Nobody ever talks about what makes the San Diego Zoo really special. All zoos have animals but they do not have the incredible variety of plants. It is the landscaping that makes it special, it's like a giant a botanical garden.
I currently work at the San Diego Zoo as a caricature artist and the best time to visit the zoo is in summer. In summertime we have lots of nighttime shows: animal presentations, African live music band, an acrobat show, and a big parade right before closing. In summertime we are open from 9 am to 9 pm. So come visit the zoo this summer, you're going to have a good time and get your caricature drawn by me.
Got married this year and we did a huge Southern California road trip, ending in San Diego. The zoo was such a great experience - one among so many. Missing it here in rainy, cold Ireland right now!
This was super helpful and you saved me about $300, I plan on taking my 4 kids to the zoo in October while my husband is busy with a conference. I had no idea that kids were free in October, I checked and still valid for 2024
I'm glad you mentioned the multi-day passes. When I went to pay for my tickets at the zoo, the person taking tickets told me not to expect to see it all in one day. Another zoo that's of the same, or near, quality as the SD Zoo but not as big is the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska. That zoo can be visited in one day.
Went there and Sea World back in 2019, kiddos loved it. Last month went to go check out San Diego Zoo Safari Park. Pretty worth it going there for sure.
Thanks for the video! I just went to the San Diego Zoo on Thanksgiving Day. Loved getting to see a tiger up close! Definitely worth the money. San Diego is my favorite city in all of California!
I’m a big fan of the San Diego Zoo, IMO one of the best in the world, at least from the ones that I’ve been to, and I’ve been to many. Thanks for the informative and entertaining video. I’ve been to the SDZ many times, but one always learns something new from your excellent presentations.
Hi Chris. Thanks for the fabulous info on the San Diego Zoo. I j love that it has a lot of open space for the animals to feel more in a natural habitat. That 3 day pass is a great deal. You have a chance to visit 3 different attractions. But I would probably need 2 days for the Zoo. It's such a beautiful place. Definitely a place to visit. Take care.
Hi Chris, thank you for being so gracious when I met you at the zoo. I really enjoy watching your vlog and appreciate your helpful travel tips!!!! Cheers, happy holidays to you and your family!!!!
I didn't get a chance to check out the San Diego Zoo when I went to San Diego back in August, but I was able to visit Balboa Park right next to it. I do like how the parking around there is all free. I'll have to check out the zoo one of these days!
One of my dream destinations. I havent been because, i need to find other reasons to go to San Diego other than the zoo to make me feel like it's worth going. But one day.. 😅. Great video 👍
Can u bring lunch boxes, not sure if those are considered coolers, if possible someone please answer ASAP, I'm going to San Diego for a week starting the 16th and would like to be as prepared as possible
last time i went here was summer 2019. i will be back for a wedding in april 2024 and will come back. has anything changed since then? thank u so much for the video.
I heard pandas are coming at the end of this summer and I'm excited to plan a trip to visit those pandas as well as other animals in this amazing zoo. I wonder if I can just take an uber to get to the zoo if I stay in downtown San Diego and catch an uber back. Not sure if there are decent amount of ubers coming into the zoo area to pick people up.
So there you are in front of the elephants. And the really cool thing about those guys is that they have really, really, really long trunks, and that's cool. And that's pretty much all there is to say.
In most of December you can stay late at the Zoo and they have additional nighttime shows. The Zoo also has red pandas, much small and cuter and more active than the black and white ones.
Unfortunately I believe it’s by far the most Expensive zoo in the USA…locals thankfully are pretty lucky as yearly passes are quite affordable, even now
They just did a multi million $ rebuild of the "children's" area. There are a lot of interactive features for kids to engage with like a rope bridge and dancing fountains. The exhibits have a lot of insect displays and educational exhibits in some beautiful architecture. It's near the new walk thru butterfly building and the komodo dragon enclosures. No petting because of health concerns.
@@SanDiegoArtNut I have not been to the zoo in a long time. When I was growing up you could get into the zoo for free if you were 16 years old or under. I guess it is time for a visit. I always loved the children's area.
Can you do a video about SeaWorld Orca show, dophlopfine show and a lot of fun stuff and can you show you doing some rides on video and the full shows please have a good day
Recommend parents avoid taking children to the Bonobo exhibit - they seemed intent on maximizing the craziest freakiest behavior and also seemed to target children! Yikes, do not recommend. Their behavior is likely affected by their smaller blander area, not at the same level as other well done areas. This likely makes their behavior more bizarre and compulsive than it would in the interesting varied wild. It made me understand why it was so hard to find in the park.

How does one maneuver through this obstacle with 3 children. Thank you

My nephew loves this zoo I’ve taken him 3 times each time we visit he loves it more and more. Takes the whole day to explore the park it’s worth it.
Awesome!
Been there! Don't ask, just go! A Top 3 zoo, perhaps the very best in US.

@@YellowProductions San Diego Zoo is my favorite, but I really enjoy the Bronx Zoo, as well. Some of the European zoos are pretty cool, too.

My pleasure Phil!
This zoo looks amazing. We have a nice zoo here in Indianapolis but nothing like this.
I haven't been to yours. But yes. The San Diego zoo is quite big!
jusg went there today, took a lot of breaks but it could be done in about 4 hours
Such a helpful video!
Glad it was helpful!

The zoo is beautiful
If I purchase a ticket online, can I skip the line or do I have to still get online to redeem?😊
If you buy an annual pass online you still need to stand in line... but if it's a 1 day ticket you should be able to go straight in

Yup! Planning to visit the Safari Park in January
And can you walk though the museum in SeaWorld
Is it worth going during cold weather?

We just got our annual passes 😉
I had an AMAZING omelet at Alberts restaurant once.
Mmmm
My recommendation: go to Safari Park, too! Great zoo , absolutely worth it to visit. Do not miss it!
Thanks for the tip Oliver! I'll be doing a Safari Park vid in the new year!
I went to the zoo in June and was absolutely awesome. $70 was a bit steep but was fun. Unfortunately the polar bears weren't there ):
Now you got to see the polar bear to complete your zoo experience :)
I thought it was a lot cheaper than Disney.
pandas are back btw
Thanks for the update!
Is there still a children's zoo in the zoo?

does the tour bus drop you off at the zoo?
The busses I showed in the video go around the inside of the zoo.. they don't take you to the zoo
