I agree with you 100% and I’m honestly surprised we never got any sort of customization/personalization of the Switch UI. Part of me thinks that Nintendo was planning on implementing something like that but decided to hold off in order to use it as one of the key features of the new Switch successor. Or maybe not 🤷♂️. Nintendo is annoyingly hard to predict
Big disagree. I actually like that the homescreen of the Switch is so simple and minimalistic that I never get distracted from what I'm using the console for: Playing games. I like that Nintendo isn't wasting any resources into something that isn't games. I don't want customisation if they put more effort into making the gaming experience better in the Switch 2 instead.
Gamefreak needs more time and less massive projects. Pokemon Company doesn't help. I also think they need more people to work on the graphics pipeline and maybe help from Monolith would be very nice
They need to hire a team that knows more about making big 3D open world games. They either don’t know what they’re doing, or they’re not given enough time/money to do it, or maybe a mix of both.
@@skycloud4802 thats the neat part they didn't... They would ask help for Nintendo employees, the previous Nintendo president, Satoru Iwata was responsible for the optimisation of the gen 2 games, he is the reason they managed to fit in both Johto and Kanto in a single cartridge. The problem is that game freak is understaffed (which btw is their own fault, interviews say that they deliberately try to keep the employee numbers low), they have little time (pokemon company pressures them to take on multiple big projects in schedule to all the merchandise) and they have inexperienced employees, they only started working on home consoles on the switch, no wonder sword and shield looked like an upscaled 3ds game.
So when people say "attaches by electromagnets" what they mean is "electromagnetically actuated lock" not that magnetic force is holding the joycon onto the Switch2 body.
So like a metal rod that holds the two pieces together and when you press that lock button, it just detaches the metal rod from a magnet with a spring mechanism? Is that it?
@@mcmadness110 to have an electromagnet on, it requires constant power. having the electromagnet turn on to release the locking mechanism feasible, but having it always powered to lock would kill the battery.
That is crazy, reminds me of when Etika got his hands on a fake Nintendo Switch, prior to its actual launch, then went on stream pretending he got the actual thing. God, I miss that guy.
@@DragonBallZuperHe would probably be talking about lackluster games of today. Along with Switch 2 hype like the new Mario Kart, 3D Mario and Super Smash Bros.
Top port is for mobile charging. It's very annoying to play the Switch with that charging port only on the bottom. Now it'll be a lot more comfortable.
CLOSEST THING we’ve seen so far of the Switch 2!!! No blurry images, no silicone cases, but an actual, physical prototype model in your hands! This video is gonna be your biggest video yet! 🎉
It's a big pet peeve of mine that Nintendo *still wont* use analog triggers. Games like Sunshine and F Zero GX used it back in the gamecube days when they actually had it. They went backwards and never came back around in that respect.
@@johnnobon i know some games like driving games would be better with analog triggers, but as a splatoon fan, I'm happy they're digital. I've tried to play with a conroller that had analog triggers, and there's way too much travel, to make it feel responsive and snappy like on the pro controller.
@johnnobon its because nintendo got sued by a patent troll over their analogue triggers. Xbox and sony paid a settlement. Nintendo fought it in court and lost, thus is also why Nintendo started patenting every little thing they make, from their d-pad to pokeballs as a concept
@@salmonderyou just then want a controller that can basically turn into a digital trigger. There are some where you have a slider that when you slide it up the trigger has no travel time and activates instantly
I’m watching this video right after a video just went up from CES. The model you have is exactly the same as the one being shown off at CES. It’s crazy that Nintendo isn’t pulling the video down, so this is definitely what the Switch 2 will look like.
With all these leaks going on for the last few weeks, it is VERY much unlike Nintendo NOT to send cease and desist orders and copyright strikes to everyone. Something feels off, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad.
most likely Nintendo had these companies sign a contract of some kind and that contract either gave permission or didn't include language prohibiting sharing the general design/shape of the console
Nintendo dorsnt need to do anything because this isnt doing anything to ruin their brand. More over people that consume this leaks is a minor but dedicated part of their target user base.
@@arkemreeves7404 there is no way they are using hall effect. Having to buy joy cons every other year is a hell of a business. xbox for example doesn‘t do it either
@@YogiTheBearManThat's insanely good as they don't have deadzone. Every other console refuses to use them because they.they take the joystick cost from like 8 cents to 40 cents and they think potentiometer is decent enough. If you've never tried a hall effect, I 100% recommend it. What's crazy is that N64 used optical and early ps1 dualshock used hall effect, but to make more money every manufacturer went to potentiometer based.
I think that top USB C is just for charging. One of the big complaints of the current Switch models is the inability to really charge it when playing in Tabletop Mode due to the port being on the bottom. Having a second port directly addresses that.
There's no reason both ports wouldn't have full functionality. Sure it's possible but there's just no reason to make that restriction. Fully redundant ports would dramatically improve the longevity of the device so I really hope they don't gimp the top port.
