Personal updates until 1:57, so skip to there if you're just looking for the video's topic! This is how I lowered my voice within the past 3 years. I think the changes are pretty significant, so I thought I'd share!
NOTE: I did not completely stop binding. I bought a size bigger in my binder and only now wear a tight one when in a setting where I feel most dysphoric (at a party, in a class when I don't pass, etc). Binders do still work (quite a bit) if you get a size up, and it's much more bearable.
"I'm still pre t" I'm shook
Jess same
Actually, I was so shook. How tf, my voice is so freaking high that I never want to speak ;;
Same I was so surprised!
It's possible for anyone :)
He said he was pre t and I'm like what am I doing wrong😂
My voice is the only reason I don't pass. Just the other day I was at a meeting and I said something and this girl just stared at me for a long time. After a while, she said "Forgive me for staring, but with the way you were dressed, I had no idea you were a girl!" Crushed.
Same for me xD but my face features are too cute-like and soft, sometimes people realize I'm a girl even before I speak uwu"
Rose Turquoise It's hard.. Best of luck, sending my love
Ash Payne thanks :3
Btw i love your Vocaloid picture ^^
Rose Turquoise Thanks~
That happens to me also :(
I would say my chest and my voice are why I am so dysphoric
If you're as young as your profile pic looks, let me just say this:
You're young. It's good that you identify this dysphoria and transgender desire at a young age so that way you can be more comfortable with this as you're older. Keep holding on, man.
+Ashinator nope
same
+Panic! Ryan Røss Ryden! At The Disco bro ur username!
Kaeli Patterson my chest and my hips is why I'm so dysphoric not so much my voice tho.
"oh yeah i just stopped binding"
me, throwing my binder out the window: THERE MUST BE A SACRIFICE
id rather just not talk 😤
"A small price to pay for salvation."
Ya i could not get rid of it cause my chest is where i feel the most dysphoria so
I dont have to make that sacrafice, my transphobic parents would never allow me to bind ;-;
I don’t have a binder yet since I lived with transphobic parents for 18 years. Finally I’m not living with my family since I’m away at college. I’m getting a binder soon to help with my dysphoria. I’m the most dysphoric with my chest right now.
I can't believe you can get so low without T, that's craaaazy ahah. I gotta try this.
It worked for me! Try it. :)
Did you try it?
Did it work?
"First of all I stopped binding "
*me has left the chat*
I said no❤️😌
lmao same i was like "hell no to the no no nooo"
He put a note in the desc, didn't completely stop binding, just used bigger sizes and only binding tight when at certain places
me who’s not allowed a binder: 😏

