You guys really went above and beyond to rescue this. Maximum respect for that, love your show and this is a prime example why. You collectively have the best passion and skill for restoring cars that many would not dare to touch.

I remember watching this, and thinking 'that needs a new shell or its going to take months'.
I am so glad you uploaded this...it gives your show far more credence.
Thinking....this could have easily been a 2 part show...and really nice of Fuzz to give credit to the bodywork guys.
Come on National Geographic...we need more stuff like this or people who want to see a car re-built will turn to UA-cam.

I think this is fantastic to see just how much work goes into these restorations. For anyone who's interested, my opinion is that the format of the broadcast programme is fine as it is, you get to see a bit of the technical stuff but you have to remember that a massive part of the show is of course, the person who the car is being fixed for and it needs to be entertaining too. Tim and Fuzz are a good presenting team and make the show appealing enough to get more series commissioned each time. Then for anyone who wants to see a bit more of the work done, these videos are very good. One last thing, could someone at National Geographic please get Fuzz some ear defenders!

I´m restoring a Fiat X1/9. Bought it for 300£ in the UK. It looked like it needed a lot of work, but drove okay. When I got home with it and took a closer look..I didn´t sleep that night :D Lots of home made panels later, the body is fine again. Probably way more resistant to rust than when she rolled out of the factory back then. But hey, it´s been fun.

Wow I started my apprenticeship when 15 in 1970 working on Mercedes Benz so this one brings back memories. Them days mechanics were mechanics with no computers. Without a computer the so called technicians today have no clue as to the problem. Great program.

Hey, I've got a rusty tin shed in my backyard, do youse recon youse could make me a Bugatti Veyron out of it? I'd be most appreciative.......

I'm glad the show seems to have dropped the fiction that "we only have 3 weeks to do it". We all know these projects are way bigger than that (and in many shows you see other cars from the series in the background). It's highly commendable that you really seem to do it properly. I'd love to know how the finances work, but that's probably one bit of telly magic that might be best left unexplained. :)

And to think, Mercedes has pretty much the most available "parts" (you can still build a W123 from scratch, the whole pressed steel side sections are available)...just imagine doing something like that on any other car, having to fabricate EVERY part...this has most certainly taken a LOT longer than 3 weeks.

the show should have been in two parts , this work and workmanship needed to be shown , people needed to see this, and getting two episodes would have off set the restoration costs against production costs , a lost opportunity there to show what can be done , in this country when it needs done , i would have had the car on a measuring bench for the work , but thee guys did a great job , in the show it didnt get ten seconds , a true opportunity missed.
    great result though ,

I have a 250sl w113 and I’m thinking how is possible to have a car in this conditions with such a huge amount of rust . Probably this car has been kept outside in the rain and salt and snow for its entire life . There is no other explanation to me . Uk is not the best place to buy classics I guess .

Saw this episode 7th Feb 2018 on tv. What a load of tosh!!!. I'll bet the owner got his wife to contact SOS for this restoration. It must have taken 3 months to rebuild this car and if you believe the owner's mate suggested storing the car in his lock up instead of the owner's lock up you'll believe the moon is made of cheese.

great program but in this case i think the owners knew how bad it was. thats why they had all the story he watched it on cctv and they was not to look under bonnet under car could not touch it open doors. the guy was a garage owner mechanic and car sales man for decades and his friend was a mechanic they all knew it was a set up in the end he wasn't that surprised at all . he could of had it restored by some one else and paid. but this way got it for free me thinks,.. but maybe wrong
