the pixel will grow discord: discord.gg/pixelgrew-1150040799569002586 This video was supposed to be finished 2 WEEKS AGO, I edited the first 5 minutes and hired an editor to edit the rest of this entire video. They told me it'd be finished in the next day, for 2 weeks, up until the editor I hired backed out at the last minute due to "issues" after supposedly finishing the project. Days before my editor backed out, I learned Davinci Fusion which is Davinci Resolve's version of After Effects. Usually the edit quality is supposed to go down as a video goes on, however, with just 2 days of some UA-cam tutorials I watched and tested, I have managed to improve my editing. I have NOT sent out a physical letter yet and have tried redeeming the code again, and, I get the same error message. I spent over 2 weeks waiting for the rest of this video to be made, which adds to the irony of the topic of this video. This is the best month for UA-camrs and ironically I had no video ideas I felt that were good for the month. I hope you enjoy this video!
that's really just the thing with only g2a really, sites like eneba or kingwin are way more trustworthy as i've used both (eneba for a fortnite pack and kingwin for couple of games on steam)
g2a is trusted and thats why the devs say to pirate it. 9 times out of 10 on g2a the game codes are purchased with stolen credit card information and eventually when the person who actually owns that credit card files a claim or whatever the code gets taken. so you are basically using somebody else's credit card to get the game and you run the risk of just getting the game revoked.
@kickylol yeeeah.. idk if youtube removed my comment, but g2a is indeed ultra shady, but still trusted by like, a lot people for some reason, i myself don't use it because i'm very mindful of their shady practices just make your purchases from like, eneba or kingwin from my experience
it isn't untrusted, the creator of the video just doesn't know what he's talking about. the problem for game creators is that most of the activation codes sold there are from stolen credit cards and a lot of the times the creator has to refund the money, while there isn't a way to deactivate a game key, thus they make 0 money from the sale.
@@cubedimensions no, ive seen older people who buy the more expensive version of something without knowing the difference because they assume something about the expensive version would be better somehow

