it. ❤ Hope to see more soon.
Let's find you a new rabbit hole - the wonderfully impractical practical effects of OK GO, starting with the Rube Goldberg Machine version of "This Too Shall Pass"
Dude - context is everything - they created this during the lockdown part of the pandenmic. Thank You was also written by Scott during the pandemic - context context context
They did this one towards the beginning of the pandemic, so all filmed separately. Agreed, it's a brilliant arrangement and video concept. I don't think you've done any of Scott Hoying's solo work yet (just Superfruit and other collaborations). He just dropped a new video a couple days ago for one of the songs from the EP he put out last summer. This one is "Bubs", a hauntingly beautiful tribute to the puppy that he and Mark lost early last year to a rare aggressive cancer. All of his own solo work is beautiful ( a lot of it is love songs to Mark 🥰), but this one hits in a different way. The other new solo he put out a few weeks ago, "Flaunt It" is a completely different vibe-very up-beat, build up your confidence type of song!
This was one I loved right from the first few seconds of listening to it. I'd heard Tears For Fears original and the sort of ordinary/sorta happy vibe they used for the video confused me. The lyrics didn't seem to match. This cover is astounding!! It gave me goosebumbs right from the beginning. The visuals are so smart and chilling in the intensity and the haunting atmosphere they portray. Finally, there is a video that matches the depressing, haunting lyrics.
I've followed your PTX journey from the beginning and I've enjoyed every reaction. Please consider their 'Recording Evergreen' video. It's a behind-the-scenes look at how they recorded that album.
Don't know how you missed this one! It's easily one of my favourite Pentatonix covers. Those Harmonies. Speaking of harmonies, please react to more Forestella. Scarborough Fair, Shape Of You, Despacito, Sound Of Silence and Time In A Bottle are stunning. Then there's their originals. Finally, I don't know if you've seen the Puddles Pity Party and Riley Reinhardt cover of Mad World, but it's also great.
Its nothing like the original lol, Originally released in 1982 by tears for fears which was a faster electro pop number, check it out then you will be stunned!!!
Luke, I really wish you can react to Ichigo Production live concert next. There are five songs in total; Heart Kiss, Full Moon, Star T Rain, Idol and Sign Wa B, all sang by the voice actors of the anime. You can find them on Oshi No Ko Official UA-cam Channel. Definitely one of the best live concert I ever watch. It's like B-Komachi really do exist, not just a fictional idol group in anime. I really hope you will react to them soon🙏. By the way, love your reactions and thanks, Luke❤
So happy to watch you again doing PTX! Your observations and feelings for their music are always spot on. I only watch your Pentatonix reactions because I feel the same passion and feels you seem to. Plus your enthusiasm on ptx reactions is so contagious!! Just makes me happy!
FINALLY!! Have waited sooo long for this reaction and you did NOT disappoint. I knew you would love it!! This brought a smile to my face at the end of a day that was rough. Thank you...your PTX reactions are the best ❤
It may be, but that means little, the Gary Jules version is the one people know, similar to "Girl's just want to have fun" originally being done by Robert Hazard but being associated with Cyndi Lauper.
LUKE,VOICEPLAY MAN!!!NOTHING ELSE MATTERS BY METALLICA, IF I WERE A RICH MAN /GIRL, VALHALLA CALLING AND SEVEN NATION ARMY. YOU OUGHT TO CHECK THESE 4 SONG.ITS BEING A LONG TIME SINCE YOU HAVE REACTED TO VOICEPLAY. YOUR FUN FROM GREECE. ❤❤❤😅😅😊
will always watch your reactions love your approach. i feel you brother. we have same likes and interests and similar family experiences ie father with kids etc... i feel we could be friends OR lol one of us would be buried behind the others house lol i feel the first more. keep up the good work and hope you feel better soom
Great video, may I suggest a song that doesn't get a lot of reactions for some reason: Disturbed - If I Ever Lose My Faith in You [Official Music Video] ua-cam.com/video/KY8E-O7LCog/v-deo.html&ab_channel=Disturbed I think you will be impressed and maybe awe-struck as to what they did with this Sting song.
This version is beautiful, but between Tears for Fears, Gary Jules and PTX, I still prefer Gary Jules versions the most. Tears for Fears is way to up-tempo. LOL.

9:30 Especially when the camera is close up on Mitch when he sings "Look right through me." You can tell he felt that line to the depths of his soul.
Mitch felt that lyric
Absolutely!
We get a couple of little snippets of Mitch/Matt duets in this one, and it makes me want to hear more of that!
💯💯💯
A "Mattch" made in heaven ❤❤
YAAASSS @@TheInkdN3rd
Their emotional IQ has to be off the charts! Seriously their ability to make us feel is unmatched.
This was realized during Covid, when everyone already felt the world--and themselves--were going mad. Gave it extra meaning. I still get chills.
It's time for you to learn the Pentaholic's mantra, "Pentatonix doesn't do covers, they do upgrades!" Thanks for this lovely reaction. I enjoyed it.

The duet sounds of Matt and Mitch are a treat!

One of my top 10 Pentatonix songs, get goosebumps every time.
A really cool video is Favorite Things. If you haven’t already done it
This is also one of my favorite songs/videos of theirs. I think the coupling of Matt and Mitch’s voices was wonderful. I hope that they have more duet spots that feature these two.
Beautiful in its simplicity ❤
One of my favourites by them as well.
They did this song in the Covid time frame. So the slower haunting feeling is very appropriate. Thank you for reacting to this one ❤

Have I not? We will have to change that 💯
I have always wondered if the trails effect behind the singers is a callback to Donny Darko- for which Gary Jules sang this song...
Especially when they start reversing the moves
