  • Have you explored Carlsbad Caverns National Park in New Mexico?
It's an amazing sight to behold. FYI🔴: You will need a reservation to enter the cave. I recommend making a reservation online at recreation.gov to secure your spot. You will also need a day pass or the America the Beautiful Pass to enter. I paid $15 for admission, and my son was free to enter.
🔴The Natural Entrance drops over 750 feet, like a 75-story building. I didn't use it and took the elevator instead bc I didn't want to overwhelm my nuero-divergent 4-year-old. I would recommend walking down (if you're able) and taking the elevator back up. The Big Room is at the bottom, and It's a massive limestone chamber nearly 4,000 feet long, 625 feet wide, and 255 feet high at its peak. It's the largest cave chamber in North America. It is home to different bat species, with flights out of the cave from April to October in the evenings.
🔴After we left the caves I planned on eating in White City at the Cactus Cafe, however, it closed at 3 pm. The restaurant inside the visitor center inside the caverns also closed at 3 pm. So plan accordingly if you want to eat there. There are really nice picnic areas in the park so you could pack a lunch.
