- As we get closer to a decision about if Universal Studios UK is going to be made or not, I take a look at the what areas will be in Universal Studios GB!

There is no Universal Studios without Jurassic.

I think universal should put in an area for nostalgia, build back to the future, kongfrontation, earthquake, ET, they're all dark rides, bring back ghost busters, it would work, there's huge market for nostalgia and people crave for the old rides, I'd adore a back to the future ride here in the UK. They have the technology to do these rides justice, they're weather friendly and would please everyone
Universal made it clear they dont want the Orlando rides and themes in the UK.
That leaves us with the Lord of the Rings, James Bond, Paddington for example..
Of course Horror Nights would be an exception, just differently themed.

Lord of the Rings Land with Mordor as the focal point. And maybe it’s own Portal like Epic Universe for that mysterious adventure factor. Can’t see the land till you walk through the portal into Middle Earth.
They probably don’t know yet😅 And things can change last minute as we have seen with Universal Studios Beijing

i do hope the british stuff is balanced out with american stuff too. as much as i think the hollywood spectatcle wouldnt draw people in now, we of course have a lot of beloved characters/worlds from the US
If they want to be really unique, the Bond coaster should be a dueling coaster. One side Bond, the other side villains. They can incorporate the controlled spinning that is being utilized for Hollywood Drift for show scenes with fire/explosion effects, etc. if they really wanted to go all out on it.
I have a strong feeling that the very good Jurassic World dark ride from Beijing. 1) it’s new already, 2) new experience for the west
New Back 2 the Future ride, Doc lands in the uk and you travel with him seeing crazy British history.
We need to remember when looking at rides at other parks already this park won't open for another 6 or 7 years. Forbidden journey for example opened in 2010 in Orlando. You wouldn't want a copy of a 20 year old ride and a lot of their audience would already been there. Even mario would be open for 5 or 6 years. Wouldn't rule out the IP but in a different ride format
Interesting video but don't agree with many of your predictions. Universal made a point of saying when the project was first announced that there would be no cloned rides from Orlando as a way of not cannibalising UK tourism to the Orlando resort

If we don’t get a Jurassic World area I will riot. The series is still massive, and the new one is coming next year. What has Harry Potter done recently to deserve an area? Nothing but a fading legacy. We have to get a JW ride.

There was talk a while back about Universal holding the rights to Lord Of The Rings so I could 100% see them using that and having a full "Shire" area complete with Prancing Pony pub and a couple of rides!
They will go big on Harry Potter for sure, like you said it’s the most fitting country ! They will make it the best yet regarding potter in my opinion they pull people over from all over.

I'd like to see a Roald Dahl themed land with a Matilda dark ride or show, Willy Wonka restaurant, Georges marvellous medicine water ride and Big friendly giant RMC coaster. Harry Potter could be a ministry of magic area which would make sense what with the British weather being what it is.

I personally would love to see Seuss come to the UK but totally agree it's not so much on the UK radar. I just love that 'chewing gum' theming and general quirky silliness and for me it's probably my favorite part of IOA. I've spent far too much time down by the waterside of Seuss Landing looking at the Sneechs. I just hope they don't attempt any kind of 'Main Street UK' with hokey London/ UK landmarks. I do like the entrance to IOA however though I suppose that's not the looks they'd go for. All that said, I am so excited about this possibly coming to the UK to shake up the mediocre industry we currently have. So excited in fact I may cough up a sneech!
jurrasic world was made in the uk and their is a new film in the works , video game and a follow up to the popular camp cretatious . get your point about the weather , but there again alot of the scenes are in the dark and indoors . anoter fun fact was that for the 2nd world film , they built an actual gyrosphere version of Oblivion on the roof of the sound stage , and pushed the actors of it with a green screen attached to the back .
In terms of overall design, I’d guess that the potential GB park would be most similar to the Beijing park, with a few big indoor lands augmenting the more typical outdoor stuff found elsewhere. I would also be very surprised if clone of the Jurassic World dark ride wasn’t included, as that’s clearly one of the very best Universal attractions, yet not yet present in the west. When it comes to IPs, Universal have shown, with Waterworld, that they’re prepared to go with something that isn’t popular, if it ultimately produces a great attraction. If a ride or show is of a sufficiently high standard, people are going to seek it out, regardless.

