- These are some signs to look for when farrowing is very near. Also some indicators that the sow will be a good momma.
As always, find out more at www.RaisingKuneKunes.com
first time viewer here; VERY well done demo video.
Looks like you helped this sow by cleaning her up a little after she farrowed.
She is certainly aware of her piglets and helps them reach the 'milk bar' by rolling
way over on her side.
The family looks happy and healthy.
Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it! And she's just an excellent momma...I was totally hands-off!
Wonderful video! And what a precious mama!!! Love me some Kunekunes!!! 😊
Thank you so much! And what's not to love, right?! 😄😄
Thank you for this great video. We hope to have some kunekune babies next spring 😁🐖
My pleasure...and best wishes with your kunekunes!
How do you prevent the piglets being squashed?
There are several precautions you can take, from using crush rails, and also pine straw instead of hay (or no bedding at all), and even selective breeding based on mothering skills like being careful around her piglets...but ultimately, you'll likely never be totally without the occasional occurrence of a crushed piglet. The most realistic goal would be to have minimal occurrence, especially the larger your herd, and more often youre having farrowings.
Thank you this helps alot. I have a sow that is due in a month and its her first time having piglets and ours so ive been nervous about keeping the piggys safe
Awww! So sweet! ❤️
I think so, too!
