The reason why Twice don’t get any solo activities at all is I think JYP is paranoid about members getting more popular than each other because the main reason why Miss A was just Suzy feat. Friends, Suzy ended up getting way more popular and the other activities were nothing compared to Suzy’s and as a result the public only cared about Suzy and their once a year comebacks due to how busy Suzy was always underperformed.
That's a valid reason, but I feel like with Twice it's paranoia and poor management. Nayeon, Jihyo, and Momo get to do a lot of special stages compared to the other girls and when the other girls get solo things, there's not much hype. I didn't know about Mina's cover of good person for a while, I didn't know Chaeyoung wrote her rap for Daring Woman until recently, and so on. I feel like these things could've been marketed better. That would've given the girls more of an even playing field. Here's one thing I like about SM, they work with what they have. For special stages revolved around vocals, they sometimes send rappers instead and let them have that spotlight. But I feel as though it's another factor, I love each member of Twice equally, but I don't feel as though some of them could carry a song by themselves and that's true for a few other groups I stan. I feel like that's because they focus on one thing over others, which makes the idols less flexible. I could be wrong, but more content needs to be given for me to say otherwise honestly.
@@ahaha5057 imo if they start doing solo projects they should start with subunits. maybe a single/mini album for vocal/dance/rap subunits? 2yeon and jihyo doing vocal, then momo+mina+sana on dance, and dahyun/chae/tzuyu as rap the main issue w that is who would take what role within the units. who would be the main dancer in the vocal subunit? what about the main vocal in the dance subunit, or the main vocal in the rap subunit? of the group i think chae and jihyo are most prepared for a whole solo song. chae's shown that she's a pretty solid vocalist + one of the best gg rappers atm while she lacks in dancing, but jihyo's a strong vocalist and dancer and we haven't seen her rap yet. perhaps...... duo subunit?
Hmm i think jyp should do what sm did for snsd. Since debut all members get to shine in multiple variety shows, dancing shows or singing shows. And now, i could say that all members in snsd are popular on their own, i mean koreans in general knows them individually. But with twice, there is a lot of group promotions, which is unnecessary for now since they are already popular as a group. I doubt that the members are popular individually in the eyes of the general knets, except for kpoppers and once. And what jyp did, especially special stage is just focusing on certain members only
Nah it's like Itzy's songs are just straight up shouting "you should love yourself let's be confident" instead of actually exploring HOW to do that. It's very surface-level. I still like their title tracks a lot, but the "not like other girls" energy comes from the concept getting stale. Self-love isn't as simple as "be confident I'm different I don't care about others opinions." Itzy's self love concept is still shallow and promotional now but with time it should mature into something more meaningful EDIT: Because this comment is blowing up and some of yall can't fucking read and/or think your faves, who are rookies, are perfect, stop coming for my neck. yall can't deny that Dalla Dalla and Icy were promoted as being self-love and inspiring but weren't meaningful at all. I have acknowledged that Itzy are still talented rookies, and that I have hopes that as they mature they will grow into a more meaningful concept. Your faves got SO EXCITED to show new sides of them, even if it was in a bside, so why are yall, the fanbase, so against it?
And for me Blackpink: Marketing of their personalities. They are advertised like western celebrities or insta stars, not like most idols. Other idols are mostly shown as funny, relatable and really likeable, while Blackpink is shown as the cool girl clique at your school who lives their best lifes and won't ever talk to you.
exactly, the thing is bp are these lovable, adorable girls and that’s showcased a lot through 24/365. I feel like YG should advertise bp as people who anyone can feel comfortable getting attached to instead of kind of a “higher being” that everyone worships (although ofc there’s nothing wrong with that)
I liked More & More but I can’t deny that it was kinda... cheap. I know it still costs a lot of money, but compared to their past comebacks, more & more is kinda eh. I like it but it’s not my top song from twice. I also like more solo activities for twice. I miss those variety shows that they only send one member, solo activities would’t hurt anyone. I’m not saying that I’m tired of twice in variety shows, no no no. I would like to have more (this is just an example) Dahyun solo variety shows like the one she attended with Vernon and Eunwoo. This gives them to shine individually and I hope for more.
Wdum by cheap😂btw more and more was a 5 year old demo And I think jyp is hesitant to give twice solo stuff is beacuse if what happend to his previous group miss a
tofu is back_ hi I don’t mean cheap by budget but like as an expression like if you compare it to their last two comebacks, it’s kinda meh. I understand that JYP is scared tho, but I’ll still be hoping for more twice solo activities! :)
Kind of agree... I really liked the aesthetic of the MV and honestly thought I would enjoy it more! The outfits and hippy kind of whimsical vibe I got was new and fresh. But the music itself was just... kind of underwhelming. The beat was very repetitive and I felt like I heard more weird sound effects then their voices. I think the choreo is one of their best, but it’s not my favorite from Twice either.
a group shouldn't go on a American/world tour unless they've been in the industry at least 3 years or have a full album, which ever comes first but I actually like itzys bsides especially on their most recent album
“ITZY barely have any songs , I think they should have more songs so they can perform it” YG : wait is JYP copying me ...?? Edit : I wrote a nice comment saying that it was a joke but y’all don’t seem to understand so let me say it again. IT WAS A JOKE
@@meriemyassamineziani6610 How is not being allowed to so your job that you trained for a long time, funny? Also, Blackpink isn't the first group to decline in songs for a long period of time.
I think he's just chilling on the obsessive comebacks cuz he already has 3 girl groups. TWICE has a comeback in the next few weeks. NIZI will be preparing for their official debut. And ITZY just had a comeback. They usually have two comebacks in a year as well so that's perfect for the members who are minors and still attend school.
@@meriemyassamineziani6610 pffff itzy are really better treating I mean they do so much contents bp participate of their first reality show after 4 years old. And ITZY has 20 songs so shut up
Loona jumping from concept to concept is literally their appeal. I mean, since pre-debut all the girls had different concepts, that's one of the reasons why they say "to all loonas around the world". At least for me, this is their special thing, and if they repeat a concept I think lots of people will unstan idk
I agree even from their debuts when they had their solo songs none of them are the same. Their whole concept is too change and diversify. Like oliva's egotistic is nothing like yeojins kiss later. That's why I think loona isn't for everyone but telling them to stick to one concept isn't fair because their whole thing is to keep changing
loona was made to try different concepts, thats what they'd stated from the beginning, they literally went from ViViD a kind of RnB (?) pop song to Around You which was a ballad with 2jin's solos, from their very first moments you could tell they were going to be a very diverse group. trying new concepts is literally their thing
I personally loved Itzy's b-sides, they are perfect to work out lol Someone finally talks about RV's packaging! It's not that they are awful or bad, but they are just... okay. I was kinda disappointed in the Reve Festival Finale album, like the only thing I liked was the design of the cover and the pictures because my girls are gorgeous, but yeah... jewel cases need to die.
@@YukashiRK well, that's your opinion and it's fine :D the b-sides from the new album are top shelf for me and I still bop to ting ting ting and don't' wanna dance everyday tho
I respect them, but there bsides aren’t that good, also on the new album I didn’t really like them (some I kind of liked but not that much), but again it is preference
Twice has made so much money for so long. Twice are literally my ults, but it's time for JYP to focus on itzy and let twice handle themselves. Feel special was their best album and I was hoping since they had the most creative freedom in that album, it would carry to more and more. But it seems that the only thing jyp learned from last year was that twice has international fans, and so they should make the most generic music to appeal to western fans. Chaeyoung literally produced a japanese track, so why can't we have her produce more? Can we have sub units? Solo stages? Something. And can we have a full album please? Jyp is scared that they'll turn out like miss a, but at this point twice has more success than miss a ever did, so what are you so scared of now? I swear jyp purposely sabotages them just so they can be "humble" or some shit bc we all know he doesn't care about talent. He cares about image. And didn't he say he doesn't want his boy groups shining more than him? Twice should leave jyp when they disband if they ever want a chance to redeem themselves as more than just radio friendly visual group.
Ay my fellow DR2 fan. And what you’re saying is kinda blasphemous considering it contradicts what Twice themself said they wanted lol. ITZY IS being focused on - maybe not much compared to groups from other companies, but they are.
@@hajimesbiggestsimp Not much ..itzy? I'm so afraid for TWICE because all their popularity depends on the group. I'm afraid that if they go on a separate path it wouldn't do good since JYP never gives them a chance to shine on their own. SM suck at managing a group but they all had a good career as a solo even after leaving the company or not active as a group(SNSD, EXO, Suju, TVXQ, and now even tho RV is still active they have their own things except for Wendy, Irene and Joy into acting, Seulgi SOLO, Yeri into MC)
I don't really think that twice can debut as a solo idols at least not yet excpet for 2yeon and jihyo but the others still need to improve there vocals and there confident on stage esp momo and tzuyu .. but about the sub unit yes i agree .. debut a sub unit will be a great move if there is at least one of the vocal line on it so they can carry the performance .. and i do belive jyp need to stop force them to lipsync because they get so much hate because of it esp more n more era .. yes the choreo is hard but they are 5 years old they can do it if he let them .. esp that there little sister itzy are monsters when it comes to sing live with hard choreo .. any way i love the girls to be honest and i love all there songs .. sorry for my english
@@sally-dg3ml not really a SOLO debut with a song. But I'm afraid that their future careers in the industry is so blurry like Japanese line, idk where they will be if the group doesn't do good anymore or Tzuyu. Maybe we'll just support them but we honestly don't know what lies ahead
they probably didnt know RBW is really problematic in a way that they dont really care about their artists unless they can get money out of them. i still feel bad for EsNa
hate to break it to you but a group doesn't need to stick to a style forever, that's not how it works. Groups like loona and clc are made to try new styles because they want to showcase a versatile group and it's okay if you don't like a title or style because they'll gonna innovate themselves again next time. And I'm sorry but you sound very controversial to me, if a group keeps the same style as itzy then you say "there's so much of what a group can explore of a concept before starting to get recicled" but when a group plays with various styles to show their many sides you complain that there's no consistency? I'm sorry, then WHAT DO YOU WANT???
Hi, I get what you're saying about complaining about trying new things vs changing every time that the maker said but you used the words inconsistency and recycled and I don't think those are the right words. To me the when they said itzy recycles their concept they meant it that they stay on the same level of the "self-acceptance" concept, in that they keep saying "I'm confident" and not going further. For example they could do how they changed from shy to confident or the struggle to find confidence, if that makes sense.
It probably doesn't cuz I'm not good at articulating myself. (I didn't mention loona cuz I don't know them as well as I know itzy) Also I don't mean to belittle your point of view, so if in any way I've done that please let me know :)

