@Crispy Cream muslims always pray to mecca, jews try to pray towards jerusalem. Christianity they don't pray towards a specific point on earth, just generally 'East' because there's a bible passage that say jesus will come back up from the east and shine light towards the west like a sunrise. Early christians took this seriously, st Basil in the 4th century said it was an unwritten commandment. but cathedral builders mostly tried to face east but made allowances for local conditions and planning space. And some tried to face the sunrise during their patron saint's feast day so they're slightly off-east. 8-15th century this east-facing cathedral thing really took off (with some exceptions) in europe but they took it less seriously after that. Also early roman christians liked their churches facing west for some reason so some churches followed that and were built the opposite way. that cleric project is very cool. is actually a good source of redstone for a normal world too if you think about it, sure is not going to beat a quad witch farm or something like that specially if we account for afk sessions vs having to trade with the villagers, but if you need 10 or so stacks of redstone for something is not too hard to simply go to one of these and buy them. i already have the neccesary librarian and blacksmith places in my world, but i suppose that now im going to need a church too. also, in 1.17 i think that is going to be neccesary to make a zombie only farm that then become drowned to kill for cooper (i suppose that the rates of a pure river drowned farm are going to be much less than converting zombies) and all that rotten flesh that comes from the cooper farm is going to need some selling
I actually think trading is faster than a couple of witch huts, provided you have enough emeralds, e.g. from an efficient raid farm. The thing just is, it's so stupendously manual that you probably won't bother if you have a quad witch farm.