That contract you “agree to” should be illegal. How hard it is to get proper customer support nowadays from companies like Microsoft and Sony should ABSOLUTELY be illegal. Super gross stuff. I swear I remember reading that you can’t legally think that everybody will read your 300 page ToS every time, so they can’t actually hold it against you. Meaning you can actually still sue. Don’t recall the details however I’m sorry to say. I seriously hate the world we live in though, my god…
Doordash had a bunch of "lawsuits" filed against them through arbitration for banning drivers, a law firm got drivers together and weaponized their own arbitration agreement against them as they were falsely deactivating drivers. 5,000 drivers caused Doordash to lose $12 million in legal fees, and they wanted a class action suit rather than the arbitration, the judge said they had to honor the arbitration agreement. I found that case through doing research for this video, a large amount of people can do significantly more damage to a company by using the arbitration agreement against them. It's not exactly a good thing but, I have heard most of the time if you write legal notices to the arbitration departments of companies, they'll almost immediately offer you a settlement/resolve the issue as not only do they pay the case filing fee, they have lawyers on payroll. While it sucks that people get banned from Uber and Doordash, hopefully this video informs people that they should keep it as a backup plan to use that arbitration clause to get their job back as soon as possible, because, that's one of the only ways to get a hold of an actual human. Also, before ANYONE gets any ideas, yes, I had the idea of making a video about using Microsoft's arbitration clause against them, they offer to pay the over $200 filing fees for claims under $75k, however, the arbitration clause lowers the statute of limitations of the civil case to one year, so, sadly we cannot all mass-arbitrate against Microsoft using their own agreement against them in regards to the account migration. Plenty of lawyers saw that opportunity of a class action and didn't jump on it, so it likely wouldn't have worked with how many plaintiffs this would have had to sue Microsoft for forcing the migration.
Did you hear about the disney case? where a couple went to disney and the wife died to anaphylaxis because of an allergic reaction and the husband tried to sue only to find out disney said it was against their TOS on disney plus and 4 years prior he had used disney plus's free trial and he couldn't sue bc of that? yea. thats a thing too.
@@thatoneperson-thatyoucantr3652 That's highly illegal however, and didn't hold up, because you can't place info like that in a ToS because of how laws around allergy info work in the US. Basically, Disney just screwed themselves.
it IS illegal. they just put whatever they can in terms of service, and most of the time it cant officialiy be done. the terms of service dont apply if something illegal happens.
About a month ago i saw a $25 iTunes gift card from 2014 just lying around in my house. I decided to redeem it to see what would happen, and it actually worked! $25 was added to my account balance! Good on you, Apple.
Actually - the dispute will cost more for them: You can have them pay your attorney fees, problem is, usually these companies pay the filing fee and most of the time, you will never need to go past the legal notice/legal demand phase, they'll just offer a settlement/refund you as it's more expensive for them to fight you than to dispute it.
@@alexandersamuel5638 it was a "what if I don't migrate my minecraft account" question, it was very interesting. The account ended up basically being deleted. So many old accounts were lost
Microsoft Support is really ass. Sorry but i lost my account worth over 50$ and they just gaslit me and i never got the account back.. They told me some "legal reasons" which i looked up and were not true. I actually had a reason to sue them, but i wont do it because i really don't got the money for a lawyer rn. @@cubedimensionsit also depends. You could possibly send them a payment notice here if you had a valid legal ground, but they can just ignore it and if you actually were to go to court, it would take ages to get anything in the first place, not to mention the costs. The legal system in general is often quite annoying. Those who have the time to go to court often don't have the money and those who have the money don't have the time.
2:40 Correction here, it's not "Fake keys" that are damaging. The real issue is that A LOT of the codes are stolen. They are either bought with stolen credit cards or received for free by deceiving the developer.
That is why I am reluctant to file a chargeback. When you actually get a refund and issue a chargeback, your billing info can actually be marked as higher risk to the entire payment processor or can be logged in some anti-fraud database, and buying a code and charging it back is 100% a way to end up on that list. What I didn't mention is getting banned from one site could actually cause my payment method/billing info to get banned on others.
@@t0biascze644 right but this is an american dispute "ah yes and here we're also suing you for some american outside of the EU not being able to redeem a gift card"
I just looked it up and Capital One has a 3.8% APY and pays out monthly interest, I threw 3.8% and $1.5 billion in a calculator. Even if you didn't stash a portion of that $1.5 billion in metals or stocks or the S&P, the 3.8% APY compound interest would be at $1.8 billion after half a decade. Assuming the gift card money is stashed in a savings account, they can indefinitely make hundreds of millions of dollars simply just by holding the unspent balances in an account while not having the risk of not being able to honor the gift card balance. That's how crazy it is.
It's sometimes also something _you_ can profit off since some CC companies like AmEx sometimes give you cashback on gift cards. Here in Germany, people are abusing this to get business class flights for extremely cheap since reward programmes give you back like 10% of the value of the gift card on some occasions and there are also universal gift cards which you can spend at the grocery store. So in the end, you are getting the money back off those who forgot they had some sort of gift card. Don't know if this works this well in the US, from what I have seen AmEx has worse offers for this there.
I recently did a cleanout of my wallet. I had unused 6-year-old cards to a few fast food places (now used), one gift card 1/4 used to from 12 yearish ago (I gave it to a coworker; I think it worked for her), and an unused gift card from I think 2009 that was unused. The local store shut down, so the nearest is 6 hours away.
I think if you had continued to contact Mojang support, they eventually would have solved the issue. Neither Walmart nor Microsoft would have the know-how for something so specific to Minecrafts change in systems.
