“WHATEVER FLAVOR OF YARN YOU WANT…….” I loved that so much. Well done!!
This beret is adorable! I'm looking forward to knitting this after I finish my first project
Thank you!
For my reference (lmk if i made any errors!)
1) Cast on 72 stitches
2) Knit One, Purl One until piece is 2 inches long (rib look)
3) Knit one round
4) Knit 2, make one for one round. 72 stitches --> 108 stitches
5) Knit one round
6) K 18, make one for one round. 108 --> 114 stitches
7) Knit one round
8) K 19, make one for one round. 114 --> 120 stitches
9) Knit 2 rounds
10) Knit 13, knit 2 together for one round. 120 ---> 114 (112?) stitches
11) Knit 2 rounds
12) Knit 12, knit 2 together for one round.
13) Knit 2 rounds
14) Knit 11, knit 2 together
15) Knit 2 rounds
16) Knit 10, knit 2 together
17) Knit 2 rounds
18) Knit 9, knit 2 together.
19) Repeat above steps until 16 stitches remaining
20) Take working yarn, feed through loops. Pull tight, secure with a knot on the inside.
21) Weave in ends.
From step 13 on it’s just one round of knitting , not two. This until the end.
cast on 72 with a size 7? it came out small
I tried the pattern, the author of this comment is right, point 10) should read 112 st. (8 sets of 12+2) not 114. Thanks @nm541 for the written pattern Thank you Kerry for sharing on UA-cam. For those who find the cast on stitches produce too small a hat, please check your gauge. It may seem small but when fitted, it provides some tightness for hat to stay. Besides when hat is worn over time, it will get looser. Just my personal experience with this pattern. Happy knitting everyone!
How much yarn did you use?
Love the lip and matching hat. Thanks for the tutorial.
Thank you!
I agree about berets! I knit many of them, including four red ones-one being for my granddaughter’s American Girl doll, during this past year. For St. Patrick’s Day, 2020, I knit 8 for presents for the St Patrick’s Day party I had to cancel-but I gave everyone their beret or hat. I am definitely going to knit your pattern asap! Thank you, Kerry. ☘️
You're having too much fun doing this! Love the beret and its color. The background music is entertaining as well. Great instructional video done by a lovely young lady! :-)
I like this beret, cause it's summer,
I've made two of these now! My second one I used a twisted rib instead just because my normal 1x1 rib felt a bit too wonky for my personal liking, but it's such a nice hat regardless. I collect berets, like a lot of them but sometimes there aren't any in the colours that I want, so I can now knit my own!
Medium weight yarn, 300 - 425 yards
Size 7 cable needles and set double pointed needles
1. Cast on 72 stitches onto cable needles
k2P2 or K1P1
ribbed head band in round or flat and join into round before proceeding
2 . Knit all 72 one round
3. First increase row, *K2, Make1 (M1)* =108 stitches
4. Knit all 108 stitches
5. Second increase row *K18 Place Marker (PM) M1*=114 stitches
6. Knit all 114 stitches
7. Third increase round, *K19 PM M1*=120
Continue in reply
8. Knit 3 rows all 120 stitches
9. Begin decrease rows
10. Between each marker(PM) *K19 to PM, K2tog*
11. Knit row
12. Between each marker (PM)*K18 to PM, K2tog*
13. Knit row..
Continue decreasing switch to double pointed needles when cable needles becomes to long to use. Decrease between PM until end up with 2 stitches between each marker. Run yarn through final stitches, pull and finish off tail yarn on inside.
Would’ve loved if this tutorial had time stamps so I can follow each step in order. And also slower demos when you show yourself knitting a step. I’ve made so many mistakes, but it’s a learning process! I appreciate the amount of work you put into making this video for us😊
Thank you for the feedback! I’ll do exactly what you recommended in future tutorials!
I enjoyed making this , thanks for sharing !
Thank you for this easy to follow video. You look great .I will definitely knit one or two xxx
Well produced tutorial for a small project. Love the final product! Very cute.
Definitely will mAke this! Thank you
This is my pallet cleanser project, I’ve been crocheting lots recently and planning to knit some jumpers over Christmas but this is going to be wonderful to use up some fingering weight and mohair yarns. New Sub here, love your videos, happy Christmas 🎄
This beret was very cute ,I hope you are planning on more projects I love watching when some one makes stuff on a prodcast , I've been knitting since I was 10 or so and I still have problems understanding directions on a patterns cause where I live no one knits that I have ran in to, so keep up the great patterns, thank Diane Ps, would it be possible if you can do the flex sweater everyone I see doesn't finish the increases I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not the pattern is on tin can knits but I'm still having problems with it thank you. once again Diane
Tried this but freestyled it a bit... It turned out quite nice! I added a pompom too hehe. Now I'm trying a second time without so much freestyle (cause mine looks a bit too bumpy! Should have trusted your instructions!) easy to follow tutorial and great energy. Keep on the good work! Xx
Hi ! I'm new to knitting, how long should the cables of the circular needles be?😊
Nice pattern Im going to make it in wool next time.
