Julian, I went to London for the first time last October 2018. My friends were so annoyed with me, because everywhere we went I kept spouting little odd facts about the places 😂 I just re-watched this video and LOVE it! I'm taking my 18yr nephew to London March 2020. I will definitely look for the. Noses of SoHo.
I got yelled at today in Grand Central Terminal for walking to the end of a platform to get a view of the converging train tracks. But there wasn’t a sign or line or anything. I told the man I was an enthusiast. I only wound up with a picture of my finger. And one of my leg. And I deleted both of them
Any chance of doing a video guide of Tottenham joolz?. We've got Bruce castle home to the inventor of the penny post ,the river's moselle ,and lea seven sisters and also the place where Harry Champion lived for much of his life
That's quite ungracious of Charles not forgiving his executioner - that was the common practice since medieval times. It's not the executioner's fault, he's just doing his job. In fact aristocrats would often tip their executioner to make sure they did a good job and took off the head with one blow. It took three chops to sever Mary Queen of Scots' head, during which she was still alive.
The more I watch of these the more deeply I appreciate them. Entertaining and educational. I come back and re-watch each 3 or 4 times, just to get it all. The time and effort in researching and production organizing is obviously enormous. Joolz has 49K subscribers but at this writing, less than 75 Patreon supporters. A microscopic pittance in comparison to their value !! I invite other subscribers to make at least a small effort to rectify this imbalance.
The Eleanor Cross outside of Charing Cross station is a replica (that nasty Henry 8th again). That's why many people are confused and wrongly believe that measurements to London are to Charing Cross station.
I was a bit disappointed when you were at Trafalgar you didn't point out St Martins in the Fields. I think it was in the background when you showed the giant blue chicken.
When I return for a visit I shall ring you. I am glad that I discovered your videos as London is my very favorite mega-city. Washington DC and Berlin are my favorite mid size cities. Heidelberg is my favorite smaller city. I have not seen Scotland nor Manchester which I hear is very cool.
My wife and I are headed to London this September, and I've overloaded on details watching your videos now, Joolz. We're going to be walking along, and I'll suddenly go off about a weathervane or a parish boundary marker or mailbox... She'll wonder how I know all these little facts about London.
Thanks Gloria! I hope you've told your friends about them too! Get them all to subscribe so I can take over the world! It's free to do and won't get on your nerves or anything. Say hi if you see me!
The smallest police station you saw wasn’t just a Police station it was also an early version of the police telephone box and the lantern would light up and make a ringing noise as it called the police
Maybe after lockdown is lifted and visitors are down to far less than normal we Londoners might be able to enjoy our own city again without the overwhelming crowds of mass tourism - well it won’t last of course but hopefully a year or two would be great.
An excellent video Julz. We love getting to the big smoke when we can and your vids add context to many aspects of the most fascinating city in the world
The lamp on top of the police hut would flash when the police station control room needed to attract attention of the police officers in the Square to inform them of ?? well what ever they needed to be informed of... there was a phone inside..
Oh, that’s a good one! I have a cousin, now retired from the force, who spent many years on 10 Downing St, back in the days when one could walk right up the street, stand out front, take photos, & watch people going in & coming out. One day, we were walking through Trafalgar Square, & he showed me the little structure that is London’s smallest police station. You are the only other person I have heard mention it. 👍🙋♀️🥂 Very nice!!
Nelson's "Fleet" The lamp posts lining The Mall From Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar all have a ship atop. Each one is named and each one took par tin the Battle of Trafalgar. Nelson's statue in the Square looks down the Mall at his "fleet"
The base of the column is pointed SSE, however Nelson's head is turned to his right which is SSW. I drew a line approximating the direction of his gaze and, if extended far enough, goes toward the waters off Cape Trafalgar in Spain, the site of his victory.
Did you know that the imperial measurements for length are beside the wall on the National Gallery side of the Square. Before building started on the Victoria Line Tube a group of engineers had to verify the steel bands, (not the empty oil barrel drums} these are steel measuring tapes that are held under tension using an old fashioned hand held weight scale. Reading would be taken by an engineer at both ends, 3 readings would be taken and the average used as the final reading.
Really? Bloody hell! My friend told me that joke and her mum is Scottish! Ok, I'm going to have to 'ave words with her! As it happens I love both Bing and Fred so I guess I can alternate! Thanks Alan. I also think that the bas reliefs are from a different battle but but it's still a ship of some sort.
I just came across an updated version of the long-running Scottish gag which I thought would make you chuckle: What's the difference between Walt Disney and Patsy Kensit? Patsy Kensit but Walt Disney.

Tut tut, in trouble with the police. :)

You nearly ended up in the tiny cell!

And this is way I wish I was a Londoner..... Love to all Brittons.
That cravat is pure class. Such exquisite taste Joolz has.
Almost got arrested for tweaking that nose!

Hi Joolz. I am a new subscriber and love your vlogs so much that i have emailed the BBC to commission you a show. Hope it works !!!’
The clock in the Horse Guards Parade archway has a black smudge at 2:00. That mark signifies the time of day when the King was beheaded.

