- Priscilla Presley issued her first public statement since the tragic death of her grandson Benjamin Keough on July 12. “These are some of the darkest days of my family’s life. The shock of losing Ben has been devastating,” the 75-year-old wrote in part. “Trying to put all the pieces together of all the possible whys has penetrated my soul. Each day I wake up I pray it will get better. Then, I think of my daughter and the pain she is going through as she was a doting mother.” Benjamin was the only grandson of Rock ‘N Roll legend Elvis Presley.

@Judy DeBonis I'm sorry about your mom. I feel she was blessed to have a daughter like you who stuck to her side and cared for her till the end. And you were also blessed to have a mother like her. By reading your post I can tell that you loved her very much and you being there, I'm sure it was everything to her. I don't know your mom but I can only imagine that she was a wonderful mom. The reason I'm saying this is because I can relate. I took care of my dad, too, until the day he passed. I never got a chance to say goodbye, though, he was only 54. The night that he passed I dreamt of my dad, he gave me a very tight hug and wouldn't let go and then I woke up in tears. I believe that was his way of saying goodbye to me in my dream. I'll never forget it.
I don't have any children, yet, so I wouldn't know what it's like to lose a child and I can't even begin to imagine the pain of what Lisa Marie is going through and Anna went through. My heart goes out to Lisa Marie and her family and rip Anna. 😇😇😇⚘⚘⚘

Good point, and really, honestly, I think everyone has some level of depression now and then. But long-term, crippling, clinical depression, in some cases, can be related to chemical imbalances in the brain that benefit from some of today's prescriptions. Paxil has been a literal godsend for several family members, so it's wonderful the advances in medicine that can correct some of these problems. It's important to recognize that many of these conditions are PHYSICAL and correctible and we shouldn't be ashamed of needing these prescriptions any more than having to take meds for diabetes or other physical problems.

My Grandmother killed her self when I was only 22. I am 37 years old now and the pain is still unreal! When a loved one or close friend commits suicide... It is one of the most painful mornings you will ever go through. Going through the 5 stage of the grieving process are so hard. There is no one that you can be angry at. You can not just take Suicide to court and tell a judge it Murdered someone you love. There is no "WHY"! You can not just say... "Ok. This is why they did it." You always find other reasons that MIGHT be another WHY! And the guilt that friends and family carey in there hearts will pop out of no where years and years later and you wonder... Did I miss something? Did I say Something? I was the last one to see my grandmother a live.

Mimi. Absolutely! You never get closure. The pain is always there. You just learn to live with it as best you can. This applies not only to the horror of murders, suicides and car accidents, it also applies when your loved ones die of old age. We never get closure on death. The human mind is just not hard-wired to deal with that. It`s like trying to understand the concept of infinity in outer space. We just can`t grasp it!

Wouldn’t make it any easier if he wasn’t an only son. The pain would be the same. And prisella said she wakes with her pain then it goes right to the pain her child is feeling and the other children horribly pain in so many ways. Lost my son first week of June. The pain is still the same even with counseling. Some of you do know what there going through 😞 I did a tribute video to my son on UA-cam. Felt a little relief but it comes back with a vengeance. Grief a horrible sickness there is no medicine for. Prayers for all of them 😢

I understand, I lost 2 of my grandsons in 2002 on Nov 4th 2002 from a house fire. I was raising my grandsons, they were sharing a room together....... My oldest grandson was 18 . the other grandson was 7 .Then this overwhelmed my husband from all this that happen , he died in 2003 at 52...from a stroke... The doctor said he really died of a broken heart...in 2017 my only daughter died from a over-dose ..I often wonder WHY. so much has happened to my family... It has devastated my life I journal write , I go to meetings where other people have lost their family members .. I will never get over this lost of my family....NEVER

There is a merciful God who loves Lisa more than anyone could love her and Who will comfort her as only He can as well as the rest of the family. All she (and the family) has to do is reach out to Him and He will give her and her family a peace that passes understanding as he did my daughter after a time of deep grief and mourning when she lost her firstborn son 11 years ago at age 18. God is still holding my daughter up with that peace. For Christians this parting is just temporary; that's the Good News!