Y'all saying more and more was "cheap" and "less quality" but then in FANCY the members were literally photoshopped into random backgrounds that you'll get from Google 💀
I mean, until this was found out, did anyone complain or find it bad? That is the real question. And I believe it's the songs being compared, in terms of concept, More & More wins.
bruh they aren't talking about the cost of the mv, they're talking about the quality of the song. yes more and more looked like something out of a fairytale but the song wasn't as catchy and hooked up like fancy
@@desh3068 I agree fancy was really catchy and I actually loved the colours and quality of the mv. And more and more is a little catchy it isn't bad but it also isn't my cup of tea so....
I was also like “wtf 🤨” but I guess she ment Lonna should keep a certain sound. I’m not sure if that makes sense but one example could be Ateez. They change their concept here and there however they have that Ateez “sound”. Another example could be TXT. Again with Run Way and Can’t You See Me are different but they have that TXT “sound”.
Am I the only one that thinks ITZY has the best bsides so far as a rookie group (along with TXT) and don't sound that similar to each other at ALL? like I actually love them, especially their It'z Me album. I just always hear people say they don't like their bsides and I'm always like huh?? It's only me then lmao ig
Yes, just because the songs aren't your preference doesn't mean the albums are bad. I don't know a lot about music production, but if someone does and states reasons why they're low quality I'd gladly listen. To just say they're not up to pair but not giving any examples except for disliking every song isn't the strongest argument imo. It'z me had a very distinct style and the songs suited well together, they had the same energy. I could see why one would want more genres included, but personally I don't feel like they need to try out a lot of new sounds so early in their career. I don't mind them establishing themselves and their own style first. And now with Not Shy I believe the need for calmer songs from them have been satisfied for a bit longer (Be in love, surf). On another note, Nobody like me and Don't give a what are two of my favorite bsides from 2020 :D
@@oddec8723 I completely get that and I would give criticism to that as well if I had to- alltho I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with an album like that. Imo It'z me didn't need to be an album including many different genres, as a casual fan I like them because of their title track sound and think that many others do as well. I go to Itzy when I'm in the mood for that type if music and someone else when I want to hear a ballad. It'z me gave us more of what Itzy is known for to do best and satisfied fans needs. Of course, if they keep it up and don't explore something else I will get bored. But them establishing their sound with It'z me and then moving on to test new stuff in the upcoming comebacks I'm not mad about. They still have time to deliver a varied album. I'd personally like to see more of the type of concept album that Yukika released this year in kpop.
Itzy song aren’t my preference , the songs on the new album are good tho (I personally don’t like them), but in my opinion not on txt level of bsides - txt have one of the discographies in the whole kpop industry -