I love all your videos, I'm literally watching them all, brilliant
Oh thanks! The documentaries are good too. Amazing that no one sees fit to employ me on TV isn't it?
Should have at least a Netflix or Amazon series
The Eleanor Cross outside of Charing Cross station is a replica (that nasty Henry 8th again). That's why many people are confused and wrongly believe that measurements to London are to Charing Cross station.
I love your video, it helps me find attractive places and know their history.I very glad to see you at Covent Garden,
Hi there!!! Oh!! Was that you? We had a nice photo together, didn't we?
Jules is very charming, even the police can't get angry at him.

Another great production.
The smallest police station you saw wasn’t just a Police station it was also an early version of the police telephone box and the lantern would light up and make a ringing noise as it called the police
Thank you. That was the most enjoyable entertainment of the week .
Remarkable similarity between King Charles I and Tony Robinson, don't you think?

Thanks Nicolaus. Aiming for 5000 subs by the summer!
Gets bailed up by the cops😂 and I never knew that Charles got his head chopped off there at Whitehall and I’ve walked up that street many times
Me too.
Mark Cook amazing how many times one walks the streets of London only to discover something new
So Charles I was executed for marrying a catholic was he? I guess that' must be one of your interesting "facts"!
You are brilliant !
Cheers my good man. So are you!
I bet the pigeons in Trafalgar Square I thinking where is all the people during this lockdown
You missed the standard imperial measures in Trafalgar Square and that the lions have cat paws.
Maybe after lockdown is lifted and visitors are down to far less than normal we Londoners might be able to enjoy our own city again without the overwhelming crowds of mass tourism - well it won’t last of course but hopefully a year or two would be great.
Hi! Joolz Guides. How are you? When I was in Soho I saw 10 noses in London, UK in September,8th-18,2017.
An excellent video Julz. We love getting to the big smoke when we can and your vids add context to many aspects of the most fascinating city in the world
Thanks. It's great to know they're helping you enjoy London :)
People with less than 300k subscribers shouldn't be begging people to pay up.
You are hilarious. You offer tours?
Hi Deeanda. Yes, feel free to contact me on joolzguides.com
jools is that mark on the pavement not an ordnance survey trig point that was used for for surveying?
these are great vids and deserve many more views!
Thanks! Yes, for some reason the Mayfair one has gone crazy! It's not even my best!
Watching in Dec 2020! lol
Merry Christmas to all!
I love how you keep accepting people with historical facts in this one and even get in trouble with the law!
The lamp on top of the police hut would flash when the police station control room needed to attract attention of the police officers in the Square to inform them of ?? well what ever they needed to be informed of... there was a phone inside..
Great Tour and Funny Too.. the pieces of trivia are very interesting.
Oh dear, Nearly on the wrong end of a truncheon eh Joolz.....................Not again.

Nelson's "Fleet"
The lamp posts lining The Mall From Buckingham Palace to Trafalgar all have a ship atop. Each one is named and each one took par tin the Battle of Trafalgar. Nelson's statue in the Square looks down the Mall at his "fleet"
Is that so? I thought he was looking more towards Whitehall..gosh I can't remember..
The base of the column is pointed SSE, however Nelson's head is turned to his right which is SSW. I drew a line approximating the direction of his gaze and, if extended far enough, goes toward the waters off Cape Trafalgar in Spain, the site of his victory.
I wasn't a big fan at first, but something kept pulling me back to your videos and now I really REALLY enjoy watching you.
Wonderful films. They have brought back so many happy memories and will be great for those who cannot go to London
This channel is amazing don’t understand why it hasn’t got well over a million subs. Iv been watching this channel for hours and hours recently
I'm going to London after 33 years this July. Anyone has good ideas I would like to see. Please let me know.

I have climbed the lions at Trafalgar Square so many times, and sat on the backs of the lions. Ahhh, memories.
The stone plinth under the “south-west” lion has fire spall damage still visible from a fire lit by a crowd in connection with the First World War.
How much is your love these guys videos
Lived in London all my life me my kids think there fantastic
Your on my get pissed with list Joolz.
Great work.
Keep going.
Fantastic videos so informative and feel like I've been to london the videos are that good keep up the good work jools
Joolz, great video as ever but you missed out the most interesting fact about Craigs Court. Deliberate?
Nelson is looking in the direction of his ship, the Victory, in Portsmouth.
I like your style sir

Terrific vid but yer patter's fucking rotten, mate. It's Bing Crosby and Walt Disney. "Bing sings but Walt disnae".
Really? Bloody hell! My friend told me that joke and her mum is Scottish! Ok, I'm going to have to 'ave words with her! As it happens I love both Bing and Fred so I guess I can alternate! I just came across an updated version of the long-running Scottish gag which I thought would make you chuckle:
What's the difference between Walt Disney and Patsy Kensit?
Patsy Kensit but Walt Disney.
That's good to hear!
You can't be runnin' 'round tweakin' noses in this traffic!
