I personally worked on this bridge, installing the bridge joints on the deck itself. It's nice to see it all finished and people using it. The site engineer told us when we were on site just before Christmas that there had already been a stolen car which was ditched down the embankment to the bottom of the stairs where the old Rover 100 is sat. It had to be dragged up those steps which unfortunately damaged the granite kerbs. You can actually see the scorch marks on the grass at 8:21. The big exposed concrete mounds you go by at 8:30 will eventually be all mosaic tiles over time just like you seen on the main sculpture on the bridge. Not a cyclist myself but it certainly looks smooth enough to ride on!
We went over that bridge in October as part of a 600 mile cycle trip, great to see it finished. Our trip took us from Northumberland to Carlisle then onto Ayr, then east through Glasgow, Edinburgh and back to Northumberland via Innerleithen. Cycling through Glasgow was and amazing experience by bike, initially we were not looking forward to that section, it turned out to be the best bit of city cycling the whole tour.
@@glasgowcycles when I finally get my life in order I will put the video up on my channel @bimblingabout, I have about 1TB of stuff to sift through and keep putting it off. The basic route when like this, Blyth in Northumberland then onto NCN route 10 to Hexham, this was originally supposed to be route 1 but the Great North Run was on that day, then route 72 Carlisle. After that Carlisle- Annan, Annan - Castle Douglas, Castle Douglas to Newton Stewart, Newton Stewart to Ayr through the Forest of Galloway, Ayr to Paisley, Paisley to Falkirk, Falkirk to Dalkeith, Dalkeith to Innerleithen, Innerleithen to Norham, Norham to Seahouses, the back to Blyth. All in all a very memorable trip. We are currently planning a variation on the Lochs and Glens North route for next year.
What a brilliant structure! Stockanfield junction was a very easy place to go wrong when I cycled Dumbarton to Edinburgh a few years ago. I remember humphing my bike with panniers down a lot of steps and through a scarily narrow tunnel. Thanks for showing some really good stuff about Glasgow. What a great recreational facility for walkers, wheelers and cyclists.
Impressive, inspiring, beautiful! American here who is coming to Glasgow & Edinburgh in late January on holiday (I know it may be crazy but I like off-season pricing and rain). I am going back and forth on whether or not to bring my Brompton. I really want to for the extra ground I would be able to cover, but I know the high humidity creates a level of cold that soaks through bones! Anyway, great videos! I am also a huge Still Game fan FWIW. Cheers!
The bridge looks fab, it was a construction project that we had to negotiate when I cycled through there with my son in 2021 so great to see the finished work.
I live in the east end and knew nothing about this bridge till I saw it on twitter the other day. It's fantastic. First time I've come across you're video. Subscribed 👍
Can't wait to cycle back up along the canal and cross the new bridge. It looks amazing and saves having to dip down onto the narrow road below the canal to get onto the other side of the canal. Used to cycle up that way all the time when living in Glasgow and going to the gym at Gairbraid. Great vid and a nice cycle.
Lovely cycle around. Haven’t cycled around there at all. In from EK, a cycle down from Balloch is about my limit but is a nice one alongside water most of the way. That was a rare sunrise. Hanging about is chilly isn’t it after you’ve built up a bit of sweat. A fleece in my pannier bags has been handy. That bridge is quite something!Atb …Terry
Definitely find it difficult to set up the camera and get the shots that I want when it’s really cold but definitely worth it if I manage to capture a nice sunrise.

If this is the Stockinfield Bridge you are filming? As a Glaswegian and as someone who lives in that area this Bridge is a total vanity project. We as a Community all had high hopes for this Bridge, however it doesn’t go anywhere , so why was the point? It cost Mullions of pounds. Why wasn’t the Money spent on Communities ie Cadder, Lambhill, Ruchill Ie the community centre that has been shut since Covid? It’s lovely to look at all lit up at night this bridge but it is a lame duck.
I'd appreciate it if you stopped with the strobing LED lights and just kept them on when you are cycling around there in the dark. I cycle daily, but I have sight problems, and these people with the flashing lights can cause me temporary blindness. So keep them on please. Thanks.
Please wear fluorescent hi-vis, head to toe. Cyclists simply don't appreciate why so many cyclists needlessly die because they do not follow this advice. YOU know you're there but traffic msy include those who have forgot their driving glasses, are drunk, are on drugs, are speeding, are fatigued, have a lot going on in their mind, have windscreen condensation, etc, etc. You do not look like a twat in hi-vis but you do look like a twat if you are in a grave decades sooner than you otherwise would be. Hi-vis buys a car driver seconds, even milliseconds, that can be the difference between them stopping in time, slowing enough to just mildly injure you, or outright killing you. And double lights front and back for redundancy, clear ears, a swiveling neck, inquisitive eyes and defensive cycling. Stay safe.

Must be very soon as they are putting the shrubs and grass in now.

It’s a Planet X pro carbon from 2016. It was one of the more affordable carbon bikes I could get at the time.