Your commentary is all wrong. I can tell you this because I live in Orlando and have inside information on what is being planned for the UK. No I wont even hint at what is in the planning stages but I will say this. It is totally original and if plans move forward will blow peoples minds. There may be some formal word on more details by the end of this year but I dont expect we'll hear anything else before then, the primary reason is there are contract negotiations in progress, so nothing can be said at this time.

Not to be that guy, but there's a How to Train Your Dragon film being filmed in Northern Ireland that's meant to be released next year. Also, nearly everyone I talk to absolutely loves how to train your dragon so I think it is fairly popular, obviously depends on quite a few factors
And, the Jurassic franchise is still pushing a lot of content out, they've just launched a new series, making a new game, a new game is releasing very soon, they are planning on making a new film I believe and a few other projects too
Singapore found an answer by putting the entire Jurassic world area under a dome aka under cover. I know Beijing did the exact same thing as most of it is under some sort of cover. It serves as a sort of getaway to another world as the doors are themed. It could work.

I know what people are saying about the Harry Potter rights, but I just don’t think they could get away with not doing Harry Potter. It’s just too big here, just going around central London and Harry Potter is everywhere. Universals got the money to make it happen, and Warner bros seems desperate enough to take that deal. Even if it’s not an opening day attraction, it’ll come one day.

I see Universal being slightly more creative than the copy and pasted model. I think we're in for something new and boundary pushing Ala Epic Universe. That being said I can see the Beijing Jurassic dark ride coming
Even Epic Universe has the Nintendo World copied from Hollywood and Osaka. I'm expecting a couple of unique rides and a few copied ones.
How to train your dragon is British, It would fit perfectly in the UK. I would think Universal will use alot of British IP to attract the foreign tourist.
You mention the Japanese studio tour as a reason for Potter to come to the UK. The main difference is that it takes 3/4+ hours to travel between the studio tour and the park so there isn’t much competition between the two, meanwhile it’s only 40 minutes between the two in the UK so the park could definitely eat into the guest numbers. Not to mention that WB has an exclusivity deal for the Potter license in the UK that doesn’t expire until 30 years after the opening of the studio tour.
I'm not sure that's much of a factor, most foreign tourists to Japan will fly in and out of Tokyo so will be near the studio tour for part of their trip anyway. Plus they're both complimentary.
If you're a Harry Potter fan you're more likely to travel to the UK if they have both the studio tour and wizarding world, especially if they're only 40 minutes away.
Like how we're more likely to go to Florida because there's both Disney and Universal, when there's just one attraction ( like Disney Hong Kong) it seems harder to justify

Jurassic would be nailed on. You are only thinking of the films. But the Camp Cretaceous and now Chaos Theory have both been massive hits for kids on Netflix, so I can see a Dark ride or 2 in an enclosed area. As much as I like the Shaun of the dead and hot fuzz films. These are very niche and I cannot see this ever coming to the UK. I could see a DreamWorks area possibly instead of minions. I would love to see a retro area with new versions of Jaws, Back to the future, earthquake, maybe Twister (with a new film coming out) and Ghostbusters now universal have the rights to it.
Newest park will most likely be based on Universal Beijing, since that is the newest park format they have developed under Universal branding (not IOA, Epic, etc) and bear in mind, weather. China has very temperamental weather during winter months, making it the park most similar to the UK.
While it will not be a clone of other parks, it will still contain most signature staples found across Universal parks globally with a focus on their newer IPs developed (Jurassic World, Wizarding World, Nintendo, Minions) with at least one brand new IP zone and likely indoors, again similar to what has been developed for Beijing (Kung Fu Panda) that will cater to local tastes. People have mentioned James Bond or Lord of the Rings, which I agree are the type of blockbuster IPs that will definitely differentiate the UK park to its others. But the UK-exclusive IPs are anyone's guess at this point.
There will be more focus on family-friendly attractions and indoor zones, because of the British weather and wider family audience. My opinion is that they will likely include How to Train Your Dragon, since this is an entirely new family-friendly zone, and can potentially be developed indoors similar to Beijing's Kung Fu Panda indoor zone, both of which were heavily inspired by Motiongate Dubai's indoor HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda lands.
I found myself looking up Banjo Kazooie the other day and never knew that it’s a British franchise.. I would love to see that as the next Nintendo World expansion! Plus Gruntilda’s Lair is castle-esque
I think you underestimate how popular some of these things are. A lot of young teens grew up watching How to train your Dragon. Personally I'm hoping they do a LOTR area
Definitely, it's weird seeing which themes do well in other parks, like I'm surprised how much Minions has taken off around the world
I still think that none of the major elements in Orlando would be replicated - doesn't make sense for them to cannibalise their own business, as Universal know how many UK guests visit those parks. I think they will have their cake and eat it too - I think the recent Beijing park is closer to what we'll be looking at, with some UK centric properties being brought into the fold.
Would love to see a Cornetto trilogy themed area, it would be a great fit and quite unique.

