Thank you for the informative video, Anja. My German friend taught me a funny phrase, which is, "Ich verstehe nur Bahnhof." It literally translates as "I only understand train station" but means "I do not understand other languages".
I would translate it like this: "I don't understand anything!" For Example: You could also say this if you didn't understand anything in class. That's a good one!
I think a couple of these have English equivalents- "Go through the Roof" instead of "vor Wut an die Decke zu gehen" or "Drive me up the walls/Climbing the walls" instead of "die Wände hoch zu gehen" (which is pretty much exactly the same thing, now that I see it).
Durch die Decke gehen "Go through the Roof" meint im Deutschen etwas wächst oder steigt oder entwickelt sich so gut das es durch die Decke geht also eine Grenze sprengt. Means something raises hirer than the normal Top and it is running ( climbing) up fast to a Top level for example bussiness is running good and scores more as normal.
Danke!
Remember,Anja using the most simplest way of teaching German, sehr practical !
Du hast recht. She deserves more
I’m glad I found this channel because I’m learning German now for the summer.
Danke Anja!
I'm start learning too , are you use babbel?
Ania, it’s better than a simple vulgar set.
I've liked this one "Das kotzt mich an" im sure I'd use it a lot
Stimmt! I know i will use these! Viel Spaß!
I say some of these phrases even though noone around me understands it. Yesterday i was repeating one in the car over and over. People beside me must have thought i was really really angry !!
@@jarcadipane2849 hahaha
@@jarcadipane2849 same except i worked at a German deli and had to be mindful 1 other coworker who also spoke German as well as many of the customers. 😂. Was fun when customers would tell me in German what they really thought of the owners, who were really oppressive, slovenly, greedy and unhygenic( American). I stayed as long as i could to try improve things but to no avail. But for a time, besides all that, it was one of the best total career changes. Far less pay but i got to speak German all day, sang at work, fun tasks, customers were awesome. 🇩🇪🇺🇸
@@Jeweliedear That sounds like it must have been a blast !!! Besides, you get to eat schnitzel all time time !
"doch" confuses me sehr. You use it all over and offen it doesn't translate to something. Same with "noch" I believe. And "denn" ...
I really like this method of skit and explanation.. Dank sehr!
Please do more skits like this to explain how to conceptualize the German language.. very helpful because i am dyslexic..i think in concept
Very funny and interesting phrases. Danke Anja!
Hallo Anja! Could you use the ending "lein" for a younger sibling? Thank you in advance, your lessons are great!
Ja, Schwesterlein / Brüderlein (or with -chen --> Schwesterchen / but also ein altes Väterchen / Mütterchen / Mütterlein) sounds legitimate.
Wouldn't there be anything else? Indecent words are the basis of every language and are best remembered :-))
Feels great to be among first hundred viewers 😇❤️
Wooow, that’s the most fun and didactic video for German learning I’ve ever watched on UA-cam!!! Toll!
Willst du mich verarschen? I always find this funny. 😂
This one I always use. Actually, at the beginning, I thought verarschen meant like when a woman gets a butt operation to increase its size lol.
It's not really funny but it sounds like French, I like to say to my husband : Du nervst!
:) ich mag, "spinnst du?"
(Are you Spinning?/are you crazy?)
& "das ist Schnee von gestern"(not a concern anymore)
Great job Anja!!! I loved the skit...it was very informative...please keep them coming....Danke
Das ist nicht mein Bier!= It‘s none of my business
Ich weiß, wie der Hase läüft.
Your acting is better than many Hollywood stars 🤭
Omg I was laughing out loud at the mall when I was watching this video and waiting for my husband to return! So funny!
Sehr lustig und auch lehrreich….super acting too!! Danke sehr Anja
Ich denke auch. Sie ist großartig
I'm new to German language and your videos help me a lot, thank you :)
Du kannst schaffen. Ich glaube an dich
I can’t wait to say “No pig is here” the next time someone is late.
Gefällt mir so sehr! Sehr lustig, Anja! 😂
Such a good channel, so much effort put into it
Tolle Ausdrücke! 👏👏👏
I don't like German, but I watched the entire video because of her. She seems like a nice person.
I love the way German sounds but it's really difficult to learn
it really isnt too difficult to learn . Listening to these videos several times per week, you will be surprised how much you learn after a few months...
German language is really beautiful with you, Anja. I am so happy to watch your videos
Hi, Anja! Do you, or someone from your family, speak any other language (besides English and German)?
I hate that like the pandemic(the plague).
Very relatable, I love it!
Make more vids like that please.
