Would be nice to discuss the impact of grip weight as well as size. Some people don’t realize there could be 30g or more difference in grips and bigger grips are not necessarily heavier.
@@madefortherangegolf - absolutely agree and that is what I was trying to say. Made that mistake once and learned the hard way. Fortunately it was a SuperStroke that I could add a counterweight to get the swing weight back.
Brings out a serious question about interchangeable shafts like we use on woods. I'd like to use a really light grip and heavy head during any of the off seasons when the greens are slow, and changing the grip to a 3.0 when the greens are fast. Would be amazing to just drop in a shaft when i wish.
Interesting to me that you had this point. I have often times found that I dislike thicker grips on blade style putter, but I like them for a mallet style putter.
Ping PP58 Midsize. Just kept grabbing different putters off the rack trying the various grips. The Ping just fit perfectly in my hands so I put it on my TM Spider. It’s been golden ever since.
I was always a midsize to larger grip player because I struggled with putting and that’s what you “should” use as a bad putter. Six months ago I did a putting fitting and was significantly better with a standard grip size. Felt a little strange at first but quickly adapted and the improved putting was noticeable in my stats.
Edel spoke about some studies into round grips on his page. Tbh from my UA-cam perusing, the putter grip discussion is a wonderland sized rabbit hole to go down. Fun though
OK, so after watching more videos like this, I don't think 'Club Champion' really captures the essence of what you guys do. 'Tour Experience Golf' seems a much more accurate reflection of the company and experience people go through with you. Who do we need to talk to in order to make the change back for all of North America? Trudeau? Biden? Let's make this happen.
I custom fit Putters. The three biggest problems I find with customers Putters are incorrect lie, incorrect length and bad setup. All of these problems can be corrected with adjustments, building a custom putter and a mini lesson.
I tried the Mezz earlier this year. The putter was good, but I went right out and bought the grip to put on my Champions Choice lol. Something about that grip just seems to fit me. Was always in standard pistol before this.
Do Odyssey putters have different head weights for a 34" as opposed to a 35"? It's really hard to find 34" putters in my country and I worry if I have a 35" cut down the swing weight will be too light and I will ruin the feel.
Hey Guys, Thanks for another great video. It would be great if you could do a video on the superstroke grip weights. They offer three different weights and it would be awesome to know the benefits and reasons for choosing a certain weight . Thank you!
Can you play with the counter weight system as well? I imagine that adding weight up in the grip will affect where you feel total weight in relation to your hands.
Silly question but is it a good idea to have to putters and switch for seasons? I use a mizuno m craft 2 blade in summer with the thin grip, works amazing on faster greens but change to a Cleveland frontline evarado with a midsize grip in winter on slower greens, don’t know why but both work better then each other on slower or faster greens, or am I just weird 😂
Round grip really works for me. I find I grip the putter the same way every time, unlike with traditional putter grips. I can never get comfortable with those flat top grips. Inconsistent for me.
Does anyone know what type of grip Ian referenced as similar to the Matador? Looks like a Golf pride pro only, but not sure between the differences between these pro only grips 81 cc 88 cc Red Star Green star etc.
Weight definitely impacts performance in terms of total weight and swing weight, That superstroke tour 2.0 is larger than the tour 1.0 but weighs less.
Bit of a nothing video this one. Essentially you’re saying try some and see what works for you. Usually love your insights but this wasn’t the most insightful/useful.
To me, what would’ve been more interesting is if they would’ve putt it on a green that had stimp more realistic. That 12 stimp practice green is unrealistic for the majority of the players and points to the technique being the differentiator not the putter.
hey guys was just wondering your take on my situation have been using a spider ex with short slant neck for about 2 years now and it has been brilliant but over the last month or 2 it has started to go a little wayward and i have been struggling the start it on my line properly been wondering if i should switch it out for a face balanced counterbalanced putter or try counterbalancing the one i own my stroke has started to get a little shaky on the way back and my friend has a putter with a thicker and heavier grip and it feels great kinda dont want to betray my baby
Ok.... I've been struggling with putter grips lately... I'm almost feeling like it's all B.S.... A good putter will make the ball go into the hole no matter what with a little practice... Just pick a grip and learn it.. Call it yours.
Honestly, this just proves to me putter fittings seem worthless. If you're confident with the putter, and you enjoy the feel, I really don't even think it matters.

Some bigger grips are even LIGHTER than their smaller counterparts 👀

100%

you can swap out grips with compressed air. no need to cut.

I found the superstroke 3.0 much more stable / easy to stabilize than 2.0 - it would have been good to go to the extreme to get a better idea.

Garsen Quad is by far the best feeling putter grip i've used.
I love feeling my putter grip completely in my left palm. Lamkin sink fit feels nice but I'm trying out the Sweet Rolls at the moment.

I just recently added a round Edel as an experiment. I liked it quite a bit

I just replaced my grip with a SuperStroke Fatso 5.0... I love it!

Something to that for sure
small grip with pistol shape should somewhat limit closure due to wrist ulnar deviation
You guys should try the Edel round putter grip, I love it! You may be surprised!
I recently installed one and I like it as well.
I put on JumboMax regular grip on putter after watching Dave Edel talk about round grips.

81 cc
88 cc
Red Star
Green star
etc.
Would love to see Quintic numbers for the LAB Link.1 !
Do we thing weight impacts performance? Putter grips vary wildly in weight depending on material.
Weight definitely impacts performance in terms of total weight and swing weight, That superstroke tour 2.0 is larger than the tour 1.0 but weighs less.
Awesome info
I was just searching for how to select the right putter grips and this pops up 👍
Do you have Quintic in Vancouver?
Yes. 👍🏼

What’s the model of the small grip?
That's the Odyssey Tour Authentic pistol 56!

Size ??? Grip large 2.0 or 3.0 traxion?
Would the discrepancies be amplified if a poor to average putter was to try the different grips?
2thumb putter grips give them a try
Why didn’t you just use SuperStroke Tour, 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0, to make the comparison even?
Is the TXG name for sale? I’ve said it before, I want the (PGA) tour experience, I don’t want to be the club champion.
No love for the SuperStroke 5.0???
Odd question, but what pants are you wearing Ian?
Lots of toe down on the first putter
Size matters 😊

Loft and lie 100% matter.
My game is surrounded by three putts
I sure miss TXG days. Show has devolved into 'watching paint dry' videos. Soporific in the extreme
Wish super stroke made a 3.0 pistol grip.
