    Thanks for the review, it was really helpful for me. I have a similar dual-carry configuration setup, and it was nice to see the 24-70 fitting in there. Smart to put the divider at the bottom for some extra padding in that case. Bonus points for dual camera/kid carry example.

    Nicely done review. I had this bag for a while and it was great for casual carry and walking around. Often though I am sort of working from the car and just want a bag to sit on the seat or maybe a table when indoors and to reach in and out of and found the sloping bottoms on all the peak design sling pretty much required the bag to lay flat rather than zipper up. I eventually switched to the Ona Rockaway, much as you did and got a bit more room as well as a more squared shape which stands zipper upwards nicely when working from a car or table.

    Awesome! Swapped the 10” for this 3L, as you discussed it’s nice to have a tiny secure sling back that holds the bare essentials with a camera or just a tiny edc! Subscribed from Brisbane, Australia 🤓

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching! Let me know what you think about the Instinct Pro. I’ve been considering that vs the 6L Peak Design sling.

    • @rockmanchriz5569
      @rockmanchriz5569 3 роки тому

      @@ItsDesmond the Instinct Pro definitely has better external fabrics which are rugged and waterproof, while PD has only normal nylon with decay-able water-resistant coating. The coolmax fabric on Instinct’s back panel and strap is soft and smooth, but PD, despite having a thinner padding, has a good length adjustment mechanism. Instinct Pro is having more small pockets for filters/SD cards/batteries, so it’s great for organisation. The PD may have a very great divider for stacking up short lens, but I dont have many. I only carry a Sony A7III with 2 medium lens. As I usually carry my water bottle with me, so the elastic external pocket of Instinct Pro is a plus. Also, I can carry my tripod with the Instinct bottom webbings and have my windbreaker at the side webbing.
      All in all, I think the Instinct Pro is very well built with lighter and more rugged materials. With more detailed organisations, I can also use it as my tech + camera pouch given the strap can be removed. So at the end, I have chosen the Instinct Pro. After months of use, I really love how it works. The materials and construction also hold up very well.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +1

      @@rockmanchriz5569 that’s awesome! Love the detailed insight. Thanks for taking the time to cover all those points. I’ve been watching some reviews on the Instinct and will definitely consider picking one up as a medium sized sling option. I also saw the white color way...looks pretty sleek 🔥

    Great review! I have the blue 6L and love it. I attach my tripod to the bottom. I consider myself a Phonetographer, but I do use my Nikon DSLR in the bag as well. I have the PD Leash and Cuff, but I see you have the Capture clip on the bag. Do you ever walk around and leave you camera in the clip? I was think about weight wise and comfortability.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +1

      That’s awesome. Have definitely been considering grabbing the 6L as well. For the 3L and the capture clip - most times it feels pretty redundant using it. It’s almost easier to just slip the camera back into the bag when on the move. But I have used it a couple times where I’ll clip the camera to the bag and still be able to shot from the hip or with the screen - that only if I forget my wrist strap and I’m in situations where I might drop my camera trying to get the shot. Other than that - I would say the capture clip on the 3L isn’t very useful.

      @@ItsDesmond just came across your review, I really want to pick one of these up, but struggling w 3 v 6; I have made the mistake before of buying too big and too small; Looking for something that would double as an EDC minimalist camera rig set-up (a6000 plus one wide prime or my 28-70) as well as my "personal item" on a plane for travel (think phone chargers and a kindle or ipad, snacks etc) as well as a non-shooting day EDC.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +1

      @@shantytownbrown hey great question - this is definitely small enough to carry as a personal item on the plane - what I might recommend - to maximize what you can carry under the seat, is to pair this sling with a back pack. That way you can bring your camera gear and store this sling in your back pack. When you get to the hotel - just take out the sling and leave your extra gear you don’t need behind at your hotel. I do something similar to this with my travel carry

      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks again for watching and another good question. No the capture clip is not going to balance well on the strap of the 3L sling. You’ll have more luck leaving the capture clip on the included mounting points. If you’re looking for lens and accessory carry - you could check out the peak design lens attachment for the capture clip - that will let you lock lenses to the capture clip for easy switching.

    Very interested in this sling. Really on the fence about it as I'd like to carry a Tamron 70-180 lens which is about 6" in length vs the sigma 24-70 which is 5". Do you think there is another inch of clearance for this lens or should I go with the 6L and be able to pack my 28-75 and 70-180?

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +1

      Hmm it would definitely be a tight fit. With the 24-70 - there’s already no room for lens hood. So with the larger 70-180 - I would say the 6L is a good option. That way you could bring an extra lens and even have room for batteries etc.

