24:10 This, for the lack of the better word, effs up the entire essence of the Doom-driven heroes who were sent in Nirn for different purposes. Divine or Daedric in origin, every hero in the series impacts the game and the future in some ways. Saying that they all come from Ithelia is a huge spit in the face of the 30 years of carefully crafted lore of The Elder Scrolls.
I can see what you mean, but I genuinely don't think that's true. I believe the Magna Ge and Ithelia concepts have been in play behind the scenes for at least 12 years. The first mention of the Magna Ge, and reference to the book the Nine Coruscations and Memno-Li, was in a book called "The Exegesis of Merid-Nunda" found in Coldharbour in the base game. The concept of the Prisoner as the destroyer of the Towers has been around longer than that. I really think this has been the plan for a long, long time. Whether or not you feel it works is a different matter, but ZOS doesn't have the ability to "go rogue" on something this big; it had to be planned w/Bethesda.
"And what about Meridia?" I find it pretty funny that most of Tamriel sees her as "good" when she literally enslaves her supplicants... 😅 As for Ithelia... I for one welcome our Daedric -Overlord- Prince of Paths. 🎉FREE WILL BABY!!! 🎉
Yeah, Meridia's ruthless, but she seems to consistently be on the side of protecting Nirn. My impression is that she's a general w/a war to win and uses her tools/pawns/mortals as she needs to. It's hard to assign good & bad to daedra. I'm working on part 2 of the Ithelia lore series now, and... her version of free will is highly problematic, unfortunately. Yet she also doesn't seem to relish destruction, either. No easy answers.
Awesome video. Love these lore related showcases as they hit close to one of the reasons why I love this game; just so much to it. Very excited for the new chapter and quest lines as it will no doubt; take me even deeper into the lore surrounding this game. Much thanks for your work on this. Looking forward to many more videos. :)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes - Elder Scrolls lore is amazing, and I'm super excited for the new stories. The planning behind the Ithelia reveal is stunning ... and I must stop there, lol.
Good point. "Good and evil" then, are a matter of perspective - are the mortals harmed by the Prince's action or not? It always comes back to perspective w/Elder Scrolls lore.
Great video! You are an amazing storyteller. Please keep up the lore videos. I drive for a living and listening to these helps get me through my workday. Well done!
If you listen while driving, it took you extra effort to put in this comment, and thank you for that! Also, being called an "amazing storyteller" is the highlight of my week - which has been awesome so far - so thanks for that, too! Your wish is in progress of being fulfilled, as I'm working on the next lore video this week. Thanks for listening!
There's a lot of Gnosticism in TES lore, but that particular philosophy isn't my strong suit. I missed the Ithelia/Sophia comparison, and it's fabulous. Thank you! I'll have to read up on Sophia... in between getting the next video out. :)
I loved this! Very surprising that you could find some tidbits in older zones and games. Your in depth research gave me Drewmora vibes - so very excited for the next installment. Personally, I’m on the fence about the addition of Ithelia - she feels very OP? Or maybe I’m just desensitized to the other Princes because I’ve interacted with them for years 😂
Thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed it! "Tidbits" is in the channel name b/c how I feel the lore is built - a bit here, a bit there, put them all together and it's extraordinary storytelling. So I like to gather those bits and put them together for folks. I see what you're saying about Ithelia, but given the amount of time they've been working on this (she was actually seeded years ago, but I can't say more right now), I do have faith in the story overall. *crosses fingers* We'll see!
Great video, Zells! Really looking forward to hearing more of your thoughts on Ithelia. I can't wait to (hopefully) hear your take on the Boethra book. I, as a very novice Lore Hound, may have interpreted some things differently because I'm not completely solid on Creation Lore (just being honest, haha). Keep em coming! For the Lore!
Thanks, Katie! Great to hear from you! Man, those Boethra books... tbh, woulda had this vid up way earlier, but first I had to spend a few weeks staring at those pages and wondering how many steps I could take before I was COMPLETELY over my head, lol. Is, like, *anyone* "solid" on creation lore? If you know that person - please send them my way. :D For the lore!
Wow, interesting. Had to stop and think about that for a day. As I understand it, the Compact prevents the Princes from appearing on Nirn, but not from affecting it. Cultists of all stripes run around doing their masters' bidding, and that's w/in bounds... so probably not against the actual terms, but definitely violates the, uh, "spirit" of the agreement. Thanks for that comment!
@@jonathannewsted4035 Not a lot, but I do have an audio preset I drop on the tracks. It filters out background noise and keeps the track from sounding tinny, compensates for the cheap mic. I don't know much about audio settings, but I fiddled around building the preset profile to make sure it still sounds like me. I probably should also mention I have some vocal training and am consciously putting effort into making it a good listening experience. I often do multiple takes, usually w/different inflections to see what works best.
Hi, everyone! If you liked this one, I'm happy to say part 2 is up!

@@Tamriel_Tidbits Yeah, but the ambiguity _is_ a big part of what makes Daedra so interesting. 😁

Daedra don't really fall under the mortal perception of good or evil, they simply are.

Shes a Magna ge in line with Magnus and meridia so more in Favour of the Mortals
I don't know any of this and honestly its fascinating
It really is - so much involved. Dense and super intriguing... I'm nowhere near done unpacking it all, lol.

You are my new favorite TES lore youtuber! Great work! Keep it up!
Thank you! Welcome to the channel, and thanks for watching! I'm working on the next installment in this series now. :)
They've adapted Sophia and the Demiurge for ESO as Ithelia and Mora.

Wouldn't forcing everyone to forget Ithelia be actually against the coldharbor compact?
Wow, interesting. Had to stop and think about that for a day.

Thanks for that comment!
Not against a Prince that was never bound by that contract, even so, Mora doesn't need to invade Nirn to mess with mortal memories
What mic do you use?
It's an Audio-Technica ATR2100x; pretty cheap mic.
@@Tamriel_Tidbits your audio sounds good 👍 do you edit it a lot in post or is that just you're mic?
