Man, this game is creepy, weird and awesome. I recall drawing that last alien boss many times in school notebooks. Sure, I beat this game a BUNCH, despite how hard it can be each time. But I had no idea Nightcrawler could move like that! That's insane!
I must have only made it as far as the Magneto boss fight back in the 90s when I was a kid because I don't recognize ANYTHING after that. This game was absurdly difficult.
lol, the credits are almost as long as playthrough! Granted that is a LOT of text to get through, at least double the length of the previous X-Men title by this developer
One thing I will give to this game is that it has some nice real time sprite scaling effects. Some even running at 60 fps! (Others run at 30 fps) I mean, sprite scaling on the MD isn't that uncommon, but this along with The Lawnmower Man easily have some of the smoothest scaling.
My brother and i used to play this game a lot as kids (and never make it any further after the temple climb stage) and laugh at how when some of the bosses were hit, it sounded as if they were cheering, "yay," in a very deep voice. Lol
@@solarflare9078 Oh, I wouldn't know. I liked Chakan, The Forever Man, but didn't really give X-Men 2: Clone Wars the time of day. I played it a couple of times, but I just couldn't get into it. The first X-Men game is my favorite, tho.
@@solarflare9078 It's not the driver that's horrendous, it's the shitty preset instruments. The actual features that the driver itself offers are pretty impressive; not even SMPS had Channel 3 Mode support.
From the author's comments on the TAS page: "Time for some two-player madness! The big bug can be killed in one round (three hits) with Wolverine - it has 24 HP and every A-slash does 8 damage. Since the rounds are very long, this saves lots of time. A similar strategy with one player can kill the boss in one round. The strategy is performable in real time, but usually means you take damage after the first A-slash. The bug boss behaves slightly different when there are two players. The wall is slightly further to the left, which means Wolverine can duck under the last attack. Also, the player’s temporary invulnerability after scoring a hit is longer, which means that we don’t take damage despite ending up inside it. This means we can attack sooner, and the boss fight is about 100 frames faster as a result. The game runs at half framerate with two players. This is compensated by the players moving twice as long every other frame, so the action continues at the same pace. This actually means the game is MORE lag-tolerant when there are two players, since it already updates every other frame. However, the input precision is halved. For some reason, the running scene is twice as long if you are two players. Because of this, we kill off Beast."
This was the Empire Strikes Back of the X-Men video game franchise. A perfectly done sequel and everyone's designs were at their most bada$$.
This game looks really good for the genesis
It IS good. 🙂
Seeing Nightcrawer go this fast makes me think he took the term "godspeed" too literally.
if his like this in movies he might be as level as quick silver.
The sequel to Mega Man: Wily Wars- X-Men: The Clone Wars
Funny you mention that. There is an actual Wily Wars sequel being worked on called The Sequel Wars, and it's even running on the Genesis proper.

the previous game was much, much harder than this one. because mutants there couldn't spam their abilities freely

Man just hopped on apocalypse hover board and dipped like that?!
It's a shame there was never a decent Superman or The Flash side-scroller. A speedrun would be mind bending.
Nightcrawler is a speed demon after all...
Even the demo doing some TAS
That isn’t a demo, the game literally throws you into the first level when you turn on the console

So far I think this is the only game to literally throw you in with no "press start" button

The game doesn’t need anything from you
I have no idea why I keep keeping schizo replies like these. By “give to this game”, I mean offering a compliment/praise.
Nvm, I figured out it was an empty profile (a bot), LMAO.
Dead Internet Theory is becoming more real by the year
Wasn't Lawnmower Man a Sega CD title...?
13:53 Ok.
good old days

This was a godly speedrun! Holy shit
Muy buen juego de la sega. Gracias
Good Job broo
Is this the same sound effects set as chakan the forever man?
Sounds like it to me.
They both use the horrendous GEMS sound driver

After Sentinel and "fatal attractions'' storyline, i've no idea what comics we're referring to :D
The Pharlanx Covenant that came after Fatal Attractions in the mid-90's. Basically Invasion of the Body Snatchers for the mid 90's more or less.
Very cool.. Most dificulty ..you did to stand easy ..like
I still got my X-Men 2 still play it
Does anyone know the purpose of loading in a 2nd player on the last level?
Nope, maybe a glitch or something to beat fast the monster.

Nice
excelent game, but story just text everywhere
john wick?
You’re on adderal fr
TAS = tool-assisted speedrun. i.e., this isn't performable by a human being
Crap game with good grphics