How it usually works is that the company in this case universal pays to use the name and rights to use it at the parks. It’s the same thing with six flags and the DC comics rides. It’s called a name licensing lease. It’s good for 1 year then the two parties check if they want to renew. Very common.

Great video, I'm not a Harry Potter fan at all so don't really wanna see more HP considering it's such a large focus in orlando but from a business pov, it would make sense in the uk park to have a HP or fantastic beasts area/ride so, I'm also not a fan of the minions but could see that being there as the kids zone. Nintendo world would be cool esp after seeing how the other ones look.
Personally, I think it would be amazing to have a Tolkien world, so a lord of the rings land, maybe designed to look like the shire, with a mordor dark ride or something, or through caves following gollum with shelob the spider animatronics, and with the pub the hobbits drink in as a restaurant experience. could also expand to having the hobbit included. I think a a,Tolkien theme would be a,great substitute for HP over here.
I also think, like the bourne show...how about a James Bond stunt show?? that would be very British and could do it like the bourne/indy live show with actors and cars etc. would be very cool I think.

I have ready though that Universal supposedly don't want to use existing property's in other parks so that would immediately cross off Nintendo, minions, HP etc...and also read that the studio tour that was built have something in a contract stating that no other HP attraction can be built within so many miles of it so I have ni idea if there is any truth to,that or not but its,fun speculating...

Nintendo land - absolutely. Probably with some unique stuff too, so much IP they’ve not tried yet - Pikmin, Pokemon, Animal Crossing, Metroid, F-Zero, Splatoon etc.

Jurassic World - Absolutely will have a section (A 4th film directed by Gareth Edwards-Rogue One is fast tracked 2025)

Marvel / Simpsons are no go, as you say - Disney licensing - USA east of Mississippi only. Disney would love to end that deal but Universal will make them pay heavily.
Harry Potter - Has JKR/Warners signed off on the UK licence? If ‘Fantastic Beasts’ had dominated I think it would be certain, but to just do a clone of anything in Florida feels weak (most Brits have already been there). I do wonder if there is an appetite for it now.
Universal Monsters - I’d love it, but without a modern ‘break out’ film to hang it’s hat on I think it will struggle (Epic Universe seems like a Bizarre roll of the dice) More likely 'An American Werewolf' which could tie into 'Shaun of the dead'

