making strips in foam by rolling the pencil with the elastic band or hot glue to hold the foam. It also works, I've seen it on other You tube channels. all works wonders for kids
Absolutely genius! Just tried out a few on my kid that has been doing the 5 finger grasp for a long time. The best that worked for him was the binder clip with a pom pom combined. You are such a great resource!
That makes me so happy! I'm glad this video was a resource for you and its helped your student with their grasp. Thanks for taking the time to leave such a kind comment :)
So exited to try these with my OT kiddos! I have one in particular that will his ring and pinky finger and drop the pompom so maybe one of these will work. (:
Hi would it be OK to combine strategies. For example, the hair bobbin to keep the pencil down and also another strategy to promote 3 finger grip. Thanks Aisling
Hello....thnx for such an awesome vedio...actually i m suffering from writers cramp nd as a result i cant write in my post graduation exam...my thumb moves involuntary forward while holding pen....any solution plz??
Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear that, that sounds miserable. What type of grasp do you have? Feel free to send me a picture of how you hold the pencil to my email at TheOTGuide@gmail.com and I'll give you my 2-cents!
Thanks for the guidance, Ms Dana. I have a query here. My child is comfortable with the hair tie method and I can see some improvements on his gripping but, he keep on removing the hair tie while doing his homeworks. Ms, is there any way for him to keep using the hair tie without removing it?
Hmmm. That's tricky! I think the ultimate goal is for our kiddos to write without the pencil grips so in some ways it's good he's motivated to write without it! I'd say, for the time being, reward him for using it and do your best to monitor him during writing/drawing to make sure he is using it. After a few weeks of using it consistently with you, see how his pencil grip looks without it :D
I'm so sorry to hear that Ava! If you'd like, you can take a picture of your grasp and email it to me at TheOTGuide@gmail.com and I can see if I have any specific pointers for you. -Dana
very good teaching method
They are all good, for the grip of the pencil, but I liked the one with the clip. Even if you are an adult, it works too. Wonderful project. thank you
Thank you so much!!!
@@TheOTGuide OK
@@TheOTGuideIt also works using foami, it looks great. It also works for children and adults, it gives more stability in the hands. Great
