Great idea adding a colored paint. I tint mine with antique linen or vintage photo distress ink. I like the idea of having a batch already tinted. Thanks for sharing!
♥️
I want to make some tinted Gesso too.
Wow. Great idea! Gesso has skyrocketed in price here where I live in Michigan USA. I am going to g to give your recipe a try! TYFS ✂️🖍️📕
❤
I’ve been making my own texture paste for a while now, based on this same recipe, but with the baby powder and it’s great. Was wondering though if you could do a quick video on the differences between all the different products out there, as that can get confusing! ie: texture paste, gesso, gel medium, mod podge (pretty sure I saw some vids on UA-cam about a cheats version of this too) and what they are all used for. Thanks for sharing ❤️

Thank you!
🤗💛
I make mine with baby powder as I have found that maizena cracks. But now they have put cornstarch in the baby powder so going to try normal "adult" talcum powder and see if that works. I just loved the smell of the baby powder which also seems to have changed.
💚
I have the ingredients to give it a try once I run out of the commercial brand I have. Can you do a video showing how you clean supplies after using various mixed media products? I am always concerned about putting things down the drain. Most products seem to be plastics that are bad for the environment or could possibly clog the plumbing.

I make my gesso with unsanded grout powder or marble dust.
Great idea 💛
Thanks for the comparisons and the Gesso recipe.

💜💜💜 thank you!
🤍
Doesn't the PoP set up regardless, over time? Or does the glue slow it down? I'm really interested to know how long it stays useable...TFS!
Great question. This is the first time I’ve made it so will need to keep an eye on it and report back 💙
Thanks for sharing!!😊

Very cool... Thanks for sharing this and all your magic 💖

Thank you for making this video. I've been wondering if i could make Gesso myself.

I have made homemade texture paste, and it worked out very well. I used corn starch or baking soda in it as talcum powder has been outlawed (at leas the drug store varities) in the U.S.
My challenge is even though I keep it in a small mason jar with the lid firmly attached it is always drying out.
You can still get talc in the U.S.!

Thanks! 😃

Oh boy! This is so helpful to me living on a budget. Gonna give it a try with the baby powder. Thanks bunches
❤
This is great to know.
TFS❤
💚
I make mine with body powder. This was a good tutorial. TFS 😊
❤️
Great looking forward to making this gesso soon bought an off brand and it was horrible and the wrong color plus thick (said white on the outside) I was not pleased with the product must have been on the shelf since 2000 😡. Thanks for sharing your home recipe.💗. And yes I took that mess back 😃
💜
I just bought one yesterday, Amsterdam brand and it was Eur 9 in a similar size... and the Liquidtex was 32... that's in the city of Amsterdam.

Perfect timing...I just ran out of my gesso
🤍
Bunnings sells gesso?!?!?? 🤯 also I’ve been reluctant to use Kmart for a cheap paint. Do you find it turns yellow and can bleed through yellow? I found that happened with The Reject Shop white acrylic paint… even a small amount mixed with top brand paint
They sure do and texture paste and mod podge and paints, quite a bit in their craft section. I haven’t had an issue with Kmart paints yet, I have a few different brands that I tend to use together so wouldn’t know if a specific Kmart one caused a problem, but haven’t noticed anything yet overall 💜☺️
Could you use a flour sifter to alter the texture of diy gesso?
Will definitely give that a go 💛
je connais ce truc mais je ne trouve pas la recette pour pate a craqueler ? trés tendance ! j'espere que tu ferais d'un video d' une recette de PATE a CRAQUELER Merci
🤗❤️
Plast of paris = Baby powder?
They are not the same thing but you can use either one for this homemade gesso ☺️🩷
Plaster of Paris is a DIY-type of substance for filling cracks etc. or for making models using silicone moulds.
I would be very careful about using cornstarch in any craft, as it can attract mice and bugs that wouldn't otherwise be attracted to your craft area!
Yes I have heard that too, I will avoid the cornstarch ❤️
