Thank you for making the point that it should be carried as an emergency spare to get you out of trouble. I rode my 2022 690 for its first dirt ride last week with a similar dongle fitted and at one stage took off without the sidestand in the up position. Luckily for me I realised it and stopped after it touched the ground. And get this, my riding friend did exactly the same thing when I loaned him my bike. Between the 2 of us we have just over 100 years of riding experience and I haven’t made that mistake in many decades.
The deal is, if you ride the bike hard, the kick stand can and will flop down enough to kill the engine, possibly shooting you over the handlebars. It can seem like some random thing but its the kickstand moving down. The ABS sucks on dirt, the Traction control sucks on dirt, the kickstand switch sucks on dirt. If your just gonna putt around none of this much matters. Unless that stock sensor dies in middle of no where, and you gotta walk away and find a truck. It has happened, cannot be fixed at trail side. 89.00 for this bypass piece is ass nine. I think.

Thanks for the video 👍
I see a benefit to flipping it upward, creating a drip loop for water to run down the wiring, away from the unit.
