As a milennial who'll probably never own their own property, these videos are like fantasy escapism ;')
Definitely! This kind of videos and makeover shows are everying
Some tips apply to a rented house and made quarantine so much easier
I feel you Lexy :(
Never say never. If you want to own property someday, craft your life to make that happen.I had nothing in my twenties, and now at 60, I have two cottages on 11 acres.I worked hard to get here, but you can do it too!
More interior design videos please 🙌
Spending less time on UA-cam is the first step to making more money for most people.
Yes, yes, yes to more interior design vids. Great job on this one. Also, your suggestion on trays is something my husband I have employed for quite a while now and use them daily.
I used to feel bad about having my living room furniture all against the walls. And then I found myself in a house with another adult, stuck in all day due to the pandemic and cold climate, basically relying on home workouts to stop the process of turning into a giant blob :D Suddenly it turned out that extra empty space in the middle of the room is absolutely necessary. Who knew, eh? :)
Wow really
Your house is a tool to support your life.
This talking skeleton in the video has no clue what she is talking about.
@@mybestideas1 you really should consider trying to convey your point without body shaming your opponent
Agree with 100% of what you said. Furniture against the wall is soo middle ages 🤪 I think the trickiest thing with furniture against the wall is if your space is small, you can't create proper space to walk around unless you put furniture against the wall. One additional idea is visible technology in relaxing space (aka my home). I must cover up or hide the tv or computer screens because I find them terribly ugly and just remind me of the fast paced world we live in, when I strongly think our homes should be a place of solitude.
Also plants can change the entire environment of the room. Other thing is wide big windows with lots of sunlight and good view
Well... I can't change the windows, but I'll try to apply the plant suggestion
That's the dream!
Finally a video that says things right and not talk about lots of unnecessary and unpractical things! Very good job Jenny!
Some old school tips that I think still apply: If a room has chairs, there should be at least two. Dining room rugs need to fit the whole table and the chairs. Nothing's more of an eye sore than a too short rug!
Wow nice one
I love how you always manage to bring something new to every topic you discuss. There are so many "interior design mistakes" videos on youtube, and they're often very similar, but, for example, I'd never heard of that tray tip before!
YESSSSS I am HERE for the anti-overhead lighting train. I have always detested overhead lights, and not only because I'm light-sensitive. It's glaring, washes out the surroundings, and just feels cold!
More interior design videos pleeease!!!
I used to save everything, have lots of things. I have been so enjoying editing, decluttering, minimizing, and omg white walls are the best!
it's the flowers for me. i love how you always have some beautiful flowers laying around your home !
Me and my boyfriend moved to a house together around new years and instead of bringing furniture we had just to fill the space we decided let go of the pieces we didn't like and live in our space a while before we buy new furniture. Yes our house may not be so cosy right now, but its been great to really think about what we need and what we want, the 'want' being the hard one to figure out 😅 great video as always, would love to see more about this topic😊
This is such a good strategy! I'm also moving at the moment and I still have two entirely empty walls in the new apartment. It might be tempting to get sideboards and shelves for them right away but I'm gonna move in and see if I actually need more storage space. I really just got the bare minimum of what I know I'm gonna need and I'm gonna go from there - and maybe I don't need or want anything else at all.
Another idea for easy "side table" is hanging a narrow shelf just above your sofa. You can put there your snacks and drinks while lounging
Oh I love this idea!
If all the furniture is in the middle of the room, then there's not enough room to dance around, or do yoga while watching tv, or practice gymnastics. I want as much open floor space as possible. That's why I don't own a coffee table.
Love the idea of taking thins away from walls, I’m staring to see that more and really appreciate that 👌🏻
I love large space in the middle of my living room. It pleasantly fits my yoga mat and I do not feel claustrophobic :) But, good points here, Jenny! Amazing topic to discuss, indeed. Thanks for the tips.
I think in my childhood i developed scoliosis partially because of poor furniture placement. In our flat the couch was placed against a wall and the TV was not in front of the couch but on the side of it. As a result always when i watched Tv i had to sit asymmetrically leaning to the back support part of the couch with my legs sideways. Uhh and I hate when people place desks facing a wall. Who likes to rest their eyes when working by staring into a wall? :D When I create working space I always place my desk so that I'm looking through a window when sitting at it or into my apartment.
Finally, someone else in the world who dislikes overhead lighting! I think lamps are so beautiful (jewelry for your room). My less aesthetically astute friends make fun of me for my “lamp collection”, yet they all comment on how cozy and relaxing my home is. In regard to tables, I find it very uncomfortable when I go to someone’s home and you have nowhere to set your drink down. I’m a fan of small easily moveable tables or stools for this purpose.
*Negative space* is my kind of aesthetic 🧡🧡
Oooooooo like this topic!
I would love more videos like this from Jenny!
@@user-bj7em4fv1p same!! 🤩🤩
Love this video. I feel more "safe", when I put my tables and chairs close to a wall. Preferably there is a wall behind me, and I´m placed, so I can see the door. Love that we are different, but still can inspire each other. Lots of knus from Denmark.