@@budthecyborg4575 that's a very good point. I've had to repair many joycon rails but this magnet mechanism looks like it'll be less prone to breaking. Good on Nintendo for making a system that was already durable and making the next one even better in that regard. I don't expect to be blown away as far as the internals but mobile gaming has evolved since the first switch came out so it could have some power under the hood
@@budthecyborg4575 It would be so dumb to make the top port charging only. It's not just charging you can't do in tabletop mode, you also can't use wired controllers. Having a fully functional top USB C means that you could get an OTG cable and plug wired USB controllers into the top port while in tabletop mode
I found it really curious that this channel I didn't know, with 70k subs, got the hands on to the NS2 model. But I'm thankful too, because Tomsguide page of news brought me here and I definitely liked the way he expresses himself and his opinion is not biased or full of messy things one can do without (like many, many famous channels do) so I just subscribed to this man. Honestly a good gain for today, even if the dummy NS2 turns out to be fake, this channel isn't.
If its as powerful as a PS4 Pro or Xbox Series S, as is being anticipated, that's more than enough for the time being. Every AAA third party game from the last six years is going on this thing, everything from Elden Ring to Street Fighter 6 to RDR2, and this is on top of Nintendo's first party. We heard from people who saw the target hardware demo at Gamescom 2023 that they were showing The Matrix Awakens on it, which is very impressive if true.
Yep you are 100% on point, the library is gonna be huge . This is all I wanted , a jump in power and huge screen . Don't fix what ain't broke.. I do hope the analogs are Hall Effect sticks. These leaks are all shape and size but zero tech specs. That's where things are gonna be fun to find out. I do wish they had changed the joycon shape and thickness a bit.
Switch 2 its as outdated as switch 1 was at release, maybe more. The difference will be the stagnation in game development & the increased willingness of developers to suuport a Nintendo platform from the start. Finally rough power wise i dont think its a ps4 pro level.
@@Refreshment01 The Switch-2 has an outdated Nvidia chipset. The performance is anywhere between slightly behind / ahead of the PS4 depending on the title. Basically, it is launching years after the Valve SteamDeck, and it barely competes against it. It is definitely NOT as powerful as the PS4 Pro, or XB1X, let alone the current-gen Xbox Series S. So do NOT expect ANY games that are cross-generation. Nintendo does NOT compete against Sony or Xbox, those guys make Home Consoles whilst Nintendo only makes Handheld Consoles.
Man, looks like the Nintendo Switch-2 will be launching in Q2-2025. It is 2.5 generations behind Home Consoles, and in a few years (Q3 2027) it will be 3.0 generations behind the PS6 and XB6. Not to compare a Home Console to a Handheld Console, but it's important to note the performance delta. And honestly I can't comment on a Portable Xbox (Cloud Streaming?) or Handheld PS. I don't have faith in them. What I do have faith in is with Valve. The original SteamDeck was supposed to launch in Q4 2020, but got delayed until Q3 2022. They are planning its successor. With the original having a lifespan anywhere between 6-8 Years. So the earliest date is Q3 2026 for the successor, and the latest would be Q4 2030. Honestly, I'm thinking the successor will launch in Q4 2027, with cutting-edge technology (2nm, AM5, Zen6, RDNA-5). It will likely step up to a 120Hz OLED, potentially 1080p display, and 80Whr Battery. Performance wise expect it to slightly surpass the Xbox Series S at around 15W (or 5hr battery life). So it will be able to play current-gen games, but the next-gen games will likely be too much. Perhaps it will be able to play those titles, but at greatly reduced fidelity.
And then here I am watching this video on my Wii U. There's something really cool to me about watching Switch 2 videos on the Wii U UA-cam app lol. I've also watched PS5 videos on the PS3 UA-cam app. It's great.
@@queasc0220 On the TV apps you can view comments and like them, but you can't comment directly on the TV version of UA-cam. It instead tells you to open the mobile app to comment, so I commented on a different platform while watching on my Wii U.
The top USB-C port is so that the switch can be plugged in to charge while using the kickstand or in hand held mode. The C button toggles on and off communication for online games (mutes your microphone) when in hand held mode. Just my guess of course.
The C button speculation ive heard before. Why go to that extra cost when it could be a software toggle? Its a cost enhancing underwelming feature. Not very nintendo like.
USB-C port being on top and next to headphone jack likely means there will be some type of camera accessory that plugs into both ports. It also opens the door for a number of odd accessories. It could be for an amiibo reader, if they don’t keep that functionality built-in. A portable HDMI adapter so you can “dock” your Switch 2 anywhere as long as you have an HDMI cable, you no longer need to bring the whole dock. Could also be used for enhanced audio or a VR headset. That other jack/port on the left side could be to bring stability to a larger accessory like a 2nd screen attachment for 3DS games. Also it could hint that on Switch 2 you can use two screens for some games. The dock could have its own processor that speaks to your portable Switch 2 and displays gameplay between the screen and your device. That last one may be a stretch, but I’m very confident about those two new ports being for a range of potential accessories.
