The Praxis Wave (Remake)

- Good Evening ladies and gents. Presenting...The Praxis Wave (Remake). This one was challenging to make. Remember, Im no where near professional, so I had ALOT of frustrating moments trying to figure out how to make these waves at certain angles. Then having my computers power supply conk out on me while making this, then missing a codec and it reappearing out of no where...yea this one was a bit of a journey lol.
So, in this remake, Ive gone with how it was stated in the dialog. "I have an energy wave at 204 degrees Mark 6 Port, sir" told me the wave was coming from around 7 o'clock of the ship. Yet the movie show it hitting the vessel around the 2 o'clock area. Also, inside the wave, Sulu says "Starboard thruster, turn her into the wave". In the movie, we see her turn into the wave towards starboard. To me, indicating the port thruster was used. So, I asked around if you guy wanted me to make this as shown in the movie, or follow the dialog (having the wave hit around her 7 o clock, then using the starboard thruster to turn port into the wave). Nearly every response I received was to follow the dialog. So, here ya go :)
Another addition I put in was the first wave hitting the ship. I figured what was initially felt was subspace turbulence before both waves actually hit. In the movie, we see them feel the turbulence, and we see them reacting to both waves, yet only really see the last wave hit. So I wanted to find away to add the first wave hitting, so I extended that seen twice as long and lined everything up using a bit of the first waves "boom" hit to impact the ship.
Finally, I added shields. For when Sulu calls for them and when the vessel is inside the wave.
Note, I titled this "The Praxis Wave (Remake)" instead of "The Praxis Incident" because THAT will be a more complete remake. Showing more of Qo'nos, updated LCARS for the viewscreen and what not. This was more of a quick remake
As always...enjoy :)

I love the blue effect that surrounds the Excelsior when she’s hit by the wave
Sulu: Starboard thrusters! Turn her into the wave!
Helmsman: Aye!
@berd I was thinking the same thing
And the shield effect was cool too
FWIW, one thing I noticed about this scene in the movie: Capt. Sulu calls for the shields to be raised. While this was certainly done for _dramatic effect,_ in the original series I recall at least one episode where {Lt.} Sulu himself commented that the shields had automatically been switched on by the Enterprise's computer. I _presume_ the computer on the Excelsior would have done the same automatically.
Incredible improvement on the wave. Beautifully done.
The impact was very strong well done!
Tintin1
1 day ago I strongly agree.
Jamie Olberding Hey nice to see you here! :D how are you?
@@Tintin1 You too. My family and I are doing alright. How's you and your family doing during COVID-19 Corona Virus? Also, have you started on any of my LEGO spaceship video requests?
Jamie Olberding We are good for now but we stay careful about the crisis cause it’s restarting here. About video requests, not really. I’m working on a fantastic show which takes me a lot of times. However I don’t forget you and other requests, I noted them on the paper. there is the show: ua-cam.com/video/LyrmBAFbiTA/v-deo.html it’s a LEGO crossover of many sci-fi shows like Star Trek, doctor Who, Stargate and much more! If you’re interested. Most of the sets are built by me. If you are, you can share it with your friends who like that.
To the guys who made this video great job also although you made one little mistake when you made this video you had the position of the Excelsior all wrong she was facing the wave when it hit her in the saucer section just as the shields were raised and the last time we heard the name of Praxis mentioned was in the Star Trek Voyager episode 'Flashback' where it was revealed that Lt. Tuvok served on the Excelsior as an Ensign and it's also strange that what happened in the after effects on the Klingon homeworld after Praxis exploded was never spoke about or talked about throughout every other Star Trek series.
I’d love to see a Star Trek style film based on the Klingon empire and the events leading up to praxis.
I love it, you certainly are a professional to me, this was very impressive!!
It was good to get a glimpse of Janice Rand too!! 🖖
Thank you :)
@Floyd1504 Oh for God's sake get a life & don't be so negative, you'll live longer!!! 😏
I liked the original.
Good job on the shields of the Excelsior
@1:00 Valtine is next to Capt.Sulu then a 1:03 he's at a science station standing behind 2 bridge crew lol
Y'know, I gotta admit, this was _very_ well done
The USS Excelsior class ships will always be my favorites.

1.57K subscribers Cool. I really like this remake of the destruction of the Klingon moon Praxis.
Good stuff
Killer work as usual!
I’m glad you got the port and starboard angles correct! Yes!!!!
That was a totally amazing video
I like how you made it look like a cosmic sandstorm
That's unfortunately the end of his cup of tea!
I can feel that wave from my home in western Canada!!
Really well done! Love the remake! Ave! 🙏💕✝️
nice job :) came out well
Great job on the explosion! Thank you.
It's nice to see "Yeoman" Janice Rand back in Star Fleet again.
Fantastic! Great work!
I always thought the editing was so poor it appeared that Valtine was in 2 places at once on the bridge. Since VOY episode Timeless, where they killed Valtine but he was still shown at the end of TUC, I came to my own conclusion that Valtine had a twin brother also serving on the Excelsior. You see Valtine number 2 at 1:02 of this video.
You mean Flashback.
Whoops....Yes....And thank you. Timeless was the slipstream gone bad episode where we were introduced to an alternate timeline where LaForge was Captain of his own ship.
When you over mine your moon so much that it causes a FTL sub space wave. That damages a ship hundreds of light years away
Is there any chance you might do the space battle between Kirk and general Chang’s bird of prey that fire while cloaked
They were headed home on impulse... I guess they wanted to reach earth in a couple hundred years or something
God D@$n!
Wave was good but the ship needs more detailing.
It looks a bit too cartoony even for video games.
Good work though.
Great work, but there is just so much wrong with that scene in the movie that no update can fix it.
I know you're probably not going to touch on it, but can you do the Nemesis version of The Enterprise-E? :)
Better then Hollydorks
What does the Federation have against seatbelts?
The first Burn.
Could you recreate just the space scenes but with Other ships instead of just Excelsior!?
Why aren't you in Hollywood? LOL!!!
In general, I like your videos, but you could have done better with the special effects of this particular video. The scene where the Excelsior gets hit by the shockwave from Praxis looks much better with the movie's original special effects, even though those effects are much more primitive than what can be done with special effects technology of this day and age.
Comment 🖖😁
Need a better Excelsior model...
The remake suxs
I will stick with ILM'S work, thanks.
One of the best films of the Kirk and crew series.. after star trek 2 and 3 of course.. all the J.J. films are rubbish nothing like the normal films not done by that fool J.J. Abrams who has ruined both the star trek franchise and the star wars franchise... all his films are non cannon rubbish.
Yuck, is there any point to this if its way worse than the 30 yr old original?