You sure? I thought that MS was responsible for the MS end of the migration, and that would include their ability to honor any old Java-only gift cards. Basically MS owns everything about Minecraft now, and there is no more Mojang.
@Videogamer-555 I'm not sure. But I'd figure it's the case. What I can say with certainty is that Mojang still very much exists, and they are the people actually developing the game. However, microsoft provides many resources for sure and do have control over Mojang. The main issue I see with contacting Microsoft is that it's such a huge entity.
@@Videogamer-555 If nothing else, Mojang customer support is more likely to have access to someone in the know at Microsoft. Microsoft support is supposed to handle all requests Microsoft could get, and that's a large umbrella. It's usually a better idea to go as specific as possible.
It's kinda impressive how customer support has become worse by the year instead of improving. I had a problem back in the X360 era and not only the issue was handled fast as heck, but all the convos were with humans who knew what to do
Yeah today’s customer support just feels like people at desk jobs who know nothing about the company they work for. I can’t trust that they’ll know what to do
We kusr need to gather enough people who want to sue Microsoft for the same reason & then split the bill, & also get crowdfunding, because they have a large team of lawyers.
@@thenoddingturtleUnfortunately yes. However if we are going to give them money we are to except them to give us a product in return. Anyone can get easily annoyed if their ability to use a product is hindered with.
At 0:27 that wasn't Mojang's doing, that was Microsoft. Microsoft forced people to migrate the accounts after everyone being told in the acquisition that there wouldn't be one, or that it was unlikely. Mojang has its issues, but the blame for stuff like that lies with Microsoft.
Microsoft forced Mojang to force everyone to migrate. As explained in this video, Mojang now has legal protection from class actions, at least here in the U.S. unless they do something really really really bad.
They're the same corporate entity at this point, there's not real distinction other then specific devs It could've probably been mojang either not wanting to maintain the old accounts system, because look at Bethesda or Activision, new Microsoft studios that have their own account system and not just a Microsoft account
@@charautreal It's common after acquisitions for the company buying to make changes often against the values or wishes of the one they bought. Why would Mojang do something that they had a stance against that they gain no benefit and Microsoft would benifit from the most? They may be under the same entity but are still separate companies. People commonly misattribute blame to Mojang for stuff Microsoft forces through for their own benifit. The amount of this that I saw over the bedrock store adding a glorified new form of paid mods is absurd, and the migration of accounts is no different.
This is actually insane. Im honestly happy you put yourself through this because this is the type of "investigations" we need to be doing. Everything that happened should be illegal "even though its not". This was a great video.
This was painful. But also kinda funny. But still painful. I hope someone at Mojang sees this video and decides to bring it up to...whoever would have any idea how to solve this issue.
When I was a kid, for my birthday, my family and I went to Universal Studios. At the end of the day, in one of the stores outside the park, my parents bought me a Creeper vinyl figure. A few hours later, we went to Walmart and I saw that they were selling Minecraft gift cards. My mom just asked me if I wanted it and I nodded. When I got home, my uncle gave me a creeper hoodie. It was one of the best days of my life.
whats funny is with a free trial of xbox game pass (idk if it has to be ultimate or not) giving you access to a minecraft bedrock account, you can from there make a permanent java edition account with subsequently also gives you permanent access to the bedrock edition as well. furthermore, as long as you have enough emails to make new microsoft accounts for free trials of game pass, you can continuosly make alts for java lol
Amazon sells an ultimate game pass 1 month membership for $15, I had no idea you could gain a permanent copy through that method, I thought it was only temporary. Thanks for letting me know.
@@cubedimensions yeah i think it's due to the fact they don't really have a method in which to take away java access from a player (without banning them from online access and realms) and i guess they just failed to consider that by giving a player access to both versions via access to either bedrock or java that they would potentially give away permanent access to anyone through gamepass because most people just outright own minecraft in the first place lol
As one who has dealt with Walmart's BS before, I can say that the pain of going through Wal-mart support is horrid. I used to work there back in 2021 and ended up getting the VID and had to leave for 2 weeks. I called my Wal-mart to say I had the VID and she directed me to someone I didn't know, most likely one of the main Wal-mart people like a higher manager or higher level customer support person. I told them I got the VID and he said to just do the check-in COVID check we had to do everyday and it'll automatically handle the rest. I did exactly what he did and ended up not only losing over $1,000 in payment, but I also ended up losing my job at the same since my actual managers at the store I worked at was never notified that I had COVID in the first place. I was basically gaslit into believing that "just do this thing" and everything would work out. I probably could've sued Wal-mart as a whole for falsely making me lose the COVID pay I would've gotten and forced them to give me my job back, but the person never gave me his name, so I wouldn't know exactly who I was suing or who would have to be brought to court to fight against my lawsuit. It probably would've been a lot of work to do and probably wouldn't have gotten a lot of my COVID pay back since I would've had to pay for legal stuff. In summary, don't trust Wal-mart with anything. Not for them to handle doing their jobs correctly and to make sure you're not cheated, but also with just simply making purchases online.
0:26 its insane to me how we paid for our accounts only for mojang to sell all of our accounts to microsoft, who adds things like that into their terms of service, and on top of that just generally arent competent. also, massive repsect to those few customer support people you find sometimes, who despite probably being severely underpaid and having to deal with horrible crap while people above them get rich for doing almost nothing, actually help you anyway. its so nice when, after hours of finding random side websites, fighting chatbots and getting transferred between departments, you finally find someone who actually helps. even if that help is just telling you its not possible.