Listen, I’m a Wendy stan I mean look at my icon. But I completely agree. Wendy / sm NEED to Address the whole racism issue. It was NOT right and I don’t know how someone can defend that? As much as I love Wendy, she’s gotten me through a lot and all, but it’s ridiculous how there has been NO apology and it’s been... years?!?
Wasn't it taken out of context and allegedly she was just impersonating two girls in her school? IDK I'm still very confused about that specific issue :/
this situation is a mess and a half but she allegedly did apologize but it was at a fan meet when fans told her they were upset with what she did. im not sure if it’s true or not but you can find it as a top comment on this one korean video
I'm pretty sure she wasn't intending to come off as racist, and to me it didn't come off as racist, but it looked and sounded more like stereotyping than anything, which is still not okay, and she was ignorant to how it would come off. I'm not trying to defend her because either way I feel as if there should be an apology since it came off as offensive to me, but I just think it's a stretch to call it racism.
@@0.o457 yes, im black. And as a black person, to me, it sounded like stereotyping and not racism. Like I said, either way it came off as offensive therefore there needs to be an apology, but I'm not labeling it as racism. Half of these idols are called racist when their actions are just ignorant and stereotypical, and most that shout these accusations and cause a big deal out of it aren't even black. Again. Even if it is not racist, an apology needs to be issued and they should be educated but I'm going to stand by what I said. For Wendy's case. It's a stretch.
“everything twice has put out screams low effort” nothing in the past year twice has done has been low effort- feel special is proof of that. They put a lot of effort into that whole album. The music video for Feel Special had an amazing story behind it, and the bsides where all title track material.
i think they are talking about 2020? which is why they put 'LATELY, everything twice have put out screams low effort'. The release they're talking about is More & More.
@itzy skz protector agreed. It’s a shame because I wanted to like the song. I liked the aesthetic and overall vibe. The fantastical/whimsical hippy vibe. But idk... the song just fell short for me. I feel like the members didn’t shine and the beat was also kind of annoyingly repetitive... The choreography was great I’ll give it that, but it’s probably my least favorite twice song
I dont think the "low effort" comment was aimed at the girls but at the management that is handling them. The girls themselves give their all but Div3 just literally does the bare minimum and called it a day for More & More era. They don't do shit to improve the way they handle things to efficiently promote TWICE as a group and as individuals.
Blackpink are marketed as celebrities instead of idols. Idols act like they owe something to their fans and seem to do everything to please them but it seems like blackpink are seen as people to look up to, not people to relate to. Like celebs, not idols. I hope I don't sound hateful, I'm a blink yet I have this feeling.
And that's how it should be. Kpop stans need to look at the idols as talented celebreties instead of looking at them as perfect dolls who deos everything to please their fans.
I think the main reason is because YG is trying to make them global, for example the recent scandal with Jennie in Lovesick Girls. In the western media is common to look nurses costumes like Jennie wore, or even more sexier (for me, Jennie's one is nothing compared to others), but in SK we can say that they were more sensitive.
I agree with the one about Loona, I love the Loonaverse and Im really curious about what will happen next about the songs i desagree, I honestly like that they change their concept but it still sounds like a Loona song, just like Red Velvet does (altho Loona are not that random), I think they did the 3 most popular concepts (innocent/cute, fairytale and girl crush) and I dont think they did to see what would give them more fans bc Loona always did different things over and over since Heejin, it's just their thing. In conclusion: stan red velvet and loona and burn BBC lmao
I absolutely agree with your point. The reason that LOONA changes concepts every comeback is due to all the members having different styles and colours, it is also what makes LOONA unique like RV, kinda like Rina Sawayama's recent album "Sawayama" where each track has its own genre. Despite them changing concepts, you can still hear that LOONA sound in their tracks which still makes them have the same style even if they're going for cute, dreamy, or badass. Similar to how RV switches concepts, but you can still hear that RV flavour in their comebacks. They are doing this for the lore and not to get more fans who have different tastes. But hey, at least there's a song for everyone, right? Now we are to wait to see how 12:00 sounds like. 😌
I hope they revamp the loonaverse so much! Jaden jong was not the only person to work on the timeline and I think they could still carry on without him
the loonaverse is not dead, I think that some passionate fans just quit their job tho (cough twinfish cough). the loonaverse is up for interpretation, but if there's no one to interpret it, it may seem 'dead'. I actually caught a lot of lore-related things in # and in the 12:00 teasers.
I think what they mean is that slightly changing concept is better than never changing or drastically changing your concept everytime. (I don't listen to loona but that's what I think they were trying to say)
I don’t think itzy’s songs are to say I’m not like other girls it’s more of being confident personality i love their songs they’re catchy and nice to dance to and listening when you’re feeling down and for loona I don’t think is bad that they have different concepts bc if they had the same everyone will hate on them like you said with itzy :/
I only disagree with you in loona's topic, change styles and present new and fresh concepts is their thing since the beginning, they showed this with the girls' solos and the units, all different styles and concepts, to show that loona is a versatile girlgroup who can fit in any concept, no matter which it is
I think they also have to make this style change to continue the loonaverse story, like from badass in so what, which finds Olivia burning the world, or Hi high whitch is a happy song when they find them all and run together. (sorry, i dont speek english xd)
@@luanabraico7672 yes, changing concepts match the whole loonaverse thing, they showed this with the solos, so doesn't even make sense people saying that they should just stop changing concepts (btw I'm not a native english speaker either, it's okay)

Cube should stop heavily relying on soyeon. First of all, Soyeon is an idol, not a full time producer. It's not her job to produce the group's albums and just because she can doesn't mean she should. They are literally taking advantage of her abilities and making her do all the dirty work 😤
It's her choice though, it's not like people are forcing her to 🤨 They're not making her do the "dirty work" if that's what helps her connect to her music better. She knows how to produce and she likes producing and she's AMAZING at it, why would you want her to stop??? Sure, she's now an idol and all, but she has been doing this stuff far before she debuted and is talented, so just because she doesn't need to do that stuff anymore doesn't mean she shouldn't. I really just don't understand why you WOULDN'T want a self-producing group to continue being self-sufficient and be as involved in their content as possible (or as involved in their content as they want to be)???? Being a rare self-producing gg is literally what makes them so unique, why would you want them to take that away??
There's a theory that so what, hi high and butterfly actually DOES have a correlation between eachother. There theories that re-establishes the idea that every loona comeback is a new way the timeline could’ve ended. Hi high was the good ending, so what was the bad ending, butterfly was the alternate ending, maybe midnight is the true ending.
i am so late to share my opinion on this but why not looks like a bad ending gone arguably okay i just started getting into the loonaverse and as i understand it, they're goal has been to break the loop but why not just end in everything being reversed, what do you think?
@@sirtheconfuser YES the girls are trying to break the loop and change their fates, maybe why not wasn't the true ending, but an eye opener. I think all the girls now know their roles in the loonaverse and are trying to go against it
I totally agree with solo activities for twice. I got so excited when chaeyoung was on google arts and culture, she was amazing! I would love to see her expand on her passion for art and share some of her own art with us, and I really would love if members had solo tracks.
the way that you contradicted yourself saying that itzy's self love concept is getting old but hate that loona does a lot of diverse concepts make it make sense lmao
i have to disagree with “itzy’s bsides are bad” lol. these songs are literally so good and unique, its one of the reasons why i love itzy so much. their music is just totally different, it sounds so young and fresh, i always feel like dancing. there are no skips on all their albums except for not shy tbh, i’m not a big fan of that concept. for me, their “it’z” concept was the best. but i’m not saying the not shy album is bad, i love some songs but i just prefer their older ones, especially their “it’z me” mini album
I mean, Itzys b-sides are decent, but they don't really stick out to me. The only b-side I kinda liked was Cherry. I don't know, I just think that a lot of their b-side don't have much of a unique element to it.
@@vronji I agree... tbh I kind of like the first mini album b-sides. But only Cherry got in my head. For some reason they are just forgettable. I feel like their b-sides could showcase their concept better... they all just kind of sound generic to me
1. Itzy b-sides are filler tracks rather than being actual coordinated with album theme. They do radiate the "not like other girls" but that gets catchy lmao. JYP wants them to push in west more. 2. SM is messed up as a whole, they're lucky that they have good producers and artists to save their name. To this day, Taemin complained about SM not promoting his solo properly, people don't even know his album is out there 😭. Also SM never cared about their idols doing cultural appropriation, just like cube. But ironically they want to push SuperM in west. SM doesn't deserve RV 3. I like More & More. They're just trying different stuff so they'll learn. I agree with solo promotion, I really don't know them individually except momo and jeongyeon. 4. They get cursed title tracks (except butterfly) I wasn't interested in checking loona because of hi high, but then i stumbled upon their b sided later, and realized they're actually gold i underestimated before. I'm sorry for loonaverse, that was a good journey, their mvs felt like a whole movie 5. Mamamoo really needs to be given international promotions! They deserve it, they've blown up in korea. 6. I think she should apologize, even though she had no malicious intentions. I really love her a lot, but her words hurt people, she generalized tribal cultures which are already mocked a lot. But i get it, it's not totally her fault, the society educated her like that, mostly stereotypical education which perpetuated from west thanks to western hegemony. Secondly, the gap between Uh-Oh and I trust was more than enough for them to have a full album, I even saw the members talking about it in fanmeet. They were going to comeback right before their world tour, which also meant they'll have a lot of songs to perform for. But due to covid-19 everything got delayed and cube constructed it into a mini album instead. Lion fits exactly in the theme of I trust, but not Luv U, because it seemed more like I Am. Cube also replaced another track with an English version. I'm tired of that.
2. SM ia not lucky. That company is smart and has a lot experience and resource to pick the best raw talent, to select the best trainer for their rookies/trainee, to pick producer/musician to produce their song..it just that they have so many top notch artis in group and individual career that overlapping in promoting. They need to works better to fix that with bigger staff and division. So all their artist will get better promotion at the same times.

