- Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Calling All Stations team!
I'm going to be taking a back seat from content for a while, whilst I move house and start a new job. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, but in the meantime we've made a very special End Of Season/Year/Christmas Special for you all... AND it's a two parter!
Tom has set us a mission: Travel on all 16 lines noted in the key of the standard tube map including the Overground, DLR, Tramlink and Cablecar.
Part II: • 2017 Christmas Special...
Outakes: • 2017 Christmas Special...
Vote for you will think will win on Twitter! #16LinesTeamAndy #16LinesTeamVictoria
Staring:
Andy Carter
Alex Lushnikov
Victoria Hastings
David Harper
Tom Roles
For everyone who will inevitably ask:
- The map is a free to use edition made by Sameboat under Wikimedia Commons License. (The official map isn't!).
- We started at different locations to make sure we both didn't go the same way...
- We had a lot to film at King's X and Victoria... Do the clocks line up?...

Im finding these 2 videos are like comfort food - just...nice for want of a better word - probably have watched them 6 times now. Thanks to everyone involved
2023 and an updated challenge including the Elizabeth line would be nice. Id rule out the "dangle"as i think it incurs extra cost, though it does add a bottleneck
Just thought. Wouldn't it be amazing to have a : CAS v ATheS challenge special one day 😀😀
they've done it
Leary O'Brioche twice! Here are the links:ua-cam.com/video/OAV2XkPF3_A/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/TKWYd9J5VfY/v-deo.html these are from Geoff Marshall.
Having re-watched Geoff's race with you and Victoria to the Elephant I came across this challenge. Excellent! Now for part 2.
This is : Calling All Stations at it's very best. Sad you can't post much. But very understandable. Hope you're happy, and well, and settled soon. This however, is my own : Doctor Who special. I loved it. Thanks. And can't wait for more, when you can... ☺️
Thanks Leary, glad you enjoyed it :)
I absolutely love this! Why hasn't anybody thought about it before. Would be interested to see timings when it's finished so others (myself included!) can have a go ourselves
I agree this looks quite interesting to actually attempt myself at one point - of course I wonder how much time would be needed. hopefully find out in part 2
I love it. Brilliant challenge Calling all stations
If I was Andy... Quick to and fro on the tram, OG back to Canada Water, Jubilee to London Bridge, Northern to Bank, W+City to Waterloo, Jubilee to Westminster, District to Embankment, Bakerloo to Piccadilly Circus, Piccadilly to Green Park, Victoria to Oxford Circus, Central to Bond Street. RUN. Great fun Christmas vid, thanks team!!
They Could do better than that, as they've already done the Jubilee (twice)
OG to Whitechapel, District to Monument, W&C, Northern to Embankment, then as you suggest.
Or why not tram to East Croydon, and then a fast train into Victoria to mop up the remaining Tube lines: District, South Ken, Picc, Green park, Vic, Oxford Circus, Central, Bank, W&C, Waterloo, Northern, Embankment, Bakerloo to end at Oxford Circus.
Norbiton Flyer Nice. I knew there had to be a better way. I'd like to have a go at this myself. I do enjoy a pointless challenge.
How about this? Victoria - fast train to East Croydon - Tramlink to West Croydon - Overground to Canada Water - Jubilee to North Greenwich - cablecar to Royal Vic - DLR to Stratford - TfL Rail to Liverpool Street - Central to Bank - W&C to Waterloo - Bakerloo to Embankment - District to Monument - Northern to Moorgate - Circle H&C Met (one stop each, any order) to Kings Cross - Picc to Caledonian Road and back to Kings Cross. (If starting at Kings Cross, do the route in reverse, ending at Victoria) Finally, from either KX or Victoria, Victoria Line to Oxford Circus for BBC
Glad to see you back, Andy! Was worrying and wondering about where you’d got to! Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
I like it I can't wait to part 2
All Lines Challenge
Great video 👍 more please 👍
David is hilarious!!