I just have a feeling they will stick to their own IPs. Jurassic, Minions, Dreamworks etc. if they’re feeling a little saucy they may even bring Back to the Future - which would be my perfect franchise. Or at least a classic. Maybe Jaws. Potter and Nintendo I predict won’t be there.
I dont think Hogsmead will make it into the UK park. Unversal has said that they dont want to build the same experience between USO and USUK. They dont want to cannabilize their tourism. So theyll likely do something else entirely. Not paris, as thsts already being made in Epic Universe. What i suspect is that it will be New York from Fantastic Beasts, like how Epic Universe is getting Paris from Crimes of Grindelwald.
I don't know I think it could be risky to not include it since like at least half the UK population love harry Potter and something like a Hogwarts great hall carvery would probably do gang busters here and would make a interesting restaurant experience
@liamcollinson5695 Universal already confirmed that none of the experiences from Florida will make it to the UK park. There is just too much tourism from the UK to florida to risk cannibalization. The good thing is that you guys will be getting an entirely original land. I think a New York setting from Fantastic Beasts would be a great addition to the park. The US parks would have a UK themed experience, and the UK would have an American themed experience. While my idea is speculation, I am incredibly skeptical that the UK park will see Hogsmead.
I love how to train your dragon and would love to see it in the UK since it is a British book series, for the jurassic park ride they could make a dome like the Eden project and a have a rollercoaster based on a pterosaur flying around the dome with other attractions within it recreating other domes from jurassic park 3 (zipline maybe) and jurassic world. There have also been people saying they have rights to lord of the rings for rides though hopefully they make hobbet holes in the nature section for glamping.
I just want to remind you that universal has tested jurrassic park theming in the U.K. in 2022 with the indoor experience. It performed well.
Also how to train your dragon is mad popular dude. Toothless is universal’s baymax. However, the soil in the U.K. isn’t great so I can see them skipping out on this because of the soil and weather
I’m going against what people are saying with WB and IP rights to attractions in the UK. I think Universal will have an agreement with WB, the tourism would help both. So I think we will get HP.
You might be surprised to hear you could easily recreate the Jurassic World area in the UK. Because it’s easy to create fake foliage/palm trees these days. A shopping centre near me has giant fake palm trees that look real.

There are new live action 'how to train your dragon' movies coming soon - probably in the next 2 to 3 years. The same for Jurassic world, there is a few new stuff in the works for the Jurassic franchise.
Personally I can totally see them doing something with Planet of the Apes, Lord of the Rings, Hogwarts, How to train your Dragon, - Maybe James Bond - Pretty much anything that is UK based or made in the UK

Maybe they will go with something completely different like a Minecraft world or a Fortnite themed ride as gaming is a money maker. My teenagers would love a Minecraft ride.

Since we have the Jurassic Coast I feel like it would be a missed opportunity to not have a unique Jurassic Park water ride and I would give them ultra special brownie points if they could get David Attenborough to be the narrator

A King Kong Dueling Roller Coaster For Universal Great Britain Would sound great for this park.
They were going to have the King Kong Coaster when they proposed for Universal Dubai in 2008 but unfortunately it was canceled.

I am certain there will be a lord of the rings area in UK. Alongside this I won't be surprised if we get a James Bond ride, and Paddigton Bear dark ride. Both are very popular and very british. Totally disagree about shaun of the dead, would be a massive risk. Outside chance of either a ghost buster or back to the future ride
My wildcard choice is fallout new vegas since it has all the ingredients of a great land from iconic locations to food drink and creatures ect a e ticket vault tec dark ride through a vault would be amazing and my dream
I wonder if anyone owns the theme park rights to Fallout? Universal just announced a horror maze for this year that is all about a radioactive post nuclear wasteland and weirdly they haven't used Fallout for it
From whats rumored from trusted insiders, UGB will not have a Wizarding World land nor a Super Nintendo land. Instead it will have Jurassic World (not park) and it's own unique Lord of The Rings land, in addition to Minions and some type of attractions based on Paddington and James Bond.

Yeah, no. Said trusted insiders are the ones who broke the news on Universal purchasing land and intending to build a park in Bedford, forcing the company and government to come out and announce it. There's internal concept art and several proposal plans for the park going around in private discord and telegram groups with all versions lacking a Wizarding World and containing Jurassic World. We won't wait long before they finalize their plans and announce them. Probably in two years if I had to guess.

They said the park won't be a copy of the Orlando parks, that doesn't mean it won't have some of the same rides/areas.
None of the current Universal parks are copies of each other, but they all share a bunch of the same or similar rides.
Replace Bourne with Bond
From what I've read Warner Brothers owns the rights to Harry Potter Attractions in the UK so there won't be any Universal HP. Look at Marvel in Florida even though Disney own it they can put any IP in Florida as Universal own the Attraction rights to it.
So we have a new Jurassic film next year with some of it being filmed in the UK. A copy of the Beijing ride is very likely IMO.

