Wow… Imagine it’s poring … or hot… or you need the bathroom… or you are having health issues … is unacceptable. I think I would have given up and canceled the trip.

That's insanity. Can't imagine having disabled people or kids in that queue.

If you applied for fast track, would that help? Flying the first week of August 🤔

Wow. I’ve been to some airports that were absolutely bonkers, BONKERS!, but Birmingham airport is beyond that, a complete failure. Keeping a positive attitude is a must because there is nothing you can do about the collapse of infrastructure.

As a regular traveller from Australia, have to say all my worst Airport experiences have recently been in UK (plus AMS). And they charge highest long haul passenger tax. Worst for me Manchester. But LGW, Stansted hardly world class. Australian airports usually better but no where near Changi (SIn) or even BKK or DMK. I would even rate Denpasar & Manila better than most UK airports. Only LHR is in world's top 20 according to Skytrax. Flying via Singapore next week to LGW. Another indication of what UK needs to be improved? Asia leaving UK behind.

Birmingham was designed to be a small regional airport. No expansion. It lacks the scale and resources.

Wow that’s crazy! I’ve never seen an airport so backed up, but it was good to hear that most people were taking it in stride and trying to have good humour about the situation. Safe travels!

Sorry if i missed it, what time of day was this? We are flying out to Majorca in a few weeks. Friday 7.30am flight with Jet2. Luckily staying over in a hotel and making use of the twilight check in, so baggage checked in night before. Straight to the security queue for us, just unsure how early to get there. 🤔. Enjoyed your video, best i've seen. Thanks 👍

Arrived 4 hours early. Gate closed whilst waiting at security. Bag was rejected for no apparent reason. Return flight was fast, although I got injured in the overcrowded lift as my bicycle wheel got trapped in the gap, costing me £150 damaged wheel as I fell over it. Still acclimatising to the UK prices and poor services. It puts me off flying for anything but essential reasons.

It’s pretty grim at the moment, flew last weekend 6am and I’d got assistance booked. No queues outside but took 30 minutes to wait to check in at assistance and that was standing up. Then got assigned someone to walk me through so went via fast track, straight to lifts then bypassed queue. Took 30 minutes at scanners as they were pulling so many bags, mine was checked for one aerosol and it was 100ml. Not enough seating in assistance area but all in all took 1.5hrs and was ok but glad I’d assistance as I can’t stand for too long.

Hi Neil, I remember a similar less organized and less calm situation when there were strikes decades ago. I am at around 20 flights a year - living on an island in the Pacific adds to the volume! My approach for years has been to shoot for at least 3 hours before scheduled flight then use that extra time to read and perhaps enjoy a good meal (not all airports have "decent" restaurants). The cost of the meal is money better spent than going with flight insurance! Imagine the stress for those who showed up say less than two hours and maybe made or missed their flights. Travel is stressful and anything you can do to reduce that in a low cost manner really helps.
Their 700,000 BPS CEO could maybe implement a notice on their website to indicate what the actual/expected wait time is (I actually went on their webpage and there is no warning about queues, their 100 ml liquid advice is a small link at the top of the page, but you can send them an email to perhaps suggest this - RyanAir could of course have warned their passengers!). I look forward to your next adventure! Cheers, Rod from Honolulu

At best there has been conflicting messages coming from various media organisations, so travelers may not be up to date on what’s happening. The roll out of the new scanners has been delayed as well. The only flight news making the mainstream is the Aer Lingus pilot strike and now work to rule. Good luck to all traveling.

Crazy times indeed! I was at Dublin airport in May and the lineups were bad, we were broken off in groups and herded to different areas of the airport, but this is awful what I see here on your film. Most important reminder to us all....allow plenty of time before your flight at airport because who knows what can happen!
