you could also attach it at the location where you would have installed it and, if you ever require it, you can simply unplug the oem switch and plug in the dongle? this way you never have to search for it.
Correct me if I am wrong but even with that dongle installed the motorcycle should not have "taken off" on you if you hit the starter ...the bike wont start in gear without the clutch pulled.....am I right? regardless of kickstand dongle it knows if you are in gear or not...I assume?....yes? no? If that is true then how would it have "take off" on you?? Now bypassing the clutch safety? THEN that situation might occur I dont think I would advocate deleting THAT....although on my V strom I had that switch connection pop loose multiple times....usually if I fell over in the sand or wherever ....luckily I quickly figured that out the first time....unlike others that give up and call for a tow for the want of plugging in a loose connector lol BTW have to try that tomorrow....put stand up put in gear no clutch pulled and then hit the starter....I am almost positive it wont try to start...yes?
My 2021 690R had to have this dongle to defeat the sidestand switch. No way to do a work around, the ECU wont allow it. On a rough road the sidestand can flop down and kill the engine. Or the switch can die leaving you stranded needing a truck.
Bike would not "take off on you" if you hit starter with dongle plugged in....right? Because IF in gear the CLUTCH has to be pulled in ....right? I have to try that tomorrow....put side stand up then put in gear no clutch pulled and then hit the starter....I am almost positive it wont try to start..? I would bet money on it ....side stand up essentially same as having the dongle plugged in
Bike shouldn't start in gear even with the bypass plug connected as the clutch micro switch needs to be closed before the engine will start if the bike is in gear
I cant believe I am actually paranoid to delete the side stand safety switch....ALL those years and many motorcycles I NEVER had this and never had a problem but now all the sudden I have to be afraid? LOL...Seems pretty silly....I mean sure I understand manufacturers being afraid of law suits (even though KTM makes off road dual sports with default abs front and rear so bike cant be safely STOPPED....what no fear of law suits for THAT ktm??? lol) And so OF COURSE Vanasche HAS to call this "dongle" and emergency deal not to be installed except to get home....cause THEY dont want to get sued either! Funny thing I I bypassed the switches on every other bike I have owned with the things....so why all the sudden am I afraid to on this one?? LOL....cant explain it btw reason I am even here right now? My 2020 690 enduro just yesterday cut out and back in then died in 6th gear high speed over some rollers on paved section of orange grove road...I seriously thought I blew my motor it just felt AWFUL...I did not even want to try to start the bike so I called my wife to bring the truck....well apparently it was the damn kickstand mananged to swing down and sort of hoover on the brink of making contact.....and or the switch is just failing idk.....guess I have to buy the "dongle" or find out what resistor or whatever is in it and make something up....
Mine did the same, I tried to wheelie off a speedbump for some kids in town, and the kickstand moved and killed the engine. I put the Vanasche dongle on yesterday. And also did away with ABS/TC.
Thanks for the video. I just recently purchased a 2020 ktm 690 and I am following your videos for my accessories.
I hope it all went well!
Did it on my DRZ, jump the switch and forgot sometimes, it jumps but not crazy amount. It'll starttle you thats for sure......
Thank you was an easy fix on side of roads thanks to video... was not my issue so off to the shop unfortunately ✌️

Definitely could give you a bad day if you forget and don't pay attention....

I've kept the switch. I'm just more careful how I put the bike on a stand.