The last 10 minutes of this video was edited in a day and a half, and I was genuinely infuriated while I edited this as my editor backed out after being told for 2 weeks the video would be done the next day 😭 I genuinely felt I was going insane when I edited this video yesterday. I didn't even keep track but I went and wrote down a list, I used 7 different songs, and the shift between the different songs in this video was to show that I was going more and more insane as I kept being told that they'd try to help me but couldn't. The shift in music every time I was told to go to somewhere else to get help was a way to get that "feeling" out there that I was going to have to constantly dart between talking to different people.
@@cubedimensions I'm gonna be real with you just the memory of being transferred to another person in the chain of call command with a sudden burst of hold music that Also suddenly stops as soon as the next person picks up Basically turning it into a jumpscare still makes my heartrate pick up so personally I would prefer we trade experiences. But i really wonder why there isn't a minimum duration for the call transference that allows you to Breathe a little, a quality of life feature that I have no context as to why it hasn't been implemented yet. I now realize, as i write this, that you probably don't know why either, i assume not having call center experience for me to ask for, and I should go do my own research. But I digress; Food for thought, y'know?
There was certain things I cut out of the video because of how long this turned out. The real reason I purchased the copy of Minecraft was actually to redeem the Hypixel YT rank on an alt account, I haven't played on Hypixel in years. I also had purchased that specific gift card back in early 2023 and successfully redeemed it. There was some context I wanted to include but cut out because of how long the video turned out to be. Am glad you liked the video and I am really happy to see someone change their mind on this. This video isn't an entire waste of time, some people have no idea they have agreed to a class action waiver, however, it can be used to your advantage if you have an actual good faith claim, the company usually pays the filing fee and specifically Microsoft not only will pay your filing fee but all your attorney fees on top of what you get rewarded. There was a way of getting the $30 back without getting banned but it was going to be a nasty inconvenience. I will probably get to writing a physical letter and mailing it to them now that this video is gaining more and more views.
@@cubedimensions the length isn't really the problem here. It's writing and delivery. Most of the video consists of monotonous short sentences and stock images. It picked up towards the end when you started sounding frustrated.
This video is extremely relatable when trying to get online support. I lost my Email recently and the amount of holes you have to jump through is crazy. Most were easy, I struggled with Rockstar and had to give up on my Twitch account.
You would think when a customer complains that a code can't be activated, and the support rep can see the code is valid and unused in the system, that it would be a simple matter for them to deactivate the code and simply give you a new one, which should then work.
Later in the video I show an email, which I didn't mention verbally for pacing, that same Minecraft customer support rep told me he "tried the code again" manually and that it didn't work. I sent that exact code to Xbox support after he told me the code was invalid after saying it was originally valid, Xbox support confirmed to me the code worked, and of course, I was still getting the error message the code is valid but it has to be redeemed in a certain way. This video was already 16 minutes long and there was some things I cut, but, I have shown some of what I said and what the support said to me in the background.
The true solution all along and what I was thinking, of an issue that was made on my part? Well, let me give you a copy, or let me give you a working code. Cuz then what did they plan to do after that? There’s probably more codes out there and they’re just gonna let them sit there and not be used either just like this one.
Speaking of Microsoft's sins concerning the game, if your internet provider is suffering an outage, Microsoft will prevent you from playing Minecraft offline because the very first thing the launcher does every single time you fire it up is check that you are signed in to Microsoft & are a valid purchaser.
I was a former representative of a call center, what they did to you was basically so that the supervisor in charge would not reprimand them, look, when they put you on hold for a long time it is because they are looking for information in their system, if they don't find it, they ask a supervisor and if there is no information for your case or they do not want to help you, they simply leave you waiting longer while you think that they are taking time on your case, then they come back and tell you that the best thing would be to transfer you to another representative, with the other it happened the same only with the difference that you were transferred to a department that DOES NOT EXIST, taking you back to the beginning of the call. I know this from work experience and when they do that they simply seek to save time, get rid of a customer quickly because each call is reviewed, which if a customer leaves dissatisfied, is a bad reputation for the representative of that call center, luckily for you, The last one was honest with you no matter what happened.
I did not mention this in the video for pacing purposes: I bought this same exact card in 2023 and used it on the redeem page. So yes, it is a new issue, and this was months/1 year before they deleted the unmigrated accounts.
I got my copy from a good friend who wanted me to join their SMP (still don't know what that is) and thought Minecraft would be right up my alley because I liked building and designing things. They gave it to me as a congratulations after I finished my thesis by getting a gift card at Walmart and giving me the code as we don't have Walmart in my country or gift cards for Minecraft at all. I'm really happy it worked for me with little to no issues because if it had given me this much trouble I wouldn't have so many hours building dumb giant animals and houses right now.
All of this really makes you wonder why Walmart would even sell such an old card in the first place. Then again was it actually Walmart selling it as they do have a way for third party sellers to sell on the site as well.
This is delivered through the same email system/address that the FAQ says you'll receive it from a specific email address for the newer code, I received the old code from the exact email address the FAQ said I'd get the code from if it were the newer code. Both codes are also marked as "Sold By Walmart" and not a third party seller.
