"There is no try there is only do".......Yoda As a singer trying to play guitar and sing simultaneously, I found a miracle in looking strait ahead and trying really to do neither!!! Right down the middle seemed to be a place of freedom where suddenly the singing and playing played itself.....simply by not trying to do either but paying attention to somewhere in the middle where the integration was supposed to be taking place........and it did...almost magically :))) Thanks for the positivity and hope you imbue us amateurs with for a leap in our skill sets!!!

So interesting…. I’m thinking that may be the difference between people who seem to breeze through life and those of us who hesitate. Thanks so much for these videos Mark.

When you reworded it as, "What would be an elegant way to do this?" it really clicked for me. Every professional musician I have watched play up close, uses few motions, yet achieves amazing results. Thanks for another video that helps us think better in our musical journey.

So glad that slightly different take on things was helpful for you. And thanks for letting me know! It's really handy for me to understand which parts of a video are really hitting home and which aren't so helpful.

That's what my teacher tells me repeatedly: "Don't make it hard. Make it easy."

This is reminiscent of some questions that I explored in Matrix Energetics, for shifting the quantum field, changing reality, or for doing healing work.
_"If I did know what to do here, what would it be?"_
_"If I did know the answer, what would it look like?"_
I haven't used that practice in a while, but there is no reason why it would not work with music.
_"What would it look like if this were easy?""_
    *Here I come!*

Nice questions there, David. I had a very similar one recommended to me a while back that I find works very well. If you feel you don't know what to do, ask yourself: "Someone who DID know what to do... what would THEY do?"

I tried this approach with my flute and my saxoflute, and the results were truly amazing. Thank you for the suggestion!
I added one more important variation to the question:
_"What would it _*_feel_*_ like if it were easy?"_ That variant imparts _joy_ to my playing. Things become even easier when they're filled with delight!

This is great. I have always liked doing things that are a challenge. A good approach makes things better. C

Glad it was helpful, Carole. I think it's really important to have the attitude of embracing challenges. But we can still look for the *easiest* way to do things as we tackle them...

Excellent visualisation. Thank you. Could also put it 'what would it feel like if it were easy'.

Yup. That would work just as well. And might be more appropriate in some cases.

    What's the question?

    • @PlayInTheZone
      @PlayInTheZone  2 роки тому +2

"What would this look like if it were easy?" - I state this right at the start of the video.