I never expected Ben to be Elvis reincarnated but I sure had my Hope's that he would be another Presley singer of his choice. I would have loved to see him grow into his own person. Yes they call it club 27 it is frightening. Some of them have died in very strange ways. I feel so sorry for Benjamin Keough, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and all of them. It is so very tragic and frightening. Have you done much research into this? God bless.
It's not just a celebrity phenomenon. Ages approximately 24-28 is the final stage of frontal lobe development for the brain. At the close of that phase, people with depression issues have a higher death than those who do not.
M Taylor not just celebrities: I lost my beautiful son “Johnny”, John Andrew Karamargin in a horrific house fire that he started 6/18/2016 when his mental illness, persecutory delusions took over & he thought the CIA was coming to get him. Johnny was 26 years & 5 months old. No drugs or etoh, ever. It was a very sad day. We lost 4 of our Yorkies/Yorkie-mixes, too, to smoke inhalation. My Johnny burned to death & he was considered a “John Doe” until our family dentist confirmed that it was him. The entire dental office were the 1st ones @ his memorial service. We are still coping & sorting through remnants of the remains. It’s a long story & the pain never goes away, we just cope with it & work through our pain. Not easy, ever. May he rest in piece & May his memory be eternal. Love & compassion to the family. Mental illness crosses no socioeconomic lines. I know as I have been a psychiatric RN for over 24 years. I tried numerous times to get my Johnny help & he talked his way out of it, presented clear & promising to the doctors & judges. Love, courage & strength to manage the intense pain & grief to Lisa Marie & her girls. Priscilla has been through so much, too, and has shown the world her strength & gratitude to uphold her position as the mother, grandmother & the one & only wife of Elvis Presley.
I was thinking about that as well when I heard how old he was. There’s got to be something going on when so many pass at that age

Nora, i would guess drink and drugs, but mainly no sense of scale. He suffered from depression and no sense of self-worth. He was stuck in that vicious circle of self-loathing. For an outsider he clearly had it all. He could have done anything he wanted and all the doors would have been open - i am thinking in music and/ or acting, but it could have been anything. He couldn`t get out of his depression rut, just like Steve Bing. 2 billion people live on less than 2 dollars a day. So many are on the breadline, so many homeless, so many in abject poverty who would give anything for just 3 meals a day and a warm bed. But when depression swallows you up you lose all sense of wise perspective.

Yes that's very sad that he committed suicide I feel really bad for his family and his siblings😓😫😇🙏🙏💔
They are in my prayers, it is awful losing a loved one, and it is devastating more, at finding a family member or friend to suicide. The family or loved one's are left behind of the grief and questions, that will never get fully answered. I lost my Dad, to suicide at 3 years old. Me and my mother found him, by hanging himself. He was 21 years old. I've lived my life with so many un answered questions, that only he could answer. It is a never ending hurt that never goes away and plus the grieving of not having them. Praying for Lisa Marie and whole family 🙏💔
I am sorry that he felt he had to live up to his grandfather's legacy. He didn't get a chance to really just be Ben. Suicide is always sad. May he rest in peace.
Poor Ben, I would have hopped he didn't try to hold onto media's pressure of being Elvis's son.
He wasn't Elvis son. He was his grandson.

it is so tragic a persons world can be so dark and lonely on the outside there loved there brave but on the inside dieing his poor family i hope through this pain they can remember all the good moments the times that weren’t so broken
Losing a son or daughter is beyond horrible. Living every day without them is even worse. His mother’s heart is broken forever. You can’t even imagine.

Why would they be mad at Elvis?
Because I'm afraid that they might see Elvis's fame as cause of Ben,s death. I hope they don't. Ben may have other issues too, I don't think depression is just based on just one thing. I have it, but am stable and being treated. I'm sure it's hard living under the spot light, and depression added to it does not help. I hope Elvis legacy continues to live on. He is an unusual musical phenomenon, a rare force of. nature in entertaiment industry, and a kind, wonderful, generous, spiritual man. But I will understand families decision, Lisa and pricilla,s. Elvis is naturally locked in our hearts anyway.

Thank you, I like to think that maybe they are comforted by Ben being with his grandfather and families up above, we all know how spiritual Elvis was. And Jesus giving Ben a warm em brace,,no more pain Ben,,.
Lisa came from one of the most famous people in this century, and I believe she was a good mom and wanted to protect her children from that craziness of celebrity fame. Sure she got caught up in it for a few moments, heck, she was the child of one of the most famous men in this era..... regardless of what I believe, most of us here appreciate her because she was as humble as our own parents, our grandparents, and the like, even though most of us lived without thelife of fame, fortune, etc. our grandmothers was not a victim of self image, nor plastic surgery, no self indulgence like this young mans, but many of our parents, grandparents were simple women who enjoyed baking, cooking and taking care of us rugrats without the glitter of fame ..... Lisa, you are loved by millions because you did your best to stay real in this crazy world of celebs which you were brought up in.......and your son was also the product of this craziness, by the media, not by you. We are Sorry for your loss, and ...be strong for your girls

My Happy Nest imagine being compared to your famous, iconic grandfather your whole life, the expectations of you maybe being the next Elvis. Lisa struggled too, not feeling good enough. She was also compared to Elvis, especially when she published her first album.

We were so sad to hear of Ben's tragic death. We have lost 2 sons both in different ways however it is such a devastating difficult time to try to get through. We are sending our love, thoughts, prayers and sympathy to Lisa, Danny, each one of his siblings, Priscilla, family and friends. xoxo
