- Today I had the great opportunity to hit with Jack Draper. He is a year older than me, and is crushing it on his pro journey, having made it already into the worlds top 50 ! He is definitely one to look out for in the future. Hope you enjoy :)

The pace and heaviness of the balls from Draper is crazy. Top 50 is whole different level!
And the stamina you have to had to consistenly hit those balls it's crazy.

Who’s here after Draper got to the semi finals of the us open?
Epic, man. This guy has beaten Tsitsipas & Felix AA this year, won a set recently against Carlos in a close match, has jumped more than 200 spots in the rankings in the last 12 months. Could definitely be top 10 or top 20 in 12 months' time. Next year will be very fierce. Would love to have heard some details about how this was arranged.

He was quite young, so we were both 14
The Dude killed me in quarters or RO 16 I think it was like 6-1 6-1

As Spanish I love Jack, he will be top 10 for sure, also GS and MC champion, maybe #1 but there will be a lot of competence with FAA, Alcaraz, Sinner and Rune. I hope injuries respect him during his career. Great content!

That was cool and interesting. Playing someone at Drape's level really improves your own strokes. You started to relax as the consistency of the returns are super high with consistent pace and you started to work less., sweat less :)
This is just what you need. Very strong opponents like Draper will give you so much more to know what to improve. Very good content Felix!
One thing I notice, Felix, is how much balance is takes to handle the pace of top players' balls. If you open up your shoulders or stance too widely, the ball will sail long, but if you're too tight and not loose and adding a lot of racquet head acceleration, then it's easy to hit balls into the net. Well done with this hit against Jack Draper!

The reason I love playing tennis is precisely that, to see a pro playing a near pro shows how much room to improve... and that for me is the challenge of a lifetime
You could really see the clean hit and wicked pace off the bounce from his FH it was giving your FH fits
If you look at it from the perspective that he was less than 2 games away from beating world number 1, I think he will be at that position one day. You played with a hell of a player

there are tons of people who have been 2 games from beating a world number 1 who never have. I doubt Draper will be a world number 1 i think he may become a consistent top 20 ish

Lucky for you to hit with Jack Draper.
His older brother Ben was in my age group, and always played the same tournaments as me.
I’d always see jack hang around at tournaments, he was younger and a lot smaller back then.
Always surprises me when these younger players make it big because from my perspective it’s literally out of no where
Clean hitting and easy power from both wings from Draper. He's only 20, and no longer needs to play qualifiers so the sky is the limit for the young man. Top 20-25 this year is my guess. Once he makes deeper pushes in tournaments he'll be playing top 50 players consistently, and that will reveal his level more than anything.

Jack was at Hazelwood for a while with Ryan Jones. I got a close up look at how good he was (playing on the next court to him). He is a very hard worker. His serve is a beast!!!

Wow that's awesome that you got to hit with Jack! Can you notice a big difference in the way Jack hits the ball compared to a futures player?
I think Jack has a shot of finishing top 20 next year and maybe having a deepish run in a slam. I also think Jack will capture his first ATP title next year as well.
I never thought he'd be a top 100/50 player but kudos to him, he's improved loads and has a real shot of being top 10 and maybe even getting a slam one day.

He could definitely reach top 20 if he can just avoid these niggling muscle injuries. He's had to pull out of a few tournaments, either halfway through matches or even missing whole tournaments, which is such a shame. Not sure if it's something you grow out of as you become battle hardened. But Jack has definitely got the temperament and the talent to go right to the top. Been watching him since he reached the Wimbledon junior finals at the age of 16 and he showed massive potential even then.
Felix, you are correct when you say that it is hard for those watching to appreciate the pace and the heaviness players at this level hit with. I used to hit frequently with Rob Kendrick who was like 60 in the world. When players like this really turn it on, the amount of core and leg strength required to stay in a rally is insane. Nice video

If you can even play with Jack Draper, then who knows who else you may be able to hit with in the future. (Like: Lorenzo Musetti, Holger Rune and maybe even Alcaraz!) Incredible talent, there is no doubt that you would be better than the pros!

Jack can climb the bean stalk all the way up but will need Clay, Clay and more Clay to get his footing to the next stage. Would love to see him hire Michael Chang for bring up the tenacity or Stefanki for some Lendl like toning up to stay light and nimble.