I can't believe this! I honestly think it has to be the real thing at this point. So many accessory makers leaked models that looked exactly like this that were later taken down by Nintendo. I don't know how they let this get out to the public.
I hope this isn’t real only thing different is the joy cons and some enhancements wow impressive. Not hard to impress people when they keep buying small improvements
@catacocamping874 Yeah, it's really not that different. The key is that it should be able to play more demanding games which is nice but it's not as different as there other devices have been.
@@TheBrickSeparator2020But it will now use a good Nvidia one means with dlss upscaling the graphics can reach 4k in theory hoping Nintendo will be able to use that
Two of the holes on the top seem evenly spaced away from the outer edge of the tablet. I believe they are meant for mounting attachments to the console, and the USB-C port on top would be the I/O for said attachments. That would explain why there are now four mounting points on the bottom. Two closest to the USB-C port are for the dock, and the outer and larger two are more mounting attachments in tandem with the top two. Here are some ideas off the top of my head: - Camera Attachment for AR/VR Games: A camera module could turn the Switch into an augmented reality device, enabling AR games similar to Pokémon Go - Stylus Dock: A specialized mount for a stylus or drawing pen on top, with a selection of interactive paint/drawing tools on the bottom that can be activated by touching the stylus to them. - Battery packs - Specialized streaming gear like front facing cameras and lights - Vehicle mounting - Keyboard and mouse mounts for educational apps or productivity software and possibly Interactive learning attachments, such as microscopes or experiment kits for STEM-focused games. - Modular Controller Enhancements like full-sized arcade fighting stick or racing wheel that the console can attach into and finally for those that read this far: R.O.B. 2.0
Seems you are confused. Theres one potential mounting hole on top. The other holes are: headphone, light sensor & the tiny sliver might be for a mic. Also attachment of those sizes would instantly obstruct the top vents so they would need to be designed around this.
I'm really fascinated to see how this generation of hardware will hold up in competition with PC handhelds as those get smaller and more powerful. They are very much enthusiast devices at this point in time, but 5-7 years is a long time for tech to evolve. Assuming the Switch 2 is around PS4 levels of power, it's going to be very interesting...
The original ROG Ally has been floating about for $350 or so. Saw the Legion Go for as low as £350 here in the UK during Black Friday. Valve had to offer refurbished SD OLEDs though... so I had to finally get one.
If we don't another chip shortage, then we could actually get a Switch 2 Pro this time lol. Which I mean if it comes out 4 years after the Switch 2's release, right around the time the Xbox and PS Handhelds come out, then it could let Nintendo compete with those two in terms of power, therefor taking away some of the glory those two would have.
I think Nintendo kinda know what they're doing. I'm sure some people will trash on it but it will be good enough powerwise, IMO. They will have thought about there protected life cycle of 5-8 years and planned for it, surely.
@@Thinkofsomethingnew with exception of the Wii U i have never been disappointed by nintendo. and i don't even consider myself that dedicated of a Fan. (i usually buy consoles from nintendo a year after release.. )
18:00 I completely agree with you, using the joycons detached feels like the equivalent of wearing no pants while working from home 😂 so freeing and comfy, no other controllers are gonna do that for a WHILE. Using them while lying back for the first time felt like a revelation, its crazy. Even better if they're bigger on the 2.
Looks legit. The side joycon button will absolutely be what prevents the joycons from falling out, since magnets while powerful could cause the Switch to flop out and you've got a cracked screen or broken Switch. The C button is most likely going to be a quick way to change your personalized button layouts, or a personalized button to be mapped to be used for wherever you want to go. Press C to go to the Shop, settings, pictures, data management, swap user accounts, etc...
I highly doubt the C button will be customizable, let alone let you set layouts. Normal consumers kinda hate the ambiguity and fallibility of user customization, it's mainly for nerds, and Nintendo doesn't cater to tech nerds.
My speculation is that the back button is a joy-con release button, but that it might also double as an extra trigger button when holding the joy-con sideways. The way it’s shaped in relation to the top of the joy-con makes me think it might be used in this way.
I wonder if the C button is for a social system. Nintendo Central or something like that. Edit: Oh god, I just realized it might be for "Click" if they name the system Nintendo Click because of how the joy-con magnets click into place...
The "Nintendo Click" makes me think of an ill-fated 2000's era early internet oriented machine, where the selling point is being able "surf the net!" in addition to play games.
Something i'm noticing is the kickstand is different than the leaks. The leaks show a U shaped kickstand and its pretty prominent. Its likely that the dummy isnt meant to be 1/1 but still its interesting
I noticed that too. It sort of calls into question the validity of this unit. I guess maybe a company just making a zipper case wouldn't need to know the shape of the kickstand, but surely someone making a gel skin would need to know the kickstand shape. Either Nintendo sends out different mockups depending on how much detail the accessory requires, or one of the mockups (this one or the one with the u shaped stand) isn't legit. We'll know soon enough.
