To anyone who finds this hard to play, dont give up be patient, when i first picked up the strat i thought it was impossible to play this, 2 years later i breezed through it and can play any song that has a lesson on it, keep practicing and you will unlock abilities as you go
I started to play after 25 years gap, due to corona lockdown. When I was teen, I used to play a few basic chords songs only. I started to practice 3-4 hours every day, and the first song I started to learn was way harder than Santana - it was Sultans of swing. It was unimaginable at the beginning that I could make it. But I was making progress every day, and after a few months I learned the whole song including two solos. Now I played it excellent. Then I learned Highway star and Harvester of sorrow and The frayed ends of sanity. I was amazed with my progress. A few days ago it cross my mind to learn Black magic woman. In three hours I learned intro solo and chords, I recon in two other days I will learn the second solo. So, don't give up, just practice every day and the results will be so good!
Thanks, I needed the encouragement ! I am 2 years into playing the guitar.. I have come a long way, but getting better. Hope to just be half as good as Marty eventually.
So true, also don't listen to people who brag about "learning this in 36 seconds after playing guitar for 2 weeks". I play for 2 years now almost every day and I hate these comments. It takes time and commitment. Don't let your ego kill your passions...
@@muddyboots-macI played back in the 80's. A few gigs but mostly free parties and garages. Never learned to get out of the box Life happened and music stopped. Had to climb tower's to pay bills and my two legged hunting. Well I fell a few years back off a utility pole onto a boulder and just blew out my rib cage, spine, cheekbone, spit out 24teeth engulfed in blood from my punctured lungs. I was close to finding what's waiting for us after our last breath. Anyway, can't work anymore so I purchased all kinds of nice stuff to get back into music. I'll soon be 60. Hey, we still have many years to give it a go. If I'm enjoying what I am playing, that works for me. My hands hurt a little but nothing I can't get over. Peace from Philadelphia
This was my grandmas favourite song she always wanted me to play it for her but unfortunately she died this morning and I never got to play it for her I’m learning it now thank you Marty for this lesson
I could play this in my teens. Now im re learning at 33. I wish I had never stoped playing. Marty is really making my reintroduction to guitar SEAMLESS! Thank you so much.
Great instruction.. Even As a total beginner this helps alot. Even if I cant play through the whole lesson yet, just seeing the techniques is a huge help.
Brilliant lesson Marty! For me, the pacing is perfect. Learn a little, roll it back, hear it in context, do it again, slow it right down, speed it up, learn a new bit and start again. Don’t change!
This is so much harder to play for me than expected. I'm covering it with my band Papa Muse. It exhausts my hand lol. I've been hitting pause and rewind more times than I can count lol. Thanks Marty.
This was the very last song I worked on by myself to surprise my guitar instructor! Sadly, things came up that made that lesson turned jam session my last lesson. Shortly after, my instructor moved away from the area, but that last session, and this song makes a very happy memory for me! Thanks Marty!
You are an amazing instructor. This is how I like to learn with a lot of detail and a lot of repetition. Can’t say thank you enough. Your teaching style fits me perfectly
What a great lesson again, Marty!! Thanks a lot!! Wrote my own tabs according to you for better memory. Now I'm playing the song by heart after watching this video for just three or four times. :- )
I just wanna thank you because this lesson helped me A LOT with bends, solo's, hammer-on, pull-of, I wasn't good at any of them but now I am really imptoving with this lesson so, thank you!
Marty, I really get a lot out of your lessons. You move them at the perfect pace for me with the right amount of reinforcement/ repetition and then alway go back to tying it together again before moving to the next section. I love this one and how you have broken it down. Thanks!
This video right here. Is where i got an inspiration to buy an electric guitar cause when marty play the rhythm part i just fell in love with it. The guitar still with me since 2018
Thant you Marty! Never was a big fan of Santana but it played on the radio and I just had to learn it! First time I play something on the guitar that actually sounds like music (kinda). The tip of my ring finger however hurts like never before!
black magic marty, man , if you only knew ... all this started in tijuana, mexico years ago. And when you get to hear the sound live its feels like...magic. thanks for this video. cheers
Thanks for the videos. In the future could you show us the gear, i.e., pedals and their settings you are using for each lesson to obtain the sound and/or list them in the description (Obviously, we know the guitar and amp). Thanks.
Damn Marty, You are GOOD !!! You demonstrate everything and it seems so simple (but, of course it's still a bit hard for me) but, I play it over and over until I catch on. I don't get frustrated I just do it until I learn it and then move on to the next step ! You are MY favorite teacher and I cannot praise you enough !!!!! Thank you !!
Took me till now since you uploaded for me to get this down, but I finally got it all and it's by far the hardest thing I know how to play, and it's so fun! Thanks a bunch!
Excellent work Marty! Such a patient and thorough teacher you are and now I think I’m finally getting my head around it after so many years of playing a different way, I might finally be able to play it more correctly!😂
Thanks so much! You have been such a great help, I’m now a subscriber. I had been trying to play BMW using the Dm pentatonic and l was chasing Santana up and down the fretboard. The string bending, hammer on and pull offs provide higher fidelity to the song and don’t require superhuman fingering!
Well played sir. I have tried for the past 20 years to learn this. You make it look so easy and attainable I’m going to give it another go. Cheers Marty. 👍👍👍
Thank you Marty for all the free learn to play videos. I would have never picked up the guitar and got serious about learning if hadn't been for you. thanks again. peace
Marty this song is awesome!! My fingers are screaming at me and my wife is Humming black magic women in her sleep. Thanks again. Love your channel. Your teaching an old man to play guitar.
thank you Marty..Bought my first guitar at 50 years old and had never played in my life. I have been following you for 4 years now and can play so many songs now. And have accumulated 12 guitars and now i can play this song also. Is there a part 2 for the other soloing ? If not .PLEEASSSEE
I have learned alot of different songs from you You are a kind person I just love you and Jake Reibart.Been taking lessons for Five yrs.I hope you continue to stay on line. Thanks a billion for having the heart and patience to explain everything slowly giving people a chance.♡Why do good guitars sharpen or flatten out?Stay safe Mr Marty.

Damn it. Broke my B string tryna get them bends lolol
same
Yeah wtf same here. The fuck!
gotta get those Ernie Ball strings!
Benjamin Ray get the Ernie Ball Slinky Strings, they wayyy much easier to bend and will not break
LOL!! I did not break the guitar string but it cut my finger!!

Thank you for this awesome lesson!!! Years later and it’s still teaching people how to play great!
Looked up the tab and there seemed to be no way I was gonna learn this without your help... You're one of the most helpful people out there Marty.
This is so much harder to play for me than expected. I'm covering it with my band Papa Muse. It exhausts my hand lol. I've been hitting pause and rewind more times than I can count lol. Thanks Marty.
That sounds more authentic than the other way I learnt this. This way you aren't moving your fingers around too much. Good Lesson.
I finally get it!!! The "Black Magic Woman Guitar Lesson Part 2," was the friends we made along the way
One of the best tutorials I've seen on youtube, so clear and easy to follow especially when I adjust the video speed from normal to 0.75.
Your playing is great, Marty. You really nail the sound and feel of this classic guitar song.
think im gonna call it on that 15 high E bend, dont wanna join the "i broke my string" group lol! amazing song tho! love the lessons!
Slide up
It's a rite of passage! Plus if your string breaks it forces you to have some fresh ones :)
i broke my sting but dont worry i put an acoustic e string on my les paul so it works now 😂🤦🏼♂️
You are always welcome to my group
U really need light strings to do this I have like 8s