Yeah exactly, all the official information is up on their site, it's very clear. Anything else is just speculation
It won't have anything Harry potter. A big part of Orlando parks attendance is Europeans going for Potter lands. If built it in UK those people won't also go to Florida. The 2 main massive lands will be lord of rings and pokemon, backed up with Jurassic park which will be in dome/themed as visitor centre, Nintendo land, a land based on illumination and DreamWorks IP with a number of dark rides such as secret life of pets and minions and section based on British IPs i.e Bond show similar to bourne spectacular and Shawn of dead dark ride. Universal said will be open all year round unlike other British theme parks, so a lot of the attractions will be inside.

Apparently a train route will go right through the park, and there is a station, so unsure how that is going to work hmm
There's two train lines that go through the resort area, but they won't go through the park. They've shown that clearly already on the maps, I did another video all about the maps!
I can’t lie, I would love if they remade duelling dragons, because I’m sooo pissed that I missed out on it cus I was too small when I went and the next time I went they were building Hagrids and I’m so sad 😢 however let’s be real that ain’t happening. Would love an intamin blitz but I think it probably won’t. Either way, I am happy that imma have a universal park 2 hours from home :)
I would LOVE A JP/JW land themed to a British research area/park/centre or something.
I hope they don't add Harry Potter to this park. It should make something new for people to travel to us more and keep Florida special for people from the UK.
Not seeing anyone bring up Aardman Animation, HUGE opportunity! AFAIK the Wallace and Gromit movie, as well as Chicken Run, were produced by DreamWorks so if they have any rights to those it would be fantastic
DreamWorks is a good idea, but only if they still get Seuss Landing too.
I know there's a Wallace and Gromit ride in Blackpool Pleasure Beach, not sure if that would cause problems?

I think the rumours are based on it being a licence they hold, but yeah I can see it happening, I'm just not sure how they could make it interesting. Rivendell might be too complex, the shire is too boring, Minus Tirith or Helms Deep wouldnt look iconic. I think it would be really difficult to pull off

I don’t think Harry Potter will be in the park at launch - with the park opening in 2030, kids will know the TV Potter (which could be two seasons in by then, I guess, so only up to Chamber of Secrets!) rather than the movies and, with the show only just getting going, they won’t have time to plan and build a (decent!) park area in time for it to open when the park does….
Disney just opened a Tron ride and Universal are making a Universal Monsters area, I don't think they worry too much about how recent franchises are

Warner Bros has an exclusive license for all Harry Potter-themed attractions in the UK. There will be no Potter presence in Universal Studios Great Britain for sure.

Lord of rings along with Pokémon will be the 2 biggest lands. Lord of rings will be split in to 3 mini lands after different locations in the films.

HTTYD should be a new take on Epic Universe’s Berk, with different rides.
Britain should have something like Avatar, something like Dueling Dragons, something like a mashup of a dark ride shooter and Jurassic Park River Adventure, and an outdoor stunt show like WaterWorld.
There is a new Jurassic world film coming and there are also some children’s to shows on Netflix which I think are pretty popular so there could be some interest but probably not by 2030

I actually disagree that universal GB would be wrong to not have hogwarts... why, because hogwarts looks similar to buildings in the UK anyway, things architecturally different would be better.

I have been to Orlando four times already over the last 25 years if you’re into theme parks and having fun and really doing a lot then it’s the capital theme park of the world.
i’m not a massive fan of American politics or their gun laws however they do know how to put a show on the one thing I will say about universal studios Great Britain is that they have already made it crystal clear several times that they will not be bringing the main attraction rides from the USA to Great Britain this means no Jurassic World rides no Harry Potter rides no Spider-Man nothing we have to look at universal Singapore and universal in China to get a better idea of the type of rides that we will be having.
finally that doesn’t mean that universal GB will be poor. It will still probably be the best theme park in the United Kingdom but in a different way they do not want to take away the factor from Orlando they still want people to travel to Florida and bring the money in .