The Wii-U was a marketing failure NOT a system failure. I have Wii-U and switch and can tell you that a lot of games run on the Wii-U play better & have better graphic problems than on the Switch. Probably due in no small part to the fact that 90%+ actuall Nintendo games on the Switch were designed for the Wii-U. The new management just changed the stats, again, and buried the Wii-U as fast as possible. Especially after paying millions to ensure there was no backwards compatibility.
@@Kolbaar which games are these? Because even the ports or games that were released on both consoles, have been proven to run better on the switch than the Wii-u, be it increased frame rate or increased resolution. The Wii-u specs put it above the Xbox 360 but below the ps3, with the switch specs putting it slightly below or above the base Xbox one but not on the level of the base ps4. But totally agree on marketing being the reason the Wii-u flopped.
My Wii-U was riddled with problem from the start. I could never get a solid connection between the gamepad and console and it constantly had issues booting up.
@ should have returned it. The game pad had the faster wireless connection to the system than the system had to the wifi router. I used wired connection, so was not an issue. I did hear the first batch were rushed out & had several replacements. Only prob with the gamepad is with the faster connection it was at a shorter distance, so you had to stay in the same room as the system.
Found your video through a tweet, and I do agree with most of the points here. Although, regarding the trigger buttons 6:05, as much as I love using analog triggers on any other controllers, I don't find much use of it outside of FPS and Racing games, which I don't think a lot of Switch games support (at least not that I know of), so I can understand why they decided to stick with digital trigger buttons like the OG Switch. That being said, I'm glad Nintendo kept the design similar to the OG Switch, just bigger and (hopefully) more powerful. Oh, and I do hope those new Joy-Cons stick won't drift as much as easily. 😅
I want to believe this is real but a company would not just give a model of the Nintendo Switch 2 away before its release. But also a Reddit leaker describe bigger buttons and magnetic Joy-Cons sometime around Christmas I believe.
I never expect Nintendo to be a leader in hardware. I expect them to be a leader in quality games. And most of the time, I'm not disappointed. I am getting a bit sore with not having Metroid prime 2 and 3 ports/remastered already though.
I bet the NDAs went out with the assumption they would announce in October. Then everyone started talking about it being announced and Nintendo decided against it but the NDAs were already expiring. Or maybe they were ready to present, but the new Mario needed more work because the game looked like the first movie version of Sonic, so they needed time to clean it up.
Someone in legal is getting fired if this is true. I can't see it. Seems like an intentional red herring to me with a semblance of truth. So what we end up seeing is familiar but with an unknown 'wow' factor.
No way Nintendo ever thought about releasing the switch 2 during the fall. Nintendo knows it has to release the switch 2 in March to have production half ready for the next 2025 holiday season.
@BoilingKoolaid true enough. I would say they partially announced it. They announced it enough so that anyone who buys a switch for their kids this holiday season would know it will be outdated very soon and not feel robbed. I don't think Nintendo has any issues with these leaks.
Man if the tops light sensor would be replaced by a camera that would open up so many more abilities! For example it could act as a real good light sensor. Also on the back there could be a mini mirror that slides up diagonally to the camera so that it can record your face. It can be used for online and for face tracking and without the mirror it could act as a buttonless motion controller like we saw with the infra red camera rock paper scissors game in 1-2-Switch. With the ai chip from nvidia it could also give you immersive AR capabilities as we saw with the 3DS with no modern AI technology (it was a decade ago). So yeah.
The top USB C could be just for charging. But also, could be used for peripherals. We know Nintendo loves its gimmicky gadgets. Imagine an AR Camera that plugs in... A "Motion+" type of accessory... USB C Hi-Fi headphones/earbuds. That could be a port that opens up a wide arrange of possibilities.
11:10 as a person who played switch a lot with friends somewhere, where you don’t have a tv i think that they added this port to charge the console when in the tabletop mode. i looked through the comments and was surprised that no one told about that
@@grahamcracker-inc That sounds a bit complicated. I think it will just lift them up a bit so that there's more distance between the magnets in the joycon and the magnets in the console.
Praying the build quality is at least marginally better than it is on the original switch. Docks scratching screens, joycons losing their stick caps, joycons drifting, the whole console losing its finish after a while, are all serious, very annoying issues that other handheld manufacturers don’t have. I’m hoping Nintendo follows their direction.
I sort of thought the C button might toggle the function of the right joystick. With so many N64 games available online and no dedicated N64 C buttons, I wondered if the C button would toggle the right joystick between a regular joystick and a directional C pad for N64 games. I'm probably wrong, but "C" is a pretty specific button name in the Nintendo universe.
This is amazing to see! 8" is definitely the sweetspot. Big enough to get a solid experience without being too big. Hopefully the battery and performance will be enough.
I know people are different and everybody has their own preferences, but for me the Switch Joycons are emergency controllers at best. After long playsessions my hands just start to hurt and I don't know if these new Joycons will fix that for me. I am really glad the PC Handheld space is doing great, because I may skip the Switch 2 if they don't get me with the games at launch.
You're right that everyone is different. The OG Joy-Con with the straps attached in split mode is the most comfortable way to play. It makes traditional controllers seem uncomfortable for me. Handheld isn't nearly as great, but it's good enough for me.