Amazing tutorial, thank you! If I wanted to change the size of yarn/needles, in multiples of what would I have to start for the pattern to still work?
Love it!!🥰
I love it!❤🙏🏽
What yarn did u use?
Hi Kerry, if was to make the hat a little larger, how many stitches would I cast on?
You are SO pretty!
Thank you so much! You’re too sweet!
So cute💖
How can i adapt this to my 3.5mm needles :c
Looks easy thanks for video tutorial. I am making a berret hat for a friend and myself. Love your lipstick color 💕
Hi ! I'm new to knitting, how long should the cables of the circular needles be?😊
I typically use 10 in and 16 in for the most part.
Ok i tried it 😊i think it turned out nice i combined pink hygee yarn and red hart pink variegated yarn 🧶 its fuzzy and cute. I just had hard time with hygee because it was two strands at a time. I enjoyed this thank you very much. Merry Christmas 🎄
Will 16 inch circular needles be long enough?
Do you knit knit rows to a certain width before you start to decrease?
I’d like to make it from bulky yarn. Size 6 with size 11 & 15 needles. How can I convert this pattern to using those materials?
I made it and love it❤❤❤❤
Yay! That’s awesome!!!
Super cute! Is the pattern written down somewhere?
I have been looking for a good beret pattern that was simple (beginner) and even the beginner ones I found just were too difficult
Does anyone have the model written down? English is not my language so it's complicated to understand it orally...
So bc I’ve been making one and knitting from the front, that’s why my mittens have holes like lace?! Thanks!
When I k2 inc I only come up with 98 stitches. What am I doing wrong?
I made this hat with #7 needles and DK weight yarn. I followed your directions exactly! The hat is tiny and I don’t think it will even fit a child. What did I do wrong?
Maybe you should make a gauge first. It's what I did. My yarn and size needles are different from her but I'm following the tutorial with my own size / stitches
I also knit mine on size 7 US, with a medium weight yarn. It is a child size. A very small child.
she is using Worsted Weight #4 medium yarn that could be one problem. You can also increase your stitches to 86 this will fit an adult head size with regular hats...not sure how 86 sts will do for a beret. I have made hundreds upon hundreds of hat but just going to start a beret. Will have to come back and let you know how the increase works. Good luck with your beret. :)
do you have any written instructions by chance?
Is there a way of upsizing beret. I have a larger head (59cm). Adding more stitches at cast on rib? How many?
Have you ever made a felted beret? I would love to see your take on one
No I haven’t! I have never felted anything before!
@@KerryDoesThings I recently felted a tam, it was honestly really fun
How much yarn did you use?
I like it
Lol. When i first clicked on this video, i actually didnt realise you are NOT Evelyn Wood, of the YT sewing world, until you started talking. I was thinking she had put out a knitting video, lol.
Is this knitted in every row after the ribbing at the beginning?
Yes it is!
How much wool do you need for this beret please?
You could probably make those work.
Hey would 80cm needles work
Yes! With that length, you can do magic loop knitting
Background music slaps
It’s a little spicy
@@KerryDoesThings spicy is good. We love spicy beats
It's haaaaaaard
That’s because she’s not giving proper instructions.
I thought it was hard too until I followed Kerrys instructions and amazing I finished one😳. Yayah I'll be making more with different colour yarns. Love it 🥰. I'm sure you can do the same too. Just try following her instructions
@@whatever-ql5ns How come she doesn't give the right instructions? Can you develop?😊
gonna make this and add white spots because mushroom
That is such a good idea!
Is there a way to make it bigger? I finished mine but I feel like it's kind of small for my head because the wool I used isn't as chunky
I would add 8 stitches at the beginning and adjust accordingly.
@@KerryDoesThings Ah, okay thanks!!
@@KerryDoesThings Yes!! This worked so well and I'm super excited how it turned out thank you so much!
What size yarn? I use 6 and mine is huge. 😭
I used medium weight yarn.
size 7 us or mm?
US size
I got the whole thing but apart from why there was 4 knitting needles at the end? Could you explain that for me please 🙏🏼 I’m trying this for the first time ❤
I find the double pointed needles easier to work with when knitting in the round with very few stitches. It’s a personal preference and you can absolutely use round needles instead.
Nice video but you dont mention purl rows.
It's because you don't go back and forth but around.
@@rachelvought490 In the ribbing
@@hazelsmith8701 the top half.
This was the most "trust the process" project ive ever made
I used 5mm Dpns and worsted weight yarn and it turned out perfectly
I’m glad you stuck through the journey! Enjoy your new hat!!!
Cute you😎
Seriously disappointed this is just an intro and no tutorial an no link either😢