Aight. I've cut my hair, I've got sports bras, and now I know how to lower my voice without T. Operation closeted trans is a go!
Success?
Same except I have this weird obsession with making my hands super veiny- so I have also learned how to do that- operation closeted trans is a go >:)
@@snuwhushshduhd4564 man I want veiny hands too, can you give me tips?
@@vagiterianbogmonster3268 I'd die for that
For me it's operation 'I don't really know what I am but even if I conclude that I'm trans I'd be still too scared to go through surgery and all that stuff'.
So how are things going for you after a year? And are sports bras effective and safe to hide your chest? I don't know mu cup size but I have a kind of small chest.
Bro me and the boys with hella deep voices pre T, we gonna be soundin like morgan freeman
LMFAOOOOO
LMAO BYE-
me and da homie
I finally told someone ” me man “ so now I’m tryna do this so that I don’t hate myself🤬🤬 I still sound like a little piss baby but now a masculine piss baby
MY GOAL IS CORPSE HUSBAND LMAO
i refer to myself as a cis dude, even though i’m intersex. i was raised male and my mind is male, so that’s why i like to think of myself as being cis. i’m very insecure about my body because of my hormone issues, making my chest be _a lot_ more feminine than i would ever want it to be. the kids in my class would call me “she-male” and other shitty things and it made me just hate my body even more. i have always been more self conscious about my voice, because it doesn’t have the texture of a post-pubescent guy, i sound young. if anyone, especially trans guys want tips to making their voice cis-passing pre-t, i have you covered, my man.
- firstly, talk with your chest-super important. my voice used to be really high but once i got older my voice shifted down into my chest-as it does with cis guys. this will help make your voice sound more hollow, rather than being up in your throat.
- actually taking the time to lower your larynx and speak with your vocal folds deeper in your throat, will help overall to make your voice sound deeper. but make sure to only lower it to where it feel comfortable, don’t hurt yourself.
- also, taking from the back of your mouth and throat can also help texturize your voice. it won’t be the thickened texture that testosterone will provide, but it works well. to talk with the back of your mouth, it can be done by tightening the top of your vocal folds and lowering the back of your tongue while you talk.
- also, speech patterns are important as well. there are specific ways that make your speech rather than voice feminine or masculine. try to talk slower and almost kind of arch your wording without jumping back up into your throat. i don’t really know how to explain it sorry.
- but most importantly, be safe. don’t hurt yourself whilst doing this, and remember that this is just a temporary situation hopefully. though, if and when you start testosterone, still talk with your chest and with other masc ways of speaking-this will help avoid the “tr*nny voice” (which is really just something that will make you sound throaty and nasally-not that cis guys can:t talk like that, but it’s mostly specific to ftm fellas). have a great day :)
This is absolutely beautiful- thank you. It’s helped more than any videos I’ve watched and got the job done way faster too! Thanks man
how exactly do you talk with your chest? sorry i’m a dumbass and can’t understand anything
Ty dude, helps me sm. especially talking from my chest! :)
Ur a godsend for this
I appreciate this so much, God bless you!🤍
Sometimes female voice actors voice-over teenage boys in Japanese anime. There are plenty of such tutorials, at industrial level, in Japanese and Chinese. So... I guess you can find something similar in English too?
Actually-
Its cuz most of the teen anime bois have high pitch voices-
I mean- look at Goku-
He's voiced by a very old woman-

I feel the same too, when i was pre-t.. but now iam almost 5month on-t.. and my voice getting depper.. and i love it. I feel more confident and comfortable..

This might sound weird but i get voice cracks for some reason and it makes me feel really euphoric :)
Idk just felt like sharing

I can make my voice crack and I love it! But it's not available when I need it!
same idk why but i like when i get voice cracks haha
Probably puberty. Idk how old you are though and I'm not gonna ask cause that'd be creepy
im glad i found this video, i am pre-T and i hate how high my voice sounds so i really wanted to lower it, my parents are doing everything they can to hold me back from transitioning, and publicly embarrass me all the time in hopes of deterring me :( but im 18 so i think they should stop trying to treat me like a kid with no rights its my body not theirs
+Harper Lennon Wow that's shitty!! my dad would never have supported me as a kid so i had to wait (pretty much been like this all my life i just didnt learn about -anything- till 16-18 didnt even know what to look up or that it was legal etc) but now, although he probably will never see me as his son etc, he is gunna help me,i am paying though but he says he'll support and he drove me to see my guy for the first time so thats a plus. It took him a long time though to leave his strict ways. Most of it was defeated by my sister constantly being rebellioius he learned the hard way he cant control us i wish u luck and can relate
Harper Lennon is it andy biersack in your pic?

Harper Lennon nice!

That's really good for you!

Good for you! Yay!
Congratulations! Is it safe to go on T at 12 y.o?
I needed this sooo much! A lot of the time my voice is why I don't pass...sure I am kind of small for a 14 year old guy and all that but people only question my voice and I am here like god someone save me...and I think you just did! Thank you!!! ♥
I was in the same boat. Sending you love.

