- Have a lawn that looks like this? I teach how to diagnose and repair lawn problems. This lawn has a front yard that has odd brown patterns, and areas that are pitted dead patches, while the other half of the lawn is perfectly fine. The back yard is full of large dead areas throughout.

Man, it's awesome having you back on the regular. Looking fwd to LMA, tell you what... I started using ProPeat because of you. I won't go down with any other granular. That ProPeat is very well thought out. I'm hoping it balances out my soil, in the mean time the lawn is thick and dark green. Keep bringing the content. "AWESOMESAUCE!"
Thanks Charles!!! LMA is a big under taking. I’m excited 😄
The Lawn Ginja is LEGIT! He diagnosed our yard 2 summers ago and following his advice has made our lawn GORGEOUS!
Thank you, Ginja! You literally saved our lawn!

Nice view from the yard.
Thanks!
I am definitely struggling with my lawn. I’ll rewatch and see if I can figure it out.

Like these episodes, very informative.
Glad you like them!
Was watching this after my daughter went to bed. The scream in the background at 2:50 had me running upstairs to check what happened. 😂
😂😂😂 my kids in the trampoline. That’s my everyday
Keep up the good work brother.👍🏻🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Thanks Joseph!
Hello, question. Last year i got new sod. I also made a mistake of not bagging when cutting the new sod and there is dead grass covering the dirt. There are dead spots in the front yard, but in the back yard the whole yard is pretty much dead. I can pull the dead grass easily. I saw one of your video saying you can dethatch in summer. Minnesota July weather usually is 85 degree during the day and 60 degree at night. My question is can i dethatch my lawn and overseed in the summer of Minnesota. I do have irrigation as well that covers the lawn pretty well.
I've had decent luck dethatching and seeding in summer with tttf and ryegrass. i wouldn't recommend doing this with kentucky bluegrass. the germination rate on bluegrass when temps go high is very low.
but RPR... stands for creeping ? or it doesnt spread that much ?
yes, its got what's considered sub surface stolons. but it is not super drought resistent / tolerant. no water = no grass. even bluegrass at best will only tolerate lack of water up to 8 weeks. by the time it goes brown you have 3 weeks to wake it up.
You mentioned that Kentucky Bluegrass takes 21 days to germinate. Yes that is true when you put down the seed in early spring when temperatures are still cool. If you put down the seed when it is warm the Kentucky Blue grass will germinate in as little as 6 days. Air and ground temperatures have a huge effect in the speed of germination.
Good observation
Cool
Thanks sun99%! I remember you from way back in the day!
What setting do you set your SunJoe Scarifier on when establishing the slits in the lawn to overseed?

@@pestandlawnginja Appreciate that.
It was a good video. But how does one “adjust“ the sprinklers? They are where they are. Are you referring to increasing one zone over another? Are you talking about swapping out one type of head for another?
I'm referring to how the spray is leaving the head of the sprinkler. there are two adjusters on most sprinkler heads. One setting adjusts the spray width and the other the height.
Hey Ginja,
Always a pleasure watching your content. I have poa triv in my well established cool season grass.
It’s it many areas so I can’t pull it out. I don’t want to kill my existing lawn either.
I had to seed many areas this spring due to snow mold so couldn’t do a pre-emergent. Hindsight, I wished I just fertilized and applied the a pre emergent.
Any suggestions? Am I too late for a post emergent?
Try using growth regulators on your lawn. Many have had great luck. What kind of grass do you have
@@pestandlawnginja First, thank you so much for the quick reply. I have TTTF/KBG. Do you mind forwarding the product I should try
and what exactly does it do?
If you’re every ever in my neck of woods, Saratoga Springs, NY, let me know. Would love for you to stop by.
The dead areas are sand, not sprinkler issues. Those areas need to be dug up and replaced with a good topsoil and seed. Grass will never grow on a beach. To save money maybe aerate it, but that wont get rid of the sand.
If you watch the video you’ll see the native soil is not sand it’s clay. Thanks for watching
Can you lime and fertilizer at the same time ?
Yes
Do you think about Hydrophobic?
I've seen it happen but not as often as people think. revive does a great job of helping out with hydrophobic soils.
Being in Utah, I'm not sure if moles or voles are a problem in that high of an elevation and being in a subdivision with roads all around. If you have any experience with dealing with moles or voles, I'd love to see a video discussing ways to combat them. I typically spend $100 or so each year just in Mole/vole killer, deterrents, spray, granules, Castor beans, and traps to try and deal with the problem on the 3+ acre yard that I mow that is surrounded by forest and open pasture land in Missouri.
Great suggestion thanks 🙏
This is probably a dumb question but is the lawn seeds and fertilizer you’d get at a garden centre type place be far more superior than stuff you’d get at Lowe’s? I’m not having any luck with Scott’s stuff.
Depends on the type really. I have a video on this subject “how grass seed is made”. Ntep.org is a great resource
This sure looks like Ogden..... You ever able to stop by Layton let me know-
Great material ALWAYS!! Thanks
I will let you know
What if I have Bermuda having the same drought problem? I can’t use seed/ peet moss.
No, but you can plug and transplant fairly easy
Bermuda invasion, is what's currently wrong with my lawn.
😩 the worst
Yeah, another episode of, "What's wrong with my Lawn." Woot!
👊😀🏆
belo trabalho amigo!!! Acabei de ver seus vídeos e estou gostando muito 😊
Obrigado Alexandre! Espero que vc vai conquistar o gramado!
Ginja I live in the north east Connecticut specifically, I would like to use the RPR but I do not have a watering system. My grass usually goes dormant, and August comes back in September. Will the RPR be OK?
NO! Stick with barenbrug turf blue pro or turf blue pro hgt. hgt is ta thicker variety but its not as dark.
My only problem is quack in cool season grass. It’s the worst, never should have aerated.
Ugh 😩 the worst
Why are we using Rye? why not mix with fescue?
It’s more inviting on the feet. Mixes are great too
@@pestandlawnginja arrh ok :)
I just want a lawn made up of crabgrass and clover how can I get that ??? I’m tired of grass don’t care to walk on it just want a nice looking lawn not a walkable lawn . I hv sandy soil in east coast and um yea I don’t want to water
Shouldn’t be too hard of you let things be 😁
How do I have you come to my house for advise?
Working on a way to manage that right now
Any one know about biocides I’ve made a huge mistake I’ve sprayed my paving to remove moss and algae and it looks like I’ve killed the edges of my lawn😢
Depends on the biocide and how much was applied. Some can last up to 5 years in the soil. My suggestion is to cut out the dead and dig 5” or so deep and then replace the soil and re sod or seed
@@pestandlawnginja oh great easy fix then 😂
@@GW._. 😂
Is there any way to fix a lawn that is on heavy clay without ripping out the entire lawn? I’m having drainage issues .
Yah! My lawn has heavy clay or had rather. You can go back in my playlist from the “this is my lawn” series and start there