I am glad to hear that! I thought this part of the video was either going to be executed poorly or it was going to be really good. I usually don't like showing all black for a video because of my mentality when editing is to have something move at all times so people don't feel bored. I felt it was a funny way of just showing me going in and out of consciousness to indicate how annoying it was to get constantly placed on hold.
@cubedimensions I think it turned out beautifully. I was laughing so hard because of how dramatic it was, and the smiling stock images made it even better.
It kind of seems like you would have to redeem it on the microsoft store app that's on windows 10. Worth a try if you haven't tried yet, and it sucks that walmart give the wrong instructions on how to redeem the card in the first place, also amazing video and keep up the good work!
Now imagine doing this with an upset screaming child who just got a Minecraft card/key on Christmas, but for reasons unbeknownst to them, is suddenly not something that they can play with...... lmao............
I figured why not use the meme to be a warning about what was to come: In the original version he wasted that guy's time for 10 hours. In this version, my time got wasted for hours trying to redeem a card that I purchased for myself.
That's exactly the edit effect I tried conveying in this video, I was put in the dark. Despite how heavily edited this video was, this was the exception because it was just me talking to people forced to pretend to care. I thought it'd be hilarious to edit it as if I was being taken in and out of consciousness so that's what I did. I usually never have entirely black screens when editing videos, this was necessary.
Is it possible to report the listing of the gift card on the walmart website? That looks like an item that was not supposed to be offered for sale because the pricing was incorrect, and the information was outdated. I think someone forgot to remove the item from sale. And if you report the item, I think they will have to remove it from sale because if they don't then someone could report their business. And if their business gets reported, and they end up in a lawsuit over a minecraft item, that might make the minecraft brand look bad, which might cause mojang to terminate their partnership.
Yeah, that listing needs to be reported and removed. This issue can also affect prepaid phone cards. The specific carrier agreement also means that the cards can not, in any way, be refunded by the retailer, and restrictions in the systems prevent overriding it. If someone paid cash, there would be no possible way to even attempt to get the money back, to be honest. Some stores will take the loss and give the money back for one that happens here and there, but a majority of the time the customer must eat the loss. Tracfone periodically has this issue, where their activation system is partially down, but still approving transactions, and they DO NOT INFORM THE RETAILER. WHY?
I actually have a really old Minecraft realms card with a holographic design. My brother gave it to me after his trip to Minecon all those years ago. I don't believe it works anymore since they changed how the codes work now, but I don't really care. Just having the card itself is cool enough for me.
I have a friend who worked a summer job at one of these helplines and according to him, being on the other side of these cases is also deeply frustrating. You're basically forced to tell the person on the other end of the phone that your company has screwed them over, and they're not gonna do jack to fix it, in your best customer service voice.
Around 4 months ago all my accounts were hacked, specifically my microsoft account which holds progress of around 30 games and my minecraft. Along with my microsoft account I had accounts like my steam and EA hacked aswell. I contacted the support for all these accounts and easily gained back my steam and EA accounts. Microsoft though, did not want to reply to me. They told me their accounts are moderated by a robot and cannot be changed by a human, so my hacked account couldn't be reverted. This response is what they gave to me after 12 emails and 2 months of calling and doing back and forth live chats. They told me I need to re-buy my minecraft copy along with all my other games as they cannot do anything. This video and my experience show how microsoft has the WORST and most annoying support. They just want to squeeze money out of you, it's pathetic. I recommend not buying products through them.
My brother got me one of these gift cards right before they made this change. My PC was broken, and by the time it was fixed this change was already implemented and made the mojang gift card completely irrelevant. Later on I bought java myself, I'm still disappointed I never got to use it before Microsoft did this.
What i dont get is if minecraft support KNOWS its a legit code why not just give you a fresh code with the new system? It would be one thing if they thought it was fake but they strait up say its real but they dont know how to activate it. Just give him a new card at the point because they are partnered with walmart.
this happened me too, back when mojang gave all java players a bedrock code. Mine never worked and trying to get help put me in a dead end when at some point i never got a respond from some minecraft help mail
For those of you who purchased keys from Mojang directly, then Mojang is obligated to furnish you with an account when it is redeemed. If your key is redeemed without your consent or knowledge Mojang is still obligated to furnish you with a replacement key for any unauthorized submissions. The keys are bound to contractual terms based on the date of purchase. When an account is created from a key it is not clear what contractual terms apply. I'm sure someone who has read more than me can provide some context.
0:45 Not entirely correct. You can't sue, _microsoft_ you could probably sue, _mojang._ Since its technically a different branch of the same corporate entity.
Impressive how much time was taken to try to redeem this decade old gift card, and was expected that all support agents sucks at helping most* of the times.
This video has one piece of new information most people don't know: A lot of these companies will pay your case filing fee and attorney fees EVEN IF YOU LOSE on these arbitration agreements. They'll likely just refund you or silently fix the problem if you escalate things that far. This could really help some people.
That they told you about the loop thing is a neat thing. Thus, you talked to at least a 2nd level support, aka someone directly working for Walmart and not just some outsourced company.
this old pickaxe gift card was the one my mom bought in 2022, before 1.19 released i guess it stopped working when java and bedrock got bundled together
But here's the thing, i bought minecraft from a website in 2017 and it was already bundled as you got code for windows 10 edition (right now bedrock edition) on email