I don't about any one else but I just hate when people say Fans are toxic. Like I feel if you say that you are basically saying every person who stabs a group is toxic which is not true. I feel like not all fans are toxic. That just needs to get into your head.
If you feel you have valid feedback(not just hate disguised as 'constructive critisism'), submit it to JYPE, if it's viable and fits with the group, I'm sure they will consider it, and stabbing/hating a group is toxic, also I've seen and read a lot of toxicity from fans and when confronted it's "constructive critisism" or "their opinion, so just respect that", which basically means they have no valid arguments so they try to shut the people confronting their hate up, so they won't have to try to justify their toxicity, a lot of fans are toxic, but I've never seen anybody say all fans are toxic, ever.
@@waynemackinnon3918 I've seen it so many times tho. ARMYs, EXO-Ls and BLINKs have been victims of this "the whole fandom is toxic" thing that some other kpoppies who dont stan these group say. It's a common sense that the bigger the fandom is, the more toxic fans are present and idk why cant some of the kpop fans understand this.
@@user-bear27 But if you perpetuate the fight, you are letting the toxic fans win, aren't you? Toxic fans, haters and trolls are the ones saying these hurtful things, and doing the same thing back, which only hurts nontoxic fans and potentially also more idols, doesn't help anyone, or am I wrong?
Im a once since 1 year and had been shy to tell my opinions because there are things i am not a fan of in twice but i think people would think the wrong way and see me as a hater when im just telling my opinion. Sometimes people dont have to like everything their fav idol or girl group put out there. Why does everyone expect us to love eveything lol. I genuinely love twice but i am not a fan of cute concepts and thats OK. Peoples need to really think about what they reply to other’s opinions because at the end its MY OPINION and atleast you should show a bit of respect to it. I literally felt so uncomfortable because i thought that im not a fan because of my opinions, but turns out i actually loved TWICE even more. Please guys respect others opinions no matter what, people hate being uncomfortable. 🙌🏻💗
i feel like red velvet could also work on their group chemistry/synchronization while performing, sometimes it feels like five separate idols preforming rather than red velvet as a group
group chemistry? lmao i think that's because you don't even know them. try again when you've gotten the chance to get to know the girls better lol. also their choreo is more individual based rather than group based which is why they "seem like five separate idols performing" because that's what makes their choreography different from other groups.
Ruby Li i literally ult rv?? im allowed to have an opinion lol. like i clearly said before, their lack of synchronicity or energy sometimes looks sloppy or makes them look disconnected from each other while performing. this is something that many reveluvs or kpop stans agree on, im not saying they’re bad performers in any way, i love the girls. but for example like clearly theres a difference between irene and wendys energy level while performing and i think thats something they could work on.
@@melodyarispe3429 i see where you are coming from, however that has nothing to do with group chemistry. i think you confused "group chemistry" with "stage presence". group chemistry means how close the members are in real life and how strong their bond is, which is something red velvet excels in. what you were talking about was stage presence, not group chemistry.
Ruby Li sort of, individually and as a group they all have really good stage presence and they are all great performers so that really isnt a problem. im saying their styles and performing dynamic arent cohesive with eachothers as a group which is their performance chemistry. chemistry can best be described as “the complex emotional or physical interaction between two people” per oxford dictionary and thats what im describing. i know they all love eachother and are super close off stage im saying while dancing or performing i don’t see this bond or connection due to the lack of synchronization and similar energy on stage.
@@rruuyl actually the op phrased it right by saying "group chemistry while performing" bcoz performances also require interaction between all the members. That's why they are a group.
i've listened to all itzy's bsides and i liked them all because they are my cup of tea BUT they are all so similar and that doesn't make them so memorable.they need to do more genres
I love 'more and more', it was like a breath of fresh air for me because I was kind of getting sick of their cute concept. Like, I know it was their thing, similar blackpink and their girl crush concept, but at least blackpink switched it up like with aiiyl. Ooh-Aah and Feel Special were the closest things to a different concept we've ever gotten and I really wanted something different. Twice are grown women who've been in the industry for about six years now, that cutesy stuff is getting old, I want to see them mature and see their music mature with them and I think 'more and more' was a great way to do that. The video was a bit cheap looking, but the song overall was really good in my opinion and I'd love to see more like this.
@@thegoldenpolarbear5936 I totally agree, they always find a way to get stuck in your head. Also, yeah, their latest comebacks knocked my socks off! They're exactly what I was hoping for. The girls are maturing and their music is maturing with them.
Hmm who knows? Cause the concept of Cultural appropriation isn't really a thing taken into account in South Korea if that makes sense? I'm not saying it was right of them but I guess considering for some Asian countries including South Korea taking parts of culture is a sign of respect so that's why some people don't understand why others get offended by it.
Yeah I live in an Asian country too and I was so suprised at the fact that there is a thing called cultural appropriation and people are offended by it. If my culture represented in kpop like that I would be happy. We even have a meme for that, when our country gets mentiond in anyway we start spamming "Hang the flags". It's the way of showing how proud we are, even for the slighest things. It's cringey, I know. Now I understand why people are offended by it. But you can't expect everyone to understand the concept of cultural appropriation. All countries have difference values. Since use of internet increased a lot, in the future more people will come to realise the importance of issues like cultural appropriation, blackface etc. But it's not something can be suddenly done.
I am from a racially pure country in Europe, the concept was so strange to me. Even ALM and BLM, I never thought much of it I was like meh same thing one is just a bit more inclusive, until someone kindly explained it to me instead of attacking me for not knowing. People that are hateful towards others because of their ignorance seem so self centered to me. Like not everyone has to know everything abput your culture and your history. I understand that someone might have hurt you willfully in the past maybe someone that looks like me, but that isn't my responsibility. You can't hold the same standard to me and someone from 'a melting pot of cultures'. I have been exposed to one thing and u shouldn't expect me to onow more than that immediately. I feel like same applies to idols
I'm from South America and i didn't know the term until 5 or 6 month ago, I think only English speakers know about that because i've never heard it in Spanish.
Same here, i'm from Argentina, only got to know all that CA thing because of Kpop, here we don't have that, i'm not saying that racism doesn't exist, but i don't know, we see things differently?? And thats ok, i can't decide what it's offensive and what not for other people , it's just that CA is something new to me, i still don't fully understand it
I agree with the wendy part but like? Do you not know what the word racism means? "prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized." What's wendy said is not ok but it wasnt racist. She didnt show hostility, discrimination, or prejudice. She mimicked what a 'typical sassy black woman' would sound like. And even thought she likely didnt mean it in a way that harmed people. It did show ignorance and lack of sensitivity and education on how important actual racism is. She needs to apologize. I just wished people didnt throw the word around like a frisbee
That's my only gripe about the situation on how fans handled it. Racist is a very strong word that doesn't apply to that 1 situation you would need more situations to figure that out.
I was thinking the same yes she stereotyped and gave in to racist stereotypes but I can’t imagine her treating someone of colour different bcs of their skin or thinking racist thoughts with like malice? idk
Manasa Prakash so basically wendy went on a variety show and since wendy has lived overseas in the US and Canada the mc’s asked her if different races have a distinctive accent and she said yes and did a stereotypical accent of a black girl and a white girl. the problem was is that her imitation of the black girl was a sassy/rude “what did you say girl? why you looking at me?” unlike how the white girls one was a stereotypical “oh my god he’s so hot!” although it wasn’t raciest, it was stereotypical and it makes black girls look bad to a korean audience. but it’s also important to remember that stereotypes can lead to racism. because if a korean was watching that without ever meeting a black girl before they might think that’s what they are all like. also, this was the second time she had done this. she had done it previously in a radio interview (doing the same impression of a white and black girl) and received backlash then, but still ignored it and did it again. anyways I hope that wasn’t confusing and I hope I explained it well lol!
you can still stan someone who have done problematic as long as you hold them accountable for something they have done that offends you or someone else
if you are a NEW reveluv then you probably don't know the back story. you probably only heard "wendy is racist" without knowing anything about the situation. there was a huge misunderstanding with this whole thing that never should have happened. long story short, wendy is NOT racist. she was asked to imitate popular girls from her high school in Canada on a variety show which she did without mentioning the races or anything like that. people then assumed that she was racist because apparently some mistranslations happened. here's the thing: wendy is IGNORANT, but not RACIST. the word "racist" is being thrown around by people who don't understand what it means. wendy as someone who studied abroad should have known better and not have done those actions because they offended some fans, therefore making her "ignorant", however none of it was "racist". did she show discrimination or prejudice of any kind against black people? no. I'm not saying what she did was right, but it was not racist and people need to stop assuming things when they don't even know the situation. i understand why people would be upset over that and i am not black so i know i don't get to decide whether other people can get offended or not, however the one thing that's clear is that wendy is ignorant, not racist.
Ruby Li I’m a black reveluv and my bias used to be Wendy but i can’t look at her the same after knowing that she’s done this twice with no apology. Wendy may not be racist but the action of perpetuating harmful stereotypes (intentional or unintentional) is racist. The stereotype that all black women are loud, rude, or ghetto makes the world view us as less than everybody else and that stereotype is used to justify harm that is done to black women (assault, etc). I will still support the group as a whole but until Wendy apologizes, I won’t stan her.