  • @tanmaysakpalofficial
    @tanmaysakpalofficial 9 місяців тому

    Can you put the Camera + 24-70 lens in a top down fashion ? like the lens facing bottom of the bag? That could potentially free up some space for a couple of primes on the other side right? Or is it too tight ? I wanted to know if I can do that with a6700 + tamron 18-300 lens so that I can fit in some other primes to the side or an action cam maybe but I am not sure as the tamron 18-300 apsc lens is quite long too(12.5cms)

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  9 місяців тому +1

      If you just have the 24-70 vertically and the camera body with a smaller lens would fit. I’m now using the newer 24-70 GMII which is much smaller than the Sigma.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому

      Hey good question. I think it’ll fit but be a bit tight. The 28-75 is shorter than the 24-70 and there’s definitely some wiggle room left in the bag when I’ve got the A7riv and 24-70 combo.

    Hey man, good review! Did you try out the 6L variant? I'm looking for the magic goldilocks dad-bag that lets me stash a few snacks & epipens for my two kids plus my mirrorless (Nikon Z50) & an extra compact lens without being too bulky. My messengers are too big, my current Timbuk2 sling just a shade too small.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +2

      Thanks for watching, Justin! I did have a chance to check out the 6L but haven’t had any extensive time with it though. But I think with the 6L you should be able to fit a good amount of gear. Especially since it does have more depth - so you could place the Nikon in vertically and still have enough space your other essentials. Peak does a good job of keeping the profile of the bags pretty slim. I think a boxier alternative might be the newer Peter McKinnon Sling bag or maybe the Moment Sling.

    • @ItsDesmond

      Those are both really nice and compact lenses. That combo - paired with like the super crop mode on an A7 should give you a pretty versatile focal range! Solid options there, Sebastian. And since those are both relatively small - I can imagine they would both fit in the 3L sling. Although I don't carry my 85mm Batis with me as often - only cause the kids don't hold still for those tight shots.

    Question for you. How do you compare this to the Alpaka bravo sling in terms of comfort? Also this seem a lot bulkier than the bravo go sling. Thanks in advance.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому

      Good question. This is definitely a bit bulkier - but for good reason. The bag holds a shape that allows easy access and storage of camera bodies and lenses. Normally something like a mirrorless or DSLR body. The Alpaka Bravo Sling - isn’t specifically designed for that. So it’s tough jamming a mirrorless camera into that bag won’t work very well. It’s really not designed for quick or easy access to something as specifically shaped as a camera.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  3 роки тому +1

      Thanks, James! Yeah that’s a tough decision. Normally I use the 3L as my grab and go bag knowing I’ll eventually come home with footage I can edit on my iPad. But it’s also cause I use a larger backpack when I DO NEED to bring my iPad or more gear with me (Peak Desing Everyday Toteback) I’m finishing up a review on that today actually.
      I use a few different bags and set ups depending on what I plan to do for the day. I like a smaller set up. But if you’re gonna go with 1 bag for everything + iPad - I think the 6L is perfect - and you can carry more gear.
      Might even be worth heading to a Best Buy and checking them out side by side. I’ll do that sometimes just go get it in my hands. Makes all the difference.

    When you have it cinched tight to your back and you bend down to tend to your children, does the bag swing around to the front and get in the way or does it stay in place? I have other sling bags and camera on cross body straps that that do this.

    • @ItsDesmond
      @ItsDesmond  2 роки тому +1

      Hey. Great question. If it’s cinched tight - then no. It does a great job of holding onto the body and staying in place. But if there’s any room between you and the bag - because it’s so small and the weight is so centered - it will definitely swing with gravity.

      Hey good question. So both the A6400 and the Tamron 17-28mm are shorter in length. Than that entire RIV + 24-70 sigma. No real issues with lint. As with any black bag - dirt and other things might show up more clearly but the materials of this bag make it very easy to clean. Just don’t wipe it down with anything like tissue paper that can leave behind those tiny little fuzz balls. Some water and a towel 👌🏽 very easy to clean and keeps up great over time.

      Hey Raychard. The only backpack I’ve tried that would be able to handle the ronin or the Weebill is the Pgytech Onemo. I ordered it because I wanted a backpack that could hold all my gear - two bodies and tripods etc.
      Unfortunately I did not love the design and the clunky shape. But it was amazing how much it could hold. There is an outer pocket on the Onemo that is perfect for a gimbal. If you don’t mind the size - that backpack can easily hold the gimbal plus all your gear.