You should have seen what it was like to edit this video. I hired an editor, which ironically the person I put in charge of editing the final 10 minutes of this video, kept telling me it'd be finished the next day, and backed out last minute. I was waiting to mail a physical letter to Walmart when the video was finished, so I was told 2 days ago I was going to have to render the unfinished video myself, so I scrapped everything the person who made me wait 2 weeks for, and edited the whole thing myself, I spent over 10 hours yesterday editing this video. I learned some new techniques that you see in this video while I was waiting for my editor to finish the video that I had to eventually had to complete entirely.
And I thought this vid was about seeing whether or not an old ahh Minecraft gift card still works on modern Minecraft, not a whole dilemma of customer support being unhelpful. 😭😭😭
Reminds me of a case I had where I bought Minecraft Story mode off of Amazon for PC, which was also an official seller. Would you guess what happened next…
I bought minecraft using a gift card years ago. It was a cold winter day, but I still walked to the walmart and made it back home safe with some extra grub, so I was still winning...
The minecraft giftcard was great for me cause of my parents who were heavily against gaming I could just buy the card at the store with my saved up cash and play. But this stuff where the code doesn't work is pretty messed up.
AND ALL OF THIS for what? To support a company that throws you into a loop and tells you "yOu cAn'T sUe uS" in their agreement? Will people ever stop supporting predatory and dystopian companies that should've realistically died long time ago?
3:43 Woah woah WOAH Windows 10 Edition is Bedrock Edition. Java Edition used to be just "Minecraft" (no subheading). If what you're getting says "Windows 10 Edition" be weary that you're not just getting the desktop version of Bedrock.

