Your jambon beurre is perfect because it has what it takes, no more, no less. You put in sufficient butter and ham, which is crucial for its taste and that's why in so many bakeries jambon-beurres are not good, they are dry.
Very often, they try and compensate with tasteless cheese and out of place dry salad, but it doesn't make it any better. And it's not the same recipe anymore.

You specify the butter source but not the ham. Is it the Whole Foods variety?
Thx for the question. Yes Whole foods should have the French Ham. I believe it is in or near their Cheese section/counter and not the deli section.

We usually don't put mustard in a jambon beurre (also known as a "Parisien"). But you can make it however YOU like :) It's so simple that you can't really go wrong changing a thing or two to your liking. My go to living in France is to butter both sides, remove a layer of ham and put some emmental on top of the ham. Or use cured ham and switch the emmental for some tomme de brebis. Putting some salad and a couple slices of tomatoes, or even sliced hard boiled eggs is, is pretty popular as well.
