Honestly, I don't know why most of the people in this sitcom make fun of Ross for being a paleontologist. I don't see a problem with a person working on something that he loves, I know Ross from time to time can exaggerate, but their Friends make it look like his career is something useless just because is not a "real doctor" I think is overly mean.

Imagine how Rachel would behave if Ross attacked Rachel’s career, education and hobby like that in front of another man. Ross remained cool. Rachel is a good friend, but she is just too toxic as a girlfriend and ex-girlfriend.
You remember the time Ross made a list about Rachel's pros and cons and in the cons he put "Just a waitress"? The thing is, they always supported his career and were proud of him (including Rachel), but they all made fun of it as well (not only Rachel) because he was a bit too nerdy and liked to show off that he was a doctor in Paleontology. She's toxic tho, and so is he.

So it was ok for Ross to date girls while Rachel was pregnant but when rachel had interest ross would get mad like what is that about, Rachel was open about her feelings and she was pregnant obviously she wanted the father of her child to be there all the time but Ross automatically got upset in a toxic way!

Their relationship is toxic from all sides. They both couldn't move on and sabotaged each other constantly. Demeaned and looked down on each other's careers and passions, thinking it's either boring or useless. Not that compatible at all, only pushed together because of weird nerd and cheerleader couple trend back then. Most of their interactions are being jealous and possessive of each other when they're not together and constant bickering when they are. Very exhausting and not that wholesome "they're each other's lobster".

I understand that Rachel being jealous is to show that she still has feelings for Ross but I am on Phoebe’s side. If they’re not married or dating then there is no reason for her to be jealous
but Rachel herself will nullify all this by saying I don't want to get romantically involved with Ross. She's confused in this regard, but she's decisive when she has to make sure Ross shouldn't have fun with other girls or even date them. Here it seems him accept someone's advances is also not allowed by Rachel.
Being pregnant with someone's child is something really serious and being there, shopping for their baby together makes it even more serious. They're family even if they don't realize it. She shouldn't even think hitting on Ross and not just out of respect. It was more than sure that he was going to choose Rachel over her.
@@tsof23 Exactly, even though they said they weren’t a couple, the cashier woman’s behavior was still totally inappropriate for her job. Imagine if a guy used his job position to hunt down a customer he thought was cute and wanted to date. Rachel was a good sport about Ross dating Mona and even encouraged Mona to keep seeing Ross after Mona learned about the pregnancy. Once she was close to giving birth and saw Ross getting easily distracted by dating (plus he had enough trouble with finding time to both date Mona and experience the pregnancy firsts with Rachel), she started feeling neglected and extra vulnerable in her final trimester. I also think it was easier for Ross to give up dating for the time being because he genuinely enjoyed being there for Rachel during the pregnancy because he didn’t get that kind of experience with Carol & Susan before Ben was born and Rachel had been his first crush/love longer so he didn’t want to take it for granted. Communication was the key to their relationship working, Rachel admitting that she unreasonably wanted Ross all to herself during the rest of her pregnancy and Ross validating her feelings and reassuring her that as the one carrying the baby, she was entitled to feel that way.

Uh, except he is. He's got a doctorate in paleontology, which makes him a doctor. It's not your opinion of him or his field of study that decides if he's a doctor or not, it's the piece of paper he received for completing his studies in college that provided him with a doctorate that does.

It's a commonly run joke on Friends that they all make fun of and dismiss Ross' Doctorate as unimportant and trivial when it's actually a pretty big deal.
And I am perfectly calm, thank you, lol. I just don't like this running joke on Friends. It's meanspirited and unnecessary.

This show is one of perhaps hundreds that run the line about one with a doctorate not being a "real doctor". Not to mention the millions of everyday people that do it (like the Dr Jill Biden jokes). I don't like the joke either, though I appreciate that others do.
Oh, and _most_ of the humor on this show is meanspirited and unnecessary they could have called it "Frienemies" ... In one line Rachel showed lack of respect for both the stranger's intelligence, and the achievements of the father of her child. Clearly compensating for her own lack, and clearly responding to hormones. So it's all OK. (But wait, why was my wife never toxic or mean when pregnant? Oh ya, she _grew up._ )

I'm aware it's a TV show and not a real situation. I'm aware it's played off for laughs. Doesn't mean I can't have other opinions on it and mention them in comments. You know, what they're here for.
Rachel ALWAYS wanted and loved Ross (just as he her) but the issue was, she was spoiled, rich daddy's girl her whole life and she couldn't get over her pride and admit her own mistakes in the relationship with Ross (just as Ross couldn't get over his pride), plus she couldn't stand 'losing', at anything. That's why, even though Rachel has always loved Ross, she didn't go back to him sooner yet was crazy jealous like here.
They were both right and they were both wrong, this is why it took them so long to get back together and make it final (you could see both wanted to after Emma was born and honestly writers should have had them reunite then, sooner). They were also too passionate and emotional together, the characteristics that made them, on the one hand, perfect and hot, and insanely sexy together (only look at their kisses, the hottest, most passionate kisses on the show) but on the other hand, that made them also too hot-headed and stubborn. But this is exactly what 'passion' and passionate love is: the endless circle of hot and cold, extreme emotions. Ross&Rachel were imperfectly perfect as a couple and I love them!

I honestly believe him hurting her played a big role I to believe she loved him and he her. He went out that night and slept well copy girl because he was afraid of loosing Rachel so he did it first . As far as being spoiled they both where in my opinion look at how his parents treated him like he was perfect. Then we have Rachel where it was materials she was given.

Rachel's quirky little "flaws" made her only that much more damned *adorable*.
I don't really like how Rachel reacted but let's assume for a moment that she wasn't upset, she was already about to pop and Ross has proven through Mona that he couldn't balance dating and helping with Rachel so I wish he came into the decision on his own to put that on hold, just like Rachel did herself. Remember that Joey immediately gave up his lifestyle for Rachel and was there for her while Ross whined about wanting to be more involved, so if he's wanted in, it had to be 100%.

In Rachel's defense she was pregnant with Ross's child. She wanted him to be solely focused on her during the pregnancy, which I believe is a very logical thing to ask for. She was also jealous, sure, but it was fair that both of them would be as involved in the pregnancy and put their dating lives on hold. Moreover, I honestly don't understand why people keep on saying that Rachel ruined Ross's relationships, the only other occasion was the Emily thing, but nothing happened there, and it was Ross's fault that it didn't work out, not Rachel's.

I know this show is beloved - for some reason. I just never saw the appeal. And the absolute toxic nature of Ross and Rachel’s will-they-won’t-they over 10 years is astoundingly obvious, yet nobody ever calls it out. They both acted like 16 year olds the entire series, why should we care if they “end up together”? Despite moments of selflessness and even sacrifice, they’re both at core immature and selfish people.

Tbh I can somewhat understand Rachel's reaction here. They may not be together but he's still the father of the baby. When she's in a condition where she is not able to get into relationships due to their baby but Ross is able to, it would lead to jealousy (not that someone is hitting on Ross, but like "why am I in the condition that I can't be hit on" kind of jealousy)