@@cookiemonster8184 the word "racist" means "showing or feeling discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or believing that a particular race is superior to another." wendy did not do any of that, I'm not saying what she did was right or that she should have done any of it, but she is not racist. her intention was not to discriminate any race, she was just uneducated and ignorant. yes she is at fault and what she did was wrong, however it was ignorant, not racist. people confuse those two words way too often. also from what i know, wendy did issue an apology somewhere which i do not remember. like i said, i do not get to decide whether people get can offended or not since i am not black, but there is a clear line between racism and ignorance.
I actually became a once because of more and more... I love this song and the more mature concept... I also really love Feel special and their older songs
also yall be acting as if wendy isn't purposely not apologizing - like it's sm they will never let their artists apologize, if she continues doing problematic things like oh my girl then that's another story
Jeon Jungkook idk if I’m 100% correct but I think there’s a video from around 2016? of her like talking like a stereotypical black and white woman and hasn’t put out a apology or statement
yeah that's what baffled me ab the whole 97 line going out to a bar and how sm allowed jaehyun to write an apology over some website posting misinformation....
In my personal opinion regarding the Wendy situation, I don’t believe she was being racist but very stereotypical towards black people and how they supposedly act.
it is racist, as i am black, it is racist. if you say “ching chong” to an asian person and that’s seen as racist, why can’t this be seen as racist? they’re both racial stereotypes that are broken, so yes it is racist. end of argument and discussion. even if it is your opinion, it is indeed racist! wendy or not, it is general racism.
@@fudo7482 I completely respect you’re opinion as I am black as well! Since I’ve posted this comment I have been thinking about this situation and at the end of the day believe Wendy and/or SM should, or should’ve issued an apology. I at first believed it was just VERY stereotypical, but now I can see she was being racist, whether it was intentional or not.
I think it'z Me B-sides is made with intent to be played to parties or club, 'cuz its genre is dance(s: ssjyp) I think. Like, you listen to make yourself hyper.
i feel that kpop companies should release more solo content that shows off their idol's talents bc they are not usually able to showcase them during promotional performances (bc all the members have to share the spotlight and vocal/rap/dance parts). but companies dont do that bc it's not very profitable. they dont usually get revenue from song covers bc they can get copyrighted, so companies send them to TV programs instead. TV programs are great to get idols more known, so im not mad about that. I think idols could be doing song/dance covers on vlive/insta live like SVT Seungkwan's "we remember kpop", bc that way they can interact with fans and show off their talents at the same time.
I feel like am the only person on earth who like red velvet's jewel cases. They could have put them in a box or sth but other than that I really like having my cds in a jewel case.
honestly they're kinda cute but there are definitely things better than that. also they could've been higher quality since rv is from such a big company
red velvet does have box album packages, i own three of them (two reve festivals, irene&seulgi monster album). jewel cases are cheaper, and an option if you just want the cd. it's not like the regular album packages don't exist, so i don't see why people are complaining about the jewel cases. some people prefer just the cd, while others like to collect the album packages. if you buy their album packages, there is a LOT of stuff in them. however, jewel cases are cheaper and might be a better option for those on a budget. if red velvet just released album packages, and not other versions like jewel cases, then people would complain about it being too pricey.
Mamamoo did CA in the past but they have apologized. As a Reveluv and a MooMoo, RBW and SMent should educate their idols and trainees about CA and racism. Afterall it's for their own good.
Actually not only these two companies all companies in general need to educate their idols abt these issues As a moomoo I feel so bad when people bring up Mamamoo's past controversies just to hate on them even though they have apologised
@@Briargh it's not about accepting the apology, it's about making the effort to apologize to something they've done because of ignorance. i'm saying this because as a moomoo i always notice fandoms from other problematic groups always try to drag mamamoo for the mistakes they've done in the past. and guess what, these groups never apologized. the difference when a group apologizes is that their fans recognizes their mistakes but when the company ignores the issue, their fans will most likely take their favs side and defend them saying something like "they didnt mean it", "it was the stylist", etc. if all kpop groups acknowledged their mistakes no fandom would have the gall of taking the moral high ground just because their group "never" did anything problematic in the past.
With the wendy situation- I actually agree that this situation should be resolved. However I don't agree with the term 'racism'. Racism is discrimination with the intend to hurt people. I honestly don't belive Wendy wanted to do that, since she actually had black friends pre debut. I think it was a ignorant action, and she should've apologized for it.
As a black person I will say this, racism is a far more complex situation than I think most can grasp. Racism mostly presents itself in smaller ways than you'd think, it isn't always shouting slurs or performing hate crimes. Your average person's racism manifests in small ways, for example how they treat, talk to, or talk about other races. Racism isn't always cartoonishly mean awful people, it's more nuanced than that. Racism isn't always an "intent" what Wendy did was show an implicit bias and perpetuate negative stereotypes against black people, it was harmful and disappointing to see. Ignorance does not excuse a person's actions, and that's not anger speaking that's just a fact. Think about it like this, you break a law without knowing about it, but saying "i didn't know" is not an accepted defence. On the topic of Wendy's "black friends," it is common knowledge that having black friends does not mean you are not racist, if anything it's more disappointing that she would feed into negative racial stereotypes considering she knew actual black people. I hope she grew from that but i wish they would just address and apologise for the situation.
@@aaljustaal1890 thank you for clearing this up! I guess you're right. I am still not sure if I'd label Wendy as racist, since this was a one time thing, but we don't know how she is generally so I will not make any more statements like this!
8:10 you spoke my mind. I can't get into LOONA that well simply because of the lack of consistency. It just confuses me and sadly makes me disinterested more than actually interested. And the loonaverse, come ONNNN WE NEED MORE. it is so so interesting when groups do this. And OH MY GOD. Mamamoo, I love them to bits but come onnn I can't tell you how much I love them and would adore one of their concerts, but they are not coming to England here where I live. I'm not even kidding, if I ever want to see them in person I will have to travel to Asia or more specifically korea. RBW is beyond lazy with mamamoo. They have so much potential abroad.
honestly i got into mamamoo in late 2019 (being a kpop stan for five years and i ignored them wtf?) and i loved them, but someone pointed out their racist past? like blackface and stuff and i don't know what to feel... but i really don't like how people are targeting them like come on they're people, get a life
Mamamoo apologized for what they did. It's up to you to believe on their apologies tho but considering they apologized for that makes you see it differently.
Technically they did blackface in the past while imitating a Bruno Mars video, probably by ignorance (as usual for kpop groups) and then apologized along with their company. The biggest difference being that RBW actually clarifies and apologizes for their mistakes, which other companies rarely do.
The Things I Hate About Red Velvet Are: 1. The Styling (Peek A Boo era was the best styling) Most of their comebacks have terrible styling Like Zimzalabim era. Wendy ALWAYS gets the worst outfits, it’s so unfair. Joy always gets outfits that are to tight on her, also very uncomfortable, which effects her dancing. Yeri always gets outfits that don’t fit her body type. Irene usually gets the best outfits. Seulgi’s outfits change, like Rookie & Zimzalabim era she got terrible outfits, but in Bad Boy & Peek A Boo era she got great outfits. 2. How the line distributions are always unfair. 3. The screen time distributions. The members usually with the most screen time are either Irene or Seulgi. Joy, Wendy, & Yeri need more time. 4. The Positions. Joy’s positions are Lead Rapper & Vocalist, Her positions should be Lead Vocalist & Rapper. She used to rap a lot in the beginning, but now she barely raps. Her vocals have improved from debut, she is amazing, she also has been getting great vocal time lately, like her awesome high note in Umpah Umpah. Yeri’s positions are Rapper & Vocalist, they should be Lead Rapper & Vocalist. She basically raps a lot, more than Joy, so she should have the Lead Rapper position, even though I think Joy is a slightly better rapper than her. 5. Their Promotions. They only have 3 dance practices, other groups have tons of them. Their albums are terrible and cheep. They have terrible outfits. They also never really promote their comebacks very well. Also they basically barely ever promote their concerts. 6. One Of These Nights. The song should be a b side, another other b side on the Album is called Cool Hot Sweet Love, it has a dance & is really catchy. This song should be the title track. I do love One Of These Nights, but I HATE the dance to it, if you can really can it that. Overall I love their Title Tracks & B sides!
As a black reveluv I’m still kind of pissed that she never apologized but I’ve learned to forgive but not forget I will always be OT5 but still be waiting for an apology.
This needs to be cleared up with every Kpop fan; These idols are not racist. Their IGNORANT. What they did wasn't right, but racist is not the term to use. Racism means having extreme hate and loathing for another race. These idols have not done it out of hate, but out of ignorance.
Itzy's theme of confidence is definitely repetitive but I think that's what I love most about them, especially after that interview they did talking about all their insecurities. I think we don't have enough girl group songs about self-confidence and self-love, and I'm very far from being sick of it. I've heard a lot of people telling them to just make songs about love or relationships instead because that has more variation to it... I hate that. Let them sing about being confident. I loved what Chaeryong said in that interview. Something about how they all struggle to be confident, like every other person out there, but singing about it onstage has helped her believe it more. So I think they should keep doing it. I won't ever get sick of it.
The more and more album is gold though. A really good summer album. Also, if you are gonna talk about Wendy, shouldn’t you talk about mamamoo and hwasa?
the way moomoos thought the change in youtube rules would make them sub, but nope, still down to fans. RBDumb just keeps getting shadier. The least they could do is pay the fans who do it.
10:16 True and the fact that Soyeon is Akali's voice from K/DA gives her more work. And also a fact that (probably not alot of people know) is that Minnie had a collab with Wengie for the song Empire (witch was ranked in Billbord top 100 songs and incase if people don't know who Wengie is, she is an artist and Australian youtuber)
I was thinking the same thing 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 but I wish it was also addressed in the same manner except pointing out that they’ve apologized, but that people don’t have to accept the apology.
as an itzy stan i agree with everything you said. from the concept, to the tour, the the "it'z me" album. but their not shy album was pretty good, not shy and surf are the best songs on it :)