The release button on the joycon doesn't stick out that much, it conforms better to the natural curve of the shell. Model from september's leaks was a recreation based on information the leaker had
If thats the Switch 2 I love it already due to the way the joycons connect and the USB C port being on top. The MAIN thing I really like though is I play with the joycons in my hands like you do and love playing that way as well. The fact that you say the bigger joycons are even more comfortable to hold in ur hands is what I'm excited for. Hell yeah. Nintendo show this next month for the world to see! 😃
Im alittle concerned that we are gonna have another wii u moment where people that aren't into tech like us aren't gonna realize, understand or know that the switch 2 is a new and different system compared to the switch 1. Ppl thought the wii u was just an accessory to the wii and ppl are probably gonna think the switch 2 is just a slightly different switch like the oled or lite models.
@@ProjectFraz How would people think it’s a different model of the Switch when it literally has a 2 in the name? The only reason the name “Wii U” confused people was because the average consumer only saw the Gamepad and didn’t realize there was a brand new console as well. And if they did see the console they thought the Gamepad could work on the Original Wii as well, it was a lose lose situation because in either scenario people thought it was an accessory. The Switch is different because the Switch itself is the Console, and having a 2 in the name makes sure people know it’s a successor. Nobody gets confused by PlayStation or Xbox when they come out with new consoles, so why would the Switch 2 be any different?
Hopefully what handicapped their sales was simply the name. If they named the Wii U the Wii 2 it probably could have sold a lot better. Maybe calling this the switch 2 will help them prevent that scenario. IF it's called the switch 2 or anything that clearly shows it's not just an iteration but a sequel instead. Knowing Nintendo theres a chance they will not use a name to make it obvious
@@ProjectFraz normally I would agree with that, but I can see a lot of people upgrading just like they upgrade phones without really knowing the difference. But the main difference here would be that the switch came out many years ago.

@@kennethlee1977 Funny because my SD oled gets way more than two hours of battery life. Nintendo fanboys point this out when the SD oled matches or exceeds switch battery life and I'm like, "you know they're comparable, right?". There are plenty of youtube videos confirming it. The fastest I can kill the battery is 2 hours and that's running a game no switch can handle. Like ghostrunner 2 at 70+fps medium settings. Or I can play Fallout 3 and get 8 hours with optimization. When you compare watt for watt running the same games, the SD is actually more power efficient because it has a 6nm apu, so yeah...because I've hit 14 hour estimated battery life while playing emulators. Ain't no switch doing that. Let's both run doom eternal and match visual settings. Then see who lasts longer. Saying you'd get a desktop for power to play advanced games when it can already be done just an excuse to fanboy out and buy the switch 2. You're just coping.
Really wish the joycons weren't flat on the back like the original ones. They really needed to make the joycons thicker so its more comfortable out of the box for adults.
@@Testoider I have tiny hands too and it's still very uncomfortable for longer play sessions. I find the Steam Deck to be super comfortable to hold despite the size. I think it helps to sell accessories. I have an amazing grip for my switch lite. I will preorder the switch 2 but I never dock so I’ll get a cool case with a great grip.
I kind of disagree I'm only 16 but I have very large Man Hands however I've never personally had an issue with the joy-cons especially on the OLED and I think I would much rather have the joy-cons be flesh with the console
I’m asking myself the same question. However, if they didn’t get the device from Nintendo with an NDA they haven’t broken any law. Given this still is fully spectulations this still might be a fake so if Nintendo sues they’ll compromise themselves by basically admitting that everything is true.
My theory is that an embargo is lifted, and the console was meant to be revealed sooner. Unfortunately, Nintendo can't really do much if that's the case. These companies did hold up their end.
I believe it’s marketing. What better way to market something without actually having to do the marketing. Everyone is talking about it. Marketing successful.
@@Soulstealer000 Yeah, if the console was revealed in september or october then that puts us at the right time for the 3rd party companies to reveal their peripherals for the upcoming Ninendo console. Let's hope this doesn't mean the console wasn't pushed back from its original planned release
This is actually pretty crazy! I think you're in a unique situation because you're the only UA-camr (that I've seen) that has that physical model. You would hope that if Nintendo sees this they would realize that it's time to just release the actual photos and get it over with. Especially after the d-brand leak pics too.
It's either going to be a capture button or a custom button that can be used for other functions in a game. Regardless is it going to be a secondary thought of a button just like a home or select button . Just like the joy-cons when you have the joycon separately which is the main function of the switch in the first place you can't capture footage and share it with the other controller unless you have the other one in your hand at all times.. then again the other can be said about the home button for the left side so it makes me think if it is a capture button why not just put a home button on the other side as well and make it a function button that could act as a home button when you have only one joy-con so the theory is possible but it's kind of weird if it is just to capture button that's why I say it could possibly be a multi-functional button.. that can be used with any game to do a certain function to act as an extra button when using separate joy-con
With the joycons being larger, are the more comfortable than the smaller ones? Also, I think the C button will be for chat to go along with the microphone on the top left side of the console
Not in a million years. Its a togfle type button. Gyro recentering/neutral is better handheld by any other action button. What would make a world of diffein terms of gyro recentering would be capacitice sensors so the sysem knows when your finger are on top of a nutton without pressing it.
