Nice! AMT/Kusan made some fine cars. Kusan took over AMT in around 1952 or so. Their cars are what made Lionel develop the 6464-series cars. The AMT line was basically scale and still look good today. The 6464's are nice, but still were somewhat smaller than scale, probably to match up with their steam engines and smaller diesels, like the FA, but also look good behind the F's, Trainmasters and other big, O gauge engines. A lot of the original AMT tooling ended up with Williams and MTH, among others. The originals, in decent shape, are harder to find and command a good price. An excellent video, as always.

@johnandrus3901 That's good to know! I didn't realize Kusan got AMT. My dad had a set of AMT passenger cars he ran with his 2343 set.

Great info Matt. I actually like to run scale and traditional o gauge cars together.

Matt who makes that really nice looking brown Northern Pacific Extended Vision caboose that is behind the boxcar?? Is that a custom paint job or was it made by a model train company??

Kusan was more of a competitor of Marx I had one with a battery power Beep. They had scout type fixed couplers. Also I had a couple Crown flat cars and the couplers weren’t completely compatible with Lionel. Any problems with yours?

@richardsobieck9660 My Crowns seem to use the plastic Weaver couplers. No problems...

@@UncleSalty-nz5uk K line I think ended up with the Kusan Box cars with the open door. They reworked it so both doors opened. Hard to tell its the same mold.

@richardsobieck9660 Not sure, but I think K-Line got a lot of old tooling. I know their Alco S2 sure looks a lot like the old Marx switcher. Different drive mechanism of course.

@@UncleSalty-nz5uk Yes the K line S2 is definitely the old Marx casting. But much better. I have one and am very pleased with it.
