10:35 Just pointing out that it's not so much as having a second magnet that cancels/reduces the hum as it's having a second COIL that's wound in a specific way that does the trick. Otherwise, how does a stacked Strat pickup which has two coils that are wound around a single set of poles works? The stacked pickup's two coils are each wound differently, one coil is wound in reverse and connected in reverse to the other coil. Much like a humbucker but on a single set of poles than two.
I have 3 guitars, one needs to be fixed, it has a beautiful warm sound 2 singles and 1 hum. My Schecter has 2 hums with a coil splitter and I also have a Squier. But when it comes to colors and textures, as you mentioned, for me that all comes from my effects processor
I got a question: I've noticed that in the Les Paul, the neck pickup is closer to the strings than the bridge pickup; plus, the bridge pickup is not perpendicular to the strings. Does that affect their sound? If both humbackers were at the same distance from the strings and parallel to them, would they both sound the same?
Came here to work out what sort of set up I wanted for my first guitar but I'm more conflicted than before! The red guitar, you said belonged to the guy from ToTo? Sounds so much better
Have you ever seen a Frankenstrat with 3 single coils, in the LENGTH of the body? So, one under E&A, another under D&G, and the 3rd under the B&E strings? I wonder what sound you'd get. Any thoughts on that?
My careful impression is, most people just color between the lines. Please please please, help me find out, how my Frankenstrat will perform, with 3 pickups in line with the strings, instead of across the strings. The 5-switch won't be any good, it needs all 3 pickups. Or maybe switching one off is interesting.
I use semi hollows on the neck position for hard rock. Sounds very counterintuitive, I know. I just can't get to like bridge pick-ups. Too bright for my taste.
Guitar is driving me crazy! I can’t focus and I can’t find a really easy beginner song to learn on electric guitar so it’s making me more frustrated. Do u have any suggestions that could help me out? Also, 1
he has a ton of 1 finger songs to start with, a great way to have fun while learning your way around the guitar - just remember that in between remember to practice your chords and scales.
Hey Pat! I saw that you didn't answer my comment, maybe you didn't see it, but I was paranoid that I accidentally hurt your feelings so I erased it lol I said that I thought you needed a guitar with humbuckers... I didn't mean that you shouldn't have one with single coils, just that you sound good with a humbucker guitar in your collection Sorry if I worded stuff badly =]

If any of you know Bill Haley I do love his single dearmond pickup at the neck of the guitar. Sounds fantastic.

Helpful video. Thank you.
You’re welcome thanks for checking it out
Great video. Thank you, roll back the volume if you must, very important, many forget that simple trick.
I think of the notes and strings as the colors for the artist to paint with and the instrument is the different thicknesses of paint brushes
Awesome video
I got a question:
I've noticed that in the Les Paul, the neck pickup is closer to the strings than the bridge pickup; plus, the bridge pickup is not perpendicular to the strings.
Does that affect their sound?
If both humbackers were at the same distance from the strings and parallel to them, would they both sound the same?
It does affect the sound, the closer the pickup is the more volume each string has
If you're like me that's too lazy / too dense to notice. Check at 6:32.
I like the neck and middle pickup switched on together. After watching your video I will try all that you have explained.
For the guitar solo of The Cars's song Shake It Up do you think they are actually playing a single coil like they are in the music video?

Only one way to find out how it sounds, do it :)

Hey I'm a recent subscriber I love your videos you upload. One question I had is how do you play a rock n roll or heavy metal strumming pattern?
Joel Barron you don’t, you learn scales, keys, then you play rock
Wtf?? This is the dumbest question I've ever heard..
@@waxxy8447 yo dude be patient! He’s maybe just a beginner!
I want an Ernie ball musicman but my god they’re expensive. Feels like I could buy 2 guitars instead of one..