Two holes in the top are just screw holes, USB C port in the top is for headphones/earphones, and the USB C in the bottom for charging. It's obvious since the Headphone jack port was it the place of USB C in the original switch.
Facts bro . I love my switch and having physical copies of games . I usually just play my switch docked , tho . I love the concept … and the first party games !
Okay, rapid-fire. The C button I think is C for capture. It's almost in the same spot as the regular switch to take a photograph. And it may also be used for video. I think you're wrong Bill that the larger screen and larger body will also hold a larger battery. It won't be thicker like the Ally X, but it might be longer to help give it a better battery life.
But there's already a capture button on the left joycon. Why would they add a second one? I guess maybe if there are two separate players and you split the joycons. But otherwise it doesn't make sense why there would be a second capture button.
I think DLSS is going to be Nintendo's friend with the Switch 2 looking better than other handhelds right now, even Steam Deck. Over time, we shall see how long that keeps them ontop. That USB-C on the top could quite easily send output to a second screen... just sayin... 👀
From everything that I've seen, those back triggers are definitely for releasing the magnet lock mechanism for removing the joycons. I'm unsure what that "C" button is, but I like the concept of bringing back a "C" button of some kind!
The Switch is a great console and a great concept, but its biggest issue is the power. All they really needed to do outside of doing refinements to the console is to improve the power as much as they can in the budget they put themselves in.
For sure the two USB C ports are intended for wired headphones and being able to charge at the same time, or charging the system while in tabletop mode. I hated not being able to do tabletop mode if needing to charge the sytem. That's definitely an upgrade.

@@chriskim5535 yeah, the market is much different than it was when the switch released. It’s normal than proper handhelds that cost 3x as much than what a switch 2 will be better. However Nintendo has the experiences they sell. Mario Kart 9 as a launch title is going to attract many players.
@Sumire9287 Well I got my 256gb LCD Steamdeck for US$250. If they expect to charge $400~, they gotta do something more than just a bigger screen. They have to show me "their own thing" is worth the money for me to buy anything other than first party titles.

if this device doesn't do anything dramatically different then it might as well just be a switch pro.... SO I am hopeful that the dock will be significant this time around and not just a means of connecting to TV but something that can improve the performance with either a separate better chip or much better cooling system for the device allowing the internal chip to be fully unlocked and maybe even get us a 4k 60 docked mode.
I seriously doubt the dock will do anything significant because it would significantly increase the price of the Switch 2 for functionality that a good chunk of Switch 2 players would rarely use. Both the Switch and Steam Deck passed on an enhanced dock, so I don't know why you think this would be any different. If that will actually disappoint you then you might as well get ready to be disappointed, but frankly, I think you're being unrealistic.
@@dontworry7440 Nintendo always does something unexpected. We will see what that thing is but I guarantee there will be something different about this console if not the dock then in the functionality of the console itself.. perhaps that top usb is more important than we think. We will find out fairly soon hopefully in the next few months or whenever it gets officially revealed.
@@matt4193 ideally split processing could give us a better docked experience. But it’s highly unlikely and honestly hard to pull off effectively without lag spikes from latency issues.. I’m honestly thinking a cooling system built in to the dock and just a higher power chip in the device that is severely underpowered for mobile use is the most likely scenario. Probably not gonna see 4k 60 docked but we can still hope for it lol
Hm, looks alright! The new lock on system seems like a massive improvement. The rails worked ok but they feel pretty flimsy 7 years later. Plus the shoulder buttons om the side actually look decent now. I know I really shouldn't complain because the pro controller I have will work perfectly with this, but I do wish the joycons got some more substantially improved form factor. The joycons work well outside of drift and some bluetooth problems but they always felt really weightless and didn't fit in the shape of the hand especially compared to the pro controller. Ah well, as long as the thing is a powerhouse I'm looking forward to it.

They're not "forcing" the bezels, LCD screens just need thicker bezels. Are you suggesting they should just ditch LCD altogether? Nintendo might be the king of optimisation, but someone needs to forward that memo to Game Freak.
They’re terrible. They clearly don’t care anymore
And to think GameFreak somehow managed Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow with all the memory and graphical constraints of the original Gameboy.

99% of games released nowadays can be played fine on PS4 pro specs, paired with the DLSS this switch 2 might be future proof for at least 5 years
Switch 2 its as outdated as switch 1 was at release, maybe more.

Here are some ideas off the top of my head:
- Camera Attachment for AR/VR Games: A camera module could turn the Switch into an augmented reality device, enabling AR games similar to Pokémon Go
- Stylus Dock: A specialized mount for a stylus or drawing pen on top, with a selection of interactive paint/drawing tools on the bottom that can be activated by touching the stylus to them.