About "Wendy's racism", I think it is the mc's fault because why would she/he ask Wendy to do that and the question was " how do you think black girls speak" so I think she based it on her black girl friends before
I don't think it should be considered as 'racism' as it means that person thinks higher of themselves/ that their race is better than others. perhaps ignorance would be better?? she should get a better grasp about what's disrespectful and wrong. she most likely didn't mean to offend anyone but it really came off as ignorant. I can certainly agree that dodging the issue was really a dumb move, esp. on SMs part seeing as they tend to do that a lot, but racism is too strong of a word for something ignorant done. some people are taking things out of context tho and it's actually worsening the topic. and yes the MCs should also be better educated on stuff like that. it puts a lot of idols in bad light esp. if they can't dodge the question as professionally as they can. no hate or whatever to anyone, you, the mcs or the idols! just wanting to change the term to a more proper one. thanks!
@@ethanjamessoriano7126 that's true. Thanks for the clarification, just wanted to stop the spreading of Wendy being 'racist' when she isn't. But yeah I do hope MCs would also really educate themselves on issues like this.
Don't get me wrong, I really like Wendy and rv as a whole but I don't think you can blame the mc for her doings... no one forced her to say that. I think she could have handled the situation differently.
For Itzy I’m pretty sure JYP did not expect them to be so successful but I personally really like their music and a lot of their b-sides are really good. There concept for me is also really cool and I really like all their stuff but ya know to each their own
Oh the Loonaverse is definitely still ongoing~ Also about how Hi High, Butterfly, and So What shows nothing in common, I feel that way about their upcoming comeback lmao JUST LOOK AT THE 1ST AND 2ND CONCEPT PHOTOS im so confused 😭
as a reveluv I thought wendy apologized- everyone was protecting her saying she did just because they like her. I'm severely disappointed in her for not apologizing and forgetting it even happened. Plus, she's from Canada so I know she knew it was racist! The twice one I also agree with. jyp acts like they don't have talents like chaeyoung. She's an amazing rapper but she never gets to show it off. I really hope they make a hip-hop song that would surely show their amazing talents. I also agree with the loona one i think if they stay with the "so what" concept, theyll get even more wins .
I like how your problem with mamamoo is their company. Nothing about Hwasa’s racsist incident (which wasn’t her fault since it wasn’t her decision to do it). They tend to stay away from drama, and that’s what I like about them.
@@-a7181 I mean many idols have done controversial stuff related to racism or cultural appropriation, that doesn't mean all of them are racist, they're just ignorant, i'm asian and people in asia aren't really taught about stuff like that, I wouldn't have known either (I came to know when I travelled to the US and I was talking to my dad and said a word in my language that sounded like the n word, and some white girls heard it and got angry)
Eventhough im not agree to some, what i want to say is actually this is kinda interesting content bcs most fans act like we have to love whatever idol release etc, like i just hate a certain thing i still love them and stan them regardless
That's true I didnt think of that
It's pretty reasonable
2yeon and jihyo doing vocal, then momo+mina+sana on dance, and dahyun/chae/tzuyu as rap
the main issue w that is who would take what role within the units. who would be the main dancer in the vocal subunit? what about the main vocal in the dance subunit, or the main vocal in the rap subunit?
of the group i think chae and jihyo are most prepared for a whole solo song. chae's shown that she's a pretty solid vocalist + one of the best gg rappers atm while she lacks in dancing, but jihyo's a strong vocalist and dancer and we haven't seen her rap yet. perhaps...... duo subunit?
Hmm i think jyp should do what sm did for snsd. Since debut all members get to shine in multiple variety shows, dancing shows or singing shows. And now, i could say that all members in snsd are popular on their own, i mean koreans in general knows them individually.
But with twice, there is a lot of group promotions, which is unnecessary for now since they are already popular as a group. I doubt that the members are popular individually in the eyes of the general knets, except for kpoppers and once. And what jyp did, especially special stage is just focusing on certain members only
Wannabe was literally a self-love song and being confident and independent does not equate to trying to be ‘not like other girls’
It actually does.
Nah it's like Itzy's songs are just straight up shouting "you should love yourself let's be confident" instead of actually exploring HOW to do that. It's very surface-level. I still like their title tracks a lot, but the "not like other girls" energy comes from the concept getting stale. Self-love isn't as simple as "be confident I'm different I don't care about others opinions." Itzy's self love concept is still shallow and promotional now but with time it should mature into something more meaningful
EDIT: Because this comment is blowing up and some of yall can't fucking read and/or think your faves, who are rookies, are perfect, stop coming for my neck.
yall can't deny that Dalla Dalla and Icy were promoted as being self-love and inspiring but weren't meaningful at all. I have acknowledged that Itzy are still talented rookies, and that I have hopes that as they mature they will grow into a more meaningful concept. Your faves got SO EXCITED to show new sides of them, even if it was in a bside, so why are yall, the fanbase, so against it?
@@lala4843 Aren't you not updated that they changed their concept with Not Shy now? Lol
Exactly.
Sara J. Hudson not really

