Carlsbad Caverns was probably the most unique place that I have not only hiked, but filmed. I hope that you all enjoy the video as the location is most definitely in a league of its own. I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through the caves chambers and was in awe of the formations. For those of you missing my backpacking videos, I just completed a multiple day backpacking trip. My first ever in the South!! It was fantastic! Stay tuned for that next Sunday! Thanks so much for your support and for watching everyone! It means a lot!
your title, says the strangest, but i bet, just like me, that n m will always be a special memory, from the tularosa and messila valleys to the caverns, and more, beautiful sunsets over the dust of the sierra, c; and the magnificent guadelupe mountains rising up from the vast chihuahan desert,...... c;

The cool thing about The USA is that you could make a video everyday for the next 1000 years and still show something new and fantastic. Well, I'm waiting... LOL 😹 Beautiful video as usual, see you next week 😺
I grew up in Carlsbad. We went down into the caverns 25+ years ago when I was in elementary school. We took the elevator down, then hiked out. What a day. The Ranger who led us turned out the lights for about 30 seconds. Talk about panic. Absolute darkness. I've probably been down into the caverns 20+ times over the 10 years I lived there. It's beautiful and a sharp contrast to the surface moonscape that is SE New Mexico. My buddy and I worked in the kitchen at the surface for a summer. Used to take a bus from Carlsbad to the site every day. We would ride the elevator with hundreds of pounds of food down to the cafeteria every day to restock. Quite the experience. There's a small water park just outside of Whites City that we worked at the next summer. I can say with total confidence that if you lather yourself up with vaseline, then go down the big slide, you will indeed hit the metal fence at the end. HAHA! Glad you enjoyed it!
I sat on those concrete steps while the bats were leaving the cave for a night of bug eating. They starter with just a few bats. After about 30 seconds the group got a little thinker and in just a few seconds the entrance to the cave was hidden behind a cloud of Black Mexican Bats. It took about an hour before the last bat left the cave. By then it was nearly too dark to see the path to the car. The noise was amazing. We were all scared that our heads were going to get attacked. The tour guide said "Now you know why All of us Rangers wear these large rimmed hats." I don't remember if anyone had the ability to laugh at that moment. Most of us were so stunned we just wanted to sit there quietly. Those bats sleep in a density of about 300 bats per square foot. Imagine that. I never could get my head around that number. But after seeing that cloud of bats, I know they had to be in there somewhere, somehow.
Thank you for sharing in such detail your experience. Although I’ve been to Carlsbad a few times I never saw them. It is on my list to experience soon. Must bring my grandaughter.
My husband and I were just there on January 29. Sorry we missed you. We both agreed one of the most amazing and extraordinary places we've ever seen or experienced. We'd love to go back this summer to see the flight of the bats. Safe and enjoyable travels to you!
I grew up here, my parents were park rangers and we literally lived at the park. It was an amazing place to be a kid, and just the best park. I haven't been back since we moved away when I was 10, but your shots gave me such intense memory flashbacks. I still see those roads and those cave formations in my dreams sometimes so watching this was a little surreal but I loved it. ^_^
Fabulous video, well done I. Such low and spotty light. What a challenge. Thanks for taking us along. I have not been there in many years and I think they closed the lunchroom deep down in the cave...
I was there a few decades ago. They turned off the lights to experience total darkness and silence. Then someone farted! The whole cavern erupted in laughter! Oh and the elevator broke so we had to walk back up! BTW...Kat with no hat! Thumbs High!
My two sons and I camped (in a tent then a second time in a popup camper) outside Carlsbad Caverns and toured the caverns twice in the 2000s. I still see my youngest son in my mind's eye carrying the lantern. He must have be seven years old at the time. The bats in flight viewing stage was special for us. Wonderful memories relived thanks to Catherine Gregory!
We were there in November 2019. The caverns are by far the best we have been through. Simply amazing, but to me the most exciting, and awe inspiring part of the tour happened later in the day when we watched the bats by the thousands fly out of the cavern. Simply wonderful.
Thank you for doing such a beautiful photography job on that one. I last went there on a family vacation when I was a small boy. My parents are no longer with us but your video brought back memories for me. It was kind of emotional for me in a good way. As always your music fit the location perfectly. 🥲
Hello, well you are 244 views from having a total of 33,000 views of your trip to Carlsbad Caverns video in just over one year. Hi Catherine! Just watched your video on my big screen 4K TV. Amazing!! I love that you post on Sunday morning. It's becoming a ritual in my house to cozy up with my morning coffee and watch your newest video before I ease into my day. I love seeing the beautiful footage of the places you are visiting, and the music that goes with is so soothing -- Really highlights the experience. I love nature and adventure so it makes me think about life in general. I hate to say it, but if one is plugged in to what is going on all around us in the world, the ugliness can really get you down. Your videos bring beauty and wonder into my space so Thank you so much! It looks like you are having a great time and the work feeds your soul. I'm hoping your channel grows and wishing you great success. Keep up the great work! :)
I remember being in awe as a youngster on a guided tour and they would turn out the lights and you could not see the hand in front of youTotal absolute darkness.Another great adventure! Thanks Cat and safe travels.
Loved Carlsbad Caverns too. Did it as a solo traveler many moons ago. The bat flight is amazing too! Thanks for the amazing photography inside. Happy trails...
Several years ago I took a West Coast Drive and ended up at Carlsbad completely surprised and blown away. Your smile excitement and joy of your life shines thru heaven. We have walked many paths and shared their majesty. Your message is one of appreciation for beauty and love of our Earth.Additionally your poetic narration blesses us with such harmonic tone. How you ended up doing this is our great reward. Hope to cross paths. Respectfully Peace
I took my two teenage daughters on an RV trip from NorCal to the keys. Amazing memories!! The caverns were our first major stop. You can’t help but feel in awe. For anyone thinking about going...... Just go. It’s amazing!
The Caverns are so beautiful and the depth of the trail to the bottom is several stories. We rode the elevator both ways down and back up. I'm glad you visited this national park Cat. Looking forward to your next stop. 🤗
Impressive video of an amazing place. Terrific visuals, everything is in sharp focus. You really did an outstanding job filming this. Really cool armchair road trip on a Saturday night. Thank You for taking me along.🙏👍😎🐕🦺
Thanks for showing ... Always something new .. keepl on camping... I like to be alone peace and quiet with a cup a coffee in the morning dreaming the sites ..
My sister and I did a road trip last year. We visited the Carlsbad Caverns and the White Sands. It’s amazing totally worth the trips. Thank you Catherine for sharing your road trips with us.
I spent today in Death Valley. Yesterday was Racetrack, today was 70F in Golden Canyon and saw few souls on the trail. So glad you were able to do the Caverns after a fabulous breakfast. I was worried it would be closed due to the virus. Your eye for photography made this visit far better than mine. The music choice and entire mood of this episode was beyond stellar.
Another memory recalled 50 years ago. Did stay till sundown and watched the Bats fly out of the cave. Check out Casssotat River Arkansas as you head East.
Catherine! I always love seeing your videos. I love how you got all shots and right angles. You do a great job and out fund beautiful scenery. Thank you Catherine I have never seen Carlsbad Caverns before but now I have and it is great and beautiful. See you soon! Stay safe and safe travels.

It's been a very long time since I've toured Carlsbad so it is nice to see you do so. Come to SD, we have 2 national caves here in western SD with one being one of the longest in the world. AND lot's of hiking.
