I'm here and watching! love this stuff. I just got my darbuka but I have a question about drum heads. they gave me replacements that don't sit deeply enough on the rim. am I supposed to push down to expand the depth of the drum head or are they just the wrong size altogether in your opinion? it sucks because these things are from Egypt and there's no stores here dealing with them.
Hmm, it's hard for me to know what's going on without seeing what you're seeing. It sounds like maybe the head fits around the rim of the drum, but it's raised above the collar? I'm not sure. Have you tried contacting the manufacturer or dealer? That may or may not get you anywhere. I don't want to say too much without seeing the drum and head.
Generic drums have this issue amongst others. The rim that the skin sits on is too high and can be sanded down but you will distort the sound if you do not sand it down perfectly.
You are a master, and the manner of performance and indoctrination is excellent. Good luck to you from the Gaza Strip
Thank you

Yes, you two have described the problem perfectly.
