At first I thought this is a $5000 bike and when you mentioned "other people experienced with better bikes" - I thought this is in a $3000 range. It's unbelievable that nowadays a bike like this could be bought with $1400 (stock, no mods). 😳💯

Soon to be 65 ride both Diamondback Atroz 2 and Poly N9 ! Night and day difference, upgraded suspension keep the joints moving . I also have a few pedal strikes , better technique! Life long gym rat 3 years MTB!
Awesome review and follow up i was going to comment till i saw you did a current review . i'm looking into a new bike, I have been riding a Batch hybrid bike coughs over 3 k miles , I wanted to move up to a hardtail style bike . i agree the peddles had to go the seat also tires rubber had to go i'm so on that good tires make a safer ride . i'm 50 ish chuckles your young we heal even slower at my age just 411. i ride 500 miles a month easy so yes your tire upgrade was smart move, i ran my factory tires till they died lol . i rarely shift out 7 th gear ever but i like the 1 x10 i thought it would be something i'd hate on my current bike .so i'm glad to see they have the 1 by in there line up . polygon is on my radar now thanks to your review . i have been fighting between kona liv ribble bikes i have a few months till i put my order in February my planed decision date unless right price pops up
Thanks for the great comments and sharing your thoughts/ experiences ;) I actually upgraded to the Polygon T8 since this review just to let you know and it's basically a more heavy duty version of the D6 capable of really hitting rocks, roots, and jumps hard. I'm considering reviewing it, but with this video getting so few views it's hard to justify the effort ;)

Hi Jay ( sorry for my bad english) i have right now sony rx101v im happy with this camera but im dissipointed with low light, im thinking of sony 6600 and Sony E 70-350mm G OSS, what do you think of that ? i love to shoot portait and some shoot of my cats ( even in lowlights ) what the differns in iso 400/800 for example do you see differans
Hello, For low light you would want a faster aperture lens most importantly. So the A6600 with the Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Lens (bhpho.to/2Du1rUM) for example would be fantastic for portraits and low light. The E 70-350mm G OSS Len is an awesome telephoto lens, but not very good for low light. Better for outdoor bright conditions like field sports or nature animals/ landscapes. A great all in one lens for low light would also be the the Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Lens (bhpho.to/3sN3XtP). ISO 400/ 800 is really good on the A6600 when compared to the RX10 IV as well.
I would really recommend to try locking "clipless pedals"! Cycling without them is almost equal to just using one leg. They are also more safe in rough terrain. I use them even in a normal cycling around the city 😂.
I appreciate the feedback and advice ;) However, I have tried those locking pedals years ago, and they are just not for me. I fell so many times and just could not get over the learning curve/ fear. Most people I know are running flats these days. Also some Mountain Bike Champions are using the flat pedals and winning, so I don't think they are that bad in comparison to the clipless, although clearly not as efficient to your point. I could see using on the road more perhaps in the future, but I just don't want to go thru that learning curve and like to able to step off at will.
@@Jason_Hermann Oh, okay 🙂👍🏻. My experience is mainly from 15-20 years ago when I cycled a lot in a tough forrest and rock environment (with Cannondale Caad 4 frame mountain bike). There I felt so much safer and more capable with the the locking clipless pedals because my feet stayed in contact with the pedals. This helped when needing to correct the bike's position in air or jump / lift the back tire etc. Also some climbs up to the rocks were so demanding that it was needed to be able to use the lifting power from the leg moving up - at least with my skill level. But of course everyone should use the gear they feel most comfortable with 💯!
It's amazing to hear that some pros use flat pedals! Really interesting, thanks for the info! Back then I didn't do competitions myself (well, I did but in cross-country skiing) but cycled weekly in a group which got two national level mountain bikers.
Unfortunately I got a chronic medical condition causing a disability, so I can't cycle anymore even though still just 36. But it is what it is 🤷🏻♂️🙂.
Btw. when you told that the back cassette in your bike came loose I remembered that after 2-3 weeks of usage my Cannondale's crank arm totally detached while cycling 😳. At that point it was really helpful to have those locking pedals because I needed to cycle over 6km (~3,7 miles) with just one leg...🦵🏻😂.

Oh yeah, your experience with clipless is correct based on many and my limited use back in the day. The new flat pedals have threaded spikes coming out of the them all over and flat shoes are warn with soft rubber soles for killer traction. The grip is incredible, and to pull up the rear you need to point your toes down as you pull up. Not as easy as clipless, but it does work ;) Sorry to hear of your injury, that sucks.... Thinking to buy secondhand Polygon siskiu d6 2018 vs. GT avalanche expert 2014 vs. Giant fathom 29 2 2017. Which one would be the best choice if its conditions and prices are same.

Sorry man I'm not familiar with those older bikes and would have to do a ton of research... I would check out the weight differences and the components used on each bike. Check the rims and overall bike maintenance condition to see which is the overall better value I would say...

Is there a possibility to upgrade just the LAST cog to 51t ?
you have no complains on the Fork, the other reviews are all complaining about it...
Not sure about changing the last cog, but I don't think the rear de railer can handle it.. As far as the fork goes, yes I can notice now that it is not near as good as higher end forks, like my T8 has for example. However, when I made this review it was my first full suspension bike, and I still think for the money this bike is incredible. The forks worked amazing I thought until I tried really good ones and then you can notice for sure if that makes sense...
I know it's old. But what width tyres did you go with? Assuming the 2.3. trying to workout if I go to 2.3 or 2.5 (and if 2.5 fits).

Great vid. Quick question, this bike geo says that the bb drop is 47mm, bb height is 326mm, I compared to a lot of different downcontry bikes and this Polygon D6 has a veryyy low bb drop and height. What are your thoughts of that? Did you get any pedal strikes?
I didn't notice it being lower than normal honestly, but yes I did occasional strike rocks with the peddle and I still do on my newer Polygon T8 also. I just try to peddle better and use the ratchet method to avoid peddle strikes as best I can. Also, the single gear in front is so small, that it's not really that low to the ground... A lot of people use shorter cranks for that problem though... My T8 has that mount on the bottom bracket to put a bash guard which I have installed to protect the front gear. Now that I have that I don't even worry about at all... The D6 I had did not have that mount option though... I hope that helps Carlos and all the best, Jay
@@Jason_Hermann Great explanation buddy. Yes the bb is very low on Polygon bikes in general. On my local trails that I know very well I never had any pedal strikes where with the d6 was super bad. Even the T8 version has a low bb compare to my stumpy 140 travel fork. I guess Polygon really like thier bb to be on the low side, where I live there are too many technical climbs, I'm thinking on selling it and just keeping my stumpy.

What would be the main argument for d6 over d5? I'm over 40 I don't care about tricks or jumps just comfort on gravel light trails...
honestly you may well be just as happy on the d5, two major differences is the the d5 uses a wheel standard that makes it hard to upgrade (likely won't matter to you) the other thing is the d5 has a 2x drivetrain vs 1 1x this matters most for single track riding but you can read or watch a vid on that

How was the ergon ga3 Vs the stock grips?
Far superior in my opinion Billy. That extra area for your palm really helps disapate the upper body weight better than stock or regular round grips. My new bike has round grips and I seriously miss the GA3's.

Really, at only 200 miles? That does not sound right to me, but I appreciate the info! I sold this bike last year when I got he T8 :) Prolly need to service those shocks though to your point since I have over 1000miles on them at this point...

The D7 is way better
The D7 is certainly a great option as well if you want a little better components. I like the expanded 11 gear range and significantly better suspension in particular!