Wdum by cheap😂btw more and more was a 5 year old demo
And I think jyp is hesitant to give twice solo stuff is beacuse if what happend to his previous group miss a

As a stay I never realized how similar we were
loona was made to try different concepts, thats what they'd stated from the beginning, they literally went from ViViD a kind of RnB (?) pop song to Around You which was a ballad with 2jin's solos, from their very first moments you could tell they were going to be a very diverse group. trying new concepts is literally their thing
That’s what I love about loona how they change their sound ^_^

Twice should leave jyp when they disband if they ever want a chance to redeem themselves as more than just radio friendly visual group.

hate to break it to you but a group doesn't need to stick to a style forever, that's not how it works.

It's only me then lmao ig
yunki dunki yess me too! I love all their songs
On another note, Nobody like me and Don't give a what are two of my favorite bsides from 2020 :D
all of itzy's b-sides are title track material. to me it shouldn't be like that. they have title track structure that makes it sound the same.
Itzy song aren’t my preference , the songs on the new album are good tho (I personally don’t like them), but in my opinion not on txt level of bsides - txt have one of the discographies in the whole kpop industry -

this situation is a mess and a half but she allegedly did apologize but it was at a fan meet when fans told her they were upset with what she did. im not sure if it’s true or not but you can find it as a top comment on this one korean video
I understood that at first but then she later ratifies to More & More. I loved the concept but didn't like the song that much.
I actually relate to them but I get what u mean 💜

I really just don't understand why you WOULDN'T want a self-producing group to continue being self-sufficient and be as involved in their content as possible (or as involved in their content as they want to be)???? i am so late to share my opinion on this but why not looks like a bad ending gone arguably okay
i just started getting into the loonaverse and as i understand it, they're goal has been to break the loop but why not just end in everything being reversed, what do you think?
Honestly tho. Like what is it? You want the same concept or different concepts?
Lmao true
STAN LOONA AND ITZY BOYSS
i have to disagree with “itzy’s bsides are bad” lol. these songs are literally so good and unique, its one of the reasons why i love itzy so much. their music is just totally different, it sounds so young and fresh, i always feel like dancing. there are no skips on all their albums except for not shy tbh, i’m not a big fan of that concept. for me, their “it’z” concept was the best. but i’m not saying the not shy album is bad, i love some songs but i just prefer their older ones, especially their “it’z me” mini album
yess proud midzy here, also don't get why people think think they're over using their concept when other ggs are on their 5th love song 💀💀
I feel like their b-sides could showcase their concept better... they all just kind of sound generic to me
Yesss Ik I listen to that’s a no no everyday
SM doesn't deserve RV
I'm sorry for loonaverse, that was a good journey, their mvs felt like a whole movie
Llppllppplpllll
ppl lllpllppl
I agree with all of this

Itz me by itzy is great... I can't think otherwise
@@thegoldenpolarbear5936
I totally agree, they always find a way to get stuck in your head. Also, yeah, their latest comebacks knocked my socks off! They're exactly what I was hoping for. The girls are maturing and their music is maturing with them.
yeah same like I don't like cute concepts much so I loved cry for me
Hmm who knows?
@@sillyvester4890 But cultural appropriation is misunderstood, cultural appropriation is when you use a culture just for money.