German sounds so attrative when said in an angry tone!
Deine Lernmethode ist einfach fantastisch! Deine ERKLÄRUNGEN SO HILFREICH, ALLES SUPER!!! GRÜßE AUS GRIECHENLAND!
okay but is Bobby single?
People look cute even when they are angry 😀👍in german 👍
Did i just see you at the Germany - England game? 😂❤️
Anja! Es war sehr gut! Ich habe viel gelernt.
Dear Anja, in English SINCE and FOR one hour is NOT equivalent, to be exact. It's only FOR one hour or SINCE 1 pm, for example (a point in time - NOT how long es dauert)
Super. Play by play, this is an awesome teaching method.
I love this video because being English I can relate to some of the expressions. In German I think people are more blunt but we've been "climbing the walls" for decades!
Hey Anja danke shön fur alles liebe Grüße 🖖
Good skit! So that was some German slang?
I understand that "seit einer Stunde" is dative, but immediately after seit comes the next preposition über, which could be dative OR accusative. In this case, it looks like no motion is still involved, so would probably still be dative. What do you do in cases where there's another preposition INSIDE of a dative or accusative phrase?
Funny sayings... I know you can also say "Leck mich mal" as a shortened version of that. Also to say someone is out in the middle of nowhere, you can say "Er ist am Arsch der Welt."
schneller Hosenscheißer! Ha! That’s one I use with my teenage sons quite often.
Thank you for your informative videos!
Viel Erfolg .wish u all the best
Wer ist hier nach Princess Charming?😀
Good lesson!, I hope to see other videos like this
Why not geting a bit more academic here? "Ich bin sauer!" sounds very unfamiliar to a non german speaker. Just tell em the German 'sauer' is cognate to the English 'sour' now it's much more likely to make a connection ...
Anja ,you betrayed the LGBT area? You have a boyfriend now?You are normal now?Bravo!
You are great teacher Anja,I am from Syria and learn with you step by step
Just became a naturalized German. Don’t speak a word. Help!
Perhaps this is where colloquial English would call getting very angry, “hitting the roof”
Anja you are ONE OF A KIND !!! 👏👏👏🥇
👍👍👍
🇵🇰🇵🇰🇩🇪🇩🇪
German Is Easy and funny with you! Thanks a lot!! Greetings!
This was so much fun to watch and very informative! Thank you!
Great video as always. I just bought your book. Thanks!
"Was machst du denn für Sachen ?!?"
In Argentina we say "Kein hund is da" (No vino ni el perro). Or, when there is too few people we also say "Vier verrückte Katzen kamen" (vinieron 4 gatos locos)
At school we would have to sing a song like guten tag anja ich heiBse stefan on a video, I'm sure it was you!!
Nice to know all languages have the “ driving up the wall” or “ go up the wall” xD
Vielen Dank fürs Video!
Where the pepper is growing ...😂😂😂😂😂 hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My Oma has recently taken to often saying "Der dümmste Bauer hat die dicksten Kartoffeln"
Great video! Auf Englisch, wenn Man wuetend uber keine Grund ist, sag man "Wer hat in deinen Orangensaft gepinklen?". or "who peed in your orange juice?" Ha ha!
Perfect tutorial, now i can scream german at my russian buddies
So michelle pfeiffer kinda meand michelle whistler? 😅
Danke sehr! Das war ja hilfreich.
Please can anyone complete lich me am a.. 😅🤔 ? I want to know this word
Ich liebe es! :)
Es geht um die Wurst
Es ist mir Wurst
.... and a personal favorite.."Niemand kann mir das Wasser reichen" 😆😆
Ich bin neugierig was das letzte Wort ist von “Leck mich an A*****.”?😅
Very nice video, danke. I heard this two phrases: "Du spinnst!" and "Du hast ein Vogel in dein Kopf!"
Vielen Dank Anja für alles was du tust. Jetzt kann ich wütend werden.
I really enjoyed these expressions, i know every language has it's own weird combination of certain words and i find it very interesting and entertaining to watch and learn...Thanks Anja 😁👌
I am so happy to hear that
What I experienced in Lab was more like a lick than a kiss.
just brilliant! you rock Anja :-)
One suggestion, since you are already providing english subtitles in your videos, please speak more german in your videos.
There is a purpose behind this. Different ways to memorize all offered at the same time reinforce the learn effect - listen, hear translation, listen again, read it at the same time when you listen. It is usually better to learn less at a time but to learn it for sure.
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Was eine Arschgeige 🤭🍑🎻
Shiit woman im wirklich in love with your material ❤