My voice used to be the only reason I didn't pass. I voice trained and now I 100% pass AND I AM SO THANKFUL.
I voice trained for a little bit and it really hurt my throat, so I stopped. But then 6 months ago my voice began to gradually deepen on it's own. Now it's the deepest it's ever been and it sounds natural. I am so happy about it. Everyone I meet know's I'm a male. It's SUCH a relief.
I’m dysphoric cause of my voice, but if I stop binding then I’ll be dysphoric cause if my chest instead
That's a mood-
Welp, I'm non-binary, but it's still relatable
Humming as you slowly tilt your head back and look at the sky is another great way to lower it, but do it repeatedly for good results.
Thank you for the advice:)
**Does this for an hour**
It can damage your vocal chords
No! Terrible! It can ruin your voice *permanently!* don't do it!
cant fucking wait
i'm trans non-binary and i wanna achieve a lower and deeper voice! its super hard since i have a very high pitched voice but i'm trying to practice :) this helped! thank you so much!
I'm non binary too, and have a strong urge to bind. I'd also rather my voice deeper... But it's hard since my voice is also rather high...
Same! And to mess with strangers of course ;3 Hello fellow trans-nonbinary community!
same, i want the voice of a demon from the pits of hell but i sound like a baby

Thanks for this. Being non binary I am (probably) not going for T, but my voice is def triggering dysphoria. This video really made me think about how I am using my voice and what I can personally do to get to a pitch that I would feel more comfortable with. Thanks!

@Jeffrey Lebowski I feel bad that this is how you spend your time. Lmao.
Jeffrey Lebowski im pretty sure that you’re the insane one

I know it's been a while since you've posted this video. I still wanted to thank you. I'm only 13 years old and it's really hard for me to pass as a male. I want to start training my vocal chords now so maybe it's easier later on. Thank you so much you are a life saver !!!
+Jayy Rader hey dude, I'm 13 and a trans guy too, it's cool to know that I'm not the only one at this age who's going through this :)
I'm 13 and I'm a trans guy too 😀
Me too I'm ftm trans boy 13
+Sacha Hope same, getting my hair cut this summer and a gender therapist 🙂
Glad to see that there are more transguys at my age. I just turned 14 and I'm trying to lower my voice too. I hope it works out for you and that you can pass in public
this was extremely helpful!!! another tip i could give is to try singing songs sung by men and match their tone and pitch. i was recently in a musical where i played a male and had to sing in the tenor range and i noticed that i could hit much lower notes and that my voice was generally just lower than it was before, compared to my normally high-pitched voice and soprano 1 range. speaking from the chest helps too!
But because I’m a soprano I never get the chance to sing low! I don’t know how and I always sound ridiculous when I try.
suddenly stanning dude, I’m an alto (cis trans ally girl speaking) and honestly, after freshman year in high school (sang soprano section), I asked if I could be in the alto section from that point onwards. I LOVED it. Singing Alto makes me feel powerful and strong. Maybe you could ask your chorus teacher (if you have one) to sing in the alto section for one or more years? I think it would help, it could help you lower your singing voice a bit, and then maybe it could also kind of help to lower your talking voice so you can pass. I feel as though our society doesn’t value low notes as much as they do higher notes-probably because they seem more impressive. But yeah-I was not one of those kids who wanted to be an ingenue or Disney Princess at all.
“This is my voice *insert number* weeks on T” excePT WITHOUT THE T
Hey if I can do it so can anyone else : )
Holy crap! I thought you were at least a few months into HRT when starting this video, I never would have guessed otherwise! That's amazing, and super encouraging; I have the worst high pitched, chipmunk-y voice :/ definitely doing this now, thanks so much!!
+ItsaCaro Same here i cant even laugh without wanting to gag!
Seriously, it's possible! xx
this made my voice way deeper in 2 days!! I suggest you guys to try this!!
How did it work?
how can you guys afford both testosterone and get top surgery in such a short time???
Logan Sisco Hey! So, fortunately I have a job at my school and I saved up using that money for testosterone. In addition, my insurance covered 60% of top surgery, and covers a pretty good portion of my testosterone. I also made a gofundme and received some generous donations. I am very fortunate for all of this.
wow you're really lucky for that! Hopefully I'll be able to have a health insurance that covers for that, even by a little bit.
Saren Grey can I as what type of insurance you have ? I'm pre everything and looking for a good insurance to go with
Caroline White Aetna!
Saren Grey thank you!
I agree with the consistency part, I've been trying to lower my voice but I slip up by singing really high and my cousin likes to remind me of why I shouldn't sing lol
my dysphoria used to be focused on my hair, chest, pp, and hips. after i started packing, cut my hair, started binding, and got bigger pants. my voice started killing me cause it's the only reason i don't pass
I’m an unannounced ftm (aka I’m not even in the pre-t phase at all, my family doesn’t know I’m technically identifying as trans (for a second time) lmao), I’m too scared to go through the process of coming out again even though it well last time, so this probably means I’ll unfortunately never get testosterone 😐 but I really thank videos like yours because I hate my voice with every ounce of fiber in my body because I sound like a 7 year old girl, I’ll never pass at this rate with this voice of mine 💀💀 thank you SO much for this video, now I have a inkling of hope I can actually sound more masculine
I’m actually just non-binary and trying to sound more masculine to be more androgynous. I don’t have a binder (wish I did) and I’m not going to cut my hair so I actually think it’ll really, REALLY mess with everyone when they see me XD
Thanks for the voice advice! I can lower my voice fine, but in public it always gets a higher feminine pitch. I'll have to talk to my friends about keeping that in check ;u;
Me, an FTM who likes to wear dresses: *Just existing*