This video was supposed to be finished 2 WEEKS AGO, I edited the first 5 minutes and hired an editor to edit the rest of this entire video.
I hope you enjoy this video!

imagine a website being so untrusted that devs just say “pirate our games instead.”
that's really just the thing with only g2a really, sites like eneba or kingwin are way more trustworthy as i've used both (eneba for a fortnite pack and kingwin for couple of games on steam)
g2a is trusted and thats why the devs say to pirate it. 9 times out of 10 on g2a the game codes are purchased with stolen credit card information and eventually when the person who actually owns that credit card files a claim or whatever the code gets taken. so you are basically using somebody else's credit card to get the game and you run the risk of just getting the game revoked.
@kickylol
yeeeah.. idk if youtube removed my comment, but g2a is indeed ultra shady, but still trusted by like, a lot people for some reason, i myself don't use it because i'm very mindful of their shady practices

@@kickylol or theyre press codes for games as well
it isn't untrusted, the creator of the video just doesn't know what he's talking about. the problem for game creators is that most of the activation codes sold there are from stolen credit cards and a lot of the times the creator has to refund the money, while there isn't a way to deactivate a game key, thus they make 0 money from the sale.

Imagine being an American and thinking you have rights. Wow.

When the disputes take more money than the gift card , you know ur powerless
Actually - the dispute will cost more for them: You can have them pay your attorney fees, problem is, usually these companies pay the filing fee and most of the time, you will never need to go past the legal notice/legal demand phase, they'll just offer a settlement/refund you as it's more expensive for them to fight you than to dispute it.
The customer support loop is so dystopian. Imagine it wasn't 30$, but your entire life depended on the outcome. That would be terrifying.

Correction here, it's not "Fake keys" that are damaging.
So did you eventually just get a normal refund from Walmart? Or did you end up activating the code?

The fact that gift cards make money solely off people not using them is insane
I just looked it up and Capital One has a 3.8% APY and pays out monthly interest, I threw 3.8% and $1.5 billion in a calculator. Even if you didn't stash a portion of that $1.5 billion in metals or stocks or the S&P, the 3.8% APY compound interest would be at $1.8 billion after half a decade. Assuming the gift card money is stashed in a savings account, they can indefinitely make hundreds of millions of dollars simply just by holding the unspent balances in an account while not having the risk of not being able to honor the gift card balance. That's how crazy it is.
@@cubedimensions Oh my goodness
Fr, i always use every card i get
It's sometimes also something _you_ can profit off since some CC companies like AmEx sometimes give you cashback on gift cards.
@@Videogamer-555either way the manufacturer, aka, the one who made the card and is selling them definitely should have resolved it

They're the same corporate entity at this point, there's not real distinction other then specific devs
It could've probably been mojang either not wanting to maintain the old accounts system, because look at Bethesda or Activision, new Microsoft studios that have their own account system and not just a Microsoft account
@@charautreal It's common after acquisitions for the company buying to make changes often against the values or wishes of the one they bought. Why would Mojang do something that they had a stance against that they gain no benefit and Microsoft would benifit from the most? They may be under the same entity but are still separate companies. whats funny is with a free trial of xbox game pass (idk if it has to be ultimate or not) giving you access to a minecraft bedrock account, you can from there make a permanent java edition account with subsequently also gives you permanent access to the bedrock edition as well. furthermore, as long as you have enough emails to make new microsoft accounts for free trials of game pass, you can continuosly make alts for java lol

The dramatic music in this video is so funny, given that the topic is literally you doing something that no one reasonable would do.

You would think when a customer complains that a code can't be activated, and the support rep can see the code is valid and unused in the system, that it would be a simple matter for them to deactivate the code and simply give you a new one, which should then work.
its supposed to not work, they want you to just give up
Later in the video I show an email, which I didn't mention verbally for pacing, that same Minecraft customer support rep told me he "tried the code again" manually and that it didn't work.
And thats exactly why i use a cracked launcher even though i have bought minecraft

What's interesting is that I bought one of these old codes from Walmart in 2021 & it still worked. So this seems to be a new issue.
SMP in this case most likely means 'Survival Multiplayer', as opposed to creative or adventure modes presumably.

All of this really makes you wonder why Walmart would even sell such an old card in the first place. Then again was it actually Walmart selling it as they do have a way for third party sellers to sell on the site as well.

WHY?
@@theLuigiFan0007Productions That's Verizon for ya. Had to deal with them for 3 years before moving over to Spectrum Mobile. Never once looked back
"My name is Redacted"
"My name is Bryan" visible on screen lmao
Lesson: Physical items always better than digital ones
i will never understand why big companies make customer service so hard and difficult to find an answer. it's all pointing fingers and call transfers.
I actually have a really old Minecraft realms card with a holographic design. My brother gave it to me after his trip to Minecon all those years ago.
I don't believe it works anymore since they changed how the codes work now, but I don't really care. Just having the card itself is cool enough for me.
The amount of "whoosh" sound effects is blowing my mind
11:56 DIAMOND DIRT GIFTCARD 🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I have a friend who worked a summer job at one of these helplines and according to him, being on the other side of these cases is also deeply frustrating. You're basically forced to tell the person on the other end of the phone that your company has screwed them over, and they're not gonna do jack to fix it, in your best customer service voice.
*with a foreign accent*
"Oh boy... We all know where this is going 😂😂😂"
this is the kind of thing that drives people to just buy minecraft accounts from third parties instead of just buying the game directly
So much for “customer care laws”
Later on I bought java myself, I'm still disappointed I never got to use it before Microsoft did this.
the ai pictures are crazy
What i dont get is if minecraft support KNOWS its a legit code why not just give you a fresh code with the new system? It would be one thing if they thought it was fake but they strait up say its real but they dont know how to activate it. Just give him a new card at the point because they are partnered with walmart.
There would probably be a stupid excuse such as a quote "could be fake" despite the code being real.
As a tech guy I can say that in biz we call this a "Microsoft scenario".
Currently buying a decades old minecraft giftcard for my enemies right now...
Ahh yes, classic Microsoft customer support
this happened me too, back when mojang gave all java players a bedrock code. Mine never worked and trying to get help put me in a dead end when at some point i never got a respond from some minecraft help mail

