Mummy definitely has golden hands. Everything she does is with so much love and devotion. The proof is in her food. Pranesh you are so lucky to have mum cooking for you everyday. Can you maybe show us a grocery haul or what mummy buys to stock up your pantry for the winter months.
I shared this aunty‘s channel with my niece and I think her cooking is so authentic - reminds me of my late mother. Nothing fancy, just simple home made food. Watching from Australia.
I watched this video for learning purposes ❤and my heart melted when I saw you 😭you remind me so much of my late grandmother🤗 you've just gained a new subscriber 😊
Hello Aunty... I stand in awe of you. You are indeed a walking encyclopaedia of cuisine. And each recipe a masterpiece. I shall be buying brinjals tomorrow. Keep well.
Namaste Aunty ji, I’m such a huge fan of yours I wait for you to post videos, my moms blind so your cooking reminds me of hers which I miss so much, I wish to meet you someday when you down in Durban. Sending you warm hugs and love from home Durban. P.s I’m Le Crueset crazy so it’s just the perfect cherry on the top.
Hello ma. Hope you're well. Thank you for the recipe. When I braise what I call flavoured dhall, I use cinnamon sticks and bay leaves and add a little ground breyani mix to onions. I love this dhall. Take care.
We enjoy dhall so much. Love your recipes. Please can you do one for braised imly chillies. My aunt used to make this and it was enjoyed with any type of meal
Thanks again for an awesome recipe. I’ve never made dhal with brinjal but I’m definitely going to make it your style. I love pea dhal. I want to make green pea dhal. Do I prepare it in the same way as the yellow? I’ve just discovered pea dhal in the tin but I definitely prefer the one boiled by myself. Pranesh I’m sure you enjoyed the scrumptious meal that mom prepared. Love ❤️ from EL
We have not cooked the green pea dhal but I think it will be very similar. I don't think it will need to be boiled like we do with the yellow pea dhal, maybe just soaked and then cooked as the green dhal is softer. But we will also check for some recipes and come back to you.
Hello Sweet Mama! your Dhal cooking method is exactly as ours we also do many variations depending on season in Mauritius sometime taro leaves is added or moringa stick.Any traditional Indian meal is incomplete with that hot steaming ladle of dal. All dhals are one of the prime sources of protein for vegetarians heaped with the rich nutrient profile. It is super rich in protein, folate, zinc calcium and dietary fibre. Dhal is that quintessential home food that provides comfort to every person after a long tiring day.Enjoy!
You are so right. Yes we also add the moringa stick (drumstick) which makes it a bit sour. But it is very tasty. Dhal is very good for you and also delicious!
Roshnie Budhai hello aunt hope you and the family are well that dhall looks yummy can you please share a recipe for tamarind chutney take care lots of love ❤️
You have to wash the dhania thoroughly and then let the water dry. You can then separate the leaves from the stems or cut it, depending on how you prefer to use it. And then freeze in a air tight container or ziplock bag. But the most important thing is to make sure that all the water used to wash the dhania is dry
Nice with the fried sardines
Yes and some soft white bread!
😋 yummmmmmm! I’m making this tonight
Hope you enjoyed it!
Looks sooo delicious, that I can actually taste it
It’s another one of those iconic Durban tastes hey!

Nice wet day in Gauteng for this 🤤🤤🤤
Yes cold and overcast here, perfect for some nice dhal!
My late brother was a master at making this type of dhal. We used to get so annoyed because he used to use so much branjol. Wonderful memories.
How do I freeze dhania
You have to wash the dhania thoroughly and then let the water dry. You can then separate the leaves from the stems or cut it, depending on how you prefer to use it. And then freeze in a air tight container or ziplock bag. But the most important thing is to make sure that all the water used to wash the dhania is dry
Wow sister i have share same recipe on my channel but your recipe so much delicious 😍
I will check out your channel as well! Thanks for watching.
How many people will this serve
It will serve 8-10 depending on how much each person has. We serve this with biryani or other curries so it really depends on preference.
Thank you Aunty 😘
You are most welcome!