- Battery packs
- Specialized streaming gear like front facing cameras and lights
- Vehicle mounting
- Keyboard and mouse mounts for educational apps or productivity software and possibly Interactive learning attachments, such as microscopes or experiment kits for STEM-focused games.
- Modular Controller Enhancements like full-sized arcade fighting stick or racing wheel that the console can attach into
and finally for those that read this far:
R.O.B. 2.0
Seems you are confused. Theres one potential mounting hole on top. The other holes are: headphone, light sensor & the tiny sliver might be for a mic. Also attachment of those sizes would instantly obstruct the top vents so they would need to be designed around this.
Instantly reminded me of the PSP with the camera that screwed into the top of the unit.

I noticed that too. It sort of calls into question the validity of this unit. I guess maybe a company just making a zipper case wouldn't need to know the shape of the kickstand, but surely someone making a gel skin would need to know the kickstand shape.
@ not new, actually old. Just no one talking about it thanks to Nintendo narrative being successful.
@@byronbennett3567 Announce. I never said release.
Even announcing the switch 2 during holiday would kill switch sales
A social application of some sort with an attachable camera seems pretty likely to me.
11:10 as a person who played switch a lot with friends somewhere, where you don’t have a tv i think that they added this port to charge the console when in the tabletop mode. i looked through the comments and was surprised that no one told about that
The trigger probably locks the JoyCons to the rails with a secondary mechanism like a latch.
It will rotate a permanent magnet within the Joy-Con in order to repulse or neutralize the magnetism between the Joy-Con and the main device.
@grahamcracker-inc Okay that's smarter and more durable 😅
@@grahamcracker-inc
That sounds a bit complicated.
I really do think the c button is chat cuz that’s one of the bigger problems I’ve seen I’ve loved if there was game chat like Xbox or ps
Maybe c is for capture
@@Daniel-ez9rl there is a capture button already
Hori Split Pad Pro is a gamechanger, it fits in docking mode to. All the problems solved for you
Iv been using the hori split pad pro for like 2 years never going back to base joycons on a switch
I completely agree with you about the usbc ports, one for docking, one for charging
The release button on the joycon doesn't stick out that much, it conforms better to the natural curve of the shell. Model from september's leaks was a recreation based on information the leaker had
This is going to probably be the FIRST system I buy as soon as it releases. I've waited so long for this.
Nintendo is smart in making an evolutionary Switch 2, as opposed to a revolutionary Switch 2.
Not really a problem this time, it's something more like DS and 2/3 DS.
Nintendo can't help people aren't smart
"this is just a dummy unit and im a big dummy" made me subscribe lol
I think the gigantic bezels on the display look absolutely horrible for 2025
Bezels should be extinct by now
..this and the lcd screen , so they can sell you a "revision" with bezeless OLED screen couple years down the road lol
this actually looks like a real nintendo move.

@@charlestannehill7537 I'd get a desktop for power. I want battery life on my handheld. What's the use of all that power when you can only game 2hrs max before being tied to a wall with a charger. Optimization is the key. Some developers are just too lazy.
@@charlestannehill7537 Nintendo has prioritized battery life over raw power for 20 years. If you're surprised by this, you aren't paying attention.
@@terpfen You're wrong in one thing: its 30 years (not 20)!
You're just coping.
one of those holes on top is for the sync button, for syncing your switch controllers to the console.
Really wish the joycons weren't flat on the back like the original ones. They really needed to make the joycons thicker so its more comfortable out of the box for adults.
But its a baby toy. Its made for men like me who have baby hands.
@@Testoider i was about to say the same lmao
@@Testoider I have tiny hands too and it's still very uncomfortable for longer play sessions. I find the Steam Deck to be super comfortable to hold despite the size. Much better stick placement for me, too. I understand why JoyCons have them where they do, but I wish other platforms would move forward with higher stick placement.
5:57 It's actually sL and sR, zL and zR are the triggers
Aren’t those companies afraid of being sued by Nintendo?
I’m asking myself the same question. However, if they didn’t get the device from Nintendo with an NDA they haven’t broken any law. Given this still is fully spectulations this still might be a fake so if Nintendo sues they’ll compromise themselves by basically admitting that everything is true.
My theory is that an embargo is lifted, and the console was meant to be revealed sooner. Unfortunately, Nintendo can't really do much if that's the case. These companies did hold up their end.
Nintendo always let Nintendo leak information.
I didn’t have this on my Switch 2 bingo card. Holy cow
I completely agree with you with how you hold your joycons, I hold them in the hand too, so so comfortable, by far, I play with my arms dangling
When you mentioned about holding a joycon in each hand feels comfortable. I wholeheartedly agree. Here's too hoping Switch 2 gets announced soon.
With the joycons being larger, are the more comfortable than the smaller ones? Also, I think the C button will be for chat to go along with the microphone on the top left side of the console
Im thinking the top usb c port could allow you to connect the switch to the dock while using the console itself as a secondary screen, like the wii u?
I honestly I think the “C” is to “center” Gyro….kinda the one thing that would really improve on the Gyro.