10:21 they misspelled "store" (sotre)
That was not modified by me, that was the actual Google result
This is the wildest goose chase I’ve ever seen.
6:30 bro said it's redacted but it says it in the email
He probably changes the name, like he did for the example code
For those of you who purchased keys from Mojang directly, then Mojang is obligated to furnish you with an account when it is redeemed. If your key is redeemed without your consent or knowledge Mojang is still obligated to furnish you with a replacement key for any unauthorized submissions.
The keys are bound to contractual terms based on the date of purchase. When an account is created from a key it is not clear what contractual terms apply. I'm sure someone who has read more than me can provide some context.
i will buy the old giftcard to the ones i hate in their birthday 💀
on their birthday*
0:45
Not entirely correct.
You can't sue, _microsoft_ you could probably sue, _mojang._
Since its technically a different branch of the same corporate entity.
Impressive how much time was taken to try to redeem this decade old gift card, and was expected that all support agents sucks at helping most* of the times.
6:28 you did not blur out the name.
Bro Forgot 💀
@AGuyNamedAlI think he edited it like the gift card code
It's edited you fucking dimwits
Funnily enough my mom works for AAA, not the card the Arbitration. So when I saw the logo I did a bit of a double take.
Thus, you talked to at least a 2nd level support, aka someone directly working for Walmart and not just some outsourced company.
this old pickaxe gift card was the one my mom bought in 2022, before 1.19 released
i guess it stopped working when java and bedrock got bundled together
But here's the thing, i bought minecraft from a website in 2017 and it was already bundled as you got code for windows 10 edition (right now bedrock edition) on email
who cares if you get banned from walmart, you should take it to court out of principle.
The video is fine but the thumbnail for this pisses me off.
"It was worse than you think".
No it wasn't. It was exactly as bad as we thought it was going to be.
Please don't use clickbaity thumbnails.
I find it funny that you tried Chrome, Brave, and Edge, which are all the exact same browser under the hood lol
Edge is a Microsoft browser, if Edge doesn't work, then that's messed up. I also went on my phone to try to redeem it, didn't work.
@@cubedimensions Edge is still under the same hood - Chromium.
@@cubedimensions What he means to say is that all of the browsers you used in the video are using Chromium. Sure they might all be their respective browsers owned by different companies, but as long as its using Chromium then its basically the same browser but with a different skin per say. It would've been interesting to see if anything differently would've happened in Firefox due to the browser using a different browser engine called Gecko.
One of the most frustrating vids I've ever seen, wish I had your patience!
The banned you from Amazon?
Least Devious Corporate Tactics
I bought minecraft using a gift card years ago. It was a cold winter day, but I still walked to the walmart and made it back home safe with some extra grub, so I was still winning...
Well, at least you have bragging rights now. XD
Most people would give up, which is what they wanted you to do
Mojang being on my shit list was not expected
Holy heck, what a god darn nice video. Earned a sub 👍
Windows 10 edition originally was separate to bedrock, mine never updated to bedrock, I had to buy it separately, so I have 3 versions on my computer.
8:38 perfect time to go "and thats why I used OPERA GX-"
moral of the story: only buy from the actual source (or physically from trusted retail stores)
the giftcard doesn't mean he got scammed tho? it just the giftcard is outdated but they should still support converting legacy giftcards unless im missing something
This is an actual source, they've literally partnered with Minecraft before.
@@cubedimensions Sorry for the late reply
what I meant by the actual source is from minecraft sorry for any confusion
The Spam filter has nothing to do with an issue on your account. It's a Zendesk filter which means that you most likely used a shady client and not the official microsoft outlook online.
