It happened in San Diego in the 90's - a former serviceman stole that tank, drove through town and then onto the freeway - where he got hung up on the median divider, and was killed by police. If he hadn't got the tank stuck, Camp Pendleton had already scrambled an Apache to neutralize the threat. Truth is stranger than fiction. The one you are referring to is known as the Killdozer. That one was out in the midwest I believe. Cheers!
