- YEP.. Another NON bonus home rehab find when we start to dig below the surface! LITERALLY! Join us for today's home renovation update as we at least get to move a chess piece in the right direction. So we have big plans to rehab this entire Southern Missouri Ozarks property 25 year old home, but since we can't afford much of it, we are trying to do this piecemeal, just one rehab project at a time. And being in rural America, it is very challenging finding reliable people to do home rehab projects like this one. We have been searching for months, many phone calls and inquiries, very few returned calls, a couple of estimates that were sky high, and basically NO path forward at this point for the projects that we would like to undertake. So we decided to go big box store to at least get the ball moving. And honestly it worked out pretty well in this case. We did a Lowe's home renovation sliding door removal and installation and it was very timely and professional. Of course we had to remove all of the large rock boulders that they used for a makeshift patio so that the installer could access the old, rotted sliding doors for removal and install the new sliding doors. But all in all it went pretty good, although now we have created more work for ourselves, but we are kind of used to that in today's day and age of being busy, with limited time and energy, and limited construction people available to complete some of these jobs. Thanks for joining us today and be sure to stay tuned to the channel to follow along with all of our new Southern Missouri Ozarks Homestead updates, Sharon's DIY rustic home rehab and furniture projects, all of our land improvement projects, wildlife habitat improvement projects, building new roads, food plots, wildlife ponds, trail riding, hiking, exploring and so much more from our new 575 acre Southern Missouri Ozarks homestead. Thank you. #kapperoutdoors2 #kapperoutdoorsmissouri #homerehab #renovation #homereno #homerenovation #homerenovationideas #homerenovationproject #homerenovations
Good job on the patio doors looks like they did an excellent job of fitting 👌
Yes we were pretty happy with the install! One move off the list of probably hundreds, lol Thanks
I’ve done home remodeling for 35 years you need a little roof line over the door to prevent the weather from just beating on it all the time
Yeah for sure. Hopefully at some point we can at least get a deck over top of it to reduce just that.
keep on rockin it Kapper
One move at a time! But man, we have a LOT of moves on the list!!
Nice new sliding glass door. A concrete patio slab would be a good idea for sure.
yeah no doubt. If I think much past just today I'll get dizzy and overwhelmed! lol.
I like the mix of videos a little bit of everything really enjoy it thanks ! Garden Gnome approves!
Thanks Gnome!! Hope all is well! Good luck if you're hunting
Kap pour a nice 25 x 14 patio call it good , inexpensive. We have same set up and we use it often..deck can always come later
Yeah we are definitely going to consider that. Just a slab, should be a lot less than the deck!!
Enjoy your videos an attachment idea for you, check out the excavator cleanup bucket from kmk welding . The profile is excellent for sidewalk, patio and of course cleanup. The 30" is indispensable on my kx040. High quality American made, value priced
Good idea for sure. For now though I'm clamping down on any new equipment unless it will pay us back somehow. I'm just glad I've got the machines for stuff like this, because they got a patio sized area laid with them rocks. Thanks
If you have a way to dig post holes and you have a way to haul lumber I would do 50 percent myself... If you can build those blinds you can do the posts in and cement them in there... Then find someone who will trade his labor for a chance to get a deer from one of your blinds....Seems like a good barter trade.... Also the latest thing is people doing dry pours for slabs... There is a method where your get all the dry concrete leveled and spread out and you spray mist over the concrete just to barely get it wet, then you wait a certain amount of time and do it again and wait.. You continue to mist and wait and every time you goto spray you add just a little more volume of water ... by the next day you can pull the forms and have a slab
oh wow that sounds interesting on the dry pour! I know I can level out an area and make wood forms good enough. I do have an auger attachment for a mini but I need to get it fabricated to fit mine, its from a john deere. Hmmm that's got me thinking.. Good ideas! Thanks
Your listing of projects are LONG? Based upon your other house (all is well) they will get done in time!
Yes we have a very loooooong laundry list of 'wanted upgrades!!' But just one at a time! Thanks
I definitely would have hit that old glass, or buckled the frame, either way I would have had glass shards everywhere. Good job on the ex skills! Hoping your hunters fill their tags.
Cheers from Taney county!
Well I'm sure glad I did not! lol The new door was still on order when I did this!! Thanks for the shout out, take care!!
🤟🤟
Looks like a classic case of getting the grade height too high.
That price for a deck seems a bit bonkers to me, lumber must be riding high again after the storm season.
Yeah too bad we have to do this one, had it been right from the start them doors would still have been good. But oh well we'll tackle them one small bit at a time. Thanks, long time no hear!
I know that is PVC but looking at the stuff inside of it, it almost looks like an ash clean out for the fireplace. Crazy.
Yep that's exactly what I thought!! But a failed one.. First you could start a fire with hot ash by using it, and looks like it has an elbow to boot.. Wow..
Could be an air vent for the fire place.
Might be outdoor access for chimney sweep.
It looks like the backyard could use a little grading work...
yeah but I have to clean all them home made rock patio stones out first! At least its pitched enough that there is no standing water in the back though.
Well the ole mini-x bucket has gotten down to 2 Dracula teeth. I know you are busier than a cat trying to use a community litter box, but take a moment and do some repair and maintenance on your equipment. Yeah, I know I'm OCD about that kind of stuff....lol
lol yep, but they worked good in this case as rock pickers!
Try to barter , with deer hunts for projects
Good idea, although I have found it hard for guys to give up the value that we bring to deer hunts for giving up cash. But I will keep looking!