And thats ok, i can't decide what it's offensive and what not for other people , it's just that CA is something new to me, i still don't fully understand it

that was indeed the goal when I made it, so glad to hear that!
I was thinking the same yes she stereotyped and gave in to racist stereotypes but I can’t imagine her treating someone of colour different bcs of their skin or thinking racist thoughts with like malice? idk
Hi I am not a redvelvet stan so Idk what this issue was. can u explain me?
Manasa Prakash so basically wendy went on a variety show and since wendy has lived overseas in the US and Canada the mc’s asked her if different races have a distinctive accent and she said yes and did a stereotypical accent of a black girl and a white girl. the problem was is that her imitation of the black girl was a sassy/rude “what did you say girl? why you looking at me?” unlike how the white girls one was a stereotypical “oh my god he’s so hot!” although it wasn’t raciest, it was stereotypical and it makes black girls look bad to a korean audience. but it’s also important to remember that stereotypes can lead to racism. because if a korean was watching that without ever meeting a black girl before they might think that’s what they are all like. also, this was the second time she had done this. she had done it previously in a radio interview (doing the same impression of a white and black girl) and received backlash then, but still ignored it and did it again. anyways I hope that wasn’t confusing and I hope I explained it well lol!

needed this😌😌
if you are a NEW reveluv then you probably don't know the back story. you probably only heard "wendy is racist" without knowing anything about the situation. there was a huge misunderstanding with this whole thing that never should have happened. long story short, wendy is NOT racist. she was asked to imitate popular girls from her high school in Canada on a variety show which she did without mentioning the races or anything like that. people then assumed that she was racist because apparently some mistranslations happened. here's the thing: wendy is IGNORANT, but not RACIST. the word "racist" is being thrown around by people who don't understand what it means. wendy as someone who studied abroad should have known better and not have done those actions because they offended some fans, therefore making her "ignorant", however none of it was "racist". did she show discrimination or prejudice of any kind against black people?

What Wendy did?
Jeon Jungkook idk if I’m 100% correct but I think there’s a video from around 2016? of her like talking like a stereotypical black and white woman and hasn’t put out a apology or statement
also what it made it slightly worse that she did it a 2nd time
yeah that's what baffled me ab the whole 97 line going out to a bar and how sm allowed jaehyun to write an apology over some website posting misinformation....
I've always felt that it's people that has nothing to do with cultural appropriation, who talks about it
In my personal opinion regarding the Wendy situation, I don’t believe she was being racist but very stereotypical towards black people and how they supposedly act.
it is racist, as i am black, it is racist. if you say “ching chong” to an asian person and that’s seen as racist, why can’t this be seen as racist? they’re both racial stereotypes that are broken, so yes it is racist. end of argument and discussion. even if it is your opinion, it is indeed racist! wendy or not, it is general racism.
Actually not only these two companies all companies in general need to educate their idols abt these issues

@@ruru_u. Indeed. Some people remember someone's mistake than the good deeds they have done.
@@ruru_u. especially when so many other Kpop groups have done it, and haven't apologized like MMM did
Y’all do realize you don’t have to accept an apology... right?
I agree, hindsight is huge in those situations and I wish she would have apologized like right after it happened.
are you black? cause if you're not you don't get to "agree" wether it's racist or not
As a black person I will say this, racism is a far more complex situation than I think most can grasp.

Mamamoo apologized for what they did. It's up to you to believe on their apologies tho but considering they apologized for that makes you see it differently.
@@luciavazquezarias4723 if they aren't black, it's not their apology to accept
Technically they did blackface in the past while imitating a Bruno Mars video, probably by ignorance (as usual for kpop groups) and then apologized along with their company. The biggest difference being that RBW actually clarifies and apologizes for their mistakes, which other companies rarely do.
Being an international Moomoo I do wish they do more global promotions as well. I'm glad they only had that problem.💜
The Things I Hate About Red Velvet Are:

This needs to be cleared up with every Kpop fan;
These idols are not racist.
I miss the Loonaverse - literally what got me into them at the end of last year too
yeah same. hopefully we'll get some hidden or extra stuff this new comeback!

@@chiarakia386 sorry means wont do it again soooooo she does it everytime what's sorry then
bruh itzy albums slap so hard tho????
about the loona one: i started stanning them last month bc of the loona verse. they could gain more fans if they posted more about it
as an itzy stan i agree with everything you said. from the concept, to the tour, the the "it'z me" album. but their not shy album was pretty good, not shy and surf are the best songs on it :)
personally as someone who ults itzy i had to listen to itz me and not shy bsides on repeat at least five times to hear the differences (except for surf & be in love & nobody like you) cause yes they do sound kind of the same at first but now i hear the differences and god i love imagining myself walking down the runway with this songs, btw ting ting ting soty ^^
hello i am from the future- you may like itzys song "not shy"
About "Wendy's racism", I think it is the mc's fault because why would she/he ask Wendy to do that and the question was " how do you think black girls speak" so I think she based it on her black girl friends before
I don't think it should be considered as 'racism' as it means that person thinks higher of themselves/ that their race is better than others. perhaps ignorance would be better?? she should get a better grasp about what's disrespectful and wrong. she most likely didn't mean to offend anyone but it really came off as ignorant. I can certainly agree that dodging the issue was really a dumb move, esp. on SMs part seeing as they tend to do that a lot, but racism is too strong of a word for something ignorant done. some people are taking things out of context tho and it's actually worsening the topic. and yes the MCs should also be better educated on stuff like that. it puts a lot of idols in bad light esp. if they can't dodge the question as professionally as they can. no hate or whatever to anyone, you, the mcs or the idols! just wanting to change the term to a more proper one. thanks!
@@lordjackal58 thanks for that but what I was trying to say was that why would the mc ask her this
@@ethanjamessoriano7126 that's true. Thanks for the clarification, just wanted to stop the spreading of Wendy being 'racist' when she isn't. But yeah I do hope MCs would also really educate themselves on issues like this.
didn't she actually imitate one of her friend and didn't actually say this is how black girls act
Don't get me wrong, I really like Wendy and rv as a whole but I don't think you can blame the mc for her doings... no one forced her to say that. I think she could have handled the situation differently.
Don’t disrespect Cherry, Ting Ting Ting, and That’s a No No ☹️🥺😭
For Itzy I’m pretty sure JYP did not expect them to be so successful but I personally really like their music and a lot of their b-sides are really good. There concept for me is also really cool and I really like all their stuff but ya know to each their own
More & more is one of my favorites of all time-
Oh the Loonaverse is definitely still ongoing~ Also about how Hi High, Butterfly, and So What shows nothing in common, I feel that way about their upcoming comeback lmao JUST LOOK AT THE 1ST AND 2ND CONCEPT PHOTOS im so confused 😭
lol this comeback is not gonna be a new concept...BUT 50 CONCEPTS LMAO
as a reveluv I thought wendy apologized- everyone was protecting her saying she did just because they like her.

I was surprised to be honest usually people talk about that mainly
@@-a7181 I mean many idols have done controversial stuff related to racism or cultural appropriation, that doesn't mean all of them are racist, they're just ignorant, i'm asian and people in asia aren't really taught about stuff like that, I wouldn't have known either (I came to know when I travelled to the US and I was talking to my dad and said a word in my language that sounded like the n word, and some white girls heard it and got angry)
Eventhough im not agree to some, what i want to say is actually this is kinda interesting content bcs most fans act like we have to love whatever idol release etc, like i just hate a certain thing i still love them and stan them regardless
i agree with a lot of points made ❤️ although i wish you would have addressed mamamoo the way you addressed wendy and idles appropriation