@@BeatsAndGuitars that seems like a really inconvenient spot for a recenter button
They should give us a light bar instead like Wii! But ya, good speculation
The switch is the best concept for a console ever. Ima old head. Home and portable is the best. They jus need to make it perform better
Facts bro . I love my switch and having physical copies of games . I usually just play my switch docked , tho . I love the concept … and the first party games !
Do you think they might be the same thickness so that a switch 2 can fit in a switch dock?
A neat idea for the extra usb c port would be to make it into a Nintendo DS(S) Dual Screen Switch.
This brings me back to the good old days of Switchcraft! It was always exciting to hear your take on Nintendo news and speculation Bill.
C buttons were on n64 controller, I’m guessing it’s a modifier button ie. hold C and press d pad for secondary controls. But idk.
@@michaelmcclintick9541 C could maybe stand for „Chat“. Also looks like it has mic on top
Cool. You can charge it faster if it's in the dock and you also charge it with your phonecharger on top at the same time:D
I think DLSS is going to be Nintendo's friend with the Switch 2 looking better than other handhelds right now, even Steam Deck. Over time, we shall see how long that keeps them ontop. That USB-C on the top could quite easily send output to a second screen... just sayin... 👀
I doubt they're doing a second screen. I assume it's for other less expensive accessories or just for ease of use when charging
From everything that I've seen, those back triggers are definitely for releasing the magnet lock mechanism for removing the joycons. I'm unsure what that "C" button is, but I like the concept of bringing back a "C" button of some kind!
I must admit, if this really is switch 2, im not that impressed, Surely Nintendo is hiding something!?
@@o0junglist0o93 what were you actually expecting..? Lol
The Switch is a great console and a great concept, but its biggest issue is the power. All they really needed to do outside of doing refinements to the console is to improve the power as much as they can in the budget they put themselves in.
@@darthblastoise0098 🤣 I dunno, the usual unforseen Nintendo thing no one was expecting??
We haven't yet seen the most important thing for a console. The games.
this is real , and you're gonna be disappointed
For sure the two USB C ports are intended for wired headphones and being able to charge at the same time, or charging the system while in tabletop mode.
I hated not being able to do tabletop mode if needing to charge the sytem. That's definitely an upgrade.
You missed one of the most interesting features the dynamic joystick stiffness that they recently patented.
Props for you, because some others could use that model and make us think that it was a real Switch 2. :)
I want it on launch but I think I’m going to wait a bit for hopefully an OLED model since it’s the primary way I play and I’m also going to wait for a new skull &co case I love the grips so much helps me from cramping
You’re gonna be waiting at least 2 years then. If you have an OLED TV at home you’re fine.
I'd say its still a little too early to tell. We have no clue what display panel it uses.

With products like the Steam Deck and Ally X, Im not really interested in Switch 2. I might get it for the first party titles, but for anything crossplatform, Im gonna be playing them on something else.
Id never buy nintendo systems if it was off system. So many great games I want to play, but they are just stuck on the switch...
Ever since the steam deck came out if a game comes out on switch and deck I get it on deck.
so many people comment things like this and i have to wonder, why? specifically, who asked? like why do you think anyone cares? cool that that's your preference and all but... no one really asked? you arent the target customer demographic wow
It could just be for charging but the second port is also on the side that the steamdeck USB-C port is on so it could be so that its compatible with other pc handheld docks as well.
This reminds me of Etika, he had a very realistic switch mockup model too before the console was out
RIP 🙏
I feel like that case ought to have the handle on the zipper side. I can imagine plenty of people grabbing the case by the handle and being surprised when the console falls right out when they forgot to zip up
I've got a gaming pc and a ps5 and I'm still getting a switch 2 since it will allow me to play so many Nintendo games I missed out on being a pc/PlayStation gamer my whole life
if this device doesn't do anything dramatically different then it might as well just be a switch pro.... SO I am hopeful that the dock will be significant this time around and not just a means of connecting to TV but something that can improve the performance with either a separate better chip or much better cooling system for the device allowing the internal chip to be fully unlocked and maybe even get us a 4k 60 docked mode.
What could an "extra chip" connected via USB do for the system?
No the dock is just gonna be a dock it’s legit just a switch two bro… like ps2 … NS2
We really have nothing but speculation to go on at this point.. and honestly I don’t think Nintendo cares about giving us a niche thing that will barely be used look at the IR sensor on the joycon for example.
If this is real Nintendo are really playing it safe.

Forcing the LCD screen bezels just so they can sell you old tech as Switch 2 OLED without bezels a couple of years later...
They're not "forcing" the bezels, LCD screens just need thicker bezels. Are you suggesting they should just ditch LCD altogether? I see no reason to do that, LCD screens are shockingly pretty close to being the perfect monitor type. Although so is OLED, and MicroLED is the theoretical perfect monitor already. We'll just have to wait and see which one becomes perfect first and which one becomes perfect the cheapest. What I'm saying is we shouldn't forget about LCD just yet
OLED has poor longevity even with proper maintenance.