UPDATE: I have launched my business to support accessible fitness for trans people!!! Please support us here: www.grxyfit.com/
Man, you've got this amazing roughness in your voice that you don't even have to drop it to tenor to sound like you're a teenager. That's awesome!
Based on my own experience, while vocal ranges in singing might be short, vocal ranges in speaking are a lot larger. Regarding lowering pitch, it's all about where your head voice, mid voice, and chest voice sit. So if your head voice is soprano, you can at least get to low alto which would be your chest voice. This guy sounds like like his head voice is low soprano, so he was able to get to tenor. My head voice is low alto, so I was able to get to bass. This applies to speaking, not singing.
I find singing the song by grandson “darkside” but in daycore so its unhumanly low and then try to match the pitch😂

Me, a C cup: 👁👁
I'm pre-T and probably will always be because of my fear of needles and this was really helpful, thank you a lot!! :)
Hey dude. I'm really afraid of needles too, but that's the only option for me. My clinic first had me on subQ shots(small needles injecting into a fat layer) and honestly it's a breeze. Just a pinch and some pressure. I tried giving the traditional intramuscular shot in the thigh a try and couldn't walk for two days. SubQ is awesome.
Billuminati Cat Cipher oh thanks for the info! :) it made me feel more hopeful
:) Np! It's the new way to do shots so some places might have to be given the heads up
there is also a type of testosterone that is called gel testosterone there is no injection required
@@mayamccain362 shit actually? that's great bc I'm actually terrified of any and all needles lmao
I am 13, and nonbinary(afab). I am going to start training my voice and see how low it can go. Update in a year.
Update?
@@iz8901 holy moly i forgot about this. pretty good, my voice is definitely lower
I’m a cis male and I’m watching this just to have a even lower voice
I'm Non-binary. So, I don't want to use T, but I really want to have more of an androgynous voice, or even just be able to alternate between a deeper voice, and my current one. I just really hate my high voice, tbh...

im currently 19 years old, watching this and realizing this was in uploaded the year i realised i was trans :’)
I was so surprised by how deep your voice was when I first watched the video. Thank you so much!
The humming thing is really helping me out, I'm so glad that I have a new method of deepening my voice. Others don't seem to work so well as this one, obviously I'll stay consistent with the humming and other tips you've given. Hearing that you're transitioning is taking a huge boost is very inspiring
I’m just now seeing this video but HAPPY 5 YEARS ON T💗💗💗💗
thank you so much for this video. its only been a few weeks i have been doing this and theres already such a huge difference in my voice and a huge(positive) difference in my life.
It’s been seven years since you posted this, but i just wanted to say thank you so much for making this :)

