That is an intriguing lens. This is actually a focal range that is missing from my prime lenses for the a6400. And that crazy fast aperture adds a lot of value. At the time of you posting this video, it is currently on sale in all colors for $319 in the US. I may have to grab one of these and try it out. Thank you for the outstanding review.
I would go for the 75mm Samyang, I bought it before I went full frame but it remains my favourite street photography lens combo with my a6400… It’s tiny and amazing on focal length…
Well, this one is 460g, the Viltrox is 670g, that’s significant despite softer images at 1.2, probably good enough for most shopping in the budget category
@@trym2121 I feel like it comes down to how much glass is in the actual thing. All my 5 and 6 element lenses are magical. Interesting that you have it on the A5100 as I had it on that for a while too to make a super light combo. Interestingly that combo weight works out as one of the highest scoring entrance pupil per kilogram I have ever seen (88:1), beating the Samyang 75/1.8 by a bit. For bokeh panos this lens is one of my favourites now and I have always advocated for full frame until now. I cannot believe the price of this thing!
Better go with the Viltrox 75mm f/1.2. Excelent sharpnes at f/1.2, no Color Fringing and very good resistant of Flaring. In all Way`s the better Choice. Greets from Germany.

Hi Chris, love your reviews, thanks for a great channel! I just wanted to ask a general question about testing autofocus lenses, do you carry out any micro adjustment of the lenses before doing the chart tests? Thanks.
Stormtrooper Glossy White is a bold color choice, but it suits the white Sony A5100. Doubt that it will stand the test of time, though. Elegant but ephemeral.
The $200 difference isn't a small amount of money, and even at RRP there's still a $150 difference. If they were the same price then the viltrox would be the obvious buy, but this lens costs 2/3rds what the viltrox does
@@maxhammick948 it is way, way better to save up a few more months to get the viltrox, which you can actually use and get good images at f1.2, it's 200$, although it is a lot of money, you can still save up, not like it's 2000$ more
Hello Christopher. This question is to get your opinion on an older Nikkor lens that is on my list for purchase. It is the Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF. Just wanted to see if you have had a chance to review this lens in the past and would like to know your opinion. Thank you in advance.
@@mannybalingit9767 I owned the lens more than 10 years ago. It was an excellent lens back then, but If I remember correctly the wide open long end was a little bit on the soft side. A comparison of Sirui 75 1.2 with Viltrox 75 1.2 would be helpful. The AF on the Viltrox isn't supposed to be that good for moving subjects. How does AF compare between Sirui / Viltrox. Especially when people/animals move towards the camera. A sharpness comparison at 1.8 or 2.0 would be enough for me
if you want sharpness at 1.8, just get the Yongnuo 85mm F1.8S - it ranks #2 for sharpness at DXO - and these guys are picky as f*ck... if you still want my oponion on these two (i own the Viltrox and tested the MF version of the Sirui and sent it back immediately) The Viltrox is sharper at 1.2 than the Sirui at f2 - at f2 the Viltrox is as sharp as your sensor can resolve - even the demanding X-H2 which i shoot on.

"a very reasonable price for a wide angle autofocus lens"? 😂 But I agree, it would be a good price for a telephoto lens if it's any good, but the Samyang 75 mm 1.8 is far better optically and better priced too.
I'm guessing he's testing cheap lenses on an old camera for a particular audience. The reviews are useless for an X-T5 or suchlike. However I don't think X-T5 owners are looking for cheaper lenses to go with a densely packed sensor.

This one has more 3d pop than flat viltrox. I'd get this one if you're into more artistic approach

A really nice lower cost option. It seems like if a longish portrait lens is your thing though it might be worth spending more on the Viltrox.