Mirrors are also key for introverts to spy what guests are in the house to see if they want to be social before they come downstairs
i feel that needing to fill 'every inch of space' is an emptiness inside of people. hence, horders. care for self properly, imo. also, imo, a n y size space, this aesthetic applies. 💗✌ Thank you Jenny.
Your eyes look gorgeous in this video! What eyeshadow are you wearing?
I must say you look so pretty
can you do a video with tips for small rooms? (: i like this video but my space is very limited
I agree with everything you said, especially the light thing! I have a small pink abat-jour in my bedroom which also makes the light pink and it’s a million times more relaxing, cozy and beautiful than the ceiling light. If anybody likes colours I would suggest to maybe try a coloured lamp, I have found it really boosts my mood :)
Yes, you are right....I am in the vacation rental business
I like the minimalism aesthetics but for me nothing beats hugge. I need clutter to feel cozy. I need blankets and throws on the sofas, loads of pillows, that cute painting I drew when I was feeling down, colorful mugs lined up in the cupboard and tones of real plants sucking up my O2. Ahhh home... 😇
plants give O2
I love mirrors I may have a problem my husband has made me confine most of them to my closet!! I’m obsessed!! Estate sales are the best place to pick up beautiful ornate real wood mirrors for nothing! I bought a huge mirror at an estate sale for 40$ and recently saw an identical mirror in a castle!!
The Biggest Mistake Is Listen To Others Opinions

love your makeup.... so fresh, golden and fairy-like
I am so into interior design, I watch everything on tv that includes this topic! Having a cosy house well put together is very important to me! I love to gather new ideas so this video was a great lesson for me! I like the idea of small lamps in more places, I always follow this style! Beautiful and practical house it's the key!
Yep, yep, yep, yep, and yep!
Totally agree with you!
I love this video! Self help like this improves the quality of life for so many and gets people thinking about how to improve thier living environment which helps mental health!
I’ve been in love with your furniture setup forever, so this video is 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
I don't like mirrors used for decor. Every restaurant I've been in with mirrors i hate the reflections.
My apartment living room is too small for the furniture to be away from the walls.

*cry in small apartment that can’t have anything in the middle
Hey there, I do understand what you are talking about, however... (sorry here it comes) I lived in a small apartment myself, and while it is true you can’t put anything truly in the middle, there are ways to ease the symptoms of wall-itis. Try to re-orientate your furniture. Play around with different positions. Have a bookcase as a separator and decoration with only it‘s side to the wall, instead of the back. Maybe put a dresser that way. Have your desk away from the wall , facing the room... There are many possibilities but you have to play around with what you have and live with it for a while to see how it affects the space
One of my favourite rooms I've ever decorated was when I lived overseas for 4 months or so. I only had what I needed plus a couple of personal touches to remind me of home. Furniture was against the wall of my dorm room but the focus of the room was on the windows looking out to trees outside. My shelves didn't have much on them and my walls were only minimally decorated. I loved that room and I still look on it fondly.
Right? My living/dining room is 2.20m wide. I either have a sofa/dining table against the wall, or I can barely walk through the room 😅
More of this please. 🖤
I have two tiny foldable wooden stools, one serves as a bedside table (it’s low enough for my futon on the floor I sleep on) and the other moves around with me in the room, holding my laptop or a tray like yours, it even works great on my desk to elevate my laptop to a more agreeable height for online classes / video conferencing. Plus they look so cute! They are my best interior choice perhaps.
I don't know if this is possible but I would love to see your thought process when interior designing a room. So for example, have an empty room and I would love to see how you'd design and and why you choose that piece of furniture. Adding one piece at a time explaining maybe "oh that wall has blah blah blah so I'm gonna do this or add that or remove that" something like that. I would love more interior designing tips from you!
I'm literally eating my lunch at the coffee table- which is really an ikea bench with a plant on haha
YES! I understand not everyone has the budget or friendly landlords to go and change things up, but I see people doing all this self-care stuff and overlooking the impact of their home
Yes, yes, yes - on so many levels! White space, light and thinking in "use cases" is just such a big impact. I'm a designer and a lot of people coming into my place always call my white wall for example empty.
YES more interior design! I just finished redecorating our living room and am now totally into the topic !
Yassss all the interior design content !!!!
More interior design videos, Jenny, please!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Love you 😘
I love all these tips!! I’m an interior designer and it’s great to see someone talking about this human centered approach to design on UA-cam... more please 😊🙏
Jenny, yes! I am thirsty for more interior design tips! I have just bought my first house and thinking about how to make all the rooms look and what to put in them is so stressful to me! I do not have a lot of furniture of my own so I will need to purchase things myself. Any tips are welcome! On colours in a room, materials, atmosphere, warmth or cool. I tend to look at current magazines but see a lot of the dark green jungle vibes with wood and metal details or even gold. It seems to be a trend of the time right now and I feel like going with it because of it, but I also feel like it will come to bite me back later on.
your feeling about trends is right. just keep looking for furniture that really pleases you
Use the trends in little ways like accent pieces, pillows or soft furnishings, that way when they feel outdated and you’re tired of them they will be easy to change. It would be a lot harder to get rid of jungle theme from a room painted floor to ceiling hunter green. 😉
Love your ideas they are beautiful- I have been trying to convince my husband that a tray would be better in the lounge than another piece of furniture x
This was truly helpful
LOVE your tips, please make more videos like these! kiss kiss and lots of love from Vienna, Austria.