Such a gorgeous transition! I'm so jealous
Nikalas Rose Nothing to be jealous of!
I'm so glad that this is something that can be done without T since I can't use it. Thank you so much!!
wow man you're very well spoken! anyway congrats on furthering your transition. I always did the same thing with my voice and I often sang along to bands or artists with lower vocals.
If someone tells you in the comments to hum and tilt your head back..DO NOT DO IT!! It can permanently damage your vocal chords!!! Stay safe, guys!
Would a hundred percent damage my chords for euphoria bruh
@@lesliesocks8363same dude
I don’t pass for a lot of reasons. My voice is the only thing I can change right now. It’s also hard to pass as non-binary in a place where no one knows what that is. People are always asking me questions and since I have a lot of mental problems I really don’t like human interaction. I try to answer actual questions people may have, no matter how stupid, but if someone is being an ass with what they’re saying then shit goes down.
Actually got into a fist fight after standing in front of the bathrooms to long trying to figure out which one to use. Some dude saw me and said “just use the girls room faggot”. Me being a hot head told him to “go stick your ego up your ass. Not sure it’d fit with your head so far up in there.” After a lot of yelling a teacher noticed and tried to calm us down, at that point I was willing to just walk away but he said that I was trying to peak at the boys in the bathroom.
Me, not knowing how to shut the fuck up said “well sorry your girl has more STDs then someone with a stutter reciting the alphabet because she gotta go get paid for satisfaction you one pump chump.”
He swung, I dodged. He tried to hit first so I had an excuse.
When your abusive father is a black belt you learn, like it or not, how to defend yourself. He left him self open and ended up getting his elbow broken, his esophagus elbowed, and getting suplexed. Got a black eye because there was a weed pipe in his back pocket and I’m bad at suplexing.
after watching this video, i now have so much newfound motivation!! i sang hozier right after practicing for a bit, and it was an amazing experience! thank you so so much!!!
I came here to lower my voice (I can literally hit whistle notes .-.) and I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!! Good luck with T and top surgery!!
I love the positivity in your videos. Congratulations on starting T!!! :)
Thank you so much man. I really appreciate that. :)
This gives me hope! I'm still thinking about pros and cons of starting T, but I'd really like to deepen my voice regardless. It's amazing that you've been able to do so much just by staying aware of it and practicing.
Also, you have a great smile, and seeing how happy you are here about starting T the next day makes me happy. In fact, I blew you a kiss before you blew one to the camera. :* :D
The odd thing is I’m not even trans or FTM I’m just embarrassed about my high ass voice 😔
Lol me neither but my voice sounds way too high!
I'm watching this exACTLY two years after it came out!!!
Also, this was amazingly helpful.
Thank you!

