AWWW, It’s TOO BAD you guys didn’t react to the live performance at La Nit. Their chemistry together is ADORABLE (it’s easy to see they were good friends and quite fond of each other). And, Montserrat’s energy onstage matches Freddie’s… their BOTH firecrackers!
@@jpw6893 I don’t think I have! (I’ve heard some improv/outtake audio of them, quite some time ago, but I don’t remember what it was from… I’ll have to look for this!)🖖
Freddie and Montserrat did an entire album together and were incredibly close friends. And yes, she was a world famous soprano at the time they collaborated. They did the song "Barcelona" for the 1992 Olympics (Barcelona was the host city and her city of birth). Of course Freddie didn't live long enough to do it with her there.
I have got the Barcelona vinyl album I have played it a few times I'm so scared of damaging it to know I play it on UA-cam but not always sometimes I like to listen to my vinyl on my record player no matter I like 👍🏻
Theres a whole story behind Freddie talking about how she had his favorite voice and she heard about it and set up a meeting. Freddie wanted to do a song together, but she loved his writing and said lets do an album.
Anything Freddie does is exceptional but you really need to watch these together, you could just see how much they respected one another... To watch is joyous ❤❤❤❤
My favorite song off the Barcelona album! Sir Tim Rice wrote the lyrics for The Golden Boy citing that “Freddie ran out of lyrics” .. In an interview, Sir Tim Rice commented that Freddie IS “the golden boy”.
Hello, Freddie always liked opera, one day he went to see her in Montserrat at a concert and he was fascinated by her voice and insisted that they sing together. She already knew his music because her children listened to it all the time but she didn't understand how to merge both styles. After several rehearsals and musical arrangements, she accepted the proposal and they became great friends. You have to listen to the whole CD and "Like a dream". With her voice she could break crystal glasses. She was a great lady inside and outside of the show, there is an interview that was done with both of them before presenting the show "Barcelona". HUGS!!!!!!!!! • Comentarios
Freddie was an opera fan and saw her sing, word got out and meeting between two was set up and they got together to sing. Found out it worked with their voices and recorded an album. What a matchup! He was heavily influenced by Aretha Franklin. BJ did a very good job in pronouncing her name! Most really butcher it. Other songs if interested are Barcelona and How Can I Go On.
Freddie saw Montsy in an opera..was captivated by her voice...he sent her a recording of him singing (I think it was called “Exercises in Free Love”....she invited him to go to Spain to meet her...their first recording together was “Barcelona”...it was the anthem for the Barcelona Olympics the year after Freddie died....a lot of singers approached her after Freddie died wanting to sing with her...her reply was”no, only Freddie”🤩 btw Freddie never had vocal training....he started out very well...won a most beautiful baby competition...became a boxing champion...then was a graphic designer....he designed the Queen logo that you see at the beginning of some videos...also the”Flash” symbol...somebody said on UA-cam..”it’s not fair that someone should be so gifted...save some perfection for the rest of us”❤️
You need to watch the vid…live performance….please….it’s an absolute treat……after Freddie died people from the world of Rock asked to perform with Montsy…her reply was, “no, only Freddie”……R.I.P. to both of them….singing up in the stars✨⚡️💫⭐️🌟
Hi, loved your reaction. If you get a chance, you should watch the video for it. Also, I highly recommend reacting to the video, the live performance of Barcelona with Freddie Mercury and Montserrat. It’s amazing!
Freddie had a degree in graphic design with plans to work in advertising. He met Montserrat in the late 80's because she heard him compliment her and she wanted to meet him. Freddie was not professionally trained.
@@lala_sparkles8035 no I meant the members of Queen or I believe a musician connected them all , that he met in school , not her , sorry , but thanks for the info I didn’t know what his degree was in . I love him. ❤️
@@dawnyoung8I love them, too! Since about 1975! 😊 Oh, yeah, Queen members were all in college when they met. Roger and Brian were in the band Smile with Tim Staffell, and were friends with Freddie. When Tim decided to leave, Freddie joined and they auditioned for a new bass player, eventually adding John (and changing the name to Queen). They all studied different fields, no one studied music, though: Freddie graphic design, Roger biology/dentistry, Brian astrophysics, and John electrical engineering.
Hey Asia and BJ, Could y'all please react too Ferlin Husky Wings of a Dove? I'm sure y'all will enjoy it! It's an email music video request I sent y'all!
Mercuty had a decent Lyric voice, but those people who say he could have sung opera are delusional. He wasn't even close. In fact his lyric abilities are lower rate. Sorry to burst your delusional balloons, but the truth is the truth.
Lyric abilities are lower rate has to be the funniest joke I have heard in a while, Montserrat Caballe must have thought the same to want to work with him.
@@woahblackbettybamalam he was untrained but can you imagine if he had decided to go into Opera at an early age and did not do Coke and Smoke, his range was still phenomenal and is recognised as still having one of the best voices in music no matter what his critics say, I personally can't stand to hear a lot of Opera singers, not to say they were not good, just my preference in style, Montsy though had a beautiful voice.

Meatloaf and the who . But none like Freddie

I love you smiled from the beginning to the end.
Freddie and montsserat legends. Opera rock and soul
Yes you need to see them interact on stage. Freddie really brings Monty to life and lets her 'fly.'
Your smile says it all
Beautiful song and voices. Thank you.
Thank you so much for reacting to this! I love it!!
Two leyends in the stage.
Freddie can sing in his baritone voice and then switch to his strong higher tones
They also did "How Can I Go On " ....and to really See Freddie's Falsetto Range, try "Cool Cat" ...
Barcelona is another good one that they did as was mentioned before
You can find all Freddie's world in this piece of music.
