I’m from Hanapepe and fished Port Allen boat harbor all my life. Only thing you’ll catch inside the harbor are sting ray. Not worth your time. Hammerhead shark bite best right at sunset at the corner where you park your car. Where you were fishing ok for papio and occasional oio. Good luck.
For your spinning reel dunking I’d recommend and size from 5000-8000 maybe 4000 as well as for conventionals I use torium 30s but there’s other options like a Daiwa segate or saltists and Penn fathom 30. You can even throw a jig master as well.
@@justfishhawaii923 Thanks for the comment. Interesting. I’ll look into those. I have an older Daiwa Sealine 50 which seems to be doing fine but lacking in the cast-ability. I am actually fishing for Sturgeon from the bank in Oregon. There are a lot of similarities between the two kinds of fishing. Iv been to Hawaii/Kauai and seen guys dunk out there and I even caught some Ulua and or Papio. Y’all have some of the best fishing in the world. Keep up the good work man.
The school is moving because you’re snagging the fish 😢 try using a 1 to 2 pound line for your main and a small hook and a small egg shaped lead with a little piece of rubber strip 😊
Just a heads up, I know guys do it but if DLNR catches u snagging fish u will get a fine and possibly have ur rig taken , it is illegal to snag fish in Hawaii , figure I lyk. Wouldn’t recommend u videoing it either .
Nice catch dude.