I must say you look so pretty
Yes, more interior design videos! I soooo admire your aesthetic 🥰.
totally agree with overhead lights, they’re so overbearing and harsh !
I haven’t watched your videos in ages and wow; you look absolutely beautiful with your hair like that and I love the eyebrows! ♥️
Great video, would love more of these
You are a lifesaver! My partner and I are about to move to our first place in downtown Reykjavik and I am so excited to implement these thoughtful tips. You always have such fresh and lovely flowers at home-do you have any tips on sourcing the most ethical bouquets?
I would LOVE more interior design vids! I'm just about to move into my little flat that I've bought and would love tips on making a small space seem airy and not cluttered! xox
Thank you so much for those ideas. I‘m currently living with a messy flatmate who decorates with missmatching stuff everywhere. Sometimes, I almost feel claustrophobic. So I‘m looking forward to move into a clean, airy apartment of my own, where I can integrate your tips.
100% agree x
Could you make a video on finding aesthetic vacation homes? They all look so good
yes please!!
Love your space, so it’s super helpful to hear more tips! I’m going to hunt for a new living room mirror now.
Love love loved this content Jenny 💛🤗
Please more interior design videos 🙏 it's so inspiring
I can't get over how fresh and glowing you look in this video! I had to rewind because I didn't hear what you were saying :D is this the same make up look you shared a lil while back?
new make up :D I noticed too and I love it
wow so many insights!!
I'd love to hear some more interior design tips since I suck at that topic ^^;
My parents are always trying to suggest my dining table be push against the wall for more living room space ! Always argued them on that. Thanks for affirming my aesthetic inclinations :p
I really like overfilled spaces. For me they feel cozy and homely and purposeful. I have actually tried those minimalistic and clean design choices with lots of free space and it just felt like a hotel room and a place that constantly misses something. It felt uncomplete and fed anxiety. As for tables to walls its just more practical as in tables wont interfere with walking this way. You need really huge rooms to afford to have them in the middle of the room. Additionally you can use the wall as a support for some things to not fall down by accident. That applies mostly to working tables tho.
It´s really easy to say if you have a large flat.. I have absolutely no possibility to put things in the middle
Love this! Thank you Jenny ❤️ I would love to see more interior design videos!
Beautiful images illustrating your ideas!
Love your pink look in this video Jenny
Where do you get your beautiful furniture from? :)
great video! short n sweet! thank you!
Please do more videos like this!! ❤️
Mirrors are now my new go to! Amazing video, as alway
Thank you!
Thoughts on ceiling spotlights? They seem so popular yet I find them uncomfortable!
2:40 it´s where we put ourselves..! much love
Love the tray idea!
Love these tips - anyone know where all of the furniture in the video is from? 😬
I really liked the video! Can you please talk about sharing decisions on design with your partner? Kisses from Portugal!
More interior design videos please!
Oh, good one about having every lounge space set up so you don’t have to move.
Yes I love this topic!
The use of negative space is a concept in Japanese aesthetics as well. It's called "ma" and you'll notice that a lot of Japanese spaces don't have anything on the wall, flower arrangement considers the space around each bloom, and even shelving areas in traditional houses might only have one item in what is otherwise a large nook.
I loved this video :) in the process of decorating my home!
Random question. Where are your gold glass frames from? Where are your silverware from? I love them!!
I really enjoyed this video as I am refurnishing my living room. Where are your cute white tables from?
I think mirrors look so good as decoration, but I don't like how you unconsciously look at yourself every time you walk past them
Great tips! Thanks Jenny :)
I'm looking at my room with 9 pieces of furniture pushed up against a wall so it will all fit lmao. I like that advice bc when you move a piece of furniture into the middle of the floor the room automatically looks bigger.
Would you mind coming over to my place and helping me rearrange it? 😅 we have this kinda large, rather long but not very wide living/dining room. I find it so difficult not to push all furniture against the walls. I’d love to put our sofa more in the center of the room but then it would be like way too close to the tv
i feel like i learned so much from this video.
Really enjoyed this thank you Jenny. I'm about to pull apart my living room and take everything away from the wall... but then I saw the furniture behind you? ;@) It's worth a shot though - more of these, please! I'm about to redecorate my living room from the heavy brown and beige of the previous owner to typical Minimalist White - but I'm concerned it will become sterile and not inviting. I think I need some Mustard Tips :)
My home is just a mish mash of everything and anything, it is also not technically my house so what can I do but wait to have my own home that I can make a japandi dream
japandi 4 eva!!
Mirrors are so expensive 😭 but I agree 🥺😇
All my furniture is just a few inches or more from the wall except my table. My table clings to the wall, haha.
I have a small collection of teak trays that offer simple patterns even when unadorned on an ottoman. walking into my kitchen and seeing empty counters makes me feel at peace and unencumbered so I have a blank canvas to create a meal.