Thanks for making this, because I'm here 5 years later and it's helped so yeah. Thanks :)
Lmao I have an excuse if my voice doesn't pass.
(Apparently it does tho) but if it didn't I can blame my Asian genes lmao.
"Why do you sound like a girl?" "Asian genes" anyway hopefully no one gets triggered but I think that's pretty excuseable
Lmao, I'm a hafuu and it couldn't pass till I got on T. It was always bassy, but still couldn't get anywhere near that guy's without hormones.
lol actually most asian guys I know have a deeper voice that other people even though they're shorter
Supersonic Velocity Dispersion Yeah lol there’s this kid who was born in China and he’s one of the shortest/skinniest kids in our grade but his voice is much, much deeper than any of my friends’.
I have a guy friend whose voice is higher than mine
I understand why you would think that, but many Asians tend to be socialized to speak in a way that is interpreted as feminine. I always knew who was raised in a traditional Asian household on hearing their breathiness and upward inflection, and their pinched tone sounding like they are smiling a lot when they speak. Rounding out your vowels, dropping your inflection and using your full tone rather than breathiness helps passing.
I'm so happy for you bro. Really, really happy for you.
"First of all I stopped binding."
Aight, Imma head out.
Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome vid - I am totally taking advantage of this advice and working on speaking more deeply, and even now with small adjustments through the day I can significantly deepen my voice - this is going to help me out ridiculously.
sphirosokelli I'm so, so glad to hear that man!
I've been lowering my voice more and more each day, and I'm so proud of myself. I've gotten so far in what time I've been doing this.
It's insane how deep your voice is pre-T! This vid was very helpful, thank you :]
I'm glad you found it helpful. xx
I remember watching this when I was 12 and I'm very happy this exists 😌
Unfortunately the stop binding thing is the painful truth for a lot of trans guys as they are very chest. but as a massage therapist I can confirm that after years of binding I still have trouble with breathing in my diaphragm and lowering my voice because of it and every time I get a massage it helps so get massages they can help stretch out all those muscles that are super tight! Make sure that you stretch your pecs
Your voice sounds amazing already!!! I hope I can sound as good as you soon bro (: Thanks! I'm excited for your transition. Congrats!
I'm so excited for you!!
to 2014 was a huge drop, good job man
Your voice is just so perfect already, I can't even imagine what it would be with T
Ramsey Nettlefield Aw, haha. Thanks. Well you can watch any latest video. 🙂
This is the best reference video I’ve seen. Boss
Thanks for the video!! I'm gonna start trying this tomorrow, I'm wanting to try and practise deepening my voice for school, it hopefully might be slightly easier as I already have a deep voice compared to most of the girls around me, now I guess the only thing is to convince my parents to get my hair cut short
your voice is literally my voice goals wtf
I have found my new morning routine, new lower voice here I come!
Bro my voice actually went up with puberty I am so sad 😭 I’m still in Highschool and I can’t do T until I’m 18, I hope I can learn to have a voice like yours! My voice is the main thing that does not let me pass
i have pcos, so getting t is really complicated, so this is really appreciated!!
i live with my parents rn so it's gonna be hard, but i'm out so fingers crossed
honestly i dont think im ever gonna go on t, but my voice is literally one of the biggest things im dysphoric about so thx for making this
Thank you so much for this. Unfortunately I can't transition at the moment at all, but I think this'll definitely help me sound like how I want to sound :'0 thank you!!
You got it all right, mate! It's all about the way you talk.
Omg- that must've so exciting! I've still got a couple years to ago until I could actually do it. My voice sounds so strained and fake, I hate it- so this video really helps
for the guys who are scared to stop binding for dysphoria reasons, all i have to say is trans t a p e, it’s way better than binding, you can breath easily, and sleep, shower, and swim in it
@nebulousgardens ah yes, i have experienced some scarring which i thought was permanent but it seems to have gone? i’m not sure
Omg I actually can't believe it, Woah! I have such bad voice dysphoria and had no idea this was possible to reach pre T
This helped before I started T!
So thankful!
omg... i don't know people can actually change their voice like that.... this is dope...
Dude you look super cool .. I am truly happy for you ..all the best
I also do these before school and it helps me alot During choir too, helps me pass even more and I feel more confident with it singing with the bass
I am literally so impressed by your pre-t voice!! I honestly really wish I could learn how to speak so masculinely even without T. I don’t think I will ever be able to translation medically and I am often so embarrassed by my voice being the way it is. I am unfortunately pretty uncoordinated with my voice ;; does anyone have any more tips that could help? I love this video a lot and I will definitely be using the advice from this one! Thank you soooo much!!!!

YAY! Good for you! I hope all the tests go well. I'm going to be "Pre-T" for about 4 years so thats fun. I also have a Transphobic family so thats fun too!
I’m late on this (by 3 years) but I would still like to say that’s really good!
This video was great thank you
Thank you for this!!! I just realised that I'm trans last night. I was on the phone with my girlfriend, and she was talking about what it was like for her to figure out she was trans, and I just had the thought 'I want to be a boy.' It was jind of that moment of WOAH WHAT THE FUCK WAS THA???? My girlfriend told me to do my hair in a masculine style (and my hair is really short. It used to be in a buzz cut, but it's grown into a pixie cut, so it wasn't too hard to do that ), and after I did that, it was just kind of like.....wow. And then my girlfriend who would always call me her princess and her pretty girl and wonderful girlfriend started calling me her prince, handsome boy, her wonderfull boyfriend, and it felt.....like... ...so much BETTER to be called more masculine things. And I have a naturally lower voice, but it still sounds very feminine. So just like......thank you for this.
I'm literally the exact same way! This past week I've just been wanting to be a boy all the time, and then I kinda realised that I was trans (I thought I was nonbinary) but unfortunately I have a really high voice so