I think his "until they open the David line" is just funny
I hate Canning Town, for someone who likes to think he knows the tube inside out I got lost there for about 10 minutes a few months back. This is a insanely good idea for a video. I reckon Andy will edge the win...
Maybe because I was distracted but I'm sure the signs didn't match the escalators. Perhaps some are reversible for crowd flow control?
I like these kind of challenges because they are very intriguing
David and Victoria went on the Northern line 3 times
Found this channel via Geoff marshal. Very enjoyable. Bet Geoff would have loved to be a part of this challenge .
It's a great video, cannot wait for part 2 and wish you all the best with your new job and house moving
Thanks Simon!
Vitoria and David I was also on your tram in the video
All the best you take care and get everything sorted.....
Taking the Emirates air line is a sacrilege.
Personally, if I was on Team Andy, I'd say they missed a trick by not getting the Northern and Victoria lines knocked out around Brixton/Stockwell. I'd've got the Overground to Denmark Hill, transferred onto a bus to Brixton and done the trams and reduce the tram distance to Merton Park to Wimbledon. It'll be interesting to see who wins though :D
Excellent challenge! Can't wait to see Part 2 :)
Really curious to know what the optimal way of doing this would be and if either starting position had an inherent advantage.
"The Dangle". Brilliant
I actually did this accidentally when i first got to london trying to get to surrey in 1991 - to the guards depot in pirbright for a map reading course (yes i failed the course but they at least arranged a taxi for me back to euston!)
I don't really go to canning town, it looks like hell. Great video, good idea
I think they have reversible escalators to manage crowd flow, but they don't always match up with the signs
All the best for 2018. BTW has anyone ever told you that you are the voice twin of Mark Kermode!
andy carter, lovely to see you running, from green park to charing cross, and going to northern line, i am sure, you have lost a stones in weight, by running, to reach in elephant 7castle? with jeff, and carol, lovely to see you?
She has great eyes
Nail biting stuff
Here's what I would've done/would do if I were Andy. Jubilee to London Bridge, Northern to Balham, Southern to Mitcham Junction, Trams to Wimbledon, District to West Brompton, Overground to Willesden Junction, Bakerloo to Baker Street, Metropolitan to Great Portland Street, Hammersmith and City to King's Cross (or vice versa), Piccadilly to Holborn, Central to Bank, Waterloo and City to Waterloo, Northern to Embankment, Circle to Victoria, Victoria to Oxford Circus
DLR, TfL Rail, Cable Car?....
Calling All Stations, sorry meant to say that's what I would've done if I were you having done the cable car, I would've followed what you did before then.
What a fun challenge!
16 lines all% set seed glitchless
How did you manage to go on a day where all of the lines were running perfectly
Andy starting at Kings Cross is like cheating because there are more lines that stop there than at Victoria.
yes but I think the core problem was Victoria and David headed to Wimbledon to do the tram and not getting the cable car out the way early too. To me seems like theres too much to-ing and fro-ing in their choices. Im wondering how quick this can be done theoretically Id imagine Andy and Ivans route is pretty close to a theoretical fastest time. Their choices seemed efficient. Anyway a good video
Why Geoff Marshall and Vicki is not here?
This is maybe the best collab video
Please
Thameslink is very fast to and from Croydon so why don't do the Overground another time
I would like you to do this much more
Dalmally is two stops from me!!! (Taynuilt is my home station)
Beautiful part of the world!
OK 1 line done
"Part II coming New Year's Day 2018"Now ten hours overdue - is there a problem? EDIT: Found it now ua-cam.com/video/xzaCX1AOjDA/v-deo.html
I think victoria was going to but andy won
It should be pure tube not tfl rail or trams
Go on Docklands Light Railway
Lower v
Anyone else planning how they would have done it?
Think Victoria is on a good track!
Why do all tube YT Channels have someone called Victoria?
Ben Jeffery law
Wait What
good luck finding a bin in Kings Cross!
